Caprese salad
Danielle K.

I used to order from Bella Luna about once a week however due to the owner change, I stopped getting pasta because the sauce is very sweet and that's not the type of tomato sauce I like. I would however get a pizza every now and then. I decided to ordera pizza pop and a Caprese steak salad. This was delivery so there were fees. It was about $15. The pizza pop was OK honestly however again I did not like the sauce so I couldn't use the sauce, but this salad was ridiculous. It was mostly just lettuce. Tomato and mozzarella. You cannot charge $15 for this mostly lettuce. It was very disappointing. I understand that people like sauce different ways and the current way of making sauce is not mine. However, this salad you cannot sell this for $15 it literally was just lettuce

This is suppose to be bbq chicken. So greasy and oily. Would never order here again

It has Gonna downhill since the last review. I won't ever order from this establishment again mostly due to their customer service. Sorry Bella Luna your bad customer service has me never wanting to come back! Enjoy the last tip

Just how I received it (un-boxed)

The best delivery pizza place around !!! I'm reviewing the take-away portion due to never actually eating inside as of yet . Every time I order on GrubHub the food gets to me piping hot and perfectly cooked . Everything you would expect from taste was there . Today I ordered a lasagna (side salad included ) and loved that it came with 4 slices of Italian bread . All i had to do was supply butter . The lasagna had meat inside and plentiful cheese . Just like home !!! The salad was a nice presentation cheese on top just as I like it. This is the only place I will order calzones or pizza from. Authentic and cooked perfectly. The regular delivery guy is super nice and friendly (not sure if others I only see him ) . I tried their steak and cheese grinder recently and found that they make it the best.

Bone(?) in cheesesteak meat.

Bella Luna usually never fails or does me wrong. Wings are good.. fries are ok (real basic fries, no seasoning but cooked nice)... cheesesteaks are pretty good... But tonight, I ordered (on GrubHub) for my family again the following - 2 cheesesteaks - 1 eggplant parm - fries - buffalo wings This food was absolutely piss-poor in quality. Both cheesesteaks had really hard, not-chewable bits in them and we had to pick out the crap from each bite until we were able to SEE them and pick them out. I ended up throwing a whole half of my cheesesteak out because I was so annoyed. The eggplant parm barely had any sauce and the bread was considerably over-toasted. I did specify to fry the buffalo wings hard, as I hate mushy wings that are pink in the middle, but these were nearly burnt to a crisp on the outside and not completely cooked not the inside. For the prices this place charges, there should be much consistency in the food quality. Cooks should also be mindful of the food they're cooking. The white strips of bone or whatever that were in the steak(s) are extremely visible. The only reason I am giving Bella Luna a 2-star review instead of a 1-star review is because there WAS potential, and I will not contest that. It was the first place my family and I ordered pizza and wings, and cheesesteaks from in Meriden when we moved here. Things simply got worse from there, and tonight really did it for me. I am extremely displeased and will indeed let this one-off experience from Bella Luna be the absolute last time I place an order from them. They say, "you can't win the lottery if you don't play," but most times it's wiser for you to save your money or invest in something else. On another note, if you're considering getting the buffalo chicken tenders -- DON'T. They're literally chicken tenders from Restaurant Depot with squirts of hot sauce on them. The delivery guy was nice though. All of the delivery people that I've had from Bella Luna were sweet. That and my initial experience with Bella Luna and the fact that I can't leave a 0-star review are keeping this restaurant's notoriety.

Chicken Parmigana was on point and done very well

This place is probably the CREAM OF THE CROP when it comes to delivery/take out for local Meriden residents. We aren't from Meriden though. We found this place from Groupon and good Google reviews. Luna Bella's sit down area where my family ate dinner wasn't the best aesthetically to the eye but it was a requirement to use the Groupon so we did. When we came in there, there were some older locals sitting together and eating. Wasn't too busy for a Saturday in the seated area. Our server was very attentive and the food was done very well. I got a Chicken Parmigana dinner and my wife got Chicken Francese. Again, nothing fancy but it was good where it really mattered, the food. Everyone raves about their pizza. I will have to get it the next time I'm in the area. Ill be back but most likely for takeout next time.

Good food but deliver was horrible , cheese off the pizza and order all incorrect.

Very good calzone. Small is huge and stuffed with mozzarella and ricotta! I added sausage also. Their pizza is very good! Good place and local!

We ordered a simple cheese pizza and a chicken cutlet sandwich. The pizza was fresh, melty cheese with tasty Italian spices and perfectly cooked crust, but wasn't anything special. There are many other pizzerias in the area so it comes down personal preference and price. The chicken cutlet sandwich was a decent size and delicious. We were happy with the portion sizes, quality, and price. Our total was about $23 and we had leftovers (this was for 2 people). We will likely order again and will think of this place if we plan to have pizza for a gathering.

On a recent Saturday I finally stopped in for their $6.50, 2 slice pizza deal that comes with a 20 ounce Coke. The pizza is New Haven style and baked in a wood fired oven, need I say more? Pizza pizza pizza!…read more We ordered the pepperoni with hot honey. The pizza wasn't too greasy, and the requested "well done" pepperoni wasn't as well done as I would have like, but still very delicious. The garlic knots were fill of garlic and perfect with a side of marinara sauce.

The fourth being Illiano's where once again I forgot how relatively expensive their slices were in the past and likely continue to be though admittedly I neglected to inquire or take note of how much I paid. I requested a pair of cheese slices, NY style according to its website, to go and after paying was ignored by one and all for too many minutes. Although they advertise on their website that a snack in the form of a tiny nugget of pizza would be offered, none was offered to me - boohoo. Finally one of the employees broke away from whatever he had been engaged in, took note of my order of which there was no others and placed the slices in the oven. Shortly thereafter the slices were properly reheated, boxed and handed to me with nary an apology or a smile offered. These were consumed in the car where both of us agreed the crust bordered on being tasteless and the toppings only fractionally better. This location, the owners third, has been in operation since 2008 so obviously they are doing something right though you could not prove it by me.

If you like New Haven style pizza, which is arguably the 'esemplare' of all pizza, then visiting The Little Rendezvous is a MUST visit if you live within 90-min. Plan a trip to visit some store you want to go to, a beach visit or whatever, just find a way to circle The Little Rendezvous into the trip! The crust is thin with a crackery-crunch, the sauce is at a another level and the mozz and roni are high-quality deliciousness! Rendezvous stands tall with any of the well known top-3 pizza joints in New Haven. Dave's score of 9.1 (if you are unaware of the reference, then pizza isn't your thing) is right on point, and I'd go as far as scoring it slightly higher at a 9.2 based on my visit. The building is something out of folklore. The building is all of about 20ft. wide, and when you enter, it is immediate, Steve (owner/chef) is all about the pizza. To be clear, most will consider Rendezvous to be take-out only. There is zero decor, less signs made with cardboard and sharpie notifying you that wait times of hours are real..... so be sure to call ahead. You walk past the most basic seating area of 3-4 small tables with bare walls, and then proceed to walk down an oddly long and narrow sloping hallway which leads you to the service counter/kitchen which houses the 130-year old oven! It's honestly something you could only imagine out of a movie...... the hole in the wall that is creating high-quality, delicious pizzas! Why or how you ask? The answer is simple, Steve! The guy clearly has a passion for making pizza and has dedicated his life to doing so. I met the 'man-the myth-the legend' on my visit, and he kindly even took the time to chat with me. Bucket-list item checked off! Overall score = 5.0!!!

As far as pizza goes, I have had the opportunity to sample most of the high profile places and understand why this place deserves to be on the list. The crust is pretty fantastic and overall a really good pie. When we went, there was no line. The grab and go was super simple, cash only. Order ahead, plan accordingly, and enjoy.
