This was our first visit. It was our anniversary lunch. We made an online reservation and the greeter had a record of it. At 11:30 a.m., they were already about half full with diners. Our server was Theo. He did a great job. Very attentive to our needs. Since it was Martini Monday, we had a vodka and a gin martini. They had a list of ten different kinds, but we stuck with the basics. They weren't light on the alcohol. Appetizer was a plateful of calamari. Freshly fried and came with two sauces and sliced banana peppers. Very tasty! Next was a dinner salad. My wife had the Caesar and I had the Side. Crispy greens. Next came the entrees. I had the Honey Glazed Salmon on a small bed of leaf spinach. Enjoyable in that you could actually taste the glazing. My wife had the Spaghetti Carbonara. Really good, too. Could easily taste the bacon. Had to take half of it home because it was a very generous portion We shared a brownie with salted caramel sauce-drizzled Tahitian vanilla ice cream. The brownie was not heated (they don't use microwave ovens), but excellent nonetheless! May not eat for a few days. Manager visited at the end of the meal and kindly gave us a coupon for a free pasta entree since it was our first visit. We'll be back. We also visited their enclosed patio before departing. Worst experience ever at this restaurant. I will not go back. Restaurant was not busy yet my food took over a half hour to get. By the time I got my food, it was cold. The fire alarm went off and it was incredibly loud. I stood up to walk out the door but nobody was leaving. I heard another customer ask for the manager but she never came after waiting there for 5 minutes. I asked the host what the managers name is. He said her name is Jaime and she is the GM. As I was finally leaving I saw this GM be extremely rude to an employee and ignore a customer. I also saw the fire department show up but we never got an explanation. Absolutely wonderful service from Matthew today. We came in for an early dinner and everything was perfect. Our food was fresh and delicious. The mashed potatoes were fresh and the flavor of the day was interesting. Steak was cooked very even and to the correct temperature. The steak could have used a little more seasoning. The atmosphere gets a great rating from me, the reason for the two stars is food and service. I ordered a steak, it was served in a pool of myoglobin and juices. It was poor presentation and like they were compensating for dryness. Steak was also tough and bland. I ordered medium so it shouldn't have been so tough. Sad--- Stopped in after a long day. Order two app's to go and had a martini. It took 40 minutes for the apps with 25% capacity and plenty of staff for once. So I should first preface that this restaurant never said they make authentic Italian food. That being said my family and I were very disappointed, yesterday, when we arrived at such a full establishment, with such a beautiful smell only to be served the most disappointing "Italian" food. After waiting 15 minutes to be seated when more that half of the restaurant was empty we got served some water, my father got drenched because the server spilled water all over him. Our entrees were okay at best. The garlic cheese bread was pretty good, and the sauce was nice. But the bruschetta was not at all what we expected. We got soft bread with melted cheese three little pieces of tomatoes on top and a pesto and balsamic glaze drizzle. I wouldn't call that a bruschetta. We ordered a pizza expecting the sauce to be the same as the one served with the garlic bread but we got a sorry excuse for a pizza instead. The dough was cooked but it tasted so bad. The mozzarella was thick and gloopy and for the price we really expected more. We asked for basil on top and we also got pesto drizzle...Which isn't even the same thing. I got the Cajun chicken with a side of spaghetti and the house salad. The salad looked like it had been prepared in the morning with the sauce and everything. The leaves were disintegrating. The pasta was okay but over cooked and the cheese was very strange. The chicken was pretty good. Throughout this whole dinner experience we had napkins and straw papers that should have been picked out and thrown away but that stayed on our table until the very end. Overall I wouldn't recommend this to anyone. Our hopes were very high but our expectations were destroyed pretty fast. read more

I came here on a Thursday night without reservation around 6:30pm. When we got there parking lot was full! Instantly worried that we might need to wait to be seated. But note that there are couple other restaurants sharing same parking lot (one of them being a brew house and it was a ball game day lol) When we walked in we were seated right away, they weren't packed but pretty full for a weekday night. Server came quickly and took our drink order and was very polite and pleasant. We ordered Pinot Gris which was good and to start we ordered fried zucchini and the marinara sauce that came with went very well with it. It was pretty big portion so we ended up taking it home. I forgot to get picture but also got a small side salad which seemed to have house Italian dressing and some feta cheese. Looked great (I didn't try it tho) For my dish, I ordered one from small plate which was the mussel. The waiter told me it was new for their menu but it turned out very good. It came with 4 toasted bread which some cheese on top. And it was tomato base (some places have just white wine base) but I love tomatoes so it worked for me. My boyfriend got one of their featured entrees which was chicken loulade. Came with lightly breaded chicken stuffed with feta cheese and angel hair pasta covered in garlic creamy sauce. He really enjoyed it and finished the whole thing! Overall experience was pleasant good was good. For 5 stars I typically look for the wow factor (something different whether that's food or drinks.) but I would defiantly come back to this place! And totally recommend it for date nights. read more

Made reservations to ensure we had a table on a Friday night with a party of five. Spent more than an hour and 20 minutes waiting for food with two young kids in tow. Waiter said it's because they had multiple large parties. Perhaps you scale back on your reservations to allow quality service and food which equals repeat customers. Salad had ice in it, 1 anchovy in Caesar for an up charge and can't tell you about the food since we had it boxed up. So disappointing since it's in the neighborhood. Appetizers took 30 mins to come out - should have been the first indicator. Would give zero rating if possible. Bad choice and won't return. I give people a break because of challenge with getting and keeping staff but this was beyond acceptable. Go some place else. To top it off, talked to manager - I'm not one to ask for comps. Bill comes out and charge to card was $30 more than our bill. Said they ran wrong table. Wow just wow. starts at the top. read more

Daughters Birthday dinner. Everyone's food arrived at same time, except my daughter's. Server explained 'another server must have stolen it off the shelf". 15 minutes later, everyone has finished eating, daughter still waiting. I requested the manager. Food arrives, manager approaches. I requested my daughter's dinner be comped since it arrived after everyone else had finished. Manager gets snippy and says "I can take a dollar or 2 off, since she's eating out now" I asked if a "dollar or 2 is acceptable for her food arriving after everyone else had finished, I can't even believe we're negotiating this" She said "I'll see what I can do." I understand that prices nationwide have increased due to inflation but $26 for chicken mudiga and every other chicken dish they serve is ridiculous. Their recent menu "change" is really just them increasing prices. While their food has always been pretty good, the prices don't mirror the quality. If you go there just stick with the pizza or go during lunch, that's the only way you'll get your moneys worth. read more

Terrible food and service. Ordered desserts for delivery and food was poorly put together and was missing half the order. Called the restaurant and all I got was the delivery person signed for it. May have not looked in the bag and don't necessarily see a delivery person taking part of the order for themselves. Bella Milano took no responsibility for food that was almost inedible. We had not been here in a while and it is clear this restaurant is not what it use to be. Bartender (Amy , I think) was bothered by customers who arrived an hour before closing and was too busy cleaning up to serve customers at the bar. Then, to top it off, she ate a salad while we were waiting for our food right in front of us. Not sure what she was picking on her nose, guessing it was a nose stud nose ring, but don't pick at it in front of customers. Food didn't matter after dealing with her. I've been to Bella Milano tons of times over the years. So disappointed this trip. To the point that my husband vows to never go back. The lettuce was terribly wilted. Like we got the bottom of the bowl. Filled will soggy salad. We ordered beef Milano, which is the dinner I always order. The sauce was orange. Not white like previous times I've ordered this. They obviously used a different type of cheese. The mushrooms were cold. The sauce was a weird consistency. Not the yummy creamy sauce I'm used to. My beef was either overcooked, or was sitting under the heater too long. My husband ordered the grouper special for $23. They certainly could have given him a bigger piece of fish. Very small piece of grouper on rice. The manager came around and asked how our meal was. In her defense, my husband told her it was fine. We came here opening day. I had the intentions of going to Egg and I but they were packed and we walked down to see when Bella opened. Surprise. Opening Day! I love the ambiance of this place. The wall fixtures, the meeting rooms, the bar. I see this as being a good after work spot. I ended up putting the wrong name on the wrong label. The picture with peas is the Mostaccioli Milano: Penne pasta in house made meat and cream sauce with peas, prosciutto ham and fresh mushrooms. I was so excited when I ordered this but was disappointed when it ended up more of a rose cream souse instead of more like an alfredo. My friends ordered Pasta Pesce and the Chicken Stasilli. Both of theirs was way better. The Chicken Stasilli: Lightly breaded, deep-fried then sauteed in a white wine lemon butter sauce with garlic, fresh mushrooms and broccoli. I however didn't like that mushrooms and broccoli was paired with the chicken the way it was. It was different but still decent. The Pasta Pesce: Linguini pasta in an oil, butter, garlic, cream sauce with shrimp, scallops, clams and crabmeat with fresh mushrooms. Complete Seafood Heaven. So fresh. I love it. It as a whole was very well thought of it. Came back and ordered the BELLA MEDITERRANEO: Mushrooms, Artichoke Hearts, Minced Garlic, Mozzarella and Feta Cheeses, Basil Pesto, House-Made Pizza Sauce. It was really good. I've never had Feta cheese on a pizza before. We took this pizza to go over to Global Brew on their opening bar and had pizza with a ton of beer. Apparently, we didn't have any of the problems that other diners have had. Hubby and I stopped in for lunch during the week and were very happy. I started with a very tasty, and we'll dressed Bloody Mary. We then split the fish tacos on the appetizer menu, which were SO good. There were 3 of them, so a slight tussle broke out at the table... Anyway, we split a Caesar Salad that they put on 2 plates in the kitchen. Not sure why... It was good, but hubby put his anchovy on my plate which was FINE by me! Bella Milano has provided me over 10+ great experiences, but Wednesday night they went ABOVE and BEYOND for our party. After having difficulties at another restaurant, Bella Milano was more than happy and willing to accommodate our party of nine, despite us calling and arriving only 30-40 minutes before close. The waitress took very good care of us, and was happy to provide great service, despite it causing her to work late. The staff did not have to say yes to our large party so close to closing time, but in doing so they provided a great dining experience for my girlfriend to celebrate her 21st birthday with her family. How Bella Milano treated us after a rough start to our night will not soon be forgotten! read more

Bella Millano has been great and awful over the years. Sadly, the past year has been mostly on the awful side. Last night was our last night. We ordered the crab stuffed mushrooms and whiskey sprouts to test the waters. Horrible, I've fed my cat better seafood than the contents of the leathery mushroom caps swimming in gelatinous tomato goo. Twenty percent of the time the whisky sprouts are off the charts great but sadly this was one of the 80%. They warmed some bottled dressing and added sprouts, they should take the word bacon out of the description because you won't find any unless you complain. We usually complain to management because this place was great and we want a good restaurant in the area. We did not complain on this occasion. We are tired and capitulate. I went with a group of 7 on a Monday night and got right in. Service was pretty quick. Our server was experienced but I wouldn't call her friendly. I was a server so I'm picky anyway, but I had to quiet everyone else at the table from commenting on her impatience. Otherwise, the food came out quickly and was absolutely delicious. I got the pork chop and it was phenomenal. Pretty nice atmosphere, quiet and intimate and a good date spot. Nothing particularly unique but perfect for a quiet night out. read more

Seated no silver no napkins drink order arrived with no cocktail napkins. Appetizer arrived and included a large piece of plastic standing up in the middle of the spinach dip. Tasty, dip not plastic. Entrees arrived nicely presented but Luke warm to cold (steak). Our server worked alone despite obvious over staffing. Food tasty for cold steak house salad tasty but warm (tossed salad). This place is not worth the time or trouble. Years ago ate at the Edwardsville location same issues. I ate lunch at Bella Milano today. Really nice place! I couldn't believe I was in O'Fallon, IL. I ordered the baked mostaccioli with a small salad. My lunch date ordered the Chicken Stasilli with a small salad. Both of us felt the salad was slightly overdressed but it had a great dressing. We both enjoyed our meals A LOT! I took half of my mostaccioli with me it was so large. Also the bread they serve before the meal was excellent. We are going to add this to our lunch rotation because it was really excellent! There are a lot of wonderful Italian places in St. Louis and it certainly does not exceed some of the better ones but if you are in the metro east this is really a good find especially for the lunch menu! For me 5 stars means it's really above and beyond so I can't give it 5 but if I could give it 4.5 I would have! read more

We like Bella's and have eaten there for several years but have noticed some changes. Staff is still great but were overwhelmed the night we last visited when it got busy. The food was good as always but the portions seemed smaller than previous visits. Our orders, toasted ravioli, awesome, love it. Spaghetti and meatballs, lots of noodles two meatballs, lasagne, lots of cheese not much else, tasted great though. Finally the bread was good/bad, the loaf not overcooked was great along with the butter the other loaf was ok. As it got busy it took 15 minutes to get our bill and they forgot a couple of take away boxes. Bathrooms, need a little more attention.
