Food was very good. I had the special, it was a stuffed veal chop. Tasty, plenty of the entrees, but the appetizers were a little skimpy. There were 4 of us and ordered the soft shell crab (1of them) fresh mozzarella (3 of them) and shrimp (3 of them) For the entrees my wife had the Chilean sea bass special. 4 of us went to dinner. No wait and the waiters were accommodating and personable. I thought the prices were steep though. $360 for 4 people without any cocktails. Pretty sure we were charged for every cola, dont know how else it could've been this pricey, someone said earlier...Tribeca prices but not Tribeca overhead. Overall I gave it a 2 because of the cost. THIS PLACE SHOULD HAVE NO STARS! The sauce was watery and looked like Olive Garden and our food was so salty we couldn't even eat It, we feel there had to be a mistake because we were sweating salt for two days and drinking so much water because our mouths were so dry. This was the WORST $60 i ever spent. We believe someone accidentally dropped a salt shaker in our food because there is NO way the food was supposed to taste that way. Once we ordered sodas instead of drinks we magically had no server except the host and a lady who came once. We felt really disrespected, we are both in the restaurant business and my fiancé is a restaurant manager and she couldn't believe how we were being treated. Never in my life have i felt like such a burden in a restaurant( mind you It was only 720 when we sat) i really wish we said something because we tried to contact them the next day and could not get anyone. Place is nice inside if you overlook the cobwebs on the lights on the walls. Stuffed artichoke was stuffed with salt soup. I sent it back and the owners daughter brings it back to me with no stuffing and burnt. I send it back again and she told me she took it off the check. When they should take it off the menu. For a local, this place is a great spot. It does get crowded on Friday and Saturday nights so I try to avoid those nights as much as possible, as the restaurant itself isn't that large in size. The owners are always so friendly and warm. We like to go on Sunday's or even on Monday nights when the owner cooks. The baked clams to start are good, but pretty small. I once got the chopped salad, but wouldn't get that again. Nothing really comes in it and it's just not worth it. Plain tasting and not worth the money. Their chicken parmigiana is one of my favorite dishes. I always ask for the cheese to come well done, but that's just my own preference. Excellent choice and highly recommend. Their chicken scap. is mediocre. I would try it again, but the last time we ordered a full order it happened to have been quite dry. I love at the end of your meal when they give you these Italian biscottis. Definitely makes the dinner that much better. They don't rush you and you do feel very relaxed there. I will NEVER return to this place, for several reasons: 1. Service was TERRIBLE - and for this I blame the owner. None of the staff members were trained, not even in the most basic way. For example: - before we were finished eating each of our courses, bus boys kept trying to remove our plates. Don't they see we are still eating??? Extremely rude, and made us eat in a rush / be stressed while we are trying to have a nice dinner. - the head waiter was perspiring so much, his sweat kept dripping everywhere. - in an attempt to clean the crumbs from the table, the bus boys spread them all over our laps like it was the right thing to do, did not apologize, or anything. 2. Prices are EXORBITANT. Red Snapper $39.95??!!! Why?? By comparison, Perry Street Restaurant, one of the finest restaurants in Manhattan, owned by renowned chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten, charges $36 for a Sea Bass entree made with the finest ingredients money can buy. Bella Notte's prices are completely unjustified, the food was mediocre at most, everything covered in cheese or oil. 3. Ambiance: this place is unbelievably LOUD, we had to shout across the table if we wanted to have a conversation (we ended up eating in silence and as fast as we could so we could get the hell out). Tables have no tablecloths or place mats. Tables are crammed and waiters keep jamming into tables. Not good. 3 of us Went on a friday night. Chicken scarparello was just roasted chicken and potatoes nothing else. No sauce or anything with it. Misnamed dish ! Chicken Marsala was oversauced but tasted ok. Chicken Milanese was bland and the breading tasted funny/stale. Red sauce for pasta sides was watery and tasted canned. Even bread was below average fresh. Just poor execution of simple italian dishes. Note: The specials were priced quite a bit higher and seemed "overpriced" so we stuck to menu. Many better choices in area. If you are a foodie or make italian food at home you will figure this place out quickly. We had enough time to look at the unreadable menu (black print on blue paper). $21 for most traditional pasta dishes. 22 for chicken parm! Some as high as $45. Maybe I went to NYC w/o remembering? $9 a glass for house Chardonnay & $14 for Sutter Home! Crazy. It's always crowded and I was shocked by not only the exorbitant prices but the uninspired menu. I threw my wife a surprise graduation party at Bella Notte in May 16. We invited about 45 people. I have been to this restaurant several times while in the smaller location and in the new space. It is always good, but this time the exceeded my expectations. I opted to rent the entire restaurant on a Sunday afternoon. They offered this option and have a catering menu for private parties. You get the room from about noon until about 4:30. I chose the highest food level which is all family style and included baked clams, mushrooms, and calamari as an antipasto. They were all prepared very well and flavorful. The meal also included a salad, rigatoni and family style entrees. These included veal, chicken, salmon, sausage and peppers, and I think one more chicken dish. The entrees were exceptional and there was a lot of food. They would have brought out more of we asked, but everyone was full and a lot of guests brought home food. After dinner, we had fruit plates which they let us bring in without charge. We also had homemade biscotti which we also brought in at no charge. Then came the Napoleon cake which was included in the package. This was not a generic free cake, but more like a nice dessert you get from a restaurant. The meal also included unlimited coffee and soda. They also served magnum bottles of white and red wine for about $60 each. The cost for food less wine was about $47 per person. We also had about 15 kids which were half price of the lowest food option( About $15) . The kids meal was chicken fingers and fries. Not frozen tenders but fresh cut and dried nicely cutlets. The owner and his wife were very friendly and accommodating. They really made the whole event very pleasant and stress free. I highly recommend this spot for anyone that wants a unique intimate experience for a family get together In my opinion, the food was much better than a generic Long Island catering hall. read more
