Aside from that, I've had some of the best in NYC and NJ, and usually if I go back to a pizza shop, one of my more favorite tests of quality is either a Sicilian pie, or more specifically a grandma pie. Never, in my entire 41 years on this planet, I have never seen a grandma pie made any other way than a thin Sicilian crust with tomato sauce, fresh mozzarella, basil, and olive oil drizzle to finish. I got some thicker crusted, upside down Sicilian pie that didn't have fresh mozzarella or proper sauce. Again - not sure what the chef or owner think that was, but it was not a grandma pie. Was matter-of-factly told with a lot of pompous arrogance that I had no idea what I was talking about and that this was a grandma pie. Didn't even ask for a refund. Threw this monstrosity out and just took a $20 lesson to know to never order from this place again.

The pizza was the standard uninspired average Jersey pie without anything memorable about the sauce, cheese, or crust. There was nothing particularly bad about it, but the pizza just didn't tantalize the tastebuds enough to warrant a repeat visit or recommendation to others from me, as there's other pizzerias in the area that make a better pie. The inside of the restaurant was pretty nice, so perhaps their wheelhouse for food is pasta dishes/sandwiches, or maybe I just caught them on an off day in the kitchen for pizza.

Someone nearby made a comment about the dough being like a cracker, and I have to agree -- it read more like cardboard to me. A few odds and ends: the pizza makers all look pretty serious, maybe even miserable. That may just be the heat back there.
