Visited this place on a on a recommendation by someone who eats here often but I wasn't as impressed as others and as those who recommended this place. The ambiance is great and being right on the water brings a certain level of enjoyment and upscale feel. The service was good but not over the top. We had a table of 10 and I went without water and some of my table as well. Felt and observed that the young lady helping us was more involved with other tables and probably working for that tip knowing our was an automatic 18% since we were a big group. Don't like when servers take this approach. As for the food it was just ok. I asked what the best or recommended plate the server said the pecan encrusted pork chop. Being originally from Texas I love anything southern like this and anything with pecans. Take a look at the picture, do you see any pecans encrusted anything ? Or any pecans on the plate? Yea neither do I..When I asked the server she said well it's not really pecan encrusted it's more like a flavor. Guess what? There was no pecans flavor. Overall, I probably wouldn't eat here again. You can't serve a plate that is described as pecan encrusted anything with no pecans. The reason for my two stars review is this place is not as advertised. It's probably a great place for locals and a go to and great for drinks because the rest of the table's drinks were good. However beyond that at least for me, I never experienced a 4 star review. read more

First off the ambiance is great, view of the water, a lot of charm. The food though, was a bit flat. I ordered the Pappardelle Allo Zafferano. Sounded delicious, saffron pasta and a shrimp bisque sauce. Looked delicious. Taste, not that delicious. Lacked seasoning, depth of flavor. I do want to go back and try some of their other dishes. Tried this spot for the first time and really enjoyed it. I sat outside, which was a nice touch. I ordered the steak skewer appetizer--it was incredibly flavorful and just melted in my mouth. This is a quaint waterfront Italian restaurant in downtown Benicia. The place is clean and organized and the service is friendly and efficient. We went with a birthday party of 8 people. With a reservation, we were seated immediately. But they did move us to the new room after a few minutes to give us a better view of the water and sunset. The food was decent yet not really remarkable. The spaghetti bolognese with sausage had a ton of sauce but few noodles or meat (besides the added sausage). I've been here twice now, the first time I ordered the teriyaki skirt steak, I was not a fan bc I'm not the biggest fan of teriyaki and the flavor was definitely overpowering on it The second time I ordered the lobster ravioli which was phenomenal; sooo delicious. The lamb tenderloin is very tender, juicy, and flavorful, that was ordered the 2nd time around bc of how good it is. For dessert we got bread pudding and the lavender orange crème brûlée the first time and tiramisu the 2nd. The Tiramisu is so delicious and amazing, not too strong especially with the coco powder. I wasn't a fan of the creme brulee only bc of the orange/lavender which I'm not a fan of and felt like I could definitely taste the citrus, I did not get to try the bread pudding but it smelled amazing! The service is quick, friendly, we went on a Saturday night and got sat immediately with no wait time, it's by the water, they have two sides of the restaurants I personally like the main one when you enter bc of the ambiance it's very low warm lighting. This restaurant is the same owners as Allegria in Napa so food was good, my waitress Jessica wasn't friendly at all as I made casual conversation about their sister restaurant and ruined her opportunity to get a tip very early on in the experience. What, no 6 stars? You know it was a fantastic dinner when we all got up the next morning, looked at each other and the first thing we talked about was how Great the dinner was!! Everything we had was absolutely great. Salads, the bread...all of it. The veal was awesome and huge portions. The rigatoni I will be thinking about all day. The parpadelli was delicious. Even with all of that, totally over eating, I had order envy when I saw the prime rib at the next table. The deserts were awesome! I had the bread pudding, amongst my favorite ever with huge scoop of gillato on top in a bowl of Carmel sauce. The staff was so great. Kristine was an awesome server. We joined my best friend and family for dinner Saturday night at Bella Siena in Benicia, CA. The restaurant was quit full, so with that said it was somewhat noisy like a cafeteria setting. The services that we received from waitress was very good. We started off with Crab Cakes & Calamari as our appetizer. They both were very delicious with a fresh seafood tastes. Then we proceeded to ordering our main meal ( Pappardelle Allo Zafferano & Chicken Parmigiana). The Pappardelle Allo Zafferano was prepared just right, enjoying all of the seafood flavors. Now the Chicken Parmigiana tasted salty to me; however, I usually do not use much salt in my meals. We finished the evening with bread pudding for dessert. It was not excellent, but good. Based on our experience, we felt their foods are a solid 4 stars rating. However, with the noisy levels being high, I cannot rank Bella Siena any higher. read more

"I'll admit, I was a bit hesitant to step into Bella Sienna since I'd never been, but at my wife's suggestion to try something new, we gave it a shot. I'm so glad we did! We started with the Calamari Fritti, which was excellent. My wife ordered the Ahi fish of the day salad--incredibly fresh and flavorful--while I went with the Chicken Panini. Both were delicious. A huge shoutout to our server, Trent. He was incredibly welcoming, took the time to walk us through the menu, and was very attentive to everything we needed. The service was top notch, fast, and we honestly felt really welcomed and wanted at this establishment right as we walked in all the way until we left. They are very open to many kinds of accommodations if you ask for it also. The interior is very beautiful and tidy! It gives a fine dining experience kind of feel. However, this is where I believe there were some discrepancies. The food was great, everything was flavorful, and came out piping out.. but for the price it wasn't really worth it. Our bill was over $100 for a panini that wasn't much of a panini at all.. more like a deli sandwich that had half a grill mark on it. The salmon was good but is it worth the $30? I was there with a group of friends who came from all different directions (Sacramento, Gilroy,Hollister and San Jose) to meet in Benicia for lunch. Loved the view of Carquinez Strait from our table. It was my first time going to Bella Siena and it did not disappoint. It was pretty busy, but we were seated on the outdoor dining area. Our server, Molly, had great energy and was so friendly. We were served warm bread and that was a great starter. We weren't sure what to order so it took us some time to put in our order. We ended up getting a Caesar Salad and Calamari as our appetizers. The Caesar salad comes with anchovies on top, so be sure to ask them to remove them if you're not into that sort of thing! But our salad and calamari were delicious. We read the reviews and came for the sunset view and food! My bf booked reservations in the afternoon for the 6:30 Dinner Slot. And yes, even with reservations, we had to wait 30 minutes. It was very busy. If you come early, a few things you could do to wait would be walk the downtown area and check out nearby shops and community garden. Shops did close early, and it was dark by 6pm. So you might just also wait at the restaurant. Since we did have some more time, we saw the menu outside. Me and my bf contemplated our 1 appetizer and 2 dinner entrees. I ended up ordering this delicious risotto that was so creamy and lemony. My bf ordered the seafood pasta which had lots of mussels in it. Not a lot of pasta, but a lot of mussels. And for appetizer some tomatoes on bread. I forgot the name of it. Then we ordered a hot tea, and a coffee. Yes to coming back here again. I loved their risotto. read more

My new favorite go-to for a nice dinner out for a handful of reasons: 1. Food - it's simply so good. Their menu is a great size and offers a lot of different options. Each dish comes out piping hot and delicious and you can tell they use fresh ingredients. 2. Drinks - their cocktails... delicious. Love the lavender gin cocktail (blanking on the name of it) but it's so good and I get it every time. 3. Atmosphere - amazing. If you are lucky enough to get a table close to the windows, the water views are awesome. Definitely recommend coming during sunset - it is a vibe. 4. This is a great restaurant. Even though I came in the evening, you could tell that the views during the day are amazing and even at night it looked romantic. The food was good too, I appreciated that they had mocktails and the complimentary bread and sun-dried tomato dip were both very good, as was my ravioli dish and tiramisu. Even though it's somewhat out of my way I think I'll try it with my husband next. Our server was very nice too and gracious. Great place to get togeher with a friend or a romantic date night. The restaurant was big, busy, and pretty clean. The staff was very nice and just the right level of attentive. 5 stars for the front of the house staff! The food all came out pretty quickly considering how busy it was. Cant' beat the view from inside... the location is premium! The men's restroom was really gross, apparently, but the women's restroom was fine. The food was the big letdown here. I was excited to try this place because it's rated so highly.... but what a disappointment! The bread that they brought to our table was sooo very dry. Even the olive oil couldn't save it... with whatever was mixed in the oil (not good). The cocktail was nice (good job bartender!). The crab cakes were hot and crispy but mainly consisted of breadcrumbs... just a hint of crab and no visible pieces of crab (it was all mush)... the LaCroix of crab cakes. The salad with the crab cakes had a nice sesame oil/rice wine vinegar-type dressing but the vegetables were so soggy, like they'd just been sitting in the dressing for hours. The lobster ravioli was undercooked. I should have taken a picture of the midsection to show the raw pasta layer. But the shrimp and sauce for the ravioli were delicious, thankfully. The chicken parm wasn't very flavorful at all... the sauce didn't taste layered and developed, but like a sauce you'd get straight out of a jar.... and the food was just dumped on the plate. We also didn't have spoons at all, and it helps to have a spoon for wildly-plated pasta. My son said the fries were great but the chicken nuggets were soft. The top layer of the Tiramisu tasted sour in a weird/bad way and had very little flavor, so we didn't even finish it. The chocolate mousse was just okay. The crumble was the best dessert of the night, but the fruit was so mushy (needs to be cut into larger chunks) and they didn't need to add the honey on top because it made the dessert far too sweet when it really needed more acid to balance the sweetness of the crumble. $200 for a mediocre meal. Maybe it's 4.3 stars in Benicia but it's a San Francisco/Oakland 3... at best. When Gary Danko, Petit Crenn, and State Bird rate as 4.5+, there's no way this restaurant could ever be a 4.3 based on this meal. I've had better food from the Trader Joe's freezer section. Don't get tricked by the look of the dishes. They're MID. read more

The restaurant was packed on a Saturday night and lucky for us we were able to get seated in their updated back room. Our waiter was great and food was amazing. We came here for a family dinner and left deeply disappointed--and concerned for our health. The chicken parmigiana tasted spoiled. We had multiple people in our party try it to confirm and everyone agreed it was off. We sent it back and ordered the bolognese. The server insisted everything is made fresh and seemed skeptical of our concern. She later suggested it might've been the burrata, but we eat burrata regularly--it was clearly more than that. Whether it was the chicken or the sauce, something was wrong. Then came the bolognese--and it had the same bad taste. At that point, we were convinced something in the marinara or base sauce was spoiled. We asked if they used any strong herbs, but the flavor was less "strong" and more rancid. Concerned about getting sick, we didn't touch it and sent that back too. No apology. No effort to fix the situation. While they did take the items off the bill, the service was indifferent and slow, and no one seemed to take our concerns seriously. I genuinely wish the kitchen staff had tasted the food themselves--it would've cleared up whether this was intentional or a serious issue with spoilage. This wasn't a bad meal--it was a food safety issue. I wouldn't risk eating here again, and I suggest others think twice before doing so. This place served us food that may have been spoiled--potentially dangerous. I sincerely hope no one gets food poisoning from dining here, but based on our experience, it's a real risk. This was the 2nd time we were there. We ordered the same 2 things as the last time, which was 2 ribeyes and 2 teriyaki skirt steaks. Un fortunately we were all disappointed in both. The teriyaki skirt steak was dry and tough. My ribeye seemed to taste good. But I only ate 1/3 of it as my stomach was t feeling good. I ended up going to the restroom at the restaurant and threw up my whole dinner. We were very disappointed but didn't want to send the food back or say anything to our waiter because he was awesome. TERRIFIC! We went on Easter Sunday for late lunch at 2:00pm with a group of 11. Seated as soon as we checked in, not worried about the 4 in our party not quite there yet. Everyone was served water and bread and olive oil garlic dip :) We brought Champagne to share, they got us standing ice buckets and brought champagne glasses right away. Staff was on point on this busy day. Restaurant was almost full inside, outside and in the private large group space inside. They had plenty of staff that were extremely attentive to all their customers. Cant say enough good things about them all from the front door to the back of the house! They paced our group well, offering appetizers to share, then giving us plenty of time to make up our mind for our orders. our water glasses were kept full, any request for more bread, just butter was received and delivered. Our food came out hot and all at almost the same time for a table this large. No one left without their leftovers! Or belonged to the clean plate club :) I appreciated that the staff boxed our leftovers at the table for us, then bussed our dirty dishes away. Our server was awesome! That's where it ends. Drinks were mid. I never complain and had to actually complain about how bad mine was. Not even remotely correctly mixed. They were busy but certainly not overwhelming enough to warrant an hour wait for entrees. The food was the right temperature and tasted fine but nothing exceptional honestly. Then came the bill.
