I had a nice lunch here on Monday! Service - very good. Staff was friendly and attentive during the busy lunch hour. Food - pretty awesome burger!! Although, it didn't come as described on the menu which isn't necessarily a bad thing. I ordered a whiskey burger which we assumed would be a bbq sauce of sorts. I should have asked. It was sauceless, aside from a minute spread of chipotle mayo on each bun. I definitely added more. There was a pickle inside, not mentioned on the menu. I removed it but.... bleh, pickle essence!! There was also a thick cut slice of deli ham along with the burger patty and maple bacon, a thick slab of authentic cheddar, as well as a single fat onion ring adorning the top of the burger. What a nice surprise and fun touch!! Yam fries were "swizzle" cut which made for a different yam devouring experience. I think my preference is standard cut but the swizzle presents well. My friend ordered a sun dried tomato, artichoke parmesan pasta dish and it was quite tasty, I stole a few bites ;) Overall, good lunch date experience. Pricing wasn't as bad as people described. the service has always been pretty good, but my main concern with this place is the kitchen/kitchen staff. i've been here multiple times, and the food's been pretty good for the most part, but there have been a few times where i haven't been satisfied. once, i found huge pieces of egg shells in my eggs benny. i'm talking HUGE, could have choked on them and died if i didn't luckily see them and pick them out/stop eating. i pointed it out to our waiter, and he apologized profusely and even gave me my meal for free, which was really nice with him (hence my point from before - amazing waiters/waitresses, shitty kitchen staff). another problem i encountered with the kitchen staff is when i was having brunch with one of my friends, and he requested that the egg yolk on his eggs benny be served soft instead of medium (because they specified on the menu that all eggs bennys are made with medium-poached eggs for some reason). the waitress said she'd ask the kitchen staff if that were possible, went to go ask them, and came back and informed us that wasn't possible. uhhh... really? do they have pre-made molds back there for their eggs, and is the kitchen staff so lazy that they can't make them individually and serve the yolks soft, like they're supposed to be? other than the kitchen staff, the service has been pretty good for the most part, the patio is amazing (although it does get too hot at times) and great for people watching, since it's right on the sidewalk, and the meals aren't cheap, but reasonably priced. i discovered a bellagio by canada place, and personally, i like that one better, but this one isn't bad. read more

My friend and I were shopping on Robson, and decided to stop for a quick bite to eat. We wanted to venture out from the usual Cafe Crepe, so we settled on Bellagio Cafe. We sat out on the patio, which was too close to the road and the cars were quite distracting. However, the place was cute and welcoming. For dinner, I had the Greek Salad and my friend had the Baggio Pizza (olives, sun dried tomatoes, goat cheese and basil). I haven't been to this place in over a year because every time I went I was utterly unimpressed. The food is not worth the price, the staff is rude, the service is slow and the entire experience is not worth my lunch hour. I cannot believe how expensive it is considering what you are served. Last time I went it took forever for even our drinks to come. Once they did, they were very small and expensive. I managed to finish my drink in two or three decent sized gulps. A cafe / brunch spot across from the Van Art Gallery on Hornby with delicious coffee, decent food and poor table service. My friend had his eye on trying it as he noticed a few times that it was busy around lunch, so we came for Sunday brunch today. Our servers were kind, but very inattentive to us and to all tables. We had to flag them down a few times for our coffees and waters, and we waited about 45 minutes before we were served our dishes. My growling tummy was very unimpressed. I had the White Tuscan Frittata with spinach and mushrooms, which was quite bland. Hash browns were well-seasoned and crispy. My friends had the Italian Omelet and the Full Bellaggio Breakfast, which they seemed to enjoy. If I could offer one suggestion, it would be to increase staffing for busy hours, like Sunday brunches... then I might consider coming back. read more

This location is best for people watching specially on a sunny summer Sunday when catching up with fellow yelp mates. We were sat outside overlooking the side of the Art Gallery and watching the action happening on the sidewalk. The decor is average and the service was timely and to the point. I tried the eggs Benedict with Ham which was just ok, nothing to write home about. I also ordered an Earl Grey tea which was nicely presented in a metal teapot and matching cup and saucer. This a ok restaurant. I went with my colleagues for a lunch and some of them did not really approve the food. I had "exotica salad" with salmon instead of chicken. A friend of mine didn't like the dressing, but it was good enough for me. The salad itself was ok and the salmon was tasting good, but the smell of fish was really strong and i wasn't very comfortable with that. The menu has a large amount of options which wasn't a bad thing for us since we were a big group and there was enough option for everybody. We wanted to stop for dinner somewhere before going to the nearby theatre for a mid-evening movie and I suggested this place because the other one on the waterfront was so good the last time mom and I went. So after a quick look at the outdoor display menu we went in. The street was too noisy at that time of day so we sat inside and it was much more pleasant. There was one surprise, however... Red duct-tape on the banquettes? Someone needs to do a little remodeling! There was red tape on both seats. A little offputting but we thought we'd see if the food was better than appearances. As it was before 6pm we decided to do more of a snacky dinner and went with sharing five appetizers. The prosciutto and goat cheese flatbread was okay, too much wilted arugula and not enough prosciutto, goat cheese or balsamic drizzle. The smoked salmon flatbread was delicious and will definitely be ordered again (with extra capers next time). I need to find crispy capers like that somewhere...The honey garlic wings were quite nice - good flavour, lots of sauce and properly cooked so they were still juicy. The calamari was great, with just the right amount of breading, flavour, and love the dip sauce. The prawns were nice, could have used a few more to go with the two delicious sauces because the prawns themselves were good too! All in all, we will go back but I definitely suggest they do something about that tape... read more

We were a bit hesitant after reading the reviews but our visit for lunch turned out to be pretty good -- 3.5. Service was attentive and the food pretty good. Missing the lunch hour may have been the reason for better service than what others reported. We ordered a couple pasta dishes and sandwich. The sandwiches are made using pizza crust so it was a nice change. Prices may seem a bit high to some but being that it's located in downtown, we expected these are on par with other restaurants. If we're back in town again and our hotel was close by, we'd come back. read more

We needed to get breakfast quickly on a Sunday morning. We had to check out of our hotel and get to the airport early enough to make a flight back to L.A.. Again, we asked the guy at the desk in the hotel where to get a good, and fast breakfast. This was his suggestion after we said no to the in hotel dining option. Again, it was a good suggestion. The service was very prompt and quite helpful. The atmosphere nice with old encyclopedias stacked everywhere. My husband had the healthy breakfast with fruit, yogurt and more fruit and toast. I had the unhealthy but totally delicious French toast. The French toast was made with actual French bread sliced moderately thick. It was great! And my healthy husband decided that he would split it with me after all. The coffee was also good, and the refills were quick in coming. The Bellaggio is a comfortable restaurant with excellent service. The waiters were knowledgeable and engaging throughout the dining experience. The lunch menu has depth and something for everyone. I ordered the tuna sandwich and was generally impressed. The french fries could have been a bit more seasoned and crispier. Coffee service was solid. A great place for a quick lunch! I had the Neptune Benedict (= Eggs Benedict + wild salmon) for breakfast and a decent cup of coffee. Service was brisk and very friendly and I was lucky to get in just before the real rush started -- this is obviously a popular place for groups of friends to meet before doing something else in the downtown area (in fact, I recognized quite a few of my fellow diners later on at the Vancouver Art Gallery, just across the street). The meal itself was delicious and the right temperature and quantity -- enough to make you feel you've had your money's worth without becoming a digestive burden for the rest of the day. One word of caution: in cold or wet weather, try to avoid getting a table near the door. There's nothing at all to break the intense draft every time someone enters or leaves. read more

I went here for breakfast with my husband. It wasn't overly busy so we were able to get a table with a great view of the water. Unfortunately, the view was the only thing I liked. We started with bloody marys. About five minutes after receiving the drinks, the bartender rushed out because he realized that he forgot to put alcohol in one of them (but they were so weak that you couldn't tell which one had the alcohol!) We ordered the smoked salmon benedict and it was probably the worst breakfast I've ever eaten in a restaurant. One egg was so undercooked that the whites were almost pure liquid, and the other was hard-boiled with the yolk cooked entirely through. The hollandaise was disgusting and actually tasted sticky sweet like lemon icing! However, the home-fried potatoes were actually pretty tasty so the one star is for that. If you want to go to a restaurant where you can watch servers with their, err, butt cheeks hanging out of their dresses texting their friends instead of paying attention to customers, go here. Had breakfast here on several mornings on a recent trip to Vancouver. Great service, great price, nice large portions turned out quickly by the kitchen. My friend and I decided to check this place out as it was in front of the art gallery where our work event was held. There was a nice little patio and it was sunny out so we decided to give it a go. We were greeted by a very pleasant gentleman and our server got us our waters right away. From 2:30-6 they had half off on appies so we ordered the flatbread and calamari. We also ordered a drinks; I ordered the pacific sea martini, my friend, some sangria I believe. The flatbread didn't have a lot of flavour but the calamari was quite tasty. My martini was very good and my friend really enjoyed hers. Our server was very attentive and pleasant so nothing to complain about in that department. Overall, the service was good, food was good, and the atmosphere completes my good experience at Bellagio Cafe. I would come back again but would not order the flatbread again. read more

Staff was nice but the place seemed understaffed for a number of reasons - took a while for anyone to notice me when I walked in, took about 10 minutes before the waiter came around to our table, another 5 before getting some waters, 25 min to get our food after ordering, another minute for some silverware (after food was served), didn't have time to around and how everything was. It was quiet, had piles of travel books strewn around and had a couple of big-screens playing picturesque looping DVDs of helicopter views around Italy. I wasn't holding my breath when we ordered. I shouldn't have been so hasty to think poorly of this place! Wow! The food was great, the servers couldn't have been more friendly and it wasn't expensive. --- One year later, we returned on request of my parents and I was kicking myself for allowing this place to fall from my list of go-to's. I was searching for breakfast and after walking around for an hour, I spotted this busy Cafe patio with a 'value breakfast' sign posted outside. I ordered the value breakfast and a mimosa. It was all good except when I received the bill, I was very disappointed to see that the mimosa cost as much as the breakfast. It came in a tiny little glass and was not good value at all. What an opportunity to knock it out of the park that was absolutely ruined by witnessing how things are actually run behind the scenes. We came here during vacation to Vancouver at the recommendation of a local. Overall, the food was actually very good - it was healthy with hearty portions, and overall very flavorful. We sat next to the kitchen during lunch hour, and from the moment we sat down, we watched one of the waiters (who happened to be ours, potentially a manager?) speak down to to the other staff in a completely inappropriate manner. The waitstaff was completely disorganized - we watched as several dishes sat ready to go to tables for 10+ minutes, and several tables with dirty dishes/uneaten food were unattended to. Instead of running the food or helping clear tables, the rude waiter consistently yelled at the waitresses and the kitchen staff, demanding a status on dishes and lecturing them on how to do their jobs. We waited for our meal for close to 30 minutes, and when our meals finally came, one dish came significantly before another - and we were informed it was because our waiter forgot to put the second dish in, but "hopefully that's okay because we're tourists, so that means we have all the time in the world on our hands, right?." A shame that great food goes to waste with rude staff. read more

A subpar dining experience. First, our large group had reservations yet they weren't ready for us. Second, we WAITED for over 20 minutes for anyone to come and take our drink order. Third, we asked in the beginning to separate the checks. The waitress said it wouldn't be a problem to do it at the end. Just wait... Fourth, we WAITED and WAITED and WAITED for our food. Other tables were getting served and were seated after us. Surprisingly the food tasted good yet the WAIT was disappointing. When the bill arrived we asked to pay separately and the waitress obliged yet failed to add in the tax. When it was all said and done we ended up paying more than we should. We asked to speak with the manager and she didn't even attempt to come to the table. Inexcusable!! Not a positive experience and the management needs to do a better job with managing the kitchen. I have been here for lunch and dinner as I got a gift card from a friend. The location is great and the patio is perfect for people watching. The food is okay. II like their lunch deals and dishes for soup, sandwiches and salads. However, we had pizza there for dinner and it did not feel fresh. The service is alright and I like books for decor though they don't have much of a system. I will be back when I am in the area and need a bite or for brunch which seems to be a favourite for many folks here. read more

Dined here with a party of 4. We had dinner and sat on their heated patio. The view is fantastic and the service is excellent. We had the warm seafood salad, carbonara and pizza and the mushroom ravioli. We then had their pistachio ice cream, tiramisu and chocolate calzone. Everything was beautifully made and delicious! This place used to be my favourite to go to for my lunch breaks. It just keeps getting worse. The last time me and my colleagues ordered from here October 30, 2013 there was a metal piece in my manager's food (how dangerous). So I called them to let them know. They apologized and said they will send a gift card to my manager. A month after no gift card came. So I stopped by and told them the issue. Couple of days after, they called me and send they will send it this time. A month and a half after the incident, the gift card came in the mail, doesn't say anywhere how much it is. So I went on their website and there is no way I can find how much it is. I called them and they said their system is down. They will get the manager to call me. That was 2 weeks ago. No one has called me back yet. I called today and their hostess is the worst. Doesn't know anything about gift cards. I asked to talk to the manager and she just sounded like, she's not really sure what she's doing. I'm not even after this Gift Card. It's just horrible customer service. If you say you're going to follow up, you have to do it. Don't make your customer wait for nothing. Argh! read more
