I was introduced to this place a couple years ago by a friend and I quickly became a fan. I absolutely love the spinach dip. It's the best I've ever had and I've had it at many a place. Tonight I chose the Ruggles Green Goat Cheese Salad and that too was good. I should have asked for no almonds because I know I hate nuts in my salads, but besides that the salad was good. Just went here on a whim and wow! This place is definitely fresh. They have a good variety, I got the spicy fish tacos and they were really good. I also tried the all natural pepperoni pizza and the mariana sauce that it has was to die for. Seriously one of the best pizzas I've ever had. Two pastas for take out and both lacked any true flavor. The turkey meatball pasta was so disgusting, truly disgusting, and I couldn't finish my one bite. It was bland to say the least and tasted like it had been reheated. The "spicy" chicken pasta had zero spice factor and the chicken was shredded parts. Not sure what happened to the quality of Ruggles. I'm a heights resident who wants to support local and see Ruggles Heights succeed, but clearly that will not happen if they continue to serve poor quality dishes. read more

I love this place! The food is so good and they have healthy options. My favorite healthy option is the shrimp tacos. My non healthy favorite is the pizza. They are so good!! And don't forget the dessert!! The bread pudding is delish! read more

This place is our after workout staple. I've never had a complaint about the food - and try to get something different every time! Service is great, the variety is better. Their quinoa salad is very refreshing, and I love how everything comes with side and garnishes....always giving you a medley of flavors, rather than just eating a chicken sandwich. I really like their food. It is tasty and made from good quality ingredients. Service is fast too. Its original parking was very, very small but they added an additional parking spot on 11th which is very convenient. However, it has the same problem as all Ruggles Greens I have checked: it is too loud. I do not know if it is the design of their places or what but, unless you go to an hour where there is not much people, it is way too loud and uncomfortable. read more

This was my first time at Ruggle's Green - The Heights (sad to hear Alabama was closed after dining there since the late very early 80's) . I was on a date, so I was able to choke silently when he paid for our two salads and 2 diet Cokes for $36+, lol. However, I have to say that this was probably the best big salad I have had in a long time. Extremely fresh, croutons were crunchy, but not brick-like (they didn't bust your veneers), the bacon dressing reminded me of my grandmothers wilted lettuce -- made from fresh greens from her depression garden and homemade bacon dressing, a dish made because they were poor that is one of those things you never get enough of. With the extras like boiled eggs, mushrooms, etc., I couldn't get enough and was full when I walked out. My date had a salad with fruit, grilled shrimp, and bacon dressing -- had great things to say as well. I knocked a star off due to the extremely high price . . . although I will say that it was really so good that I was okay. Had it been bad . . . I probably wouldn't have been as happy to pay that much. Sooo, if you can afford it, you WON'T be disappointed. Very fresh. read more

I placed an order for pickup online and first, it was correct so that went smoothly. Picked up in like 15 minutes, so great speed. I got the A burger with cheddar and regular fries, meat cooked medium well. It was more medium, which I don't mind. I always order a little "over" the way I like it cooked, because it never seems to be right, wherever you eat. Anyway, fries nice and rustic-cut and good portion, and the burger flavorful. The bun is a winner, nice quality bread that stands up to the burger instead of getting squashed or soaked in grease while waiting for pickup. This is my point, though, I don't need my burger greasy and runny (gross), so the meat quality at bellagreen seems good. It was topped with nice, fresh fixings as well - lettuce greens, red tomato, purple onion and homemade pickles. The only thing I'd change is the catsup, with was super super sweet. I tossed it and just added my own at home. Solid experience. I parked in back of restaurant, plenty of spaces, and the staff were attentive. Will be ordering their burger (and other things) again! Very plain breakfast. Omelet wasn't bad, but wasn't good either. Also, I don't consider putting a single strawberry split in half on top of pancakes to be "strawberry pancakes". It might have got 3 stars, but for $12 I expect a little more flavor. read more

Can't believe I haven't been here sooner, kicking myself for not making this a regular brunch spot! After a fabulous dining experience here this weekend, I will definitely be a frequent diner at Ruggles Green. I love the atmosphere and patio. The menu has something for everyone, gluten free and paleo options, indulgent options, and plenty of vegetarian or meat options (jalapeno bacon whatsup). I loved the almond flour lemon poppy-seed pancakes. They were everything a healthy pancake should be and more (tasted way more sinful than they really are). The whipped cream and strawberries were a perfect topping. The service was great, we arrived at 12:30 on the dot right when breakfast stops being served on Sundays but they were kind enough to still let us order off the breakfast menu. Also tried a few bites of the green eggs omelet which tasted like it had a spinach and artichoke filling which was crazy delicious. Potatoes were cooked perfectly too. Prices are reasonable compared to other brunch spots. Can't wait to come back to try more! read more

Less than satisfying. My husband and I stopped by for breakfast today. Since changing from Rugglesgreen to Bellagreen the breakfast menu has been reduced significantly. Portions are smaller. Choices very limited. I received one half a piece of toast with my omelet - come on now, a half a piece of toast? And it wasn't even toasted- it was grilled. Jam/jelly is no longer available so all you get is butter. Only sprouted wheat is available - no white bread or sourdough anymore. Only potatoes offered are 0'Brien potatoes. I feel Bellagreen is not committed to providing a complete breakfast experience. read more

For an order-at-the-counter spot, ruggles green is tasty. I ordered the crab omelette & the amount of crab inside the omelette was about the size of a pencil eraser so that sucked. But they do have decent vegan & healthy choice options for substituting grains, dairy, sugar, etc. read more

I have been going here since it opened in the heights and been going to Ruggles Green for years as I enjoy their gluten free menu. I love the food and the atmosphere. I've been enjoying the gluten free pizza thinking that Ruggles Green will pay special attention to my gluten free requirements. However, tonight I watched them make my pizza and I was shocked. Although the ingredients don't have gluten, they make zero attempt to separate any of the preparation areas or tools. I really want to like this place- staff nice and very on it! Tables cleaned right away and everyone wants to please. My hubby and child always order burgers- simple enough. Burgers are a bit too overcooked but fries are amazingly good. I always order the different kale salads, but the first one was overly salty to the point that I could barely eat it and today I ordered another kale salad where the dressing was avocado mixed with lemon juice- it was good but only had one strawberry cut in half and a few mango pieces that were dried and rehydrated- not fresh because I could taste the sweetness of the dried fruit- this is not too bad. The dressing of lemon juice was very sharp- just avocado and lemon juice- maybe a little sugar might have mellowed it a bit- but my tongue hurts this evening from it- too much citric acid without balance. read more

After reading all of the wonderful reviews, I decided to give Ruggles Green a chance after driving by it for years. I was excited to see they had various veggie options so I went with the veggie wrap and sweet potato fries. I don't know if I just got unlucky, but the food and experience left a lot to be desired. I called in a to-go order and was told it would be ready in 10-15 minutes. I figured it would be ready by the time I arrived. Nope. It took them 40 minutes to get this veggie wrap to me. A veggie wrap! I would've been able to overlook the wait if the veggie wrap was awesome but it was subpar, at best. It looked like something you would get pre-packaged from the grocery store and it was very underwhelming in taste. It was also jam packed with spinach and very little of anything else. Definitely not worth a 40 minute wait. This is the first and last time that I will visit this Ruggles Green. It was a big letdown for me, unfortunately. read more

I was excited to find out a Ruggles Green opened in the Heights. Great location, beautiful decor, cute outdoor seating, courteous service, and of course, yummy food! Same menu as the other locations. Love the hemp empanadas! Took my in-laws here, and they loved it too. Parking can become a challenge, especially during the dinner rush. read more

The food here is good but the service needs to be better managed. Twice in the last couple of months I've ordered the Atlantic salmon salad to go and twice they've sent me out with the wrong order. Once it was a completely different salad containing items I'm allergic to, and this weekend they left the salmon completely out of the salad. When I called to tell them about the errors, both times they refused to deliver the corrected items. We had to drive all the way back to correct their mistake, twice. Wasn't feeling well, recently moved into the area and needed some soup and veggies. Got takeout from here and was very happy!!!! The minestrone was fantastic. Flavorful, with lots of veggies. I love that it's gluten free!!! I also got the butter lettuce wedge salad (no bacon) and WOW. BEST WEDGE SALAD EVER!!! The lettuce was fantastic (why doesn't everyone use butter lettuce for wedge salads? Genius!), there were big delicious chunks of tomato and avocado, and the dressing was on the side, allowing me to control the amount of dressing I wanted. So great, I'll be back! read more

I recently moved to the Heights and have been dining here more often, the food at this location isn't as good as the one on W. Alabama, though most wouldn't notice the difference. My favorite dish is the Salmon Pasta, which is also gluten free! The staff at this location are always very friendly and accommodating. Parking can be a hassle during peak hours but there are three different lots available to park, more than enough in my opinion. They have a great gluten free carrot cake, it is SO delicious. read more

Ruggles is one of my favorite if not the fav restaurant in the heights. Why? First of all, the decor and style of the building blends very well with the traditional height style. It's absolutely beautiful! Second, the food is always good and consistent. Now I will say the portion sizes are over the top, but hey if you like leftovers. The grilled fish tacos are my go to, but I've also had salads that ate really good. My friend just said they have the best Mac and cheese. Anyway, this is def a restaurant I would recommend.
