**First timer at Bellas I placed an order for the chicken tenders and fries for my son, and the food was tasty. Pretty much what is expected of an American food, fast food restaurant. As for myself, I ordered the slider pack with bacon and blue cheese sauce added. I can only think that the trade mark of the restaurant was a super saucy slider, so I won't knock the style. It just wasn't my style. The burger was good, I did read the reviews first, so I selected well done to be safe, and it was what one would expect of a fried fast food joint. Updating this review since my last trip here proved even more unpleasant than receiving the hollow mozzarella sticks pictured from my last review. I had an important event to attend last week and called 30min in advance to place a small order (burger and fries) over the phone, I was told it would take 15 minutes to make so I informed them I was 30min away. When I got there, they hadn't even started it and it ended up taking an additional 30min, making me late to a very important event that night. As soon as I saw them wrapping up the burger, I politely asked "Could I please just grab my burger? I really have to go." The manager(?) gave me a nasty look and silently turned around to grab my burger and took a bag of fries from someone else's bag, which I didn't ask him to do, finally handing me the order I had placed over an hour ago on the phone. The wait was ridiculous but I wasn't even that upset until the nasty look I received from the employee who gave me my order. I was very respectful during the entire wait despite how absurd it was, yet I was treated rudely. The place is only open for takeout and delivery during COVID. I went with the takeout option and ate it at the picnic table, with umbrella, that they have outside on the patio area. There is only one table out there and be advised, they only allow one person or group inside at a time to pick up or place an order. You don't make it very far into the restaurant. There are tables placed in a U-shape that only allow you inside the door about 6 feet. You pick your order up from a window out front, so you don't have to go back into the restaurant. There is a huge free parking lot right in front of the restaurant, which is located behind the main drag by the way. They have a wide selection of burgers there, or you can create your own with the toppings they available. They also have free Wifi available. The staff there is very friendly and helpful. I got the Bella Burger with fries. The burgers are very very small. Had me thinking, "Where's the beef?" The burger was tasty though and surprisingly filling. It had a lot of flavor to it. I ordered delivery via Door Dash. Delivery was very prompt. I've ordered from Bella's in the past and enjoyed their food. This time, not so much. I ordered a cheeseburger with lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, and Bella's sauce. They offer toasted or untoasted bun and how you want the burger cooked. I asked for a toasted bun and a medium cook on the burger. When I opened the wrapper I almost laughed!! My toasted bun was literally a round black spot on the bun. It was not toasted on the inside and not on both sides either. I guess I was lucky they didn't toast both sides! The burger itself was extremely dry, chewy, small and thin! The toppings were generous but made it a complete mess to even pick up. The pickles were unevenly cut and too thick for my liking. After a few bites and messy hands, I threw it out. The food remains good, but we have noticed over the past six months or so that our orders tend to not be accurate once we get them home. New management clearly does not understand what the charm of Bella's burgers is. The atmosphere and decor is so plain and cold now, when it used to be so fun and exciting. They took away the small town vibes that brought basking ridge together as a community- like the pictures of customers on the wall. They used to always be playing good music, now it's completely silent. The prices have gone up immensely, and the food isn't even better- the fries now are very disappointing. Not to mention there were flies all over while we were trying to eat, and tools/equipment just out on the counter. They don't even bring your food to you when you eat in the restaurant anymore. Bella's is a town staple, and has so much potential. I just hope that the new owners care enough to restore what it was. read more

They overcooked my rare burger to well done which is a big no no. Although, if my burger was cooked to the temp I requested they would have received 5 stars. I cant think of many better burger joints than this one. Everything from the ease of ordering on yelp to picking it up in a neatly packed brown bag with all the sauces and toppings seperated was an absolute pleasure. The burgers are served on potato rolls which are my favorite. We ordered A double cheeseburger with bacon: It was overcooked but other than that delicious. It had great flavor in the meat and the bacon was perfect. A little crunchy and a little chewy. Black Bean Veggie Burger: Plain and delicious. We opted for pepper jack cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, and pickles. Onion Rings: Big thick home made rings. Could have used a little salt but easy add yourself. Was really good dipped in their house sauce. Mozzarella Sticks: These were also good. Crispy and cheesy even after a car ride home. Something I didn't order was a milkshake and as im writing this realized was a mistake. If I lived a little closer to this Bellas I would be a regular. My husband and I really enjoy Bella's. They have the most amazing French fries. I'm vegetarian and love the bean burger. My husband eats meat and enjoys the burgers. The staff couldn't be nicer. They always greet you with a big smile and also acknowledge you when you leave. I highly recommend Bella's! I see a reviewer gave them a one star because they are vegetarian and ordered chilli fries. They were upset that there was meat on their fries. Unless it says vegetarian one should always assume chilli has meat in it. It's not fair to give a one star because you don't know chili has meat in it. As a vegetarian you need to find out what something is before you order! read more

Once there, nice open communal atmosphere with wall-mounted TVs showing football games. Good vibe with 3 or 4 groups of people eating. Ordered bella burger to see how good they are + pulled pork slider. For sides, I asked the nice young man at the counter who recommended their onion rings as really good. So it was. Bella burger was above expectations! Being quite affordable at $5.49, it had juicy beef patty grilled to my specifications and had a great wholesome taste with slight kick from the special sauce, which I believe that like many other burger joints' "special sauce", are derivation of thousand island dressing. ^^ No complaints here though as I love that combination. Pulled pork sliders were a bit on the dry side meat-wise, and with no onion or anything it could've benefited from slightly more fat + sauce. I'm sure they would've given me a bit more bbq sauce had I asked though. Not bad but won't order again as there are so many other things to try. Onion rings - Oh boy, my son zeroed in on the piping hot RINGS! They were very tasty with full batter fried golden brown. Why am I drooling right now...? -_- He liked the rings better than his slider, dipping one after another in ketchup and chompin' 'em right down. So did I. A sugar cube on an ant hill for local kids on bicycles. Better when they are back in school. Very good burger and fries stop but not the best as advertised. Good people working there but this time the abundance of dumb teens without masks swamped the shoppes humble but competent crew. Glad to see them making money but the kids left the tables outside a mess and put a stain on this better burger place. We got burgers (awesome - like Shake Shack), onion rings (huge and tasty!), wings (hot n Smokey), chicken fingers and fries (Just ok per my 12year old. My son and I visited this off the beaten track place years ago. He was still only eating chicken fingers so that's quite a long time ago. We liked the place even though my burger was overcooked. My son liked his chicken fingers and the fries were outstanding. My wife and I, desperate for an excellent, quick, RARE burger, decided to stop in to see if there was an improvement. There was! We have visited four times in the last two months. Our burgers were cooked as we requested. The toppings are excellent. Sautéed onions, guac, jalapeños etc. Fries and onion rings are amazing. Only drawback is the noise level. Loud music, louder patrons. Eager to please staff. Good food prepared quickly and accurately. What more could you ask for? Lunch was crazy busy but definitely didn't wait to long to order to get our foods. We ordered the wings, salad and a milkshake. Wanted a light lunch so it was definitely a good choice. The wings were a bit over cooked but not all of them. The chicken salad was amazing, opt for dressing on the side. The chocolate milkshake was to die for. Makes me want to drive out there again for it. Seating is limited especially if it's busy. There's not really much for outside seating but you can make it up if you really want. read more

The Burger Shack offers affordable, good food. It's a bright place with wood tables and rough wood walls. We were the only people in for lunch at 12:15 that day and the staff was helpful and friendly. The food is tasty but there were some avoidable small problems on this visit. Burgers were not huge but notably thick, very reasonably priced at about $6. The tuna sliders were 3 for $8, nice chunks of gently grilled fish on a small, fresh potato bun with a slice of onion. But no sauce on the bun (first minor problem). I didn't see cajun fries on the menu, as one review mentions. The hand-cut fries were long, thin, perfectly golden brown and filled up a small paper bag. But they were cold (second minor problem), we were the only ones in the shop, did they not make 'em fresh? Tried the Bella's special dipping sauce, which turned out to be a very mild chipotle mayo mix, I recommend it, it's a generous portion and just half a buck. Bella's serves soda by Wild Bill, no idea where it comes from (but it's not Boylan as some reviews claim). Ginger ale was only ok, sasparilla was a mild form of root beer and fairly tasty. A chocolate milkshake was a little spendy at $5 but very creamy, strong chocolate flavor with extra chocolate sauce squirted in to show on the sides, tasty. I call it a surf shack because they have a surfboard standing against one wall, and it's pretty casual. Low key music with the Boss and others. No skis anywhere but the TVs were showing skiing movies :) The address on South Finley may be technically correct but it's sure not helpful. The place is easy to find if you look for the Bernards Twp library on South Maple Ave. Park in the lot opposite the library entrance, Bella's front door is right there. read more

Burgers and fries are consistently good. People are particular about their french fries, but I like Bella's style - crispy but greasy at the same time. If you don't like greasy I don't know why you're in a place that calls itself a shack. Portion is not too big, not too - you know how this one ends, right? I also got cut fries and the portion was too much for one person. The burger was on the small size by the way so it all evened out. They have a wide selection of fountain sodas. They have free WiFi so you can hang out on the Internet and post reviews to yelp while you are eating and drinking the all you can drink soda. It is in downtown Basking Ridge by the methodist church.
