I just moved to the Davis Square area and was looking for a salon to get my nails done. I went before Christmas and was greeted by Cindy. She was so nice and helped me pick my color...I have never gotten a gel manicure before, so when Cindy pushed getting gel I was a little hesitant but I decided to try it. I have been to Belle two times in the last week - Once for a gel manicure and once for a polish change on my toenails. The woman that gave me the gel manicure did it extremely quickly to the point where it felt like she was rushing, but to my surprise it came out great. The polish change on my toenails also came out great, but I was a bit blown away by the price. I normally pay between $7 and $10 MAX for a polish change, but Belle charged $14 (this was BEFORE the extra $3 I paid for longer lasting polish, making it $17 total). Overall - The salon was well kept, the staff was friendly, and I was happy with their services but I do believe that it is overpriced for the services they offer. As a new salon, they may want to consider slightly dropping their prices to be more comparable to similar salons in the area. read more

Very mediocre, I'm not itching to return. If you're looking for a cheap and quick mani during lunch, this would be the place to go. It's $15. The place is clean, the staff is friendly but they only do the bare minimum here, at least that's the impression I got. They weren't thorough. And they also used cuticle cutters to trim my nails when I asked to have them filed only, which I didn't like at all - snipping a corner off each side of my nails with those things is really weird and gross. Just use the emery board, why would you need to cut corners off like that? The filing was less than spectacular as well, I asked for square and ended up with mostly oval. They didn't wipe the trimmings/dust off the nails afterwards, I had to do that myself. They were actually going to apply the polish without cleaning. They take cards but you have to tip in cash. My friend wants to come back to try their mani-pedi so maybe I'll do that, but again, not really a fan. I've had far superior manis and I could do a better job myself at home. It gets 2 stars only for the convenience. read more

I showed up for a manicure when the salon opened. They refused to see me, claiming they had other appointments coming within an hour. They also claimed only one person was working, when four people were in the back. The girls "working" got emotional when I offered to pay them and basically threw a tantrum. On those occasions when I've gotten my nails done here, they have given me a terry cloth towel with other customers' nail shards on it. They also give rough massages that sprain my wrists, and the hot towels burned the back of my left hand. read more

My first time coming to this nail studio was great! I came for a dip manicure and spa pedicure, the two wonderful ladies were very gentle with my nails and with the process in general. They were so kind, unfortunately i don't know their names, but everyone there was so sweet :) the woman doing my nails took her time making them look perfect which i loved because it showed how much effort she was putting in to make them just right, she made sure their were no flaws and was checking with me even towards the end to ask if i wanted any changes for example if the length was fine and if i wanted it to be thinner, she made sure if i was okay with my nails a lot and i definitely can say i was! They look amazing, they look like natural nails to a certain extent in real life which had me really satisfied. The pedicure was very relaxing, it was done with so much care. My feet are waaaaay softer now, and look pretty too!! The prices were pretty cheap, especially since the service was phenomenal, which will definitely have me come back and even have this place my main spot to go to get my nails done again. Once i was paying, the woman who did my nails said that if my nails ever do get chipped or anything, that i can come back and she'll fix it asap with either free of charge or very minimal charge depending on the accident. She was very sweet and caring, so i can definitely say they have reasonable prices. Overall im glad i came here, definitely will be recommending this place to friends, and to whoever is reading this! read more

I was running errands in the Davis Square area and figured it'd get a dip powder manicure at Belle in between appointments. I was able to pre-book online, and they were able to see me right away when I showed up ~15 minutes early, which was great! It all went downhill from there. The technician that did my nails did not soak them, trim them or do anything with my cuticles. As a result my nails are uneven and my cuticles look even worse. This was my first time trying a dip powder manicure, which is supposed to last 2 - 3 weeks before starting to show wear. The technician was a bit rough on my nails, and the worst part is that my manicure ended up lasting only 4-5 days before starting to chip! I went back once I had chips on 2 nails in less than a week. They were able to re-do those nails, but I am pretty sure they cut some corners, since both of those nails are chipping once again. For the dip powder manicures they dip your fingers directly into the powder, which seems a bit unsanitary. So, even though this nail salon is pretty convenient for me when out running errands, I don't think I'll be giving them my business again. read more

The worst manicure I've ever had in my life. The pictures are from less than a week later and I even paid $3 extra for the longer lasting nail polish. She scrubbed my toes with a brush that looked dirty and I could not tell whether any of the tools used had been sanitized. They way she took off my sns left every one of my nails damaged. She clipped my nails after I asked her not to and cut my cuticles before I could tell her not to. My nails were messy when I left the salon and chipped almost immediately. UPDATE: I returned because this nail studio is close to my house, and I wanted a quick gel manicure. The manicure was fine. The staff, while nice to me, were extremely rude to other patrons (e.g., someone kindly walks in asking if they have time for a service, and the man says in demeaning tone, "Do you EVEN have an appointment?"). It really turned me off. So much so that I think the guy doing my nails noticed because he kept asking me if everything was alright with my service. I didn't even want to tip on behalf of the staff's attitudes toward others. 9 months earlier: Don't bother making an appointment or come when you're in a rush because apparently appointments don't mean anything. Although I've come in before without an appointment and they've turned me away, so who knows. You can't win. The place is clean, I'll give them that. Just ok, but there are cheaper and better manicures in Davis for "just ok" quality. This place is clean, well-lit, and well ventilated. They have a big range of shellac and gel colors. The staff was friendly, but I felt rushed to pick a color for a shellac mani. The tech was on FaceTime with her phone in her lap and one earbud in the whole time. That's not something that bothered me, but it seemed like a norm for the place and is something to be aware of if it would bother you. The mani started off fine. They didn't soak my nails, which I appreciate--it's not actually very good for your nails. She was fast and efficient with shaping and doing my cuticles. However, she didn't even pretend to give the polish any time to dry between base+two color coats+top. She did them all in less than five minutes, and it was no surprise that the polish was chipping by the next day and is completely peeling off two days later. I don't expect a ton from a $15 manicure, but I do expect it to last longer than a day. read more

This is my new go to nail salon. It's the first I've been to in a long time that doesn't file though to my nail bed when removing gels. They're good about letting the gels soak long enough that they don't hurt you when removing them. My manicures always look great, even when they're busy. My 1 complaint. PLEASE change the TV. Know your audience. I promise you the Somerville residents coming in for some "me time" do not want to watch Fox News. I know I'm not alone in this, because the woman next to me also brought it up. I hate getting pissed off while I'm getting my nails done. I'd much rather watch HGTV...or literally anything else. One thing to note - they are cash only or venmo. Prices for gels are standard -- $30 (this includes removing your last gel manicure too if that's applicable to you). Also, wait times can be long, but since Julie's left the square, there are less nail salons so I imagine wait times everywhere are up. read more

Abandon hope, all ye acrylics aficionados who enter here. As other posters have noted, only one woman does acrylics. She showed up 45 minutes late to our appointment. All the other employees claimed it wasn't their fault and no one apologized. She then said she didn't want to do my stiletto shape and tried to convince me to just get a polish change instead. 2 stars because although their idea of customer service really is ghastly, the individual employees are sweet and the pedicures are decent. I got a $72 + $15 tip gel manicure and pedicure from Belle roughly 3 weeks ago. The quality of the gel manicure and pedicure was very good. I asked to have a reservation to get the Gel manicure and pedicure taken off, and I was told they will not do a reservation for that service because they don't make enough money from it. I am disappointed that I can't get a reservation to have the gel mani pedi taken off. They are always busy and all other services require advance reservations. read more

They did a nice job on my pedicure and gel manicure (one week later and they're still looking good!). However, I came on a Monday afternoon, and there was only one manicurist working. When I walked in she was already helping another client. Because I was pretty desperate for a mani/pedi, I decided to wait. Not a huge deal, but it seemed like more staff could have been helpful at that time. About 30 minutes later, another staff member arrived who was able to help me. My only other complaint is that during my entire mani/pedi, the TV wasn't on, there was no music playing, and the two manicurists just talked to each other CONSTANTLY while doing their customer's nails. I arrived 10 minutes early to my appointment, the nail tech was almost 20 minutes late. I had gotten dip at other locations and they have all done a nice job with multiple layers making it thick enough that it wouldnt crack. I was only given two layers (when other nail places normally do 3-4 and file it down) and two nails cracked within a week. After a week another two cracked, one coming completely off the nail bed. It wasnt worth going back for a third time to get a repair. Wouldnt recommend for dip. read more

I've been going to Belle since they opened and sadly the customer service has gone way down. I had to wait 25 minutes when I had actually made an appointment! And there is no hand massage. And they charged $18 for a weekly polish manicure. That's all to say, the overall experience isn't great. However, the nail technicians know what they are doing and the manicures last. read more

Would not recommend coming here- the employees are very unprofessional and always seem to be chatting to one another instead on focusing on the service. I came here on a Saturday morning, and there were plenty of people working, but I was not greeted warmly at all. Upon being seated, they began my pedicure treatment, and while that was fine, and the massage chair was great, the lady didn't do a good job cutting and painting my toenails. On top of that, she didn't give me any direction whatsoever on the post-pedi procedure where you're supposed to sit for a while under a special fan to let the polish dry. After waiting for the nail polish to dry, she said I could leave, but the moment I went home and took my socks off, the polish was clearly RUINED from insufficient drying! For $28 + tip, I am definitely NOT coming here again. Note: they only accept tip via cash or venmo. And you venmo the tip directly to the employee rather than the establishment as a whole, which seem shady. read more

This place is just recently opened, so everything is sparkling white with a row of yet untouched massage chair/pedi baths. It's cash only - although I wonder if that will change as they settle in (I got the feeling they weren't 100% all set up yet...) Prices were reasonable ($15 mani), and service was friendly and attentive to details. Only negative I noticed was that their drying area lacks a clock, and the dryers don't have timers, so it's hard to know when you're done. We had appointments, for mani/pedi's, but when we got there they told us pedi's were over for the day "why no toes, mama?", they spent less than 5 minutes total on my daughter ("where did the person doing my nails go, mama?" when she went off on her phone), and my manicure was fine, I guess. What was meant to be a special mom-daughter event (and, I was hoping could be repeated - I'd love to get regular mani/pedi's again!) turned into a big letdown.. I didn't expect a perfect mani/pedi with my daughter in tow, but this was disappointing.
