    Smash burger

Was hoping it had gotten better - it hasn't. Ordered the Carolina Pork sandwich- that was very good and a nice amount. It had the option of a cup of soup on the side. I got the black bean soup - which years ago used to be good. Unfortunately it was a lukewarm almost broth like soup. It had a dolop of sour cream on top. I didn't mix the sour cream w the soup. Just tasted the soup and it was lukewarm. Waitress said it was due to sour cream. Nope - not reason. Instead of giving us a new cup and nuking it, they nuked it w the sour cream. Yuck. We also got a smash burger that was promised not to b tough. It was Very tough and I was cutting it w a knife. Also got the Adult thyme lemonade...it came in a tall glass. If there was Vodka in it you could have fooled me.

Always a wonderful time here! Nice and quiet, expect when they have live music every night. Quick service, great food, awesome atmosphere!

Close up of chicken skin and where does it look grilled!

The cafe has new owners. The menu is limited with high prices. The winter greens salad was on a small plate for $15. I added grilled chicken for an additional $8. Disgusting! It was pieces of rubbery chicken with mostly skin. Hope they turn things around or the owners should find a different business

Bellefonte Cafe is certainly very unique and eclectic! Upon researching some brunch spots in the area, this one kept coming up, and I'm glad that we got to try it. Making a reservation is very easy on Open Table, I was even able to make one on Sunday a few hours before actually coming in. I believe that the reservations are required during the COVID situation. We sat outside at around 1:00 p.m., and we had the whole patio area to ourselves. I thought it was really cool that each table came with a fly swatter, definitely a nice touch and totally necessary. Their patio area is definitely really cute and really well thought out. Though it was pretty hot out that day, the umbrellas in the shade definitely make you feel more comfortable. There are a lot of interesting options on their brunch menu, anything from Eggs Benedict to Huevos Rancheros. I got the eggs Benedict, and I thought that having prosciutto on them was a really nice touch. I also really love the fresh salad on the side, the cherry tomatoes were bomb! My fiance got the hummus stuffed avocado, and substituted the crostini that normally comes with the dish for some pita. I think that was a good call! For dessert, we tried Sweet Potato Bourbon Cheesecake with Sour Cream topping. Sounds pretty intense because it is! It tasted more like a sweet potato pie, not as much as a cheesecake, but either way was definitely really delicious! We were treated really well the whole time, and I would definitely recommend this place to anyone in the area. The inside is also pretty cool, so if you're comfortable eating inside, you can do that as well. but either way, try to check it out the inside, even if you're just going to the bathroom!

Keep going to the stop sign. When you're at the stop sign look across the street to the left and they're right there. I got lucky and found street parking right in front of their door. Walked in and they were packed. One tiny table open squashed between two others and the bar were my options so I sat at the bar. I try to pay cash at Mom & Pops place so they're not hammered by the credit card fees. They were low on change and recommending credit cards. I dug around in my pockets and found exact change. They were all out of pastries but one. I wanted to try their pasties de nada but all that was left was a croissant so I ordered it, along with their French toast and an oatmilk cappuccino. Turns out the croissant was already purchased by another patron who was going to have it after their meal. It hadn't been served yet. I received a refund. A couple showed up and sat at the bar as all the tables were full. Then someone else showed up and pointed at the seat I had my coat on saying they were told to sit there as it was the last seat open in the entire place. Packed. The French toast came out in good time but somehow my cappuccino got lost in the mix. It was immediately made and brought out. The French toast is as good as everyone says it is. Light, well filled, great flavor without being too sweet. I was trying to eat it all but had to stop 3/4 of the way as somehow it's filling. The cappuccino is also very good. I made the mistake of wanting to try them out at 11:45 on a holiday. 100% my bad. Considering there are only 3 people working the entire establishment, they did a great job. The food and drink were totally worth it and I will be back (at a less busy time)! *Quick add: I usually don't post while in the establishment but did here. Even with it being busy the owner came by to talk about the review and share a little about their business. They do evening events, private dinners. They also host guest chefs. Their goal is to elevate dishes, which is exactly what they did to the French toast. Based on this one breakfast I would definitely consider them for any function I was hosting in the area.

It took almost 20 minutes to get my food but these were some of the best (and messiest) wings I ever had! I don't know how they get them that crispy but they were excellent. Prices were on par with most food trucks not cheap but fair. This place is a good choice for a more interesting fast casual meal.

My friend and I arrived a bit early for our reservation, but were quickly greeted and offered a beverage menu. Their cocktail options are creative and constantly changing, often featuring some unique foam toppers. On this particular occasion, I started with the Strawberry Kiwi Spice Margarita, which included some cardamom to add depth and warmth to the fruity drink. I also ordered the Apricot Ginger Sour, a consistent favorite bourbon cocktail with a little zing from the lemon foam on top. Both drinks were excellent. For starters, we selected a few of the fresh oysters as well as a scallop special made with a lemon beurre blanc. The scallops were perfectly cooked, and I was grateful the dish came with sourdough to sop up every last drop of that delicious beurre blanc. My entree was where things went awry. I tend toward pescetarian options and selected the lone fish on the menu that night: skate wing. My first few bites were great, though slightly oversalted. However, eventually the mouthfeel evolved into a burning, ammonia taste, and I unfortunately wasn't able to finish the dish. My friend who also had the skate wing, however, did not have that experience (and I tried a bite of hers to confirm, too!). I know skate wing can be tricky to prepare and this is a known potential issue, but it was disappointing. Luckily, dessert was fabulous once again --- we chose the coconut creme brulee which was delightful. I'm sure I'll be back. Just no skate wing for me!
