A lot of the confections and baked goods remind me of the treats I purchased at JJ Bakery in Los Angeles, although the prices here are slightly higher (not by much--think a dollar or so). On a recent trip we purchased some baked goodies for my parents and a loaf of bread--and here I thought I knew was soft, moist bread was. Absolutely delicious without the guilt/bloat. A friend showed me this place the other day and I've gone back twice since. This place is a cute little Japanese bakery, and they sell things like cheesecakes and breads with chocolate, peanut butter, fruits, and lots of green tea items. I think they also do wedding cakes, as they have some on display. You can buy individual breads for rather cheap and they are always soft and have nice flavor. Sometimes they come in fun shapes like crabs or seashells. The staff is also super friendly and there is an actual food menu but I've never gotten any like lunch food. There is also a sitting area. My go to bakery hands down -- we go here almost weekly. I love picking up some raisin bread for breakfast throughout the week. I never leave without one of my favorites: Mille Fuille, strawberry cake, or the mango mousse. Most days, I will also pick up the green matcha/vanilla twist and finish it before I return to my car. The flow may be a bit confusing... 1) If you just want to buy bread, you can pick them up and get in line to check out. 2) If you want to buy cakes and other pastry items in the fridge, you get in line and order and check out. 3) If you want to order food on the menu, you go in line to order and check out, and walk to a counter on the left for beverages/soft serve ice cream OR find a seat with a pager to wait for your hot food items. If you are passing through (or near Columbus) and you like Japanese bakeries you have to stop here! I lived in Japan for 3 years and after coming back to the states I longed for Japanese bakeries and then I stumbled upon this place when we were passing through. The cakes were delicious! The flavors are more delicate and not too heavy/sweet like American cakes. I wish we lived closer and could enjoy them more often. read more

Delicious. We ordered the strawberry shortcake, creme puff, and some chocolate dessert. All were very fresh and tasty. We went around 6:30pm on a Saturday. I like them for their cakes, which is Asian style and not too sweet. Their presentation is very nice as well. Great for ready made desserts. However, service for special orders is not as friendly or smooth as I'd expect. I went to ask for a special order cake for my daughter's birthday. I got a blank stare from their server, who then silently pointed to their cake order forms and left me to myself. I knew my order was last minute, so it may not be possible to do, so I asked their manager. I was put in touch with their baker. I gave her all the details including serving size, and she told me even though it was very last minute, but they could make it work. I sent them an email with the cake design I'd like the same day. It was a very simple one to make it easy. I got no response, surprising since it was a rush order. When I called the next day I was told they only had enough cake to make a much smaller serving so they didn't think they could do it. Great, you could have told me the day before and I could have had an extra 24 hours to find another place. Not very happy with the service or communication. read more

On weekends, this place is crowded as all get-out, and for good reason. Belle's Bread isn't just a bakery, it's a full cafe and family gathering place. I spent a good long time enjoying my dessert and watching little kids playing and dogs being walked out the giant window. There's a ton of seating in here, and I'm pretty sure everyone could find something they like here. You could go for one of their individually wrapped buns, each with a unique filling, or you could go for some bread to take home (I found that the brioche makes amazing French toast!), and you can't miss the many puddings and sponge cakes in the dessert case, and finally if you just don't care for dessert at all, they have a rather large savory menu full of Japanese dishes. They aren't traditional Japanese dishes, but rather simplified versions of Japanese fusion dishes such as beef stew and spaghetti. I loved visiting this place, and while it's probably not the best spot to sit down for a quiet spell, it's definitely a well loved local hotspot that will bring visitors a lot of joy and a bag full of treats to bring home! read more

Everything I've had at Belle's is wonderful and I am especially partial to the strawberry cake----light, not too sweet, melts in your mouth. Every time I need a special dessert for an occasion, Belle's is my choice. I've taken their desserts to multiple functions and people rave about them. What a wonderful Bakery. It's like A blending of Japanese and French baking. The raspberry mousse was outstanding. They had a Japanese bread, can not remember the name but it was wonderful not too sweet and not too rich. They had a pork tenderloin sandwich which was cooked perfectly, not dry at all. What an enjoyable experience. I got the green tea/vanilla swirl ice cream, which was good but the green tea taste was a little strong for me. The green tea bread was great! I got the baked cheesecake, which was the driest cheesecake I've ever had but still really good. Also tried a piece of the strawberry cake, which was light and sweet. I went with two other people and they enjoyed everything they got as well. Everything is priced well. The workers are polite and the store is clean are bright. Absolutely unique and delicious food with a vast selection of pastries, drinks and Japanese ice cream. It's a very cute place with excellent customer service, great prices, and my whole family absolutely loves the food here. A new favorite of mine right now is the calpico ice cream float; it's magic because we're lactose intolerant and somehow we can drink it! About once a month we go in to stock pile our pastry breads (we freeze them and they still taste great!) and snag a tasty meal while we're there.
