    Pep in my Step

Been here a few times and am always delighted. In this case we were there for Valentine's Day. Service was great and the menu had lots of tempting options. Loved the cheese plate. Tasty cheese selections and a generous amount of bread and crackers. Their cocktails are ON POINT. The Pep in Your Step blended the mezcal flavor wonderfully. The Nightshade Martini was one of the most unique cocktails I've ever had. I enjoyed my pasta, though I had wanted to order a seafood dish and they were out of mussels. Definitely a bit of a bummer. I remember the beans in the smoked duck dish being especially good. My one complaint about this place is the menu seems to feel similar each time I'm there (months to years between visits). Like there's always a similar fish dish and a curry. I guess I just wish there were different options because the menu is relatively small. Excited to return for another visit in the future and would like to try their lunch offering as well!

How do you spell perfection?! B-E-L-L-flower! We stopped in for a quick lunch with friends and left as big fans of this brilliant restaurant! Everything from the customer service, to the cleanliness of the restaurant, to the food were all top tier! A quick glimpse at their rotating dinner menu, has us looking forward to our next visit!

Had a wonderful time dining at bellflower for brunch. The ambiance and the service are excellent. The cinnamon roll was soft and tasty. The food was good quality, although it is slightly expensive.

How have i lived in Ypsi for years and not tried this place? We celebrated my daughter's birthday this past Tuesday and she chose to eat here. We had a party of 6 and were warmly welcomed at the door We did make a reservation so not sure if it is easy to get a table without one. The table was awesome. we were in the covered outdoor area with a heated table. So cozy and plenty warm enough. Our server was a delight. i believe it was Ken. So knowledgeable about all of the dishes and made great recommendations. Try the Maynard! We all LOVED our food. So fresh and delicious. My pork chop was perfectly cooked. The menu changes so i would love to try more things in the future.

We finally came back for lunch! Yay, the sandwiches are SO delicious! I got the fried fish sandwich (lol, I don't usually eat fried food but this is too delicious to pass up) and my hubby got the salmon cake sandwich. Both are excellent, filling and flavorful. The sandwiches are pretty large (so we definitely could've just shared one, but love the variety so I saved half for later). Service is excellent (lunch is different since you order at the counter and they serve you your food when you found a table yourself). We decided to sit out in the patio area which does have some shade but yeah, it got hot but it was nice to be outside!). They only have 2 preset cocktails during lunch now (no bartender) but my hubby was able to try a new beer (grab from the fridge). Also, bonus for the weekends is that street parking is free! So we parked right by the front door, super convenient. Wish we lived closer to come more often for lunch!

This place is right next to my work and came highly recommended. I finally got to stop in for an early lunch. Believe the hype. The space is cool, modern and beautiful. It's very cozy with beautiful artwork and plants. I ordered the fried fish sandwich. It was phenomenal and would be enough fur 2 lunches for the average person. I will be back very soon to try the other sandwiches and experience dinner as well!

My sister has spoke highly of Bellflower since first trying it, so we were excited to stop by for brunch on a visit to Ann Arbor / Ypsilanti over the summer. We scored reservations and were seated on their outdoor covered patio. It was a warm day, but it was pretty comfortable out there and all decor had a nice and welcoming vibe. I will say that there were many bugs swarming around, which was not the most pleasant but also difficult to control. Our server was attentive and helpful, offering suggestions when asked. We all started off with coffee, which was standard but hit the spot. For my meal, I opted for the curried hash, which featured eggplant, local veggies, potatoes, and toast. I loved the mixture of veggies - it was light but still substantial enough. The toast was thick and perfectly toasted, a nice vehicle for the hash. The spices and flavors were on point, making it a solid meal overall. My dining partners opted for the salmon cakes (high reviews, but commented that the serving was a bit small), the smoked pork chops (didn't feel seasonal but received rave reviews), the seasonal quiche (very fresh for summer), and the cheese plate (pretty substantial!). We all enjoyed our meals and spoke highly of the quality. The price point is very reasonable for what you get and for the focus on local ingredients. I could have done without the swarming bugs, but not unheard of in August. I would love to revisit to try their other menu items for either brunch or dinner and see how the menu changes with the seasons!

First time trying Bellflower! Can't believe it took me this long. But I think it's because they don't have a ton of vegetarian stuff. There were a few apps and one vegan entree and that was it. However, they were able to vegetarian-ize one of their regular dishes which was nice of them! They change their menu a lot based on local and available ingredients which is great. Super nice server. We loved you, Ken! The interior is gorgeous with natural light, modern, and so many plants every where!!

The service was lovely. The servers are knowledgeable, kind and attentive. The ambiance is amazing!! Gorgeous interior, calm aura, and lovely place to reconnect. Now, my take on the food is controversial which is why I only took one star. It was very fresh, and unique which I give them props for. However, it is a little too unique for my personal liking I think!

There's nothing I could say that would sum up my love for Bellflower's sandwiches. My husband and I love their sandwiches so much and they're consistently PERFECT in quality, service, and taste. The bread they make daily is unreal. I'm not ashamed to admit that we recently picked up sandwiches twice in one day. They have several options and every single one of them is a 10/10. I wouldn't change a single thing. The vibe in there is so cool too, and every single person who works there has been extremely warm, welcoming, and helpful. They're just awesome! So kind and just a great environment. We've also made a couple modifications on sandwiches and every single time they're made perfectly and with the exact modifications we've asked for. I can't recommend Bellflower's sandwiches counter enough. We can't wait to come in and try their brunch and dinner menu as well.

Bellflower is all around fantastic. The interior is simple and modern, they also a small side patio during the warmer months. I've been twice with different friends and had consistently great experiences. The service is on, relaxed, friendly attitude while taking care of the table. The menu is focused, and the better for it, and still difficult to decide on what to order. For better or worse, the menu is always changing depending on what is available fresh. While a bit of a drive from me, I'd return again.

Stopped by The Bellflower for dinner, drawn in by its laid-back look and friendly vibe. Service was welcoming and warm, which set a nice tone for the evening. They have a natural wine option (always a plus), and I tried one from Sicily that was really nice. The atmosphere was cool--airy, arty, and full of plants, with a quiet club beat playing. It's a neat space, not exactly cozy, but perfect if you're into a more minimalist vibe. Outdoor seating was a plus, and it was lively but with plenty of open tables on a Tuesday night. Food-wise, the bread and butter was a T otal standout--freshly baked, slightly salty, and a touch sweet. The kale salad was another highlight, really fresh and herby, likely thanks to their local, organic ingredients. On the other hand, the salmon cakes were just okay, not particularly memorable, same with the eggplant curry. Dessert was bread pudding, which was good if a little too sweet, though the caramel and heap of cream were nice touches. The cocktail menu was well-rounded, so if wine's not your thing, there's plenty to explore at the bar. All in all, The Bellflower has its charm, especially if you're after a casual spot with fresh, locally sourced food.

Disappointing Experience - Reservation Was Not Honored…read more I am extremely disappointed with our experience at this restaurant, particularly because this was supposed to be a special evening celebrating my company's 7-year anniversary. I made our reservation one week in advance for a party of 10 and specifically requested the Wine Room. I was told by the hostess that the Wine Room was available, and I provided my credit card information to secure the reservation. Based on that confirmation, I made plans for our company celebration around having a private space. When we arrived on September 9, we were told that the Wine Room was already reserved and had apparently been booked for over two months. Instead, our party of 10 was seated in the regular dining room. The fact that the Wine Room was supposedly reserved for more than two months makes it especially frustrating that our reservation request was confirmed just one week before our event. If the room was not actually available, we should have been told that when we made the reservation--not when we arrived for our special event. What made the situation even more disappointing was the response from the manager. There was no offer of any accommodation, discount, complimentary drinks, or other gesture to acknowledge the mistake. The apology was minimal, and the only explanation we received was that she would speak with the employee who took our reservation because the reservation had not been handled correctly. This was not simply a matter of preferring one dining area over another. We specifically requested the Wine Room because our CEO had an important company announcement to make, which required a level of privacy and an appropriate setting that simply wasn't possible in the middle of a busy public dining room. We also wanted our employees and partners to be able to enjoy and celebrate together without the noise and lack of privacy of the main dining area. Unfortunately, what should have been a memorable celebration of our company's 7-year anniversary was overshadowed by the restaurant's failure to honor the reservation we were promised and the lack of meaningful effort to make the situation right. Mistakes happen, but how a business handles a mistake matters just as much. Given that this was a planned company event with employees and business partners, I expected much better communication and customer service from both the staff and management. Very disappointing experience, especially for what was supposed to be a special occasion.

We did not order the large side of salsa just a small side cup which we managed to stretch for three dinners. I ordered two tacos and a side of sweet potato mash. One carne asada one pollo asada taco, both had tender tidbits of meat, and surprisingly I preferred the chicken. The beef had a green sauce on it that is just too tart for my liking, and I should have ordered it without the sauce. The chicken had a little bit of guacamole and I preferred the sauce. There were double corn tortillas, which were very thick and appeared to be stiff out of a package with little preparation. I was able to consume each of my tacos fully with only one tortilla wrapped around it and they didn't fall apart. The slightly jalapeno flavored, but very very rich with butter and cream, sugary sweet potatoes were so good I could not stop eating them. Highly recommend! Their brunch menu changes weekly and is extremely tight and cohesive. My party ordered the entire food menu sans olives (2/3rds of us don't like them), and two plates of the potato pelmeni. My thoughts below: Amaro Apertivo: mocktail based on the namesake dessert wine. This tasted like candy but not too sweet, and we enjoyed it a lot. Lovage soda: Google told me that lovage is an herb that tastes like citrus and celery. I am a huge fan of drinks with a twist, and I'd say that celery is a pretty big one! Crisp and not too sweet, the citrus flavor definitely balanced the Celery, and both flavors kept the soda fresh and crisp. This was great paired with the rest of the herbaceous menu and balanced out the richness of some later dishes, though it's not necessarily something I would enjoy by itself without appropriate accompaniment. Pickled egg, fried shallot, dill: I had only heard of pickled eggs in the context of strange British food on YouTube, so I was a little hesitant about this dish. The concept of an egg floating in vinegar brine is a bit off-putting, but once I powered through that mental roadblock, I found myself enjoying this bite. The egg is perfectly cooked with a slightly jammy yolk, and the shallots added a much needed crunch. Dill enhanced the pickled taste while cutting through the richness of the fried shallots and yolk. Sourdough focaccia, whipped butter: Never in my life have I ever made focaccia this tall. This focaccia was raised by a loving family and nurtured to develop a golden, non-greasy, crisp crust protecting its tender, pillowy innards. The classic sourdough tang is a novel addition to each bite, and cuts through the creamy, whipped butter to keep me wanting more. I could eat a whole pan of this alone, but we had many more plates to sample. Saucisson sec salami, pickled carrot: This is a simple, charming, carb-free mini charcuterie; place a slice of salami, some of the mozzarella (next dish on this list, below), and its oil atop a pickled carrot base, and you are in for a perfectly balanced treat. My favorite part of this dish is the fact that the salami was incredibly savory, and not too salty. The more you chew it, the more the flavors express themselves, so be sure to chew slowly and thoroughly! The crunch of the crisp, dill-pickled carrot and the soft chewiness of the mozzarella give each bite a lot of good contrast. Mozzarella, green garlic oil: Fresh, hand-stretched mozzarella is something that even I, a notorious cheese-hater, can't say no to. It is not sharp or funky at all, nor is it too salty. Most of the flavor comes from the green garlic and olive oil smothering each bite. Fresh and floral with a little bite, this was delicious with the salami and carrot above. Potato pelmeni, asparagus green adjika, sour cream: Given the portion size of the previous dishes (small, tapas vibes), we were not expecting the platter full of double carb heaven that met our eyes. And we ordered two!!! This is a gorgeous dish with plump, quarter-sized pelmeni nestled in a vibrant green asparagus and herb sauce with a dollop of sour cream on top. This was a classic comfort dish with a verdant twist! The pelmeni were stuffed full of creamy potato, and the dough was cooked perfectly al dente for a satisfying, pillowy bite. The sauce was homey but packed with zippy flavor and tender asparagus. The major feedback I have for this dish is that it was way too salty, to the point where the flavor was a tad too sharp because of it. Lettuces, radish, pumpkin seed, caraway vinaigrette: It was through this dish that I found out what caraway tastes like and through this dish that I figured out that I'm not a caraway fan. The lettuces were bitter and when combined with the slightly medicinal caraway taste, wasn't for me. The crunch of the radish and the nutty pumpkin seeds were great in this dish though! Fennel cornmeal biscotti, rhubarb compote, cream: This was a single biscotti with generous dollops of compote and cream. We were quite full when this dish was set in front of us, so I was frankly relieved for the small portion size. The fennel in the biscotti paired wonderfully with the tart rhubarb, and the rich cream rounded things out nicely without tipping into cloying territory. The savory cornmeal complimented the fennel and provided additional depth of flavor. A great small bite to end on! Overall, Spencer's strong fundamentals allow them to take risks with in-season local produce. Some things worked for me and some didn't, but I would love to come back to see what they can create next!
