While the movers seemed like nice young men, there are several reasons why I would never recommend this moving company and why I'll never use them again. We chose this moving company because they had the lowest rate and did not have a transportation fee, although I am going to tell you that this company ended up being at least 50 dlls more expensive for a service that is not worth it. The movers arrived seperately, and they seemed really inexperienced. When the first mover walked into our apartment he looked so puzzled and did not know where to begin. By the way, they DO NOT have the same moving equipment that all the other moving companies I've dealt with have. They don't have any protection for your stuff other than some blankets, and all other moving companies have wrapped ALL of my stuff and then used blankets as an extra, so I would recommend if you do use this service, get the insurance fee (beware: it has to be at least twenty four hours before your move to get this so I was obviously not able to get it once I saw how unprepared these movers were). They were slow and unsure, which was very easy to tell. We had to TVs and they were asking if we had boxes for them, which I replied to that these were years old and we didn't, we had never had a problem with that before with other movers. While my stuff is still packed up in the garage they moved it to, I can guarantee that there is going to be at least some kind of de damage. They put furniture on top of our white leather sofa in the truck, which was not even covered by their previous blankets. While we were not as prepared for this move as we have been for others, it was not something that should have gotten in there way since it was mostly throwing away trash and getting one set of curtains down. For the same amount of stuff we have always had (we literally have the same amount of boxes and furniture) they took at least 30 minutes more than past movers to pack up the things which is extremely perplexing to me because other movers also wrapped everything very carefully. When they dropped stuff off in the garage, it was poorly placed as I could see some furniture digging into other furniture. Once they were ready to leave one of them said "wow, it took exactly two hours." We asked how the billing and tipping would work and they said we would get some sort of bill online. With the fee they gave me, $119 and no transportation fee, and we were also told that the second hour would be prorated at $20 for 15 minutes, we were expecting a bill between 200-240, however we got charged $300 dlls, and we know this because it appeared on our credit card. We never got a bill, so we have no idea why it ended up being so expensive or the hours they clocked. I would warn people of this company, since it seems like it would be cheap, but they are expensive, slow, unprepared, and inneficient. I wish I were back in the United States so I could call and see this made up bill that ended up being so expensive. People, there is a reason most movers have higher rates: because they are more experienced, professional, and prepared. I had never had a move be more expensive or stressful in my life and I have moved every year for the past six years as a college/graduate student (btw this is all on Austin). I can't tell you the anxiety it gave me to know that my furniture would be banged up, no matter if "I told them exactly what to do" like the lady told me over the phone when I wanted/wished I had insurance, because they just didn't have the proper moving equipment that most movers have. I also can't tell you how stressful it was to put my whole apartment aka life in the hands of these slow, unsure, be inexperienced young men. So I'll just say, get the more expensive service rates cause you and your furniture will be better off and can almost guarantee you that it will be less expensive. read more

DO NOT use this company. Not worth it for the inconsistent help they provide. The first time I used them one out of two helpers didn't show up to the job. He just stopped responding to texts from his supervisor. Two years later I thought I would give them a second chance since they are very easy to book initially. The lead mover kept saying how lazy he was and how he didn't want to be working. Hmmm doesn't give me a lot of confidence when I am paying by the 15 minute increment. The worst part is that they took the legs off of our sectional sofa, didn't notify us, and left them in the apartment. I bought the protection plan, so the parts are covered......as long as I do all the work hunting them down. They refused to order the parts for me because they are headquartered "out of town". Funny, doesn't really matter where you live to call a 1-800 number. Moving is a big enough hassle......don't hire these movers as they are not trained and very unprofessional. I watched 2 Men and a truck moving people out of the same building...they were moving fast and appeared so efficient. Wrapping up everything and taking care of what they were doing. Zach and Ari arrived early, and handled everything we threw at them with ease. They did a fantastic job and took great care of all of our things. The Bellhops service was flexible and friendly, we had to change starting location and add time and they made it work no problem. 4 guys came, all in their own cars. not sure why. this move was for may 11, 2022 in downtown austin. As soon as 1 guy walked in, he asked me for water. I thought weird but ok. I went to go get the water and the cash that had been on my kitchen counter was gone. He and another guy disappeared for 15 min after that. Lead mover had no idea where they were. also were scoping the house with the look of doing a mental inventory of what was in the home. played the piano without permission, then went into a room that specifically closed off and told them it was closed off. i walked behind him slowly and said why are you in this room? Gave me some BS about being nostalgic seeing a bed. No, he was scoping the items in the room, Dyson Air Purifier, etc. They stole about $800. it was 3 envelopes, 2 of them in thick, small gift like envelopes and one regular mailing envelope. It was not in a spot where they needed to be or would be touching anything in that area. I had put all the items that needed to be moved in 1 spot, showed them the spot, but they kept roaming around versus moving my stuff. No response from customer service. Was fully charged. I have submitted a charge back w AMEX. Never again will I use them and I hope you don't either. read more

This is a review of why I did NOT use this service. I was using Thumbtack and they came back with the first quote for a quick job of moving a stove two block from one house to another. The quote I got was for $80/ hour - reasonable and cheap. When I messaged back I was told I had to go online to their site or call a 1800 number to arrange. Online booking did not work so I called, where I was told it was ONLY for 2 guys and I had to supply the truck and that the cost with a truck was $140 / hour (WAY over the cost of all the other bids). That wasn't what I put up for bid and I feel is a bait and switch. The young men I spoke to in TN were fine, but it took over an hour to get the 'manager' to tell me that they couldn't negotiate which was a waste of my time and theirs. I feel that Thumbtack and Task Rabbit should be for LOCAL businesses too so my bad for not taking my time to investigate it more. Good news is that I found a local Austin guy with a strong back and a truck....and my job is complete! read more

Beware this company. I had the worst moving experience I have ever had and I have moved several times. When booking I advised I was moving from a 3-bedroom home to both a 1-bedroom apartment and a 10x30 storage ad I was building a new home. The apartment was temporary housing while the home was being built. We had a 26' truck and a 12' truck. The majority of the apartment items were on the 12' truck. All items were clearly marked with green painters tape for apartment and blue for storage. I was advised there was a 4 hour minimum. I booked the 4 hours to be sure I could secure the booking, but not being the professional I did not know how long it would take to complete the job. They showed up, 2 young college kids with no tools or equipment. There was 1 loveseat and 2 small pieces of furniture to be unloaded at the apartment. The remainder were boxes. Boxes were unloaded many sideways and upside down. This took about 2 hours! These guys clearly did not know what they were doing and obviously had no experience. On to storage facility less than 1/2 mile away. After 2 hours, they said the 4 hours were up and one worker had to leave, the other could stay. After getting over my initial shock of not believing they had clearly underestimated the job, I requested another worker. They said they would try. TRY? Have I mentioned my son was working alongside them the entire time?! After about an hour, another worker arrived. This one was experienced but the (time wasted) damage was already done. At 10pm the facility closed and we still had 1/4 truck left to unload. I sent a message to Bellhops advising the job was not complete and I needed more workers the following day. They called the next afternoon (I did not get the message) to advise because I "only gave them 24hr notice" and they could not get anyone for me, nor could they guarantee getting anyone the following day! I still have my items on the truck which has to be returned! So this company books by the hour, not by the job and they expect YOU to be the expert to determine how long that will take! The kept telling me "It's our policy". Well folks if you know the stress of moving, you sure don't need this as additional stress! They finally sent 2 more on the 3rd day but still expected me to tell them how long it would take. I asked for compensation and was given $76. My bill was close to $1,000! They did not feel they were wrong because "They were in policy." You decide. I can tell you when my house is ready, I will not be calling them! read more

I used Bellhops for my move this past weekend and I could not be more pleased. My movers, Ruy and William were both so polite and friendly and moved quickly! I moved from a 3rd floor apartment to a 2nd floor apartment and they were in good spirits on a hot Austin day. Although I did have one thing damaged during the move, a glass coffee table that I loved completely shattered in the truck, their customer service afterwards was literally amazing. Within hours of me filing the complaint, their rep Zak asked me just a couple of questions and I was reimbursed for the full cost of the tabl through my PayPal account before 5pm. I was amazed! This is more a review of the business not the workers who did the moving. This move happened a few months back but I was too upset at the time to write a decent review without a lot of curse words. I had set up a two hour move. When the time came for them to arrive only one guy showed up. Apparently the lead worker wasn't going to come and no one knew why. So the one worker who did show up spent about an hour trying to get someone else to assist only to have to call a friend who didn't work with the company to get the job done. Took this friend about another 40 mins to show up. The move itself went pretty quick until it came to the big items. My king size bed and leather couch were difficult items for these two workers (please note, when setting up this appointment the head office was informed of what I was moving) and I had to assist (which was difficult for me due to mild illness at the time that left me dizzy and out of breath from exertion). My leather couch was torn to shreds. After being told by the movers that I would only be charged for the 2 hours I ordered I was called a few days later and told it would be 4 hours, I was being charged for the time that the one worker who did show up had to use to find someone else to help him. BELLSLOPS!! WORST MOVE EVER !!!!!!!!!!!!This company is a total scam, they under estimate the time / size of the move. They told me it would take 4 hours to move a 4k square foot home. I told them to book 6 hours and knowing it would take 8-10 hours (not my first move) I asked at the end of 6 hours what happens? Bellhops reply - our guys will work until 9pm until the move is done you will just be charged for the extra hours.. fair enough. Well at the end of 6 hours half the team left when only 50% of my house was moved, the rest of the team did another run and got me 70% moved... then they all said we have to go and just left! AND they all mentioned to me that Bellhops ALWAYS under estimates the moves. I was ok paying for extra time but they just up and left. I then had to rent trucks and pay other people to move the remaining items. They also hire college kids, not professional movers and they damaged every piece of nice furniture we have, they were rushing to get done and being sloppy. This company also does not have proper liability insurance to mitigate damages. So if they damage something you get pennies on the dollar. They damaged furniture in excess replacement value of 7k and offered me $850. They are also NOT equipped to do large moves. If you have a small apartment or house, don't really care about your furniture getting scratched and damaged, are ok putting together your own furniture once moved and cost is the main factor they may be ok. BUT you get what you pay for, if your moving a big house with expensive furniture. Pay for a REAL professional moving company with adequate insurance. I wish I had gone with a REAL moving company. If you use them buy your own moving insurance policy for the move. These untrained college kids will damage your stuff. Since they under estimate every move ( their movers words, not mine), they rush to get to next job and cut way too many corners, become sloppy, don't wrap things properly and your items will get damaged read more

I would rate this company zero stars if I could. I hired movers, they took 30 minutes while on the clock to decided whether or not they would take the stairs or the elevator. I felt like I had to monitor my movers. Upon coming to my new apartment, I noticed the movers were carrying one or two boxes at a time as opposed to using a dolly. I had to ask them to be more efficient with their time and actually use such equipment. They nicked the wall in my new apartment. One mover left early, just past the point in which I was charged for an extra 15 minutes of his time. I called and spoke with their costumer service apartment, the man I spoke to was very friendly and helpful and offered me a discount. However, as my day went on, I realized I did more work by myself with a truck than these guys did. I had to hire more movers the next day and they put these movers to shame. They work for a company called Apache Moving. They were cheaper, didn't waste my time or money, efficient, etc. read more

we had a Groupon and they had good reviews, so we figured "why not?" we paid for 2 hours for 2 bellhops to help load a moving truck. we had jake (Jacob) as our bellhop, and the second was a no-show. jake was great! he said it was his first moving job, but he was very professional and hard-working. the bellhops company called me to let me know that they don't tolerate no-shows and we would be comped for our move. they were going to find us a replacement to help out, but we ended up not needing one because jake was excellent! we will definitely be using them again and will definitely recommend them to our friends! read more

Bellhops is awesome!!! I booked Bellhops to load my truck for a long distance out of state move. I was on a deadline and a budget. I was nervous because we had several bad experiences with other movers in the past not showing up, having an attitude, not speaking English, and not treating my stuff well. I was very impressed with Bellhops. After getting email confirmation of my order, I did not hear from them for a while ( I placed my order really early) so I got nervous. A few weeks before the move date, I emailed them and they promptly assured me that they had Rocky and Christopher ready to arrive on moving day. I emailed further to give them meeting instructions and the information was forwarded to them. On the day of the move they each called to confirm that we were ready for the move and that they were on their way. AND, I got email from Bellhops re-confirming the move. Both guys arrived on time and ready to go. They were very polite and conscientious. We lived on the 3rd level and had a strange long pathway down to the truck so we rented a pickup for the guys to load things and I drove it down for them to load into our rented moving truck with my husband organizing the load in. I told them we needed to stick to the 2 hours and that the priority was to load the heavy furniture and boxes. These guys were swift and careful. We got EVERYTHING loaded within the 2 hours. They were friendly and intelligent about their choices and gave helpful suggestions. We didn't have a lot of furniture, but what I had was fairly heavy (1 bedroom apartment 600 sf) . We did have things wrapped in plastic. These guys moved my leather sofa, heavy platform bed and mattress, and a dresser along with several boxes and stray packages effortlessly. They worked well together and were very friendly. I love Bellhops. I love that we had movers who were hardworking and intelligent college students who appreciated the work and wanted to make sure we were satisfied. I highly recommend Bellhops, especially Rocky and Christopher. They really made my moving experience pleasant. After the move, they sent me a goofy thank you video. LOL! Beware of travel fees and movers not showing up! We expected two movers and got a call the night before that they only had one. (He was very nice and helpful) However, when we got our bill they charged us $.50 per travel minute to go to and from UT to 360 and 2222. Although their information says that you could be charged this fee, no one ever mentioned that we were out of their area which is apparently an area within 10 minutes of UT. Its hard to get anywhere in Austin in less than 10 minutes unless you are on campus and that is problematic! We had a long conversation with Chris (supervisor???) on the phone, but he would not adjust our bill. Poor business and customer service on their part. So, we will not be using these people again and would not recommend them to anyone who is depending on their service. read more

They showed up on time (actually a few minutes early) to unload my truck which was great! They asked me where everything would go and I gave the instructions on where some of the main furniture would go (living room furniture here, large mattress set here, small mattress sets up there) however I told them they could ask when the other furniture was pulled out and we would direct them to the right place because its mostly black shelves. I told them the loose stuff and main tubs could be stacked in the garage and I would look at them and tell them where they would go at the end. They did put the furniture I pointed out at the beginning in the correct spots but everything else they randomly placed in the garage. My garage is larger than the uhaul truck I had and they completely filled it because they did not stack anything. They also put a few shelves in appropriate spots but many were left in the garage as they did not even ask where they needed to go. I booked them for 2 hours and they left after 75 minutes - yes the uhaul was empty but there were plenty of things they could have taken upstairs. I didn't even realize they were leaving - they told my husband they were clocking out and then pretty much waved bye as they left to me. I was not charged for a full 2 hours, which was great. But I was not happy with them leaving early when I specifically hired people to help us with this job. They also ran a loveseat into the wall even though there was more than enough room. And they placed some tubs on a piece of a glass shelving unit and broke it. I will say bellhops did refund me my money but it still has not won me over to use them again. read more
