Belli is in the Little Italy pocket of Vancouver, surrounded by global spots, and it more than holds its own. The space has quirky, cozy vibes, red seats, walls of signatures, and yeah, even a disco ball in the bathroom. We went late, close to last call, so a few items were sold out. Still, Michelle took great care of us, warm, professional, and quick to fix a small mix-up with kindness. The New York-style pies are legit. That crisp, foldable slice holds together without going soggy. The Supreme with fresh mozzarella had that perfect chewy bite, and the spicy pepperoni with honey was beautifully balanced. Caesar salad was bright and well-seasoned. What is great about fermented dough for a ling time is you dont feel heavy after eating. We paired it with a Pinot Noir, easy win. Today I tried the infamous Belli Pizza. Often described as "the best pizza in Vancouver" and "a very authentic NYC pizza joint." Since I've never been to New York City, I can't speak to the latter claim, but I do have some thoughts on the former. Because Commercial Drive is one of the busier areas outside of downtown, I left early to find parking. I arrived about 10 minutes before my scheduled pickup time, so I was pleasantly surprised when I checked the app and saw my order was already ready. I arrived, was helped promptly, and given my order. I had ordered a Coke, the Vesuvius Pizza, and the burnt scallion dip, coming to a total of $32.05 thanks to an Uber discount. Without it, it would have been a hefty $41.80. When I was handed my order, I could already tell the pizza wasn't hot. You know when you pick up a pizza and the bottom of the box is almost too hot to hold? That wasn't the case here; the box was barely warm. On top of that, my Coke had been sitting on top of the food warmer. There was no condensation on the can, which made me suspect it hadn't been refrigerated. When I got home, that suspicion was confirmed. The Coke was warm. yuck! Unfortunately, my concerns about the pizza were confirmed as well as I opened the box to see a beautiful pizza (I'll give them that, presentation and portion size were pretty excellent), but it was cold. As in, room temperature. Considering I arrived early and had only placed the order 20 minutes before arriving, this leads me to believe that either: A. The pizza had accidentally been left out after being made and was only put into the heater a few moments before I arrived. Or (the option I'm leaning towards), B. They pre-make takeout pizzas in the morning and reheat them when ordered. Unfortunately, it did not taste like it was freshly made. Even if it had been left on the counter for 20 minutes between being made and my arrival, I think it would have still retained some heat and tasted more recently made. If this is the case, I totally understand doing so because it's a busy place. But then don't market yourself as a business that makes fresh pizza if you do not. And while reheating, ensure it's properly done. Anyway... enough about that. How did it actually taste? Coke: I chucked some ice in a glass and my warm Coke turned cold (I know, pretty mind-blowing stuff). Vesuvius Pizza: Aside from the temperature and freshness, the pizza was quite good. I really liked how it felt like they were using very clean ingredients. There was almost no grease in the box, and after eating it I didn't have that clogged-up throat feeling you sometimes get from heavily processed or greasy food. The toppings worked really well together, and the whipped ricotta on top was a really nice touch. This pizza regularly costs $32, which fellow reviewers have complained about. But to be fair, an extra-large fast-food pizza typically costs around $30. It's still expensive, but I don't think they're scamming people at this price point, especially if you're splitting the bill with friends. However, in my specific case, I think it's a bit ridiculous to charge that much and not ensure the pizza is warm and fresh, with the drink coming from the fridge. 6.5/10 Burnt Scallion Sauce: A lot of Vancouver food reviewers stated that the sauce is a must, so I got some. However, I believe this was their way of saying you need the sauce in order to enjoy the crust because, unfortunately, the dough was quite dry and lacked any real flavour. Not much else to say about the sauce. I could tell it was house-made, but oddly it tasted quite garlicky for a scallion-based sauce, to the point where I wondered if they had accidentally given me the garlic sauce. The green colour told me otherwise. 6/10 I give the place a 2/5. I don't believe in fully judging a place off one impression, so I'll likely be back to dine in and see if my experience is improved. Hands down some of the best pizzas I've had in vancouver. The dough had the right level of thickness and it was perfectly crispy. They have limited seating so expect long wait times. We went around 6pm and they told us it's a ~45 minute wait but it ended up being a ~70 minute wait. The reason I'm giving 4 instead of 5 stars is because our pizzas didn't come out together because they gave one of our two pizzas to another table...if we hadn't asked where our pizza was they wouldn't have realized. Therefore, we had to wait another 15 minutes on top of the 30 we had already waited for the second pizza. We ordered: spicy pepperoni supreme $36 and Vesuvius $32. The vesuvio was very tasty - it's not overly saucy but the cheese blend and dollops of whipped ricotta and bomba diavola made it very unique and yummy. We've tried a couple of pies from Belli now and we are kind of obsessed. So far, the Vodka and Funghi pizzas have been incredible. Can't say they're quite NY style, but it doesn't matter to us since they're delicious in their own way. We've ordered takeout both times and the service has been good. The space is also nice inside, so we might have to dine in soon. As an aside, there is not a baby changing station in the restroom. Overall, highly recommend. I am going to say it, best pizza in Vancouver... hands down, number one by a mile (or too many kilometres for you to walk!) I have been here twice now, and both times were awesome, and for something like this big round savory pie that is coming at you. So you ask, what else they got, well they got salad and wings, and one dessert, but you really are coming for the pizza and I've tried 3 of them on the menu now. Which ones you ask, the spicy pepperoni supreme, the vesuvius, and their hawaiian. One thing that I always question is the crust, and one thing I also worry about is eating the leftover crust of my wife, well, no worries here, she ate it all, and somehow this crust is amazing, as usually I eat a slice and it starts getting soft at the center, and it becomes very limp (you know what I am talking about) where you are putting your face vertically at the bottom due to gravity and you look like you are getting water from a dripping tap, this is not that slice, whether you slide the triangular wedge as one sheet, or curl it up like a funnel to your mouth, you won't look stupid eating it. That bite, on every bite of that piece of pie, from the crispy edges, to the center, they know what they heck they are doing. Now let's get to what else makes them so damn good, the ingredients, know that they are using premium toppings, and the best way to describe this is the hawaiian (I know.. blasphemy for all you Italian eyes right now) as they used fresh pineapple slices, not that canned stuff, and everything from the sauce, to the cheese, to even the peppers, nothing overpowers one ingredient, not even that excellent crust. The people working in here are great, as they aren't here just to take a order, they know what are in the pizza's and the two different time's I have been here, they have been able to give suggestions, including spicy levels, and really being able to gauge the person who is eventually going to indulge the pie. The place, now if you like to sit around, listen to a mix of good beats from the early 2000's, have some pretty cool ambient lighting, including that disco ball strobe feel in the bathroom and enjoy excellent food, well this is an excellent addition to the Drive. I am already thinking of when my return to this place will be, and what pizza to gobble down next. I went with my brother for dinner We had the Monty and Vesuvius pizzas with a garlic dipping sauce for the crust The staff took our order and gave us our cokes quickly. The pizza probably took about 20 minutes to be cooked and in front of us. The crust was thin and crispy. The ambiance was cozy with dim lighting and cool music playing in the background. We got wild mushroom and vodka! Wild mushroom was heavenly it felt like a white creamy pasta on a toasty piece of bread. Why is Belli busy? Because it's really good. The pizzas are higher priced, but they are also huge and incredibly good. The crust is perfect and I didn't even have to ask for it to be well done. I had learned from another place in Steve's town that pepperoni honey is an amazing combination. Very excited to see that combo on the menu here. read more

Some of the best pizza i've had in a REALLY LONG TIME! Mike and Joshua were WONDERFUL and treated my mom and I with such kindness! We got the NY pizza and the cacio e pepe plus the ceaser salad and couldn't recommend them more!! The tomato sauce on the NY pizza reminded me of my grandma's sauce and the cacio e pepe was perfectly creamy. The ceaser salad was just GLORIOUS!!! The ambience in there is just spot on, the disco ball and the red leather benches with the pictures on the wall create such a cozy but fun vibe.
