Best place around! I was really nervous having moved from CA that I would not find a nail salon that I liked. These guys are awesome. Thani is my favorite tech - have also seen and liked Vivian. Most of the girls I work with get their nails done here and nobody has had a bad experience. Cannot recommend this place more highly. More of a quick service place vs a relaxing spa atmosphere, but the work is high quality. read more

Sooooo disappointed with Bellissimo. When they first opened they were great - clean, professional, friendly, and overall they really made it feel like a spa-like experience. Therefore, I didn't mind paying the high $$$ prices. HOWEVER, the last several months this place has really gone down hill. Amy (the owner) constantly overbooks this place so technicians are rushing through services and cutting corners. It is ALWAYS busy now and far from a spa-like, tranquil experience. To make it worse, technicians are pressured to get manis and pedis done as fast as possible so that they can move on to the next client. This is super evident in their work - sloppy, streaking, and inconsistent. Moreover, they skip on the best part like food/hand massages and hot towels, etc. I got a mani/pedi last night and it is ALREADY CHIPPING (all I did after was sleep!) TBH, if they want to pump out mani/pedi services like they do in some of the places in Chinatown or Back Bay then they should charge those lower prices as well!!! For now, I will be taking my hard earned money elsewhere. Bellissimo is just not worth it anymore. read more

I have been a loyal customer of Bellissimo for the last three years and am generally very satisfied with the service I received but after last night I will never return. This was my first trip back to the salon since the pandemic began and I was excited to have a moment of pampering. Upon arrival I was asked to sign in for contact tracing and had my temperature taken. Around the salon it there were plexiglass partitions between the pedicure chairs and between the customer and the technicians which was fine. The issues began when it came time for my dip manicure. The manicure stations only had partitions between the customer and the technician but there was no protection on either side. I was seated directly next to another customer and tried to scoot my seat over as much as possible but it was certainly under the recommended 6ft of distance. As far as the actual manicure, in prepping my nails/cuticles with the mechanical file, I was nicked several times. I had purposefully selected a very light pink color and following the first two coats the technician asked if I wanted a third coat since it was still very light. I said no that I wanted a light color, that three coats would be too pink for me and too thick on my nails. She did not listen and proceeded to put a third coat on. When it was clear that the color was in fact too pink for my liking - I asked if we could put a coat of nude gel polish over it to negate some of the pink. The technician call over the owner who told me that it was not necessary and that it didn't look bad. I explained that it was still too pink for my liking and she said no it wasn't. I was incredibly upset after spending $75 that I didn't get exactly what I wanted. To top it off, I checked my credit card statement today and I was DOUBLE CHARGED. The charge is still pending so I couldn't yet dispute it with my credit card company. When I called Bellissimo to dispute the double charge with them I was told that the owner was not in yet and that she would need to call me back. The woman who answered the phone did not ask for my name or phone number so I asked how they would get in touch with me. She said "well this is your number correct" and I said "yes my number is XXX-XXX-XXXX" and provided my name. The owner did call back and said she called the card reader company to see how many times I was charged and that she should know more by tomorrow. She did say they would refund the money once they had more information but it was too little too late. TLDR; Don't waste your time or money. read more

Made an appointment a few hours before and they were able to accomodate me no problem. Had a very nice gel manicure with Vivian. The ladies were very friendly, and while they work quickly, they pay attention to detail and make sure you're satisfied. It's also worth noting that my fingernails are brittle as heck, and there wasn't much to work with. Even so, Vivian made them look great, and the manicure lasted 2 weeks before chipping. read more

Had a good experience the first time, thought I had found my new nail salon. Unfortunately the second time I saw Hannah and was honestly appalled. I do not write bad reviews unless something was really wrong, so I can assure you this was not a regular manicure. She only allowed about 15 second to select a color before I was told to sit down. Thought it was weird but whatever. Then the yanking and twisting began and I didn't even know what to say to her. She grabbed my hands so tightly and would yank and twist them hard, then slam my wrist on the table. It was almost as if I had done something to her, or she was angry with me. The first few times I thought it was just me over exaggerating, but this continued for 30 minutes. I don't believe she spoke English, and she never looked up once, so I just put up with it but it was so awful by the end I was close to telling the woman who spoke good English. Unfortunately she was with a client and I am not one to cause a scene. I have gotten so, so many manicures and understand everyone does them differently, but I was shocked by this and hope the company makes an improvement. read more

I come to this place out of convenience but honestly if you can, just avoid it. The girls are all rude, they rush and aren't gentle, and they do not do a good job. * photos attached* Usually I would recommend this place. I've had great experiences for the last few months I've been going. Unforgivably, today I've had one of the worst experiences. I asked for dip with tips and I asked for number 74 which was a white with a hint of pink. Kim, my nail tech, used the clear color usually for French( I found out afterwards). I noticed the color said natural on it and did not have a number prior to her starting. I pointed it out and she said it was the one I picked. I never had dip before I didn't know how it worked so I allowed her to proceed. Half way through I noticed the color had little specs in it and was clear I asked again. By the end I realized she used the wrong color. I expressed that to her and she said no it's not. The owner came over said said "do you like the color" and I said "well I am not sure it's the one I picked" I went back over and I checked myself. The owner was at awe to see that 74 was not there and was not the one used in me. She wasn't sure what to say " well we might be out or she could not find it." I said she should have told me so I could pick a new color. After some back and forth she said fine we can re- do for you. I did not want to sit in there for another hour and a half. I told her it's not right for her to pick a new color for me because she couldn't find the one I wanted. I told her that I would not pay for this at full price it's ridiculous. Eventually the owner told me to just pay half " because it's not fair to the nail tech" even though it was 100% her fault if she just told me I would have picked a new color no problem it's happened before at other salons. I do not think the service or the way any of the staff handled it was appropriate. DO NOT GO TO KIM AS A NAIL TECH! read more

I live near this nail salon and must say it was the best mani pedi I've had in the last several years in the North End. Though I had two different nail techs - one for nails one for toes- they were both very good. My gel mani lasted two weeks and my gel pedi last just shy of two months. I gave this place a try because it's closer to my apartment than the place I usually go. The service was excellent and they were able to accommodate me as a walk-in no problem. Great selection of colors, the interiors are clean and well-kept, and the services I received were good quality. They also give a 5% discount when you pay cash, which is great! The only reason I am leaving a review with 2 stars instead of 5 is because I selected a color from the OPI Infinite Shine line, which costs $5 extra and is supposed to be long-lasting. I could tell the moment the technician started applying the color that it had been watered down with acetone. It came out streaky and required extra coats to fully cover my nails. They also didn't use the OPI Infinite Shine topcoat. Not to be nit-picky, but they charged me $5 extra for this polish, so I was hoping the quality would reflect that and that the polish would be applied properly. 1 day later, it was starting to chip. It's now 2 days since my manicure, and my nails are chipping so badly I am going to just remove the polish and re-do my nails myself. I understand most salons water down their polish to make it last longer so perhaps this is a caveat emptor situation, however, for polish that costs extra I really don't think it's honest or fair to be watering it down. It essentially defeats the purpose. TL;DR: if you come here, bring your own polish and do not pay $5 extra for Infinite Shine. read more

Do NOT GO HERE FOR WAXING!! I got a Brazilian or attempted to get one and the woman did not know what she was doing and repeated got old wax from the strip on my clitoris. I told her it hurt and to stop and physically covered my clitoris. She clearly didn't know what she was doing and could not remove the hair from my labia. I've been to this salon three times. Each experience was different. The first time I went there I had thannie and she was amazing. The most recent visit to the salon I was not pleased with. An older nail tech lady aggressively filed my nails & that wasn't too pleasant. Then, when everything was finished and when I went to go pay I was charged a different price than I originally have been charged for in the past. I tried explaining that, but I guess that doesn't matter. When I asked the lady if I can do Venmo for a tip, she said she doesn't do Venmo and walked away. Even though she was rude, I still decided to tip. Customer service is important and i was disappointed in how everything was handled. read more

But I especially want to recognize the owner who was checking my nails right before I left and wasn't satisfied with my mani outcome. unknowingly Kathy (who was new) had me sit under the lamp without realizing that would bubble the vinyl. Beautiful salon! It's spacious and clean. I love that they use plastic liners around the pedicure spa - that's how seriously they take cleanliness. It's in the space that was the Twilight boutique. I used to love this place and go every 2 weeks to get my nails done. The last few times I have gone have not been as pleasant. They often rush to get your nails done when it is a little busy and it shows. My nails used to last weeks and the last few times they have chipped within days because they were not done properly. Came to this salon on a recommendation and the first time I went was very pleased with my experience and outcome of my manicure. This most recent time I went was not the case. Got a fill and an eyebrow wax and specifically had been growing my eyebrows out because of a previous bad waxing job and asked her to clean them up but not too thin. What do I get? Thin ass eyebrows. Also manicure was clearly so rushed. Sloppiest I've ever experienced. Got gel all over my skin which burned when I put my hand under the UV light. Lady kept telling me to put my hand back in but I was just trying to not burn myself. Also when i tried to let her know there was gel all around the skin around my nails she interrupted me and would not even let me finish my sentencing saying she wasn't done. Also at the end when she did the nail polish remover over the polish at the end she got it all over my hands and then put lotion on my hands over the nail polish remover!!!! So wrong!!!! And did not even have me wash my hands!!! Then I realized it was because she had someone else waiting. But like ???? Why rush and make a mess when you could do it nicely the first time and not have to correct all your mistakes!!!! This was the worst manicure I have ever had. My technician rushed through the entire process, was extremely rough when buffing, and argued with me when I pointed out the two of my nails were crooked. None of my nails are the same are the same length. When she began applying the gel polish she was sloppy and applied a very thick layer. She went so fast that my other hand barely had time to dry. As result, it began peeling as soon as I left. I thought about going back and having her fix it but I would rather pay to go somewhere else and have it done properly. read more

Bellissimo is by far the best nail salon I have ever been to in Boston. Having lived here for over 5 years and a girl who takes pride in her nails I have tried my fair share of salons and this is hands down the best I've ever been to. You can almost always walk in day of and get seen fairly quickly. The staff is amazing, they have every gel color imaginable (especially my favorite- OPI), and they get the latest collections as soon as they are available. They have relaxing pedicure chairs and the salon is extremely clean. Beyond that, the manicure and pedicure is AMAZING they do my nails with such care and precision every time and it lasts for weeks if not months! I have gotten my nails done here twice and they do a great job, the only down side to this is that the gel manicure doesn't last nearly as long as other places I have been. My first gel manicure lasted exactly 7 days. The second gel manicure I got didn't last either. I have four nails that have stayed on for just under 2 weeks, but my 6 other nails chipped and peeled off in under two days. That was a let down as i was on vacation and unable to go in to get them fixed again. I would encourage anyone getting a gel manicure to make sure that the ends of their nails are sealed properly so that they don't peel up after a few days. The good and the bad. The good: - The best quality manicures (gel/acrylic/regular - I've done it all) and pedicures I've found in the Boston area. I am super picky, OCD about my nails, and Bellissimo doesn't disappoint. They make acrylics look super natural. My friends are always shocked when I say they're acrylics and not my natural nails. They get the shape just right. I usually do trendier style nails, but they do the classic look great too! The gel manicures are always perfect and last a very long time (2+ weeks). The pedicures are super relaxing, sanitary (they use liners on the tubs), and they always come out looking really nice. They take their time here so make sure you have no post-mani plans! - This salon is decorated so cute! Very elegant and trendy. Amy, the owner, does a beautiful job. - The staff is very friendly. I've gone in for touch ups or to fix a broken nail, and they're very accommodating and usually don't charge. The bad: - Their polish color selection needs some updating. They don't have any of the newer Essie selections, especially in gels. They don't have some of the most popular Essie colors like "Ladylike" "Bahama Mama" or the Essie Wild Nudes collection (my fave!) Hopefully they'll get some new winter collections! - The wait times can be quite long. I always make an appointment, and I'm usually waiting at least 15 minutes sometimes more. - The music/TV situation is not great. They usually have both music and the TV on at the same time, which can get annoying. When I can hear the music, it's pretty bad - covers of bad love ballads. They need either some good pop music or more entertaining TV shows. Either or, not both! Overall, check this place out! Best quality service around! read more
