Excellent hands down best pizza in Hampton Roads... Only spot I will go to get my NY Pizza fix...

This place gets no stars from me. Not because they don't make a quality product they do, they really do. Is it the best pizza in Virginia. I would say its in the top 10 but certainly not the best and customer service is a big factor for me as it is for most people out there. The reason for one star is because the owner is the most arrogant,rude,self pretentious person I have ever met in my entire life. If Yelp would allowed me to give this no stars that's where Id be with this review. My family and I have frequented this place often and have drove almost 40 min to get their to enjoy their over priced delicious pizza. But that's all over now. I have witnessed the owner and his son several times treat customers like they were dirt and belittled them so bad it made my stomach curdle. Do yourself a favor people if you want a good Italian meal do some research and stay away from this place. This guy needs some anger management classes. And some class. read more

I'm not even sure if people in Williamsburg understand what they have here. I've traveled all over the United States and I've had Neapolitan style pizza in some of the biggest cities (NYC, Boston, etc.). I've eaten at Luzzo's. I've eaten at Gran Gusto. I've eaten at Campania, when Luciano Trotta was head chef. Now I've had Bellissimo, which is located in an unassuming strip mall on Mooretown Road. The owners, Peter Micali Sr. and Pete Jr., have a hidden gem here. During my first visit, I stuck with the pizza. I was curious to see how the Neapolitan style pizza stacked up against other pizzas that I've had. I figured that the Micalis, who hail from Long Island, NY, knew a thing or two about pizza. I wasn't disappointed. I made a second visit later -- and had pizza again (it's that good). The crust was perfect. It held up during my 20-minute chewfest. It folded nicely and stayed rigid throughout. If I have one nit, it's this: the outer crust was a bit too thick for my tastes. (I'm guessing that the Micalis make it this way to appease local customers who don't the difference between Neapolitan pizza and the pizza style that's found at the big chains.) Regardless, the pizza really is outstanding here. If you have an unrefined palate, and wouldn't know the difference between store bought and pizza that originates from Naples, I'd advise you to stick with the frozen stuff. However, if you're looking for a top-notch pizza that'll remind you of the bigger cities (especially NY), then I'd recommend a stop at Bellissimo. read more

Ordered a slice of pepperoni pizza ($3), and it was okay. Had my eye on a slice of Pizza Roma, but it was $4.50, for one slice....ouch! Maybe a whole pizza fresh from the oven would have been better, but my slice was just slightly above average, but nothing special. read more

They have great pizza among other great foods. This place is a go to when you can afford it. The food here is pricey but worth it. The customer service could be a little nicer as they can be a bit short with you. experienced this on more than one occasion but maybe im just sensitive lol read more

Non sono bellísimo! It was not a beautiful experience. Looking for the "to go" place for pizza in this neck of the woods. We walked in and it's beautifully decorated. Employees not friendly and not welcoming, ok but I came here to eat pizza so let's go. $15.95 plus tax for their large 18" pizza half pepperoni half cheese they must have charged us crazy extra for that pepperoni. We ordered a calamari small Lil rings breaded and obviously taken out of a $3 frozen bag. A handful set on a plate and charged $9.95 for the portion. See pic. CRaZy over pricing. To add insult flimsy cheap paper plates that cannot hold the pizza. Really?? Sams club special Styrofoam or if you want to save the environment they sell strong Dixie brand. Pizza was OK. This isTHE place!! If you want NY but are in Williamsburg, VA go to Belliissimo Pizza Cafe. A co-worker told me about it and said 'best pizza I've ever had!' So coming from a fellow food lover, I had to try it myself. They had pizza by the slice or by the pie. I tried the white pizza with fresh spinach and WOW! They also sell great NY style hot dogs that snap when you bite...mmmm! Their menu has pasta dishes too but I'll try that next time. There will be many 'next times' for this place! I can't believe it took me so long to find it before now. My only issue was the country music but that's trivial :p; I came for the food and am so glad I did! I thought the pizza we had was excellent but was surprised to see my bill after the waters I ordered for some of the members of my party. I think it was close to $2 a water (not bottled). Maybe that was a mistake, maybe that's the policy, but make sure you clarify ahead of time. I didn't clarify and I should have. It had been a long day of traveling, and I was in a passive mood. By far the best pizza in Williamsburg....has that New York feel and the owners are great. They do lock the doors when they take their lunch break...and if you're in there....well...you're there...if you're trying to get in....they will reopen after they finish lunch. Great little pizza joint. I was worried when I got to williamsburg that I wouldn't have anything better than the national chains that masquerade as a pizza place. It's got the vibe. The ingredients from the grande mozzarella, real sausage, etc (I'm a former restaurant owner and saw a delivery truck rolling in product). Since discovering this place about a month ago I've been at least a dozen times and they are always consistent. Only feedback and this is strictly personal preference. I love this place! The pizza is totally NYC and helps me get by between visits to the City. In response to the Tap Water drinker in another review, my guess is you're not a small business owner. You may have spent $40, but the ingredients at Bellissimo are top notch, and therefore, cost a little more that your national chains. And the portions are also quite filling. They are a family owned business, in a less than prominent location (anchor store has been gone for several years), and have still managed to supply top-quality cuisine at a reasonable cost. As for the food...the White Spinach Pizza is amazing. They occasionally have a Steak and Pepper pizza by the slice that is absolutely delicious. They don't serve this one as a whole pizza, as it is very time intensive to create, but when it's available by the slice, I always opt for this one. And the staff always makes us feel welcome. The last time we ate here was over a year ago...our experience was that bad. First we ordered two 18" pies, one had three toppings and the other was a deluxe, each pizza was over $20. Both pizza's were burnt, not a nice brown crunchy bottom, black and the crust was also black. The cheese, and tomato sauce were far from the edge as well, and they weren't busy. The cost was about $50 as well which is way to damn much for a take out place when they can't even cook the pizza properly. Time before this our pizzas were good enough to try it again, we were a little disappointed with the amount of toppings, one pizza had spinach and each piece had one piece on it. The plus was their balsamic vinaigrette which they sell in the store, I got that on the side along with a cannoli and a black and white cookie....cost $66 for the meal! We eat pizza hut now, might not compare to the "mom / pop" atmosphere but at least their consistency for $30 is better than this place. read more

On several trips to NYC, I have experienced the almighty Brooklyn pizza. This by no means makes me an expert of good pizza, but rather provides a great point of reference. Bellissimo is as good as a Brooklyn pie and the absolute best pizza in the area. Seriously, you can taste the tomatoes in the sauce. Additionally, the garlic knots and the marina sauce are to die for! If you want cheap pizza, go get the stuff from the national chains. A Bellissimo pizza is definitely worth the extra bucks. I've been searching for a "pizza by the slice" place in Williamsburg. There are a lot of authentic Italian places that only sell whole pizzas which is a bummer. I happen to be across the street at Sentara and saw the sign. I got one slice of white pizza and one slice of Pizza Roma. He asked if I wanted Basalmic sauce on top of the Pizza Roma and I figured why not. Their salads looked tasty as well as the desserts but I just stuck with the pizza for today. We made a quick stop here on our way traveling home to Ohio. I grew up in NY so most pizza is a disappointment but not here. We ordered a large cheese pizza, NY sausage pepperoni roll and Tuscan sandwich. The crust was evenly browned and the pie had plenty of cheese. It was delicious! My husband had the Tuscan chicken sandwich with fresh mozzarella. It had good flavor and the roll was toasted perfectly. My daughter enjoyed the sausage pepperoni roll. Ordering drinks was a bit odd. You couldn't get a cup of water. Only option was bottled water .99. Fountain sodas prices high. Can soda best option. I would have ordered a cannoli but was too full and thought 5.40 was steep. Top 3 pizza restaurants I have been to in my life. We had the Bronx Bomber, regular pepperoni pizza, and some cannolis. Crust, sauce, cheese were excellent, fresh, and tasty, the toppings were very fresh, large, and generous. The bacon and ham looked like it had come from a high end deli and carefully cooked that day. The canollis were perfect, filled when you order and perfectly creamy. This place is worth a detour if you are ANYWHERE close to Williamsburg. read more

This is the only pizza place in Williamsburg. And it's the only pizza place I've found in VA. Hell it might be the only pizza place I've found outside the NY/NJ area. What I mean of course is that this is real New York pizza, something I didn't think existed outside of New York or New Jersey. I always get made fun of for being a "pizza elitist," but most people down here just don't understand what a real pizza is supposed to taste like. THIS IS REAL PIZZA. Got it for dinner and came in for lunch for some pizza by the slice. When I came in for the first time to pick up my pie to go, I found out the guy working there was from New York. That was the first good sign. Then I found out he was a Mets fan, an even better sign. The first thing I noticed about the pizza as I was driving it home was the smell. It was a smell I hadn't experienced before in VA. Guess what? The smell was pizza. It smelled like real pizza. And when I got home, I found out it tasted like real pizza too. This is because it is real pizza. No it's not the cheapest food in the area, but that doesn't matter because it's the ONLY pizza in the area. Also it's pretty standard pricing for pizza. If you go to NY, it's going to be more expensive. And take into account that the large pies are 18". This is standard practice for NY pizza. It's not "Dominos large" which is 14" or something and is a total rip off. I would compare this to most good pizza places I've eaten at in NY. Coming in for pizza by the slice was slightly better than ordering a pie to go (which is generally the case, as the pizza slice gets crispier heated up in the pizza oven...could be a personal preference). I also noticed the sauce has a little unique sweetness to it which is definitely a plus in my book. Anyway, definitely give this place a try. I will be coming back many times over. I only wish I found it sooner, and it was closer to me. It's located in a kind of random shopping center with not much else around it. I have lived in Virginia for a long time now but I was born in NJ. We have tried every pizza place in Williamsburg since we moved here almost 5 years ago. This pizza place was the closest I have come to NJ pizza since I have lived in Va! The staff was wonderful, greeted us as soon as we walked in, explained their pizza options and their best deals. I am definitely spoiled now I will not go to any other pizza establishment again unless it's in good ole NJ! Ignore the bad reviews because you will be hooked once you try this place. read more

Just had my first slice at Bellissimo's pizza and it was perfect! I had heard from a woman I met from LI that the owner was from my home town West Islip and that the pizza was great and he sells slices. This was such a tasty pizza place. It's kind of out of the way, tucked into a little shopping center near Walmart/Home Depot, in a block of stores in the middle of the parking lot. I was looking for a quick bite to eat recently, and tried this place because I saw they advertised pizza by the slice. Lo and behold, the pizza was delicious! It's the really thin type of pizza-- I had white pizza, pepperoni, and some kind of margherita with their house balsamic glaze. They seem to have a lot of additional things to check out, like prosciutto and various types of Italian desserts and cheeses. They also offer beer and wine by the glass. From the location, I wasn't expecting much, but it was so delicious I immediately recommended it to a bunch of coworkers. I'll be back! read more
