They got me in quick which was great since they're always slammed, but honestly the work was sloppy. My daughter showed the technician a photo of what she wanted and the technician responded by choosing different colors and not completing the details. My daughter was too shy to say anything (she's 7). In the car she showed me her nails and one nail was already smudged, one paw print had an extra dot and she didn't get the lines she asked for. This is the 3rd time I've been here. Each time I've called and made a same day appointment. They're friendly, but....can't say I'm THAT impressed with their abilities to do nails. Every time I've left and gone home I find a bump or bubble or a crooked nail. I've save this review to return for me last time. And I won't be going back. Wanted to get my nails done before I fly out of town, so I decided to go somewhere local and went to Bells as it had wonderful reviews. All of the staff were very courteous & the guy who greeted me was extremely welcoming. It was pretty slow as I was the only customer there so they just talked amongst themselves which was fine with me as I'm not much of a talker. Now, she did a wonderful job on my nails. I think she may have filed down a little too much though because a couple of my nails are slightly sore to the touch. Not enough to bother me, just noticeable. No soreness while she was doing them, just something I've noticed a couple hours later & I know there shouldn't be any soreness. The tech was also sort of cold on her farewell. So that's why I'm giving this place 4 stars. More so because of the slight soreness. I think I'd be willing to go again though. read more

I have been going to Bells Nails and Spa for several years. I have been to many other places for manicures and pedicures in the past but these guys are the best! They can do any design you ask. They have a million colors to choose from. They truly are artists! They take their time to pamper and spoil you. Comfortable atmosphere and with chairs you wont want to get out of. We'll see how it goes, but pretty unhappy that I rushed to get here on time per my scheduled appointment and have been waiting ever since. EDIT: I liked the pedicure and perhaps it's just extra busy today ... but we've been here for almost two hours for a regular pedicure. I recently moved to Portland from out of state. This was the first nail salon I've visited since moving. I really don't see a reason to find another spot. I got a shellac manicure and Anna took great care in making sure my nails looked perfect. The price was comparable to what I was used to before ($25 for shellac) and they didn't rush me through. Just a heads up (is this a law thing in Portland or just applicable to this salon?) they charge for a new finger nail file so bring your own if you don't want to pay the $1 for theirs. However, at only a dollar, I say buy their supply and just bring it back next time you come. read more

I saw the reviews and the beautiful photos and was really excited to try this place. It's really far from my house, but I haven't really found a found a salon I like in Portland. I've tried about 20. Anyway, I just left after pretty much worst experience at a salon I've ever had. Came in on a Sunday for pedis for a friend and me, and a shellac mani for me. Had to wait about 20 minutes which is fine, then sat with our feet in cold water for another 20 minutes. Again, waiting fine- cold water not so much but pretty forgivable. After about 40 minutes, one tech freed up and started with me because I was also getting a mani. While my friend was waiting to be seen, two sets of people came in. I heard the proprietor ask if they had appointments and neither did. For some reason they still were tended to before my friend. As they started my painting my toes, a tech came in for my friend. Then my tech finished up painting my toes. She pointed to another tech and said she would do my nails. She was applying acrylic nails on someone else and had just begun. I was a little annoyed as the acrylic nails person had come in about 2 hours after I had but wasn't hating this place yet. My toes felt soft and while the polish wasn't as tidy as I like it looked ok. My tech began someone else's pedicure. Then she finished and began a second person (both of whom came in after me) pedicure. Finally the mani tech who had been working on the acrylic nails came over and asked me to pick out a shellac shade. I did and gave her the number and brand. She disappeared for about 20 minutes. My friend who started about 40 minutes after me was done with her deluxe pedicure now. Her toes looked really good. Then, and this where they lost me entirely, the same tech who had done my toes came over and said she would do my nails. She asked me to pick a polish which I'd already done and given to another woman who no one could find. I had assumed she maybe didn't do shellac and that's why I had to wait for 4 people who went ahead of me. It was bizarre. All in all, 6 people who came in after my friend and I got their nails done and finished before us. By then I was just annoyed and wanted to get out of there. She didn't do the shape like I asked, the color is uneven and my thumbnail is corked by 1/4" at least. Anyway my nails look bad and the whole thing took literally 4 hours. Love this place! I found Rosy, and will no longer let anyone touch my nails but her! She is amazing. This is ombré done with solar powder, the sparkle is shellac over solar powder. Speaking of shellac, they have an entire wall filled with 100+ colors. I also got a pedicure, it was amazing. $45 for at least an hour long pedicure. I've never been to a nail salon that offers what they do. They have different kits for different needs. Lavender, mango, jasmine, olive oil etc. in includes an amazing sugar scrub, mask, and lotion. I waited to do my review because I wanted to see if my nails would last... And after a week, they have! I am very pleased. I don't have the prettiest nails or hands to work with. My hands are small with chubby fingers, so hesitantly decided to get my nails done. I've gone to other places before, but I just wasn't quite satisfied. I didn't have an appointment, so I went in as a walk in client. They looked busy but they were able to immediately work on my acrylic full set. One of the gentlemen worked on my nails. He wasn't very talkative but when he did he spoke pleasantly. I was in and out but I thought he did a great job. For the first time, I'm not ripping off my nails within the first few days. So I ended up with Rosie, the second nail tech that's requested a lot. Let me just say I will be back! She did a beautiful job!!! We had to wait 20 min before being seated because they let 2 girls they thought had an appointment go, and another 20 min in the chair. They claimed that we were inpatient while speaking to one another before starting on us. While working on us they talked about us in viet. I am Vietnamese and they did not know that, so they were talking about us in viet the whole time. Their job is to do nails and the lady talked about how nasty my bf toes are. If they weren't gross why would he be coming for a pedi? I will not be coming back and really wish I was able to like this place, since it is close to us. read more

This place sucks. Just got my nails done here and I'm upset. She was so worried about rushing to get them done she didn't listen to what I wanted. I told her I normally get them really long and she said ok and starts cutting and they were way short. I still got charged for "long" nails and they're not even long!!! I told her that and she just kept going. I also had a picture and she didn't care to look at it just said oh I know. The shape is horribly wrong. And the color she picked that was supposed to match the pic was wrong so I said I don't like it can we change it and the next color was wrong as well and she said no more changing color! She was just so worried about her next customer. The girl sitting next to me didn't like hers either. IF YOU CARE WHAT YOUR NAILS LOOK LIKE DONT GO HERE. They do what they want and don't care to listen to you. Plus they used a FILTHY vacuum hose to get the file shavings off my hands!
