A bit about me to know where I'm coming from. Local rider for +20yrs, long time customer of now defunct LBS Passion Bikes in Belmont, former Waterdog community rider and trail maintainer at Waterdog. Johnny was great at servicing my bike, but there's some real ***holes working at this shop. It's not like any LBS I experienced before. My bike was being serviced and given a promise date. I call in after the promise date to check on status in hopes to pick it up. The guy on the phone tells me that my bike never got worked on. His exact words: "I dont know what you and Johnny set up, and I cant tell you when it will be done". I questioned why only one person in the shop can give me a status on the bike. After I ask for his name, he replies "You don't need to know" and hangs up on me. I call back and they hang up on me again! I don't know the employees name but he's always there - older guy who's always wears DH clothes like he's going to a race event. My experience is not only me. I was there when a girl asked this same employee if he knew where the serial number for her bike was. His reply: "well, there are no serial numbers" and walks away! She rolled her eyes and found the serial number herself under the bike. This employee and a couple others are not interested in servicing their community. I realize LBS are hard to find in our area. If you want better customer service try Cognition (San Mateo), Woodside (Redwood City) or Gearhead (Pacifica). I'll never give any business to Belmont Bikes in the future and will communicate my bad experience with my group of local riders to not support this LBS. Read the reviews and do your due diligence. There's a reason why they have low ratings and customers with bad experiences. Johnny, you deserve better people in the front of the shop! read more

I felt the need to get on here and defend Belmont Bikes against all these bullies (yes BULLIES) who have never even set a foot inside the store. Belmont Bikes will forever have my business. The owner is a hard working individual who not only cares about his store and customers but served his country. Because of the current pandemic, we are in the invitory has been short and he was the only one who was able to get us a bike. Not only did he go above and beyond but he treated us with respect and courtesy. Never while I was there did I feel unsafe or uncomfortable. For all the people posting all these negative reviews SHAME ON YOU! When did it become ok for grown adults to act like bullies? I bet you wern't this mad when Pelosi was caught on video not wearing a mask inside a salon. Did you guys threaten to boycot Polosi? Did you report her to the city? Wrote letters to the CDC? Created all this nonsense? I Bet you didn't! Give the store owner a chance to fix the issue. Call the bike store and ask to speak to the owner. If you are all so scared of getting Covid then stay home. Now for all those who are looking for a good, clean, friendly, well stocked bike shop this is your place. I guarantee you, you won't be dissapointed. Read passed those silly, horrible reviews and go see for yourself. read more

So due to this COVID situation, I wanted to call and get some answers before going to their store. But the customer service is wack something i believe this store is not aware of. The signature line for any phone call query from customer's would be"come to the store with your bike". Its not like I havent been to their store. I did last time to check for crown race for the new fork but was navigated to woodside bike shop which is one of the best shop. Belmont Bikes is the nearest shop from where I live but as i mentioned these hard working NASA Scientists dont have time to answer our questions. You call the woodside cycle and they have a top notch customer service, they enjoy helping us they will answer any questions unlike this place where they act as if they are so busy building a rocket to send to the moon before the elections and dont have time for our questions on a phone call. Good Business stands on best customer service. So, guys at Belmont Bikes stop acting like sheets and help the customers either on phone or in person. Also in this situation you should be sure that the customer needs to come to the store for the service he/she requested before you ask a customer to come to your store just to ask the same question along with his/her bike. I hope yall change your attitude towards every customer and treat them right. And this review is for that one person who answers the call but doesnt answers the questions. read more

Covid Controls are in place. I rented a mountain bike for a day and the process was smooth and quick. The shop is super close to Water Dog Lake, so you also have a great place to ride straight from the shop if you don't have a rack. read more

I am a novice mountain biker and Nick was extremely patient and knowledgeable about mountain bikes, techniques, and trails. He has clinics for changing inner tubes and adjusting the suspension on the bike. Highly recommend Belmont Bikes for your biking needs. read more

Belmont bikes took care of us when we were scrambling to find a bike for our 6 year old who was itching to learn to ride! Bike inventory has been in short supply since the beginning of the pandemic, so we felt like we hit the jackpot here! The staff was friendly and professional, helping us choose a bike that would best suit our needs. They even threw in a free helmet, which was super kind of them! Thanks guys! P.S. I came in to have my new tires mounted on my wheelset. I provided the tires and sealant. I called them first to see if I can get it done today. The owner said, "no problem". I wanted to support this shop because they are close to me. I came in and noticed that there are a lot of mechanics working on bikes. This is a good thing to see, especially during the SIP. For sure I thought I may not get my wheels done. One of the mechanics greeted me and asked what I needed. He assigned it to one of the teenage mechanics to work on. I was told to come back in 40 minutes and it will be done. I opted to hang around, which they had no problem. The teenager was meticulous in making sure the wheels were done right. I don't care if it takes longer, as long as it is done correctly. I don't know why in a review they received 1 star. I guess people in the area want to be served hand and foot. I had no problem. It is a bike shop and they are BUSY. I wish Belmont Bikes the best and keep up the great customer service! I will be back again and let others know. read more

This place is fantastic. Nick makes you feel like a local pro every time you walk through the door. His dog Sula is always there to greet you too. I agree with what the other Yelper said. I've been riding regularly for 4 years now and I know enough to get into trouble, but Nick and his crew want you to find the right bike. Stupid me.... I really thought an elite mountain bike shop could really figure out Shimano Di2 shifting issues on a triathlon bike. How could I have been so dumb even after talking to Nick on the phone and him assuring me that they have the best mechanics, and it shouldn't be a problem. Then after leaving the bike for 3 days and not receiving a call, I find out by calling them that "Oh - I'm sorry but we are just not set up to diagnose Shimano Di2 shifting as we don't have the diagnostic tools... however if you go to a shop all the way in San Francisco they should be able to help you!!!" Are you effing kidding me? This is the second time I've been dissed by Belmont Bikes and will steer clear of their self-righteous mountain bike attitude and lack of empathy and responsibility for providing the local community the ability to service all types of bikes. They will most likely hate me for writing this review and I'm sure there will be associated shop haters, but this is reality. You'd better have a high-end mountain bike and the associated Subaru or SUV or forget about even getting a nod that you exist. Good Riddance Belmont Bikes! read more

I've gotten a few of my bicycles worked on here. Trued my wheels, and replaced my bottom Bracket for super cheap!They have great prices and great customer service. The bicycle mechanics are very knowledgeable and everyone that works there is super nice. Other bike shops quoted me way higher prices and couldn't help me out until the following month. We came from out of town needing a tubeless flat fixed with the hopes of riding for our very short trip in town. Everyone in the store was extremely friendly and got us in and out in less than 30 min. with giving them no advanced notice. I never write reviews and must say I'm pretty stoked to be the first person reviewing this place. I was led to Nick by a good buddy of mine because I just got into mountain biking. I went in after I spent a few months on an entry level MTB looking to spend a little more on a bike. Nick and his team were super friendly and knowledgeable. Not trying to get me to spend double the price and were totally willing to let me do my research, test ride a couple bikes in the parking lot, and take my time with my purchase. Nick was helping me through the week on email and gave me my options of what I could get. Long story short, I haven't had the chance to fully test out my bike yet but the overall experience of getting started on a more expensive bike has been phenomenal. I was even looking at bike racks and called him from REI because I thought I saw a killer deal and he confirmed it was. If you're looking to get steered in the right direction, this is the place.
