WE contracted for a national move to florida from Oak Park, IL with The Beltmann Relocation Group. They gave us a binding quote. We were charged in FULL the day we signed the contract. We were scheduled to pack on the 5th May and load on the 6th of May to be delivered between the 13th and 17th of May 2011. The driver (Phil) from North American Van Lines kept calling me starting the 3rd that can they pack and load our stuff on the 4th of May, and I told him no it's not possible because where would we stay ? He even offered that he'll give us 100$ if we let him pack, load and leave on the 4th instead of the pre-planned 6th of May. We have a 8 month old baby, and two senior citizens with us, we couldn't make them stay in the hotel or at somewhere else for 100$. So we told him no it has to be the planned 5th and the 6th of May. The packers arrived on the 5th and did an excellent job. Left the beds, cribs, changing table, couches etc. for us to be able to sit and sleep the night of the 5th. The driver comes in next morning on the 6th and starts loading our stuff then after about a hour or loading he starts to panic that our stuff won't fit in and that the previous load was more than the estimated. This started to annoy me because we've been already charged and the contract says our stuff would not be bounced around to another truck and it'll be delivered between the 13th and the 17th of May. Anyways, after all the phone calls to the The Beltmann Relocation Group, they told me that another truck will take our stuff immediately after this truck leaves so we're very happy that it was a good decision to go with a reputed and the most expensive moving company that they'll take care of us and our stuff would reach on time. But, little did we know that wasn't true. The next truck didn't even leave until the 9th of May (I had to call The Beltmann Relocation Group to get the tracking number for the trucks), and that truck had everything that was very very important for us viz. Our beds, baby's changing table, rocking chair, kitchen etc etc. and we were really hoping they'll still be able to deliver our stuff by the 13th or latest by 16th. The driver from the first truck calls me on the 10th that he's in Miami beach since the 9th but he won't be able to come deliver our stuff till the 13th, we said fine 13th it be. Then we called The Beltmann Relocation Group again to find out the status of the other truck. And, we were told oh we're trying to get it delivered asap because we know it has your beds, and the baby stuff and that you would need it. But obviously that were all lies because I could it track my truck still no where close to Florida so I called The Beltmann Relocation Group to get an update, guess what same story again that they're aware of our situation and they're working on it. Really annoying. For once I thought of putting stop payment on the already paid charges. I should have probably done that. And, then I get a phone call from The North American Van lines for a short survey as if they had done and excellent job and that they should be proud of their work. I told the guy that I'm really disappointed because we don't expect this from the (Supposedly) best moving company and that I'm gonna follow up with the management at The Beltmann Relocation Group. He told me oh, don't worry I've put this move on "red" and that someone from the Management would definitely get back to me within 24hrs and to this date (the 3rd of June), I haven't heard a thing. And, since the beds weren't going to be reaching anytime soon we had to sleep on the floor then we felt so bad for our parents that we went ahead and bought a bed. They're old and we couldn't ask them to sleep on floor, that'll be terrible. Anyways, I'm writing this because The Beltmann Relocation Group and The North American Van lines had been TERRIBLE with their service and contract obligation. I'm hoping to find an attorney to get them straight soon. Oh, and to top it all, one of our beds is missing all the wheels that comes with the rails and the driver told me Beltmann would buy it, send someone over to fix it for us. It's been more than 2 weeks, we haven't heard ANYTHING from them. Couple of our furniture is damaged not a whole lot but nook and corners of it, still a damage is a damage, we can't replace those. They cost a tonns. But that's not even an issue, my main issue is not meeting the contractual dates and then no follow up. Really UN-PROFESSIONAL. I'm NEVER going to refer them to any of my friends/family. I thought we're going with reputed movers so it's ok to pay little more than most of the other movers, but at least our stuff will get there safe and ON TIME. Do yourself a favor. Do not use this company. Delete their number, block them from calling you. Quote part of the process (you know where they are trying to win your business) was great. Pick up goods- thumbs up.Delivery of stuff- big thumbs down. they wanted 7 day window to deliver our stuff. That's right- we move in, sleep on air mattresses, drink out of plastic cups, and then any time in that 7 days they drop the stuff off whenever works for them. And they'll let you know when works for them, 3-5 days before. The biggest surprise was the they were completely dumbfounded that a customer would not be okay with this. I told them I needed to make arrangements with my work and needed to know at least 2 weeks in advance to make those arrangements. Their solution was I should have a friend go sit at my house and take off work if I couldnt be available. How is that a solution after paying $10k for their services? Lastly, and most disappointing, here is the state of 30% of my furniture arrived in. Stuff they wrapped. Looked like they really put some TLC into their work- not. read more

Horrible experience! They are affiliated with NORTH AMERICAN VAN LINES. Avoid them both! Used them to move me from Chicago to Pasadena, many of my belongings were either lost (couch, dining room chair, bike (assuming stolen) and more) or damaged (dining room table smashed on all four corners, mirror frame damage, artwork damaged and more). I'm not sure how they stay in business. Absolutely zero customer service. Filed a claim for over $5,000, reimbursed $255.00. Very dissatisfied. They will say you should have purchased additional insurance, but from reviews I've read even with original receipts you still don't get close to the value of your possessions. It's really unbelievable that they can get away with damaging and losing so many things and not taking any responsibility for it. Wrote the CEO, Wes Lucas, basically got the same response...should have paid for additional insurance. Stay away! Also, Mike Harvey, the manager at Beltmann didn't follow up on my phone call. And, the manager at Beltmann in Los Angeles, Franco, charged me an additional $466.00 to reschedule my move date. If he had mentioned there would be an additional charge when I phone him, I would have made the original move date work. They don't care about the customers or your household goods, only about how much $$$$ they will make off of you. read more

I used Beltaman service for my move from Chicago IL to San jose CA. I really would say that they are a very professional organization and very methodical. I especially wanted to thank Adam Coolidge and Mathew Bridges who has been very supportive through out the process of the move. I had made a few changes in the delivery dates due to circumstances during the process of my move and Adam and Mathew Bridges were really accomodative. I would no doubt use them for my next move also suggest my friends to use Beltman. read more

We used Beltman to move us from Chicago to Arlington, VA. They came and gave a quote which was reasonable and on par with other movers so I decided to go with them because they moved us from MD to Chicago 7 years ago and did a good job. They came and prepped us for half a day and then moved everything out. They were very professional and knew exactly what they were doing. Nothing was damaged whatsoever. On the move-in, different movers brought our stuff and they were also professional and very clear in regards to communications. We have moved frequently over the past 30 years and have always been rather satisfied with the various moving companies until recently. We used Beltmann Group this time for a move from IL to FL. It was a nightmare from start to finish. First they brought a truck that was half the size they needed so another truck was brought in to finish up the next day The next day they brought another truck that was too small needing a third truck. Then they forgot to bring packing materials. The shipment was late and their customer service department was non existent. It was a horrible experience with much damage and missing items. We can't believe they are still in business. Use a different company!! ( they are connected to North American Van Lines and Allied so avoid them all!! read more

I used Beltmann/North American Van Lines to move from Chicago to Los Angeles. They made the process stress free thanks in great part to the coordinator that I was working with. She returned my calls or emails almost immediately. The folks assigned to pack up my home arrived on time and worked very efficiently and when the truck arrived the next morning it was just as organized and speedy. My things all arrived in Los Angeles within the stated arrival time and all my stuff was in my new home in a matter of hours. The team couldn't have been nicer and the driver was great. He communicated with me without the week to let me know his progress across the country. I would recommend Beltmann to anyone looking to do a in-state or out of state move. I moved from CT to FL. I got the storage done in FL. The office staff in FL, especially Carol were great but the delivery and damage to the furniture overrode any niceties from the office. The delivery group did not put everything together, pieces were missing, etc. I would not use them again. read more

I used them because of prior experience I had with person who came to give me quote. She switched cos. and was now with Beltmann. She was very good, and because of her I used Beltmann. The day after I moved I noticed that some things were missing. I called up their office they told me to wait until I had finished unpacking. When I finished unpacking I called up office to let them know items still had not turned up. I was told they would get back in touch with me. A week later I received a call, and I was told they found my missing box in the back of the truck unders some blankets, and that someone would call me up to schedule a delivery for the next time they were in Manhattan. Why next time they were in Manhattan - they should have delivered it right away!!! I received a call a few days later stating that by some mistake my box was put in with someone else's move in their warehouse. I called manager and asked if they were looking for my box, and he point blank replied no. I did not take out insurance because I trusted the woman who gave me my quote. I've moved several times in my life and never had any problems. I was told to file a claim. For a claim of $3000, I received $169.80. Ultimately, it's not the money, but some of the items had sentimental value. read more

I wish I could write a detailed, specific review to back up the five stars, but I actually had to work while my husband supervised both packing and moving -- and the move came out great!! They were prompt and courteous, and we too got money back because they had to pack less than they had estimated. Absolutely everything arrived in great condition. We used this company to move and it went bad. Misled us about the Insurance Coverage. Packers were horrible. Our contact kept saying that she was there for us but after the move and the problems came out the attitude was obvious that she did not want to hear from us any more. Our mover took out a neighbors mail box at destination and the transport Company that moved our Auto that was recommended by our mover took out two sets of mail boxes with our car and damaged it and the mail boxes. Not to mention the transport company was rude and we had to fight with them over the repairs. I will never use either again or recommend them. We loved the people at Beltman they made our move from melrose park ill to a small town in Tennessee look easy and simple. Everyone was SO nice and courteous it was almost unreal. The tempurture was negative 2 and they just kept going. I had a concrete cow statue that was frozen and at least 1/2 foot in ground that I just had to take with me they got shovels and dug it out next thing I know it was on back of truck. Beltman went above and beyond helping me with my family's move and really would recommend them to anyone that has and short or long distance move in the future. We relocated from Chicago to Michigan on July 22nd, 2010 and enlisted the services of Beltmann Group. David and Daniel were our assigned movers. We were nervous about this move but the moment David walked in we were put to ease. David is an older gentleman with years of relocation experience. He was very detailed and patient with our questions. I requested help with unscrewing cable connections and even though this wasn't related to the move David pulled out his toolbox and made it happen. Daniel is David's younger apprentice. Our move was scheduled for 8:30 AM and the crew arrived well in time. They rolled out a mat over our carpet so as to not leave any marks. David divided responsibility and the crew executed efficiently. Once the truck was loaded they drove to our condo in Michigan. All we had to do was notify which box went in which room. I gave a tip of appreciation, waved goodbye and the potentially painful experience was over. David and Daniel are awesome. If you use Beltmann Group ask for these guys by name. read more

I hired the team to move me from Chicago to Arizona. The moving consultant came to my home and provided an estimate and although I could have gone with some other companies, I chose Beltmann because a friend used them and their quote was the most reasonable. I had quotes for thousands more and quotes for a few hundred less. However, a companies reputation with its customers is the most important (I feel). The movers arrived on time and were extremely courteous. Although I had everything packed, there were some items I didn't pack securely or that I didn't have the right packing equipment for and they packed it and/or packed it more securely. The movers were also polite with my property and brought their own carpets to roll out as not to track in dirt to my house. They also covered their shoes. They had my things moved out in an hour and a half and treated my belongings well. The only thing I did not use Beltmann for was to move my car. Their quote for moving my car was a little high and I used another local company. My things were literally moved to Arizona within 3 days! It was very fast. They also kept in touch with my as my things were traveling so I would know when to expect things to arrive. Once everything came to my new place, the movers in Arizona were just as great as the movers in Chicago. They had everything moved in within an hour or so and even helped me put things back together, like my coffee table, etc. They were so easy to work with and I would not hesitate to call them again if I ever move. Even if I do a local move, which I plan to do when I buy out here, I will be calling them! They are really as good as it gets and you hear so many horror stories with other companies. We had a terrible experience. We moved from Saint Paul MN to Athens, GA. We picked this company because they looked professional. We did not want a company that transfered our furniture to a different truck in an other city. They sent someone to give us an in-person estimate and answered our questions. The day of the move our good impression of the company evaporated. They arrived more than 2 hours late. It was obvious to us that the truck they had sent was too small. They dismissed our worries. We had packed everything except mirrors and lamps. They only had a team of 2 and worked very slowly. By 5pm, they were not finished with the main level and I could see that they would not be done that day, so I called the office. They did not send any help. At 7pm, we were told that the furniture in the basement would have to be taken apart to go through the stairs. But they did not have the tools or ability to take it apart. We were told to do it ourselves. We worked like dogs until midnight. At that point, they said that the truck was full and they could not take the rest of our things. We went to sleep at my daughter 's house and the next day we called the office. They sent an other teem to pick up the rest of our things. We discovered pieces of our furniture outside in the street, forgotten. The truck was too heavy, so we were told they had removed some of the the things they had loaded and that they would put all that did not fit in the truck in a crate and ship it right away. Of course, it took more than a week before they sent the second part. When they delivered the first half of our furniture, they told us that unless we paid them in full, they would hold the rest of it hostage. We had no choice but to pay up and hope that they would deliver the rest. The rest showed up 10 days later. Again, they were late. Told us right away that quite a few things had been broken but it was not their fault, and that they would not put anything together. To put it in a crate, they had taken everything apart further and bundled everything in little packages of paper and cloth. We had to open all of them and try to put the puzzle of our furniture back together: 10 bookcases and 2 desks. They had not kept track of what went together and had lost some hardware. The office sent us an other team 3 days later. We only had them help with the desks because they were heavy. By that point, we were not sure the bookcases could be reassembled because of the missing pieces. Eventually, after working on them for several day, we managed to make them whole again. We asked them if they could take all the wrapping from the little bundles, but were told we would have to pay extra for that. So we payed full price to get to do half of the movers work, get our furniture damaged and end up buried under detritus. Thank you Beltmann! read more

I booked a cross-country move from Chicago to Massachusetts two months before our move date. I sent in my signed agreement and was told by our agent, Jennifer, that everything was set. Since that time we had had a few correspondences with her and another member of her office regarding moving specific items. Then, ONE WEEK prior to our move Jennifer calls me and says somehow our booking was never put into their system and there were no longer any long-distance drivers available to move our stuff in the previously promised time frame. She admitted that this had happened to a few other families as well recently. Since we have to start new jobs right away following our move, we cannot delay our move. So now we are frantically trying to reserve a U-haul, figure out how to transport our two cars over, and have to split up with my husband driving the U-haul truck and me in our car with two small children, a dog and a cat. Worst experience I've ever had - absolutely no initiative on their part to compensate us appropriately or find a driver for us. read more

We used Beltmann Relocation Group for our move from Naperville, IL to Dallas, TX in September. We have moved 12 times in the past 10 years cross-country with other major nation-wide relocation companies due to corporate relocations. The quote was the lowest, and we now know why. This was, by far, the WORST move we have EVER made. The driver was rude and foul-mouthed, and those were his good attributes. The driver damaged quite a few of our belongings and instead of showing us the damage and accepting responsibility, he used black electrical tape, duct tape, gorilla glue and stain to try to conceal all of the damage he wrought on our belongings. Apparently he thought we wouldn't notice where he'd used electrical tape to hold a table leg together which he'd sheared off, or that he'd rolled up a piece of duct tape to hold the molding onto our bookcases, and these are just a few of his "repairs". To top things off, North American Van Lines' response to all of the damage and the way the driver attempted to deceitfully hide this damage, leads us to believe he has been instructed by North American Van Lines in the art of deception. As we have said, we have used many other major nation-wide relocation companies and have had items damaged and/or stolen before; but never have we EVER experienced such a gross and contemptible attempt to deceive and defraud us. We highly recommend you to NEVER EVER entrust even the most meager of your belongings to North American Van Lines. read more
