The oil actually overflowed onto my table; just looking at it makes me want to puke

I ordered chicken vindaloo and got a dish so swimming in oil it actually overflowed the container and got on my tablecloth when I opened it. My mistake; I could see through the container too how much oil was in there and I was just in such disbelief that I opened it anyway. Into the trash it went. Disgusting. Never ordering from here again.

My friends and I found this place with yelp when we were nearby- it is actually inside this big apartment complex. The cafe itself is pretty spacious and there are quite a bit of options. I only ordered the dishes I knew about, so a bit later we got our tikka masala and samosas. The presentation and taste were great, and the portions were generous for the price. I really liked the Royal Taj restaurant in columbia, but I think that this cafe had better tikka masala! It was creamier, richer, and less tomato-y. Would definitely dine in again if i'm in the area.

Order received from Belvedere Towers Cafe on 7/11/2022. Order was wrong and when I called, I received nasty comments from manager and other employees. I tried to tell them about how the order was wrong and that there was trash in the package (a cigarette butt and a used napkin). They kept telling me to call Grub Hub and blamed them for it. That was their mistake. Grub Hub does not prepare food, they only deliver it. They refuse to come and accept this food even though I was willing to accept another decent and complete order. They kept telling me to call Grub Hub and complain to them about the order. Grub Hub is not responsible for the preparation of any order. They only deliver orders that were already prepared by the restaurants. They refuse to give me back my money or correct the order, they kept saying Grub Hub is responsible. Call Grub Hub, Call Grub Hub!!! Do not order food from this place that has no respect for the health of good food in America, especially during this pandemic. The germs from the cigarette butt and dirty nasty could have come from someone carrying a nasty disease and Belvedere Towers delivered it in food order. This restaurant is horrible!!! I have a picture of the food that was delivered but there is no option to post it here!!!

If you are looking for incredible, authentic flavors served up fast in a pristine environment,…read moreHimalayan House is an absolute must-visit. From the moment you walk under the welcoming sign inside you can tell this place is cared for. It is a beautifully maintained, smaller restaurant that maximizes its space perfectly. The dining area is incredibly clean, cozy, and bright, featuring crisp tablecloths and an awesome "Save the Himalayas" wall mural that adds a great touch of character to the room. The service here is incredibly fast and attentive. We barely had to wait at all before our table was filled with fresh, steaming dishes. The food is where this place truly shines. Everything we ordered was packed with vibrant, well-balanced spices. Appetizers: We started with a perfectly crispy fried pakora/fritter served with sweet and tangy dipping sauces which set a high bar for the rest of the meal. The Momos: You absolutely cannot leave without trying their momos. They are perfectly doughy, juicy, and paired with an addictive orange chutney. We couldn't get enough of them. For the main course, the traditional metal thali tray offered a spectacular variety of flavors. Between the spiced chicken, seasoned potatoes, savory chickpea mixture, and beaten rice, every single component on the plate was an absolute hit. Small, clean, lightning-fast service, and exceptionally great food. Himalayan House hits all the right notes for a perfect casual lunch or dinner. I will definitely be back to work my way through the rest of the menu!

The spice levels here are slightly higher than some other Indian restaurants from experience, so would recommend going down one level from your usual.

My wife, our 6-year-old daughter, and I stopped in for an early dinner after spending several hours at the National Aquarium. The restaurant's proximity (under five minutes away) and strong online rating (~4.6) made it an easy choice. We were also influenced by a promotion advertised on their website: buy two entrées, get the third (chicken or vegetarian) free. When we tried to order under that promotion, our server told us they had not run it in "many years." If that is the case, it should not be listed online. It factored into our decision to dine there, and advertising an outdated special is misleading. That said, my negative review is not based primarily--or even secondarily--on the inaccurate promotion. Restaurants ultimately succeed or fail on taste and execution, and that is where this meal fell well short. We ordered the Lamb Junelly, the Kabob Platter, and two garlic naans. The Lamb Junelly, which I requested at a medium spice level, leaned noticeably sweet. It contained surprisingly little lamb, and while I did not find it overly chewy, my wife did. Overall, it lacked depth and balance. The bigger letdown was the Kabob Platter (chicken tikka, lamb seekh kabob, shrimp, and chicken tandoori). All three of us agreed the chicken tikka was dry and nearly flavorless. That says something, given how hungry we were after skipping lunch. My wife captured it best: "I was so looking forward to the Kabob Platter, and I was so disappointed by it. I left the restaurant almost sad." I felt much the same. Service was acceptable but inattentive. Our server never checked in during the meal. Had he done so, I likely would have asked for lemon slices to brighten the kabobs. When we left--around 6:00 p.m. on a Thursday--we were the only guests in the restaurant, yet there was no acknowledgment from our server or the staff members sitting nearby. That absence of basic hospitality stood out. This is not an inexpensive place (garlic naan costs $7 apiece). At those prices, execution and attentiveness matter. On this visit, both fell short. Among the many restaurants I have visited, this would land in my bottom quartile. I would not return, and I would not recommend it--especially for the à la carte dinner service.

I had never tried Kumari in the past so I was excited to say something new and then learned upon sitting down that they offer buffet lunches on the weekends for about $18 all in. The service was really spectacular considering, and the tea was really delightful. Mango Lassi was too sweet. The space is quite large and they have seating on both sides of the restaurant. This is a no-frills restaurant and sometimes you have to grab silverware and napkins yourself but with two people working there and a restaurant full of people I thought the service was great. Came back for a weekend to show my husband around and thought it would be a good idea to check this place out again after so many years. Maybe the chef has changed or maybe my 25 year old had low standards - but the food wasn't good at all. Everything tasted just.. sweet. However, chai is still good and kheer wasn't too bad either. Still giving it 3 stars for all the good memories associated with it.
