This is the closest thing to an old fashioned hardware store you'll find. It's been here for ages, and looks like it. They have everything and anything you'd need, although don't expect any discount pricing. It's neat. It's clean. It's organized. That's not their thing - discounts or sales. I occasionally go there when I think they will have what I need and don't want to deal with a Home Depot and remember to patronize my local businesses. So what's missing from Belzer's which doesn't give them a five star rating? Honestly, it's the service component. The last few times I've been in and asked for products, I was directed to where to find them, but the staff person was, how can I diplomatically express this, not so friendly. He had a stern face. He didn't seem to know or want to smile. He seemed unhappy. And he was young. Like in his late 20's. And I'm old, in my Late 60's. How about hello when you enter or thank you after a sale or a little bit of a smile, just one side of the face smiling. It's not a big box I don't care operation, it's like my neighborhood. If Mister Rogers shopped there, he would say "Mr Hardware Man is a bit grumpy today boys and girls, but that doesn't mean we should be grumpy. Always be nice to your neighbors boys and girls" And note return policy: 10!days with receipt and don't open anything or else you cannot return it. That's reasonable. After 10 days with receipt you'll get a store credit. So Mister Belzer's man, how about a smile today? Also, take that dumpster out of the handicapped parking spot. It makes it difficult to park there plus it's illegal to place anything like that in a designated handicapped a lot! read more

He was wonderful. He assessed the situation and was able to help me with a minimum of fuss. His solution didn't cost anything and didn't earn the business any revenue. I'm surprised there's not many more hardware stores in Boca Raton. I was looking for key duplication and this and some key duplicating stand option appeared on google maps. But this place def makes GOOD KEY DUPLICATES if you need it. It has your typical soil, tools, hardware, nuts, bolts etc. seems to be popular to contractors or people in the construction industry. A little overpriced, but the locals or regulars seem to be aware of deals like BOGO deals- maybe it's a insider trade secret. Staff are friendly and helpful. I purchased the wrong item. When I tried to exchange it I couldn't find the receipt. I walked into the store and they informed me that they will not return or exchange without a receipt. This is very inconvenient from a hardware store trying to return a toilet shut off valve that didn't fit because due to the COVID-19 restriction I was not able to walk in the store and I was at the mercy of the worker who picked up the wrong item for me. As much as I would like to support the local businesses versus online shopping, only to realize that it is very inconvenient to deal with single-sided policies such as this small hardware store. A fine example on how NOT to treat customers - Incompetence and Miserable Service made this my very last visit to Belzer's. I needed pipe clamps, plus bolts and nuts. The sales person claimed he did not know what I was talking about, even when I practically drew what I was looking for. When I did locate clamps in a bottom shelve, I asked what these things are called. "Pipe clamps." Impressive. Got a few, got my screws and headed home, only to find out I was sold the wrong size clamps, thus also wrong screws. Drove back immediately, trying to exchange or return the items: the clamps I was able to return (the right size wasn't in stock), but the screws and nut are not returnable/refundable. So said the OWNER. "Store Policy". My Customer Policy: never go back, and warn others. (In contrast, ACE in Deerfield said of course, I can return anything if in new condition. I don't get the three star average? The one thing I find refreshing every time I go is that there is a person to ask you if you need any help. Another thing that you won't get at the big box hardware is looking for nuts and bolts. It is amazing when I go to Belzers the bins with the bolts or nuts washers etc are actually the ones in the bins. They haven't been reshuffled like the ones in the BB stores. For such a small footprint they have a lot of esoteric parts the BB's just don't bother with. One of my favorites there is the fact that you can get an enormous selection of stainless in metric and SAE. Amazingly, the are actually in the same bins as the outside indicates. It sure beats the immense frustration of searching through a specialized parts bin only to find three when you need four and the accompanying nuts and washers are scattered like the galaxies of the cosmos. This why I give the store five stars. I am used to expecting crappy service at the BB's and I am becoming used to finding it myself. If you want more store try the Ace hardware on Federal just past Hillsboro. However for small parts Belzers will always be my go to store. read more

I purchased face masks posted on Facebook. I was to receive two for $10 plus 7.98 shipping. The ad states reusable and washable. I received after over a week in a USPS envelope costing $3.08 postage, masks made out of foam that could maybe have been made on a 3d printer. These are not usable against skin. Probably cost Belzer 3 to 10c to make. Extremely dissatisfied and disappointed in the abuse and greed of the product seller. VERY MISLEADING AD. Hurricane Dorian is 2 days away and out of desperation we went and purchased an overpriced $200 drill and some bolts. The drill didn't work and the bolts were the wrong size. My mother went back to return the items, the owner became verbally abusive, yelled at my mom, threatened to call the cops on her for disturbing his business during a hurricane and threw my mom out of the store. We will file a police report and we will contact the credit card company and an attorney. This is not how a business should treat people. Shop at your own risk. read more

This pains me to say it, but I'm never going back. I've been a customer for six years and have been treated wonderfully until now. I've never been treated more rudely. None of the hometown employees work there anymore. it's now a rude family that don't care about the customers. I wanted to buy an item. The price was clearly marked on the shelf and the item number matched the shelf label. The price was incorrect on the register. The lady behind the counter stated the old employees were too lazy to change the price. The new price was more and if I didn't want to pay it, then she didn't have to sell it to me and told me to get out. Home Depot now has better service than a small hardware store. They also have a wide variety of unique items such as purse hooks and special print keys. I really wanted to support a place like this, but I'm done. Went in today to get a store credit/exchange for a set of drawer guides-$12.99, since I had no receipt. Figured a pretty simple request. Girl at the counted looked at me like I had 2 heads, and passed it on to someone named Jan. He could not even find the product, so I had to show him where they were. Store stickers and SKU were still on packaging mind you. After too many questions on my purchase, I just said forget it and walked out. This is why Home Depot and Lowe's will eventually drive this place out. If you are going to have a "mom and pop" style store, you need to follow up with "mom and pop" style service. read more

Some really dumb policies here. They feature replacement car key fobs and batteries. I went in today to buy a replacement battery (and other items). I asked to use a small screwdriver to open the key fob and was told I would have to buy the screwdriver in order to do that. Incredulous I asked the lady if she was serious. I own my own business and a big fan of supporting other local, small businesses. However, when it comes to my future hardware needs I'm going to the big box stores. I purchased some shelving components for a small project and I didn't get around to returning them immediately when I found they didn't fit properly. There was no return policy on the register receipt so was shocked to learn on my return trip that Belzer's wouldn't refund my money, and wouldn't even offer a credit. This was for $6 worth of unused shelving brackets. You must note and memorize the big "Terms of Sale" sign behind the register if you should patronize them. Pretty lousy customer support, in my opinion. read more
