Visited this place yesterday for free cone day. Place was very busy as expected, 20 minute wait for a free cone. But wait, I was upsaled and didn't notice until they asked for $3 for my FREE CONE...what? Apparently I ordered incorrect and received a waffle cone. I certainly felt like I was victim to the bait and switch. Normal flavor selection. Not really impressed, maybe because I had a sour taste in my mouth! Found this Ben & Jerry after walking around a bit. Outside is cute, with a few chairs. Inside is on the smaller side, but the decorations are very cute and colorful, with limited seating. They have premade ice cream cakes to the right in the refrigerator, but not a lot. The selection was pretty limited, but the staff was friendly and nice. I got to sit right by the door in the only available seat. At first, it wasn't busy when I first arrived, but it got busier after I sat down. read more

They have my usual favorites- Phish Food, Americone Dream, and sometimes have flavors that you can't get in grocery stores. I stop by every once in a while for a treat and I always visit on Free Cone Day, once a year in April! This shop partners with New Avenues for Youth, a non profit dedicated to the prevention of youth homelessness. Donations on Free Cone Day go to the organization! Came here for a sweet treat and it was perfect! Located near Pioneer Square it's super convenient to come by if you're shopping in the area. The inside of the shop was clean and the service was really nice. There were so many different options for ice cream and the staff gave so many good recommendations. I've rarely written a bad review since joining yelp, however, I just had to share the horrendous experience I had with the customer service presented at this establishment. I was never welcomed in and given rude glances as I made my request at the counter. The entire interaction was awkward and without any sort of conversation. Simply prompted to pay after I made my request. While the ice cream is of the quality in which Ben and Jerry's represents, I highly doubt the service is what they'd want conveyed at any of the institutions touting their names oh so proudly. Unfortunately, this was my first experience ever at a brick and mortar Ben and Jerry's and makes me fear extending an open arm to another one of their locations in the future. Hopefully there will be an update with which they either hire // develop their team members. read more

I went into the Ben & Jerry's ice cream shop in Portland Oregon to inquire whether or not they have coffee style milkshakes. From the beginning the young girl who helped me was very rude. When I would ask questions about the products she would ask me things like why are you asking me this? She kept giving me the most awful dirtiest looks. I kept my composure and luckily the manager stepped in and took control of the situation. She handed things smoothly and was very professional and efficient and I wish to thank her for her role. I don't recommend this place as long as that young girl is going to be rude to customers. I overheard her saying to the manager I don't understand why he's asking questions. read more

Horrible customer service. Came in w my two young kids to get ice cream, only two people in line ahead of us. The server, who never acknowledged anyone who walks in, worked for almost ten minutes putting together an order for the girls in line ahead of me, or at least I thought. During this time, many people walked both in and then ultimately out, with no greeting and no ice cream. It's like we didn't even exist. Like no ones business mattered at all! At one point the green-haired guy spent almost 2 whole minutes peeling off a fucking sticker to put in a bag. During that time 6 paying customers walked out. The other employee there was too busy doing something that was Obviously more important that serving customers or generating revenue for his business. When it became apparent that the order was not even for the girls in front of me, we had to leave. It had been ten minutes! Imagine explaining to a five year old that you didn't matter enough to have your order taken, and there would be notice cream. I feel bad for whoever owns this franchise. Employees like this are ruining your business, w not a care in the world how many paying customers they turn away, so long as they get their hourly wage. Good help is hard to find! If you want Ben and Jerry's, go to the store. Don't wast your time here. read more

OK, I grant you there are a few things (wink, wink), but when ice cream is involved, Ben & Jerry's ice cream is hard to beat. This shop has been around for quite awhile in this location. It's very clean. Staff members are friendly, responsive, and well trained. They get their orders correct and out to the customer in good time. The lemon flavour ice cream is so tangy and lemony. Very refreshing. Got a small in a cup for $4.50 and the serving was huge. Shared because I would not be able to eat all of it before it melted or gave myself a brain freeze. My sister got the coffee chocolate chip ice cream and it had a nice strong coffee flavour. The chocolate chips were okay but I could have done without them as there were a lot of them (small rectangle shape). The staff there wear tie dye shirts and are super cheerful and wacky. Not sure if it is a stunt but they sure made me smile. They were also very generous with sampling the different types of ice cream if you are like me and have a hard time making a decision. read more

Who doesn't love free ice cream?Every year they give away free cones and all kinds of stuff... This place is perfect for a refreshing treat when out exploring the heart of downtown's tourist stuff. Heck, even a cross-town MAX trip can benefit from a stop for a cone - and you just have to skip to the next train. Quick service and a clean customer area highlight a great effort to combat the corporate chain BS and provide quality ice creams while doing social good. It's not quite as spectacular as one of the local creamery flavors but you expect a solid experience each time (and little wait, because nobody needs to try each flavor before bying a freaking ice cream cone). Unless it's hot, and the weekend, and then, yeah, it's gonna be busy. But a nice afternoon in downtown Portland is always better with some Americone Dream dribbling down your chin as you head out to find your next adventure. read more

Sadly not impressed with today's visit. Came here to order an ice cream cake (because you're never too old to enjoy ice cream in a cake) and had to wait a while for the line to be acknowledged. A few people were ahead of me in line to get ice cream, but I never heard a "Welcome, we'll be right with you." People are in line to pay you money for some ice cream goodness. If you don't want them to leave (which I'm surprised no one did as the wait was about 12 minutes), my suggestion would be to just say "hey." It's as simple as that. With two people working behind the counter, I thought at least someone would've had better etiquette. When it got to me, I filled out the necessary paperwork to order my cake, and was done within a few minutes. You select your size (mini, small, medium, or large), 2 flavors of ice cream, and a chocolate chip cookie or brownie filling. Easy peasy. The guy who came out from the back to assist with making sure I completed the form correctly was pleasant, so I can't give this place just one star. I didn't have to pay until I receive the cake, which is a plus too. I'll feel better about this not-so-great experience when I eat the ice cream cake next week. read more

I always love a good Ben and Jerry's! However, this one fell short in a few places. It was super small, and on a busy Saturday evening, that can become a large issue. The workers also seemed to be working pretty slow, which also doesn't help the busy aspect either. However, the ice cream was great! We got there at 5:40 or so (no idea this place closed at 6) and we're treated absolutely awful for getting there so late. We were not acknowledged and upon checking out the employee (a bigger younger lady) was continuously saying, "DON'T DO IT" in reference to the next customers about to walk in. I recently ordered a cake through the website and it was to pick up at this location. Upon arriving after a hour of Portland traffic they inform me that they don't have the cake I ordered days before. The nice man called his manager who insisted that he got no email (I throughly believe that is not true). Then they tell me I can go to another location for a cake that is nothing like the cake that I special ordered for my anniversary because they have absolutely nothing they can give me. We ordered a Mango & More Smoothie & a Hot Fudge Sundae. The smoothie was only filled up 3/4 of the way then the lady swirled it around to make it look full. The sundae had so little hot fudge that got covered up by sprinkles it was pathetic. This is not a very good location. They have limited flavors available. Not only because they serve some of the best ice cream in the world, but because it's a location that works with youth to give the their first work experience. I'm completely and totally biased. Store hours said open until 8:00 PM but the employee had already closed the money drawer. If this location wishes to stop serving customers early then they need to change their posted business hours. They lost at least five customers tonight and we took our business to Baskin Robins who abides by their posted times. Will not be stopping by this location in the future as we were displeased by the horrible customer service. read more
