    Pain au chocolate

Sweetpea Baking Company is my favorite vegan bakery in Portland, Oregon! When I first became vegan years ago, it was actually one of the only vegan bakeries in Portland, Oregon. I always order my birthday cakes here and try as much as possible to get vegan pastries! The staff members are always so kind and friendly. I also love how there are different meals that you can buy and coffee with dairy alt. Milk. Great place to eat brunch and lunch with an area of open seating. I ordered the pain au chocolate and it was really delicious with the croissant, tasting very fluffy. Also the ube cookies are delicious! Highly recommend.

I absolutely love this vegan only cafe and it is must stop for me and my sister anytime we are in Portland and let me tell you why IT IS SOOOOO GOOD!! I don't know what they put in their pastries, breakfast sandwiches, cream cheeses or matcha lattes but I crave it all the time and stuff my face to the max every single time. They are a small bakery/cafe with a straight forward menu, they don't overdo it. The use very clean ingredients and make everything fresh but that will be obvious from the taste of all the food. Staff is very friendly, helpful and provided excellent service. The cafe is very clean and cute. Here is what I have ordered from here so far and literally everything was a 5/5 and had no complaints at all! Not common but very much true and deserved for this cafe. Almond Croissant - 5/5 soft and full of flavor Breakfast sandwich - 5/5 tofu scramble is the best I ever had. I'm usually not a fan of tofu unless fried because of the texture but this is totally different and is done so well and full of flavors. The tempeh also adds that nice smoky flavor. If you are not a fan of tofu please do me a favor and give this a try, I am almost sure you will change your mind. Bagel with bacon chive cream cheese (forgot to take pic) was 5/5. It was warm and the house-made cream cheese was very very good! Goes well with the tofu scramble if sharing a plate or on its own too. Matcha Latte with oatmilk 5/5 - very simple but like I said before they use high quality ingredients with local Matcha and very obvious from the first sip. I have only ever had 1 other matcha that was just as good and that was in Houston, TX. Overall, this is a must visit for vegans or non vegans. You cannot tell the difference, I promise you!!

Breakfast sammie was very filling and the bread was soft. Good fuel for a hike. I would have gone back if they were open later in the day!

Nice casual cafe for a quick breakfast or pastries to go. I arrived during the week upon opening and got their tofu scramble ($12), which comes with crumbled soft tofu seasoned to perfection with small amounts of spinach and red pepper, and accompanied by several pieces of tempeh bacon (basically tempeh with tons of liquid smoke). Quite tasty, though I would have preferred more spinach and red pepper in the scramble. It doesn't come with potatoes, but you can add that if you want. Pretty solid spot. Doesn't wise to the top of PDX's copious high-quality vegan breakfast spots, but this was very satisfying. Recommended for a quicker option or to go option.

I ordered my fiancés birthday cheesecake here. This cheesecake was INCREDIBLE. He is not vegan and he couldn't even tell that the cheesecake was vegan. The berries taste so fresh and the cheesecake is creamy and smooth. The whip cream on the edges is light and fluffy. It's hard to only eat one piece we could eat the whole thing in one sitting it is so tasty. The danishes were also delicious as well as the chocolate peanut butter bar. The staff made ordering a cake incredibly easy and had it ready in w yuck turn around time. The basketry itself is a small and very homey feeling bakery. When we went I instantly felt at home and very comfortable. Any vegan or non vegan who loves pastries and cheesecake should definitely stop by

Would kill to have one of these in Arizona. The location, seating, staff, and most importantly, food and coffee were all awesome. I had a really good Reuben with what tasted like Seitan and a side of pasta salad. It was very tasty and the perfect amount of food. Grabbed a vegetable cream cheese filled croissant to go and it made for a great breakfast the next day.

Sweetpea Baking Company is 100% vegan. They were Portland's first all-vegan bakery in 2005 and they've continued to be awesome at their SE Stark St location to this day. In addition to baked goods of all kinds (pastries, cakes, bagels, cookies), their storefront offers breakfast, soups, sandwiches, and more. Saturday is donut day and Monday is croughnut day. During COVID there wasn't/isn't much in the way of seating, so grab your items to-go. I believe it is street parking only. They also do a lot of wholesale, so you may see their logo on products in the grocery store or restaurant counter. I've primarily had their cupcakes and cookies secondhand in this way, though I've stopped by their store a few times for a specific order. It's always been a good option, in my opinion!

This is a cute little rustic bakery. The place is a little hard to find just because there really isn't any signage out front. We were greeted right away by the super friendly and helpful staff. My husband was goggle eyed at the giant cinnamon rolls and had to have one. I went for the breakfast sandwich. The cinnamon roll was gigantic, soft and sweet with a tender bread. The staff was nice enough to warm it for him and he tucked right in. My sandwich was piping hot and very flavorful. The tempeh bacon was wonderful! The sandwich filling was a little mushy for me but the flavor was so good it wasn't a big deal. We will definitely be back!

I've tried their bagels, sandwiches, and pastries. The pastries are delicious and very fresh, sometimes I don't believe they're vegan because the texture is so perfect. Last time I tried the bagel it wasn't good and it was missing the vegan meat I ordered so I removed one star. I also wish they knew what flavors of croissants they had the next day because they never know when I call :) other than that it's a great place!

I absolutely love this place. I wish they would open more locations so badly!! (One in Southern California perhaps...). My parents and I came here for brunch and we shared the tofu scramble, breakfast sandwich, and bacon cheddar quiche. We all loved the breakfast sandwich most, followed by the tofu scramble. The quiche wasn't our favorite but everything else really made up for that! We also shared a raspberry cream cheese danish and an almond ring. The danish was to die for! We also picked up some more pastries to take home and their danishes really are mind blowing. The blueberry cream cheese was my favorite!

This reminds me of the Korean cafes that are sprinkled all over Southern California. We were delighted to see it here! I ordered a black sesame late and a black sesame mochi donut. Being only one barista, right after you order, he makes your drink immediately. You can hear and see the espresso shots being made and the ice filling your cups. Dependent on your order, he pulls out the cream for the top. I can see the black sesame cream top being very thick and full. A lot of patrons were ordering their tiramisu latte, and I don't blame them! It's what is very popular here. Personally, I enjoyed the black sesame latte very much. It was the perfect amount of cream and sweetness. The taste didn't overpower the coffee, which is nice. Their mochi donuts were good, too, with the consistency of mochi dough. Definitely would make another stop here if I'm ever around!

They are located outdoors within a repurposed trimet station, which add such a a unique Portland touch to their vibe. Although usually a 1-2 person operation, drinks always come out relatively quick! I tried the tiramisu latte and the black sesame latte. The tiramisu latte was easily my favorite. The cream top is rich and delicious, and when mixed into the coffee it really tastes like a classic tiramisu dessert. It's sweet, smooth, and feels like a treat without being overwhelming. The black sesame latte was also great, especially if you like nutty flavors. It has a natural sweetness with a deep roasted sesame taste that almost reminds me of peanut butter, making it both comforting and unique. I've also had their regular latte before and really appreciate the quality of their espresso. The coffee itself has a smooth, balanced flavor that stands out even without added syrups or toppings. A great spot to visit if you enjoy creative specialty drinks but still want genuinely good coffee underneath it all.
