Amazing treats! There are so many wonderful options it was hard to choose. I ultimately chose the famous garlic bun and it was wonderful. My son had the cream cheese oero cookie and I don't recall any crumbs leftover. The owners were really friendly and would answer any and all questions. No indoor seating, but there ample options outside. read more

I reached out for a custom cake via email and was responded back pretty quickly to get the ball rolling! The menu option is made short and sweet allowing you to be a part of the process the entire way through. I do wish there was an order form though for me to fill out but that's just me! The day I went to go get the cake unfortunately the ac wasn't working properly that she had to troubleshoot that and was still working on my cake which was no issue for me at all! I was in no rush and things happen, I appreciated her being open and transparent with me. At the end she gave me these passionfruit pudding cups on the house for the wait which was so kind! And they were THE MOST DELICIOUS PUDDING IVE EVER HAD! I will definitely have to go in just to grab pastries next time! The shop is on the smaller side I feel like more than 2-3 customers is a crowd. I ordered multiple cakes for my daughter's farm theme birthday party. Sugar Blooms did an amazing job. They made sure all the cakes match the theme. The cake was beautiful and DELICIOUS. The fruit filling was rich and I like that it wasn't overly sweet. This is an A+ bakery right in the heart of Bethany. I am so glad that we finally have a quality bake shop in the area. read more

Grabbed a variety of things here after our Bethany library visit and to enjoy while our kids splashed around in the fountain. We tried: Kimchi bacon scone -- great weight and texture and crumb, neither the kimchi nor bacon component were overwhelming (maybe left me wanting more..?) Miso chocolate chip mochi cookie -- basically a cookie wrapped around a chewy mochi core Kochujang cookie -- also yummy, with hints of the chili spice coming thru Everything was tasty and I'm sure we'll make this a regular thing now! read more

I am so delighted that an Asian bakery opened in Bethany! The pastries are so creative and the taste is to die for. After much deliberation, lots of friendly advice, and some back and forth, I finally decided to try the taro cupcake and the Vietnamese coffee scone. They did not disappoint. Everything was light and not too sweet. The taro tasted so fresh and it was clear that the inside was real taro, not an flavor imitation. The scone in particular though was my absolute favorite. It was sweet, but balanced out with coffee bits inside. As someone who absolutely adores sweets, I'm so excited about their store opening!! 10/10 will come back and try everything :) read more

I stopped in the day after their grand opening and their cases were fully stocked with goodies. The bakery is very small and can only fit a few customers at a time making it difficult to scope out all the goods but service was quick and friendly. I decided on the mochi cookie for me and the brownie cookie for my boys. A little pricey for the cookies, the brownie cookie was large though. The mochi cookie texture and flavor was amazing! Super soft mochi and very strong coconut flavor in the cookie, would definitely be back for it. The brownie cookie was just ok and I wouldn't get again. The texture was crumbly and slightly bitter from the strong cocoa used. There were also super small nut chunks in it that gave it an odd texture, my son said he wouldn't want it again. Fantastic! This place is absolutely amazing. It's so nice that Bethany Village has a bakery! The cheesecake is THE BEST EVER! It is out of this world - galaxies near and far should worship this cheesecake. The tiramisu is perfect, light and creamy yet flavorful. The dacquoise cookies are also light and flavorful. It's not just sweets, their garlic buns - SO GOOD! Also their scones are really good as well, we had a bacon one with a kimchi glaze, that was so unique and delicious. 10/10 if I could live in this bakery I would. Was having a terrible day but decided I need to a sweet treat to pick me up. They had samples of four different flavors of dacquoise & I got the hojicha blackberry one. Tasty and not too sweet! Overpriced Yule log cake! $75 for a small cake all cream and ugly decorations. My family of 20 can't even finish 1/2 cake. This is what left after a week and we had to throw it away. Sorry no pictures from the beginning as it's so ugly that no one want to take pictures of it. read more

Sugar Blooms Bakery made our special day even more special with their wedding cakes! We got a two-tier cutting cake and three sheet cakes to feed our 80 guests. We got a cake sample box to taste the flavors before ordering, and chose vanilla buttercream frosted white cakes with chocolate, vanilla, and lemon curd fillings. All were a hit! Sugar Blooms was very easy to talk via email about our needs, questions, and expectations, and the results were amazing--both in terms of appearance and taste! Everyone told us how delicious the cakes were! We recommend them for any special occasion. And we love popping into the bakery for the occasional cookie or treat, which are also top tier! read more

I ordered a cake from Sugar Blooms for my sister's graduation. I was planning from out of town & planned to pick up the cake the night prior because I didn't have time the day of our event. She told me storing the cake overnight in a regular fridge could ruin the delicate design. She was so sweet and offered to deliver it to us instead! This helped me out and made my life so much easier!!! The cake was exactly what I asked for and absolutely gorgeous! We ended up picking four things to try: Vanilla Bean Kouign Amann ($7) - This pasty has a sweet yet salty exterior that's complementary in flavor rather than clashing. It's accentuated with a crunchy glazed and caramelized sugar layer that's on the sweeter side. The interior is interesting. There's a cavernous gap right in the center that's filled with a sickly sweet melted sugar syrup. It's unpleasantly sweet and very cloying. The puffed and filled area is large enough that it compresses the other layers so the kouign amann is dense. I've never had a kouign amann quite this sweet before. (3/5) Meyer Lemon Olive Oil Cake with Thyme ($5.50) - This cake is so moist and rich, thick and dense, fatty and rich, that it feels like I"m eating a slab of butter. I'm sure it has just as many calories too! It's quite sweet, although not nearly to the level of the kouign amann. Overall, it's just a really rich and decadent cake. (4/5) Blueberry + Vanilla Cream Brioche Donut w/ Earl Grey ($6) - The top of the pastry is dressed with a cream that has an unmistakably strong bergomot earl grey taste. I wish there was way more cream - there's essentially only a dab on top! The rest of the donut is filled with a custardy light blueberry and vanilla jam. It's not too sweet and has an excellent high quality blueberry fragrance, creating an exceptionally strong blueberry taste. The jam is not too thick and is somewhat syrupy from sugar. The donut itself is really soft and extremely airy. It's the fluffiest donut I've eaten in a long time. (5/5) Raspberry Rose Cruffin ($8.50) - This pastry has some fun dehydrated raspberries sprinkled right on top of a light and fluffy cream that's not too sweet. Although there weren't any ham sandwich in the display case, the woman at the register informed us that they'd be able to make one for us on the spot. The walnut roll had been sitting around in the case all day so the outside had developed a hardened crust that was a bit difficult to chew through. That said, the inside had plenty of walnuts, great flavor, and would have been really nice toasted up in an oven. The jambon-beurre here is as good as it gets: high quality butter on artisanal bread, with a simple piece of ham on top. The pickled onions and pickles on the side were a nice touch as well. I wish more places would offer a jambon-beurre, but sourcing high-quality bread and butter is probably the biggest challenge for businesses. If you're here to get one item, I'd highly recommend either a baguette, or the jambon-beurre.

Es-Yen A classic Thai-style iced coffee made with condensed milk. This was strong, sweet, and definitely had that much-needed wake-me-up effect! The condensed milk gave it a creamy sweetness while still allowing the bold coffee flavor to shine through. It was the perfect balance of sweet and strong exactly what I needed. Buttered & Sweetened Condensed Milk Toast I originally had my eye on the pandan toast, but it's clearly a popular choice because it was already sold out earlier in the day! So I went with the buttered and sweetened condensed milk toast instead, and I'm so glad I did. The toast was crispy on the outside, buttery, warm, and finished with that sweet condensed milk flavor. Every bite practically melted in my mouth. The pandan toast is definitely on my list for next time! My Portland experience was made even better by my stop at Kaleido Coffee. Maybe because of the plastic cup its packaged in. Stick to your fingers wonderful. The Saturday we went, the baker's husband was running the booth. He was very friendly and was distributing samples. We were given spoons with our cupcakes so we could eat it out of the cup. If I lived in Portland, I'd be here every weekend! One star off b/c of the environmentally unfriendliness of the plastic packaging. I realize that the plastic is probably helping to keep the cupcakes fresh, but that's a lot of landfill!
