I have been a customer here since 2021. My classroom aide (an East side resident) suggested this restaurant. I would describe the ambiance as a no-frills Chipotle. The staff is very nice. I have formed a bond with Maria who gives me a radiant smile when she sees me. I always order three vegetables tacos to go and two California burritos (also known as San Diego-style burritos) for my spouse and teen. The food is fresh and delicious. The staff does not skimp on the portion sizes. There are sufficient tables and chairs and everything looks tidy. The location is easy to bypass (in or behind a gas station and car wash) and very unassuming. I met up with some family here at Ben Paca, a place I had never even heard of, but most times those are some of the BEST hidden gems! First impression: Hmm, it's clean. Other than that it's a pretty basic restaurant. I like the name and found it funny. There were 2 people in line and they were speaking Spanish to the 2 guys behind the counter. I was nervous trying to pick my brain to remember the 3 years of elective Spanish I "learned" in high school so that I could order food. My mother in law was in front of me in line and she was the only one in our party that had been here before. She, in English (thank God cause I was sweating) ordered a burrito bowl with pollo (chicken) and asada. The setup is similar to Chipotle or Subway, you point at what fixings you'd like as you go down the line. I decided to stick with what she said was good and chose the same 2 meats. I also added pot beans, rice, onions, cilantro, guac, jalapeños, tomatoes, cheese, roasted corn, fajita style onions, and a mild salsa and a large horchata. I have to mention I wasn't that hungry when we got there so once I started eating I found myself picking at the bowl. It was good, but I felt like it was missing something. When I brought home the leftovers, I warmed it up and threw it inside a tortilla and added some sour cream. That's what it needed! My first going here it was bomb 2nd time I came here it was still smacking waited a couple of years before I had the chance to go again. I always order a burrito de cabeza. 3rd time I had the chance to go last week my burrito was served cold and didn't or hardly had any meat in it :( I didn't have enough time to go back to ask them if they can re warm due to I was in my lunch break. I ordered an Al Pastor burrito with refried beans, rice, pick de gallo, red salsa, cilantro and onions, and a bit of sour cream for my son. And I ordered a tripas and refried bean burrito for myself. It was easily one of the MOST delicious meals I've ever had!! Fresh ingredients and so flavorful and made to order! DO NOT GO HERE, I REPEAT: do NOT go here. On Fri, Oct 16th: A 1-inch metal staple/nail was found inside my burrito. This could have nearly impaled my mouth or throat, or stomach. I was eating right outside the shop when it happened so I went back in to honestly show them what had happened. EVEN WORSE, when I showed them they responded negligently - TAKING A PHONE ORDER and continuing to take in-person orders during the lunch hours while I was standing right in front of them with the burrito and nail in my hand. AND then when asked who the manager was, we were told different things from different employees and realize the supposed manager was lying through his teeth that he wasn't the manager. THESE WORKERS ARE UNPROFESSIONAL AND CARELESS. When we advised them to check the rest of their food for metal foreign objects, they DID NOT DO THIS AND KEPT TAKING ORDERS, acting like they did not understand or could not hear. They made an attempt to resolve the problem by refunding my money by cash so there would be no trace of this occurrence, doing the bare minimum they can without any other concern or thought. I am TRAUMATIZED by this and hope it never happens again in my life or to anyone else for that matter. Another note, while outside the shop when I was eating my burrito, I also noticed the worker who made my burrito run literally next door to pick up cases of Modelo beer, which I thought was odd because he was the cook. I would not put it past them that they were drinking alcohol while on the job, or intoxicated in other ways BECAUSE while making my burrito order, he initially made a random joke I did not understand and then messed up the order (a simple vegetarian burrito). It was clear to me that these employees did not give a f about their customers and food, AND that they only feared for themselves. SELFISH AND UNPROFESSIONAL AND IGNORANT. I am going to call the shop and speak to the owner and manager to report this happened. For reasons of this review, I wish I had a photo or kept the object, but in the heat of the moment, I was so shocked/emotional that the only thought was to confront them. I realize that I could have taken legal action but I was only grateful for not being severely hurt and able to walk away from it. read more

This is a small taqueria with the guys running it displaying their huge personalities. Really nice folks. It's laid out similar to a Chipotle with all the expected items.
