I have noticed a big difference in Summit Health lately. Covid took a toll on all health providers, but Summit Health has made a major turn for the positive. When my doctor submits a referral, I receive a call to schedule within a day. Recently needed to see a Neurosurgeon for a pinched nerve, which required surgery. I was called and had a scheduled visit in less than a week. Surgery was deemed necessary and it was scheduled in less than 2 weeks. The entire staff in the Neuro department was excellent. When the hospital screwed up resulting in my insurance denying the surgery, the Summit Neuro staff (Ruth) stepped right in and got everything resolved to the surgery could go on schedule. I cannot say enough about the care and caring team at Summit Health. read more

Saw John Pang MD for a swallowing issue. He briefly examined me and said everything looks good. That there was nothing he could help with. I went home disappointed. Then received a call from him saying he had called my GI doctor who explained the reason for the referral and now he can't help with a procedure. I was told his scheduler would call me. Waited 3 weeks and messaged them. Suddenly I was scheduled for a month out. Day of procedure just before my arrival time I was cancelled because he was running behind. No apology for wasting my day. This clinic has been a disappointment from the get go. I am going elsewhere. read more

my grandmother had an appointment to get an x-ray so we were waiting in line, while waiting i noticed a bald old man with absolutely no sense of style nor morals it seems going on and on and on about the same thing and the absolute angel of a receptionist who was dealing with this man baby kept trying to explain that she doesn't have the ability to do what he kept moaning on about. while that was happening my grandmother and i got called up RIGHT NEXT TO HIM (i put myself between the tantrum and my grandma for her safety), about 2 minutes in he started to degrade the receptionist at that point i couldn't hold my tongue anymore because bro you're a FULL GROWN MAN old and all and throwing a pissy fit over nothing, so i told him "maybe you should start acting kind and be graceful and not throw a fit" he started going after me telling me that i don't know what he's gone through (you could have been waterboarded and set on fire and you still would never have a reason to treat another person like that) and at that point everyone jumped in because he stepped forward and stuck his finger in my face (i would like to say thank you to the staff that did i appreciate you all). i would just like to say that the ENTIRE situation was handled so professionally and the entire staff on that side is absolutely amazing people and they genuinely care about people's well being. i do wish i got his picture because public shame would be the only thing to get people to start acting kind again. amazing place and amazing staff read more

Terrible. They seem plenty happy to charge me $200 per visit, then repeatedly tell me nothing is wrong until I ASK them to take an X-ray (because my symptoms had persisted over several months and at this point I was scared). Turns out I had "walking pneumonia", and it wasn't going away. They were practically pushing me out the door the second I got in the room. I do have to mention that I was coming in at the only time that didn't require me to take time off from work, so it was about an hour before the BMC closed. But that's no excuse to just push away sick people! Go to the other BMC, everyone I talk to locally says that one is good. read more

If you want to be treated like a cash cow being milked without care, this is the place to be. call center is understaffed, and you can never see your doctor when you need them. When you do, you are a file, a name with conditions they can't remember, even if you just saw them last week. It may be challenging to find a doctor outside of this health group, but I recommend finding better staffed and more caring professionals. BMC is horrible. read more

Went here when my wife was ill. Was told that it would be 100 to be seen and there may be other costs. Waited an hour to be seen by an EMT who didn't know the difference between two medicines. Then was seen by a PA, who did an adequate job. When we checked out we were told that there was an additional $41 charge for a procedure and medicine. Two weeks later we received a bill that said $530 for an office visit. Called them to discuss the bill and was told it was coded correctly and that we were charged for things the doctor did after we left, like writing up the notes. read more

My mom and I went to urgent care due to severe lower leg swelling. The PA (I believe Scott) saw her, thought critically about past diagnoses, came to his own conclusions, and not only made the referral but encouraged her to contact him if there were any bumps in the road. Thankfully, she then saw the correct specialist and is doing much better. Big thanks to Scott for his bedside manner, his critical thinking, and his ability to think past and around the bias that previous treatments sometimes cause. My children are patients of BMC. We go regularly to Pediatrics and Family Medicine, with one stop at Urgent Care. All have been good experiences as far as service and treatment. Dr. Mills is our pediatrician. Love her and the staff in Pediatrics. She really connects with my 12 year old daughter. Went today for an eye injury, after speaking with my daughter and looking at her eye, she called over to Ophthalmology and got us in immediately. This is just one example in the six years we have been going there, thoughtful and thorough treatment. I really like the way that she speaks with my daughter, asks relevant and meaningful questions regarding not only how she is feeling, but how school is going, how her social interactions are going, etc. Definitely treating the "whole" child. Dr. Boggess is my son's primary care physician. My son is 14 and wanted to see a doctor for adults. Dr. Boggess does a great job of relating and communicating with my son which is not always an easy task with a teenager. Urgent Care experience was again thoughtful and thorough. You have to wait, that's the nature of the game, but our wait was reasonable. All around pleased with the treatment my kids have received at BMC and would recommend to all. read more

Bend Memorial Clinic (BMC) Urgent Care appears to not want to actually offer Urgent care or see patients. My 6 yo daughter had a light fever a few days, then, on Saturday, things got much worse. She said her throat was really sore, couldn't swallow or talk, and was drooling everywhere. Her pediatrician (who we love) is at BMC pediatrics, so I head to the BMC Westside Urgent Care clinic. I arrive 245ish and carry my sick lethargic kid (who isn't small anymore!) into their 100% EMPTY waiting room. There's no one at the counter. So I wait until a woman finally shows up at the counter. A line of about 6 people has since formed behind me. She apologizes, then asks if I have an appointment. I say no. She says, "we're completely booked, so we're only seeing appointments." I say "well isn't this urgent care? " She says I could try their eastside clinic. En route, I call to make sure I don't need an appointment there. I say "Can I bring my daughter to you without an appointment?" The woman says in a snippy tone "you better hurry, we close at 4" (it's 3:10). I ask again if I need an appointment. She again snips, "we're a walk-in urgent care clinic". I arrive about 3:25. As I carry kiddo past the security guard he says "they have a 2 hour wait" I nod and continue. He then calls out loudly "ma'am, they have a 2-hour wait!" I say "Ok, thanks" over my shoulder and continue on. I find this waiting room also COMPLETELY EMPTY. The woman at the counter says "you're lucky, we usually are busy around this time." I set my daughter on the counter in front of me and start to do the check in process. Just then my stats retching, the lady behind the glass window points and says "there are bags right there". But they are too far for me to reach quickly, So I cup my hands to catch The mess and the lady gets up and walks the other direction, I think this is so she can come around out the door and help me. But she never appears. When I'm trying to dump the goo in my hands in a garbage can, the lady comes back to her desk and says "Oh sorry, I have a weak stomach and can't be around that (????) but we'll get her right in. The person who comes to do the exam checks temp and bp, looks in ears and throat. She says "her left tonsil is really swollen, it looks abcessed and may need to be drained. The only way to know for certain is to get a CAT scan and we don't have that here, so I need to send you across the street (to the hospital) and they can do that." I say "wow, a CAT scan?" And she says, "yeah, of course I don't know if they WILL do that, they may just do a strep test. But if they NEED the CAT scan they can do it over there, but we can't do it here" it just seems really awkward. We head over across to St Charles immediate care. They say it's odd BMC would send us to them for a CAT scan/drain because an abscess (if that's what it is) will respond to antibiotics so a drain would be a last resort. They quickly swab, take about 15 min to run the test, ID strep, prescribe antibiotics and some steroid liquid for the swollen tonsil, and we head home. Easy peasy . So here are my musing about BMC: 1. WHY would BMC even OFFER a westside urgent care clinic if they are only going to accept appointments? And if this is the case, why isn't this policy advertised or signed anywhere? Preferably online, or at least signs before you haul a sick kid all the way in from your car? " 2. How is it, with over an hour left of office time and an EMPTY waiting room the Westside clinic says they are completely booked (unless you have an appointment)? Does this mean they truly only see people with appointments? If so, maybe they should change their name to "Saturday appointment clinic" 3. Why is the bmc operator so snippy and at 3:10 telling me to hurry on a 15 min drive across town instead of assuring me I have plenty of time to make it by 4 to a walk in clinic? 4. Why is the security guard at the eastside clinic insistent on stopping my trek towards the urgent care waiting room with a story about a 2-hour wait only to find the waiting room empty? 5. Why is the eastside clinic receptionist seemingly supporting the guards 2-hour wait story by telling me I'm lucky because they are usually very busy? 6. Why is it a receptionist at an urgent care facility has a "weak stomach"? that seems like she's in the wrong job. Why does no one even make an attempt to help with the vomiting episode? 7. Why would the BMC examining practitioner not try to administer a strep test herself? The idea of a CAT scan as the first thing for a swollen tonsil seemed really ludicrous. It felt like she just wanted to get rid of us, like everyone else we came into contact with at BMC on this not so fine Saturday. read more

BMC "urgent care" at the westside location is now by appointment only! Don't waste your time going here if you actually need URGENT care, you will be told to make an appointment and come back later. This used to be our go-to for urgent care, always received good care here and were always happy. However we tried to take our severely dehydrated and lethargic one year old there this past weekend and were turned away, told to make an appointment for several hours later. She obviously didn't have several hours to wait, so we went somewhere else. Note: the eastside BMC urgent care is still the regular walk in urgent care. read more

Very efficient! I needed to have my 6 month old seen and when I called, they got me an appointment for 6:00 that evening. I got a call mid day from an advice Nurse with questions about her symptoms to make sure urgent care was the appropriate treatment. The PA Jay was so quick and nice, was straight to the point and didn't waste anyone's time. I paid a $100 fee because they couldn't verify my insurance, which wasn't there fault, and I feel that is a reasonable fee to be seen at a medical clinic even if I didn't have insurance. I was in and out of there in twenty minutes. I have NEVER been to an urgent care where I didn't have to wait HOURS. I am so thankful I didn't have to sit in a waiting room for ours with two babies. Horrible staff! I did my research and found Cindy Shuman, PA at BMC. After one visit and a $400 bill, I realized the new meds she had just prescribed weren't a fit. After spending several minutes being routed through the BMC phone directory, I finally spoke to someone on her staff and asked if Cindy could call me back and prescribe a new medication. After about a week of phone tag, her (rude and condescending) staff let me know Cindy wouldn't change my meds unless I came in for another (expensive) office visit. No thanks, I'll find another doctor who will work with me and return my calls. read more

I've been looking for a primary care doctor. Finally was given an appointment with a Dr Jennifer Mitchell. On the day of my appointment her office called to inform me she would see me that day but did not want any more medicare patients. The appointment had been made three weeks prior. What a huge disappointment. read more

Terrible. Would not recommend to anyone. Waited three months for an appointment as a new patient, and what I thought would be a physical turned out to be a consult appointment only. Now have to wait another two months for a physical! I also see a specialist for a serious health condition and BMC continually looses the orders from my specialist for tests. I've spend countless hours ping ponging around at BMC trying to track the orders down for tests I desperately need. The solution - my specialist sent me the orders and I had to hand carry them to BMC. These guys are a joke. read more

I recommend trying a different urgent care. No focus on the patient what so ever. Very disappointing...customer service is lacking, no transparency of pricing at all, and there was nothing fast or convenient. I want an urgent care to be actually be urgent and this place is very slow. When I tried to get some information about what my visit would cost, no one could tell me actual prices. BMC Urgent Care does a great job marketing but I don't see them backing it up with quality service. Thankfully there are other Urgent Care choices with much better ratings. read more

I have never been so frustrated with medical staff before. I was there for 6.5 hours and for most of that time I could hear the staff just sitting at their computers talking about their personal life and laughing up a storm while every room was full, every time they told me something would take about 20 minutes it took an hour and a half, being busy is one thing but they were just standing around talking. I spent maybe a total of 30-45 minutes talking to staff. Not one time did they come in and let me know that the doc was busy or anything until they heard me on the phone with my wife complaining and even then when the guy came in to tell me that they didn't forget about me he had an attitude. BMC at the Old Mill is the best doctor experience I have ever had. they are very efficient, allowing for appointments for Urgent Care. The gal at the front desk was very nice. I noticed how she interacted with other patients also and she was very kind to all. The nurse that checked me in was fantastic and also very friendly. She hooked up my records from California. The PA, Theresa, was wonderful. She helped me with some good advice on a medication taper, and also helped finalize my records and hook me in to the Bend community. Great group of people. Let me preface this by saying that I am from out of town (1,600 miles away) and I am visiting relatives. I have never been to this location before, but it was in network for my insurance company. I twisted my knee very badly while skiing at Mount bachelor. I went into BMC on a Friday afternoon. There was only one other patient in the waiting room, so it was not busy at all. However, my visit from the time I checked in to the time I was given my diagnosis and walked out of the building lasted at least 3 hours. THREE HOURS. I was told that I "may have torn my ACL" and would be receiving a follow up call to schedule an MRI and make an appointment with a specialist. First off let me say I would have appreciated a definite answer as to whether had torn my ACL or not, I mean that's a pretty major injury, however i was more than willing to wait a few days to make an appointment with a specialist and get an MRI to confirm. It has been four days and I have not received any call. So I took it upon myself to call back and inquire about the MRI and appointment. To summarize I was told that they don't really know when I can get an MRI and that to make an appointment with the specialist it might take a month because they are booked. The receptionist told me that I would be called back as soon as they knew. I was told this was due to insurance. So here I am hobbling around with a Velcro knee brace they gave me, immobile and in pain, on vacation not able to do much and no solution in sight because I don't know if I tore my ACL or not. We have lived in Bend for 30 years and have gone to about all the urgent care facilities in town. BMC at the Old Mill Is the worst I have ever seen. We were there three hours and 10 minutes and when we arrived there were six people in the waiting room ahead of us. After an hour and a half of waiting we finally sat for five minutes with the triage nurse. 15 minutes later we were lead to the exam room and waited another 45 minutes until the doctor came in. The doctor saw me for 4 minutes, ordered a chest x-ray (possible pneumonia). The x-ray went quickly, followed by a nebulizer treatment which took five minutes. The doctor came back some 15 minutes later, spent four minutes with me and prescribed anabiotic's. Total time there three hours 10 minutes, 8 total minutes Physician contact time and 10 minutes nurse contact time. Expecting the bill to be around $500. Suggestion - go ANYWHERE but here if you aren't feeling well! This clinic is The epitome of mismanagement. The staff were not friendly or welcoming - my guess is they get so many complaints and angry patients that they are on guard. Must be a hard place to work at. read more

I went in on a Friday evening of a 3 day weekend with the WORST toothache of my life!!! They prescribed a "mild" pain reliever, which I CANNOT TAKE, and I told them this, so they offered me NOTHING for pain relief! Feel like being treated like a piece of S**T, worthless, not even worth your oxygen drug-addict, when you're actually an upstanding citizen / mother just seeking pain relief (and anti-biotic, which they did gladly prescribe), until you can get to the dentist, then by all means, GO HERE! If you want to be treated like a human being, go to St. Charles Immediate Care! We moved to the South end of town recently, which is the ONLY reason I decided to go to BMC, and actually only because I was in too much pain to drive all the way to St. Charles and back... REGRET, REGRET, REGRET! No better than my last visit to BMC back in 2005, which I swore I'd never do again! Listen to your first instincts people... if they sucked 10 + years ago, they probably STILL DO!!!! Also, listen to the experiences and reviews of others and lets get this place off the planet, and make our planet a better place for it! read more
