Whenever I go to Racine, it's an absolute necessity to stop at Bendsen's for one or more Kringles. Heck, sometimes this stop is my primary reason for making the drive to Racine in the first place. These amazing pastry creations seem to be little-known outside of this region of the country. It's a shame, because they are that good. I've been coming here for years and am always happy with the selections and quality of kringle. I get the turtle, the pecan, the raspberry (with and without cheese), and usually buy a couple of travel boxes to transport the delicious denmark delicasies home safely. General kringle is $9 and goes up from there depending on the extras like cheese. I only buy the kringle, but on the other side of the shop are donuts and other sweet delectables for sale at a great price. Maybe next year I'll splurge on a cream puff. read more

We stopped by here quick for breakfast based on reviews and other recommendations we've had. Overall it was really good, just don't overdo it bc the pastries are pretty sweet. The cronut was the sweetest of what we got, but melted in your mouth. The apple elephant ear was delicious, as was the pecan Kringle. Christmas orders must be placed well in advance due to high demand. I ordered mine in October. I received a call on December 19th stating that the head baker was rushed to the hospital for a day and unfortunately I won't be getting my Kringle until January 7th and I had the option to cancel the order. I have to imagine there are more than one person making Kringle for orders placed in October. I was told there would be no discount or compensation . Poor customer service. Try a different Kringle spot. Very disappointed in this small family run business. UPDATE: it is now December 26th and I still haven't received a call from the manager about a refund. To be clear, I never received the Kringle I paid for in October NOR did I get my money back despite the calls I made. I went to get him some for his birthday, 50 minute drive, and met the sister of the current owner who was working in the store (still in the family after 85 years). Super nice people. Been indulging the Kringle's from here since the early 90's. There is NO question they are superior to all the other Racine area offerings. Why you ask? I confirmed thus far from ALL (Larsen's, O&H and a few others) except Lehmann's thus far, that they ALL use margarine in their Kringles and other baked goods. 1st that is a virtual SIN in Wisconsin, THE dairy state! Margarine is like poison to the system (a molecule from being plastic) and horrid for one's body as has been discovered by medical science. Not to even mention the shear flavor difference. So kudo's to Bendtsen's as the virtually ONLY bakery that does not use that garbage to produce their creations. Butter and butter ONLY! No wonder they taste superior. read more

What a FABULOUS place!!! Absolutely original. Super staff!!! I picked up 3 Kringle - pineapple-pecan, raspberry-cheese, and Turtle. Took them to work. They were such a hit that I'm still hearing about it weeks later. While I was in the shop, another customer recommended that I buy a box (additional $1.50) to transport them home. He said the boxes are worth every penny and he was right. Each Kringle was so good I couldn't decide on a favorite! Bendtsen's Kringle are still hand-made and they are one of the last shops to produce them that way. Maybe THE last shop by now. HIGHLY recommend! My lady found this place on either tv or online, but this does not matter what is important is Bendtsen's is so good I could curse. Being that we live in Las Vegas and the bakery is in Wi we ordered the tasty treats through the mail. Delivered as promised and fresh as if I had made a local bakery run Bendtsen's danish kringles were at my door and making my mouth sing like Frank Sinatra!! Where were you danish ladies all my life? lol We ordered peacon, apple, and rasberry. Each was as good as the next, they have many other flavors to choose. Just say yes. Get Kringle-ized. Racine has several good Kringle spots, but this is the one. They ship and the product freezes well for up to a couple of months--but why would you do that? The Racine Kringle is well known in the Midwest. The Kringle here is fantastic. Fresh and delicious. But the secret at Bendtsen's is the cinnamon rolls. One could feed 4 people. They are covered in an amazing sugar icing. Oh, it is wonderful. I've had 4 or 5 different items and at least 8 flavors of their Kringle and I have loved them all. read more

Good flavor however for $9.50 i expected more filling and not just dough pressed together. I even called the manager and she said that people prefer it. I cannot imagine people wanting all crust and hardly no filling! Not sure its worth going back. We got here in the afternoon on our way from Chicago to Milwaukee, hoping for a place to sit and relax to try a bit of kringle - and hoping for a restroom. Loved the fact that we could get pieces of kringle (pecan, yum) instead of having to buy a whole one, and it tasted excellent. There were chairs at a window counter, but no restroom - appeared to be mostly a place to take your pastries to go. So we ate our pastries on the run and continued down the road. read more

If I could give more stars I would. I don't live in Wisconsin but my friend does. We met at a Green Bay game and hit it off. We were talking about food one day and she mentioned Kringle. My heart jumped for joy I've only had it while in Wisconsin.... My husband lived there for a while and never had it so on our next trip we had to get some. It was decent when I took him and he loved it. Being so far away in California it's no where to be found. So my amazing new friend actually shipped me some from your bakery!!!! Must say your packaging is amazing the freshness is beyond what I expected..... Then to get to the Kringle review ..... OH MY GOSH the absolute BEST KRINGLE I have ever had in my life.
