Apparently, kringles are famous in Racine because the Danish brought these in 1800s. A friend recommended this place and we had a chat with Beven, one of the store employees. Most of the kringles are frosted except the apples one where they got caramel or sugar topping. Think they start at $11 each and about one pound each. We sampled the pecans one and it was a bit too sweet. Ended up getting the croissants, elephant ears and some apricot pockets. They also sell donuts, bagel, breads, etc. $5 min purchase to use credit card.

I made a trip back to the old home town, and this is one place I will not be driving by, without a stop. Bendtsen's has the best kringle in Racine. I'm not even going to entertain an opposition. In fact, it is the best bakery (IMO) in Southeastern Wisconsin. The wife and I arrived a little late on last Saturday, but late is better than never. The wife is a butterscotch fan. I know, she's 92 year old woman trapped in a 43 year olds body, but you can't deny it is a tasty flavor. We purchased one of those kringle varieties, a couple of croissant donuts, an elephant ear, and we should of gotten that last German Rye, but we just bought two loaves of Italian bread from Cardinalis. Next time for sure. All the items we purchased (and consumed) were outstanding. I mean that whole heartedly. OUTSTANDING. The one thing I didn't score, and was sad about, was a seven sisters. That is my childhood favorite. I will be back just to get me one of those. I will call ahead and make sure it is set aside. Tasting the kringle brought back happy childhood memories. In fact, it was better than when I was a kid!! I'm glad to see you are still in business, and I will be calling an order soon. Keep up the great quality, guys!!

Bendtsen's is a homey fourth generation mom-and-pop operation and the David in the David and Goliath kringle competition in Racine (with bigger and better known O&H Danish Bakery).  While in the area, we were happy to swing by and try one of their kringles.  We were directed towards Bendtsen's a little while back by a couple of famous and kringle loving Yelpers with Wisconsin roots.  They're so famous I don't even need to mention names. We arrived at about 4pm on a Tuesday and there were a few kringles left.  Grace was our lovely and friendly local girl attendant and shared with us that they make the only hand made (versus machine made) kringles in Racine.  We wanted almond (our favorite flavor), but they were out of those so we settled for a pecan.  The wife also picked up a loaf of white bread ($3.75), another basic favorite bakery item of ours.  Most of the kringles go for $10, but a few do go for $12.  Both items were quite nice.  As we both don't have particularly strong sweet tooth(s), we did however find the pecan slightly over-sweet for us, duhh!  It had plenty of pecan filling unlike another reviewer whom I noticed complained about not enough filling, ha. Anyway, t'was nice to try and for now, I'll have to honestly give my kringle nod to O&H, but it's all a matter of personal taste and they both make great kringles.  To make a fairer comparison, we'll try to make it back one day, and at an earlier time, to try their almond kringle.

This is what you get if you order a Kringle online from Bendtsen's Bakery. A soggy, mushy, misshaped mess.

Ordered two Kringles online. Received Heat Damaged and Handling Damaged. I don't blame them for the damage caused by UPS. But I do blame them for not answering my emails and my messaging through their web site. Wasted nearly $50. A bakery that doesn't stand behind their baked goods is a bakery I can live without.

I'm a visitor and unfamiliar with kringles, but the ones I bought were awesome and so were the people in the shop.

Stopped in to purchase two Kringle, found out they don't take Discover. So I had to go across the street to Larsons Bakery.

Well, here we are again. Another birthday month and a big thank you to Ohlaf for the discount…read more I may have found my favorite Kringle flavor - Salted Caramel! I saw it as a new seasonal flavor that could be ordered for delivery right up until my birthday. The only problem I was running into was that my wife was giving up sweets again for Lent, which was starting before my birthday. Rather than saving her a frozen piece until Easter, or not sharing it with her at all, I scheduled it to be delivered today, a Friday, so we could enjoy it over this weekend. Now the only question is whether it will even make it to the weekend. I don't know how to explain how delicious it is other than to say the flavor of the chopped pecans on top along with a blended sprinkling of coarse salt and sugar are just an introduction to your palate in preparation for you to next enjoy the caramel filling oozing out of your warmed slice. Or should I say SLICES? You know you can't stop at just one. Oh, so good. I hope this new flavor will return for years to come.

They make the official Wisconsin state pastry - The Kringle, a 36 layer oval pastry that takes days to make, I've had this & it's wonderful. For this occasion I ordered online & had delivered an Almond Custard Seven Sister Coffee Cake. The coffee cake was yummy. It's a classic Danish pastry made into seven rolls - rich, buttery & flaky with a smooth almond custard filling topped with a sweet glaze & almonds. From their website they say, " this coffee cake is named from a prominent constellation of stars that the Danish sailors used for seafaring navigation". The coffee cake made for a delicious breakfast & a great treat!

Very clean, tons of options. They make so much more than just Kringle (although Kringle is the best). Everyone we met was extremely friendly and very knowledgeable about the history of O&H. I have so much more respect for this business now. It's wonderful.

The Bjorn: O&H Danish Bakery opened in 1949 and has been family owned for four generations…read more Although they're known primarily for their Kringles, their sweet roll of the month for April is the Bjorn. Bjorn means bear in Danish, which is an appropriate name for this treat that resembles a bear claw pastry. O&H's sweet roll is filled with cream cheese and a strip of rich chocolate. Additionally, it is dipped in silky chocolate and finished with a honey glaze. It may be a "bear claw", but this thing was like an elephant's foot, it was massive! My taste buds were enthralled by the perfect combination of sweet and salty (there's pinches of it on the honey glazed portion). Although the filling is thin, looks can be deceiving as it packs more than enough flavor. The portion glazed in honey's flavor reminded me a bit of honey twist pretzels, while the texture of the chocolate end evoked memories of a dipped cone. Texturally the pastry itself is pleasantly chewy. I'm not a hunter, but if literal bear claws tasted like these then I'd be the next Theodore Roosevelt. Doughboy approved Doughboy_Food_Reviews
