It was my first time going to the BrowBar and it didn't disappoint. After a small wait, I was greeted by Millie. She is super sweet and this girl really knows her stuff. She did an eyebrow assessment of my current brows and we were both surprised they were in a perfect arch already (score!) All she had to do was just take off the excess and make them neater. The process was surprisingly painless (I've had my eyebrows threaded, waxed, and plucked) so I was really surprised how quick and easy everything was. Afterward, Millie showed me to how to apply makeup up on them if I wanted (I told her I normally left my brows alone because I just didn't know how to do them) and she even recommended products to me. 5 Stars for Nancy! Be sure to request for her because she is excellent and a friendly esthetician. I came to the Benefit Brow Bar (located in Macy's on the 1st floor with all of the cosmetics) this afternoon around 12:30 pm ish and unfortunately no one was manning the brow bar. I asked an employee at the nearest cosmetic counter and she told me that Nancy (who was the one working today) might have just gone on a break and that I could leave my number and that she could call me when she returns. I said that I could just browse around and come back in 10 minutes. So as I walked away and headed towards the purses to browse, shortly after, Nancy was behind me to let me know that an employee let her know that I was interested in getting a service at the brow bar. I told her that I was here in getting a brow wax. I told her that I received an email from Macy's that the brow wax would be a free birthday treat (normally this service is $29, you have 1 week to redeem this special freebie from your birthday). She was very friendly and explained to me what she would do and the side effects of the wax (redness, itchiness, in the area that is waxed), which I appreciated as I explained to her that I have never received a professional brow wax before. Nancy was really a delight to speak to and made me feel as if I was speaking to an old friend. She showed me the difference from my waxed brow to my non waxed brow. And when she finished my other eyebrow, she showed me the finished product. Being so pale and pigment challenged (and with incredibly sensitive skin) I of course had redness above my eyebrows. Nancy told me the redness usually goes away in ~ 20 minutes but that with sensitive skin, it may take longer. She offered to put concealer and powder to hide the redness, which I accepted. She did a great job and told me that it is important to press the powder instead of swipe it, as it may leave streaks. I was afraid that service and friendliness would be nonexistent or not stellar because I would be receiving this brow service free for my birthday, but Nancy treated me the same as a paying customer. She gave me her business card so that I can maintain my eyebrows in the future. Overall, I would come back here again for other services in the future. By the way, you are welcomed to make an appointment, but according to one employee I spoke to yesterday, they are usually not busy until 2 pm and on. So if you walk in during the week day like I did, most likely you won't have to wait (or wait too long, my brow wax was about 15- 20 minutes). read more

Overdue review for Millie. I've been going to Millie a few months short of a year now for my brows. She is def my favorite brow girl I ever let touch my brows. She fixed the shape of my brows in 3 sessions. She'll listens to your concerns on how you want them to look and has given tips on how to maintain my brows in between sessions. I've also gotten lash services from her as well and even though she warns me they'll only last a couple of days, I've had some lashes stay up to a week or longer at times. Rudest customer service! I waited 30 minutes and there was no attendant in the area to assist me. I had to flag them down at another counter. I asked if anyone who works at the Benefit counter. One of the ladies said she did whose name is Ashley. Ashley was extremely unprofessional. She said with an attitude "What do you want?" AVOID! AVOID! AVOID! Absolutely NO workers available at all! My best friend and I waited 25 minutes for assistance and we got absolutely NO SERVICE!!! NO WORKERS in site!!! NOTHING!!! I noticed all the other counters had attendants except Benefit. The Benefit counter at Santa Anita is TERRIBLE and the ABSOLUTE WORSE. I will NEVER go back there again ! I have been brand loyal to Benefit for years but after this experience I am switching to a new cosmetic line. Amy is the best! What makes Benefit Brow Bar stand out compared to other eyebrow places IMO is that the esthetician communicate with their clients. I've had my eyebrows done by Jennifer (no longer work at this location), Nancy and my favorite, Amy! I've put my faith in the ladies of the threading community with my eyebrows and I'm left with thin shortened eyebrows. Same with the local nail salon's waxing services. Also Benefit is super sanitary. They DO NOT double dip the wax sticks unlike the questionable nail salon room or the end threads that are inside the threader's mouth. Estheticians at Benefit will measure how your brows will be depending on your face shape and from there YOU can make adjustments to how YOU prefer them to be. More arch? Less arch? Straight? KPop brows? Express yourself, I can't stress the importance of having beautiful brows. It's nice to be able to see the end result before waxing it off. If I knew about Benefit's service, I would've saved my eyebrows and ditched the threading trend!!! I have told Amy about the history of my eyebrows, what it's gone through (tragedy), and places I have visited for my brow service. She has definitely helped me achieve my ideal brows so far (fuller and longer) and really gave me a lot of hope every time I come back. Amy is not pushy with appointments and is super honest. If she sees that your brows are not ready to be waxed she will set a date to when she thinks you will be ready. A handwritten friendly reminder card will be given once the next appointment is booked and the day prior to the appointment, someone will call to remind and confirm your appointment. Like all good things, you get what you pay for. For the affordable price of $21 (used to be $20), I'm truly am happy with the service and result that I receive. It's very easy to book an appointment. I took my mom here because she wanted her eyebrows done. We usually get our eyebrows threaded, but she had heard about the Benefit brow bar from her friend and wanted to check it out. Millie helped us out, and she was really friendly from the start. She said she was able to squeeze her in, in between appointments. They had fun conversation and my mom enjoyed the experience so much that she told me I had to leave a Yelp review. After the service, there were other girls that helped out with showing my mom some other skincare stuff that I didn't understand. But she also enjoyed that experience. If you are coming here for the first time I must tell you to make an appointment with NANCY. Nancy, nancy nancy! I was introduced to her by a friend at the Dior shop and another friend who doesn't work in cosmetics. I've also brought my sister and cousins to get their brows shaped. Why? Well I really enjoy how friendly and informative she is. She isn't intimidating at all. Nancy will sit you down, talk to you about what you want or you can tell her. She'll take brow makeup and fill it in and show you if you have concerns on balance and thickness of the brow. They use a sensitive wax to quickly remove any hairs and Nancy plucks to get any stray hairs. Every time I've been to this Brow Bar and are very hygenic. After the wax they wipe a soothing gel and will touch up your make up due to any redness that occurs naturally from waxing. The only "bad" thing is that people will stare at you ask you get this done. Oh well, that is the price we pay to have nice brows. read more

I haven't had my brows waxed in years as I have been getting them threaded for the past 6-8 years so I was definitely hesitant to go back to waxing. However, I was walking through the cosmetics department and saw another lady in the chair as Millie was beginning to service her brows. Benefit's Brow Bar is my go to for getting my eyebrows waxed. The Arcadia Macy's location is closer to my house but the parking is a nightmare. If you are in the Pasadena area I would recommend the BrowBar in the Macy's off of Lake instead. Parking is much more manageable there. The Arcadia location also seems to be a bit busier which may make the process a bit more stressful. read more

My eyebrows were horrible before coming here. I had been growing them out because my last experience at Ziba was miserable. The brow technician took 50 minutes to completely screw up my eyebrow shape on both sides and she made them so uneven. I came to Benefit hoping to start somewhere great in reshaping them to get them back to normal. Nancy was so sweet and talkative and made me feel like I was talking to one of my girlfriends! Before Nancy waxes, she traces your brow with powder to confirm the shape with you. She is very diligent and precise. She works one brow at a time and shows you after she is done with each brow. Something I appreciate about Nancy is that she is a good communicator. I told her what I wanted and she replied in a way that made me feel heard. I went in the other day to get my eyebrows done. The girl that was shaping the eyebrows was just finishing up so there was no wait. She was on the quiet side so there was not much conversation. From my understanding, She has being shaping eyebrows for over 5 years so that made me feel good. She finished my service and told me I have to grow a few hairs to grow out I was okay with that. However, as I was about to pay I recalled that they offer a complemantary eyebrow service on the week of your birthday. I asked just in case and it turns out that I was able to get the service done for free!
