Was unable to adjust the sugar level for the mango sago but it wasn't as sweet as I would think and was more on the creamier side. It was definitely my favorite of the two, but wish it was a little colder since it was a hot day. I wasn't able to taste much of the tea for the brûlée since the milk overpowered the drink. A second visit to BenGong's, and this time, I tried one of their top drinks - the peach oolong milk tea! As for their milk teas, they use a base of water, creamer, and other ingredients. I once again got full sugar, which was a good decision. It was delicious and smooth, and the peach oolong milk tea was surprisingly sweeter than the orange jasmine tea I got last time. However, I was a bit disappointed because I wished that the oolong flavor could've had more center stage. It also came with barley as a topping which had the consistency of popping boba, but a taste similar to rice. My sister got the orange jasmine tea again and she definitely enjoyed the tea more the first time. As the place is relatively new, I understand that the employees are likely still learning. My parents and I have been coming here for the past few months now(it's their favorite boba milk tea shop), and it's been general pretty good. I usually get the peach oolong milk tea with oatmilk and boba. Today, however, my parents bought us our usual drink for my partner and I and at first sip it tasted off. It tasted like it had fermented(alcoholic and bitter) and gone bad. There was also no sugar(even though we asked for 25%) and no boba even though my parents paid for the add ons. They have a wide selection of interesting drinks that makes it a little hard to decide if it's your first time here, but the cashier girl was very sweet with helping us pick our drinks. We got the Orange jasmine tea and Burnt sugar boba milk tea, both at half sweetness. The boba milk tea is perfect at half sweetness, the cheese foam adds a nice creaminess to the drink and the boba is soft and chewy. The orange fruit tea is lighter and refreshing, a little less sweet than i expected, but it's a perfect drink for a hot day. What's also noteworthy is the inside, they have a wish tree thing which I thought was pretty cool and unique. We ordered the Uji Matcha Cheese Slush & Purple Taro cheese slush. We usually order our drinks with less sugar as we prefer less sweet drinks, but seeing as this was our first time at BenGong's, we asked the staff for their recommendations for sweetness. The guy working the front suggested that we get 100% sweetness for the drinks due to the drinks having very mild sweetness to begin with. I ordered my taro drink with 75% sugar while my boyfriend ordered his uji matcha drink with 100% sugar. Both drinks came out to be soooo overwhelmingly sweet that our mouths almost burned from the sugar. We felt super bad for asking for the staff to remake our drinks, but they were so gracious and remade both of our drinks free of charge. Even after they remade the drinks to 25% for the taro and 50% for the matcha, both drinks were still so so sweet. The taro was literally the color of ube with what I can only assume is food coloring, and the taro paste itself tasted so sweet and unlike actual taro paste. The boba was also inconsistent from boba to boba - some were really soft and QQ while other boba balls were really hard. This was also one of the first times that I couldn't finish my boba drink. I'm usually that friend in the group who makes a cup of boba disappear in less than 10 min after ordering it LOL I'd give this shop 1/5 for the obscene amount of sugar in the drinks and inconsistent boba quality, but because of how great the team at BenGong's was, I'm adding an extra star to my review. As for whether or not I'd come back again, I'd much rather prefer Sunright for their authentic taro paste milk tea or Omomo for the Omomo Matcha. There are other shops out there who do the same drinks soooo much better. read more
