So after a bad experience! I decided to try this restaurant one more time. Another big mistake. I decided to go in and dine in to skip the bad experience I had last time. They prior times I have went. I would get two Emperors feast meals, with drinks and even Sake. Always about $100.00 including tip. Well on this return. I got no Alcohol beverages. just two regular drinks and two Emperor's Feast meals. When I got the check. $181.00. I have no idea how this could have happened. This was during the super bowl. Guess they charged me for being there during the game! Maybe punishment for my last review!? I was so angry, I just paid and left. I will NEVER! EVER! dine here again or any other for that matter. This time we had my one year old 85 lb Service Dog with us. So we asked if there was a booth to eat in. So we could stay out of everyone's way in the main dining hall. Staff were so kind and guided us to the lounge. We were seated at a perfect table. Arianna served us immediately, and kindly. Our drinks were brought to us right away, along with the sides we asked for. Before we could finish our California Roll... out came: Soup and Salad. While we were trying to finish a the wonderful sides (and the I'm telling you, it was really nice eating in the lounge. Unless you've never eaten in the main dining hall) The manager Cliff, was hands on. He brought our main course out, was so polite. Asked if we needed anything. My husband asked for more water to which Cliff immediately served him. It was very quiet on this side also with, beautiful decorations. The prices are still the same, very much worth what you get. Food's good, but this restaurant is a 2-hr ordeal, even with a reservation. Mt Fuji is better imo, food and all. Came in with a reservation, waited a few mins to be seated. Placed orders, but waited a while for chef to show up. Then cooktime/showtime was pretty long, but he was conversing and cracking jokes, so that was fine. Ordered rare steak, but some pieces were still basically raw. I guess that's the risk that comes with it though. Chef gave me mushrooms but hardly cooked them at all. We had reservations at 6:00 PM for a party of five and arrived about 5 minutes early. When we checked in, we were told the wait would be 15-20 minutes. After that, we were repeatedly told we were "next to be seated," but that never turned out to be true. In reality, we weren't seated until 7:30 PM -- an hour and a half after our reservation time. The lack of honest communication was incredibly frustrating. We could have made a different decision if we had been given accurate information instead of being told over and over that we were next. Once seated, the experience was fine, but the poor reservation management and misleading wait times really took away from the evening. The manager said we could get a discount, but that was also a lie. The total price was VERY expensive for 5 people. The bill was very confusing, they had to reprint it over 5 times, each time giving us a completely different review. For some friends' birthdays we decided to do a nostalgic birthday dinner at Benihana. We had a reservation for a larger group and checked in 10 minutes before our 7:30 reservation time. We were not seated until after 8pm and staff did not accommodate us with anything for the extended wait. Our waitresses were kind and got all of the orders right. There were some delays or forgetting of requests for sauces or drinks but that is to be expected with a larger party. The chef at my teppenyaki table was not nearly as fun and animated as the neighboring table, but the food was still cooked well. We tried a sushi appetizer but it definitely is something you can skip. The white fish included was tough and we did not finish it. Overall, I think the memories of what Benihana used to be when we were young are better than what it is today. I'd probably opt for your local hibachi restaurant over Benihana because of how busy it is and the very high price point. read more

visited the Benihana in Denver on 4/19/26 for dinner after seeing it listed on Resy and expecting a more elevated hibachi experience. Unfortunately, the visit did not meet expectations, especially given the price point. The evening started with slow service. It took about 10 minutes to receive the onion soup and salad, and our server mentioned the restaurant was short-staffed. The dining room felt stretched, and there was no visible management support to help with service flow. The hibachi portion of the meal was where most of the issues occurred. The chef appeared disorganized and had difficulty keeping tickets straight. All of the steaks were overcooked, including a Wagyu steak that was an added upcharge. Requested temperatures were not followed. At one point, an incorrect steak was prepared for a guest, and instead of remaking it immediately, the situation caused delays while others at the table had already been served. Two shrimp entrées were also missed initially and later cooked on a grill that was clearly not reset, resulting in food that was overly charred. My meal included ice cream for dessert. I ordered it, but when the check arrived, I noticed it had been given to other guests at the table. At that point, I chose to leave. One additional observation: the suggested tip amounts on the printed receipt were calculated pre‑tax, while the payment tablet displayed suggested tips based on the post‑tax total. This inconsistency felt confusing, particularly while being rushed through the payment process. Overall, the experience did not align with the cost of the meal (close to $200 for two people). I was really disappointed with my Benihana experience in Denver. I was looking for a Hibachi restaurant and, having been to many in Texas and Florida, I had high hopes. This was one of the few (if not the only one) nearby. I ended up sitting at the bar because there was no seating available. If you plan to visit, make sure to make a reservation. The bar was empty, and there are additional seating tables in the bar area. If you're in a crunch or don't have a reservation, I highly recommend the bar area. However, there's no 'hibachi' show, so if that's what you're after, the bar might not be for you. The bartender and hosts were very nice, and I had no issues with the service. The problem was the food--taste, quality, and price. We spent over $100 for very mediocre food. The rice was bland, and the soup wasn't great. Having been to several hibachi locations in other states, this was by far the worst one I've been to. With a name like Benihana, I expected better, but it was a very unfortunate experience. We took a party of 7 for our brothers 50th birthday. We had one person in our group with a gluten allergy, which has always been accommodated in past visits. The service was questionable immediately. The person with the gluten allergy was served the regular soup, which is not gluten free. Thankfully, they had dined here before and knew the soup should have been different. The soup was changed out and apologies were made. Great. We continued on. We had five people on our check order double fried rice. During the cooking process, the chef tossed food made with gluten onto the plate of the person who has the gluten allergy, rendering their meal not edible for them. Only two of the five people received double rice, and the chef said "well that's weird. I didn't get enough rice." All 7 were charged for double rice when our check came. Also in full on the check was the ruined meal. When we let the waiter know, he got a "manager" to come out. They offered to remake the gluten free food, or provide an alcoholic beverage, all of which were declined. The waiter had a flat amount removed from the bill After the manager offered no resolution. We made dinner reservations a week in advance, and arrived on time. When we arrived, we were informed that they were 40 minutes late on seating reservations. As a guess, I'd say between 50-70 other people were waiting for tables both inside and outside the restaurant. We spoke with another party who did not make reservations, and they said they had been waiting over an hour. We also spoke with a party leaving who stopped to complain at the host stand. That described their meal as "chaos". We ended up waiting 40 minutes and were told there were still 3 tables ahead of us, and they could not give us an estimate as to when we could be seated. We left and went elsewhere. We would not recommend this establishment to anyone, as this event smacks of bad management. Mothers Day reservations. Resturant was a bit over booked but we were able to be seated within 30" of our reservation which was appreciated. Our son and hi fiancé paid for our meals and we had the added bonus of seeing a business acquaintance and his family and we got seated at the same table. The food was delicious and the chef (Phil) was polite, intuitive, entertaining and did everything in the proper order. He made sure we were all engaged and that he had all the instructions for each of our orders down pat. He kept the conversation going and we were all engaged with him. Also, Erin, our server was excellent. Took our drink and food orders efficiently and and brought refills when needed. Cleared the table to and brought desert and to go boxes. Came here for my birthday and they refused to honor the birthday gift certificate that THEY sent me because it was Christmas Eve. But on the certificate, it said the only day it can't be redeemed is on Christmas Day. Thọ's place is poorly run and they don't even know their own policy. Worst experience of my life. Had a 7:30pm reservation and they didn't even start cooking until 8:50pm. No water or drink services between initial drink order and mid-dinner. At one point, we had to do all of our own water runs and dish clearing throughout most of our dinner. The table next to us was seated after us, and they moved efficiently throughout the entire meal. Someone from the back brought our soup out finally, and she handed it to my son with her thumb stuck in his soup. The chef burnt everything and not just brown, food was black on the bottom. He over seasoned everything with salt, there was salt everywhere. He overseas the rice, it was drenched in soy sauce. He also didn't do any of the traditional tricks. He did the heart with the rice and the onion fire. Nothing else. I'm not sure if anybody said something because there was a 5% reduction on our ticket but no manager ever came over and apologized for the experience. Every meal at that table should've been on the house. It was barely edible and that was $40 plus per plate. The waitress would disappear for long periods so we finally were able to pay at 9 PM. That was it. That's the entire meal. I've had more food fall off my plate by accident than what they actually served me. And the taste? Bland, overcooked, and somehow still underwhelming. Each chef kind of has their own show and some are better than others (the table next to us got this whole thing with a train and the flaming onion tower and we just got a little bit of the flaming onion). Definitely a group/family atmosphere--hard to tell if it's more of an upscale vibe or a casual dinner vibe because there was all types of clientele. If you try nothing else, you must get the chicken fried rice. It's so good, I could have just eaten that. Come hungry because you will leave stuffed and with leftovers.
