Tonight is my daughter's last night in SLC. It was only right to end her stay with a fun dinner! Hibachi sounded like a fun time so we headed to Benihana's for dinner. We made our reservation for 5:30. Checked in and got sat. We were seated next to another family. The mom was celebrating her birthday with her 2 boys. Amya took care of us tonight. The other part of the table got their orders started and taken care of. Amya did a great job getting us taken care of and up to speed. My daughter and I did look over the menu before dinner so that helped the process move a little faster. Ramon cooked for us tonight. He did such a great job! Everything was seasoned nicely. My veggies were all slightly charred from the grill. My chicken and steak was cooked to perfection. I asked for a side of yum yum sauce. My favorite is dipping my veggies and chicken in it. I made sure I packed every bit of my plate to go. I look forward to finishing it tomorrow. It's been years since I have been to Benihana's. And every time it's been fun and memorable. Tonight's visit will have a special place in my heart. Dinner was perfect. I got to spend a great night with my daughter before she heads home. Food was fantastic! Service was stellar. If I'm ever in these neck of the woods again, I will most definitely be making a stop here again.

The establishment was tucked away from the street and one has to look hard for this wonderful restaurant. It was a nice Friday afternoon and I had the pleasure of being treated to a terrific culinary experience by Giovanni. He is an ex trucker and now he is living his best life as a cook. Attentive, humorous, engaging, and lively he made the whole eating the meal an experience that it is at Benihana's. The floor manager added a level of humor to the conversation. His name starts with a Ph...And he is From Tibet. His grasp of customer service and his friendly banter certainly added to the experience. Hats off to Giovanni and his wife who served us and made our meal extraordinary. the upstairs lounge was ambient and was dressed up in cherry blossom. Thanks Benihana's.

We visited Benihana and reserved Teppanyaki table seating upstairs. The location is a bit hidden (you can enter from Temple or 200), but easy enough to find. The upstairs area had very low ceilings and got quite smoky during peak time, which was a little uncomfortable. Our cook was kind, though the show wasn't quite what it used to be, and our waitress was attentive and very nice. Portions of soup and salad were standard, but there's currently a $7.50 upcharge for fried rice, which felt steep. The veggies were minimal, just onion and a bit of zucchini (and they added mushrooms to filet) which was underwhelming for the price. My filet and shrimp with fried rice came to nearly $60. The food itself tasted good, but overall the experience didn't quite match the cost, and I'm not sure I'd return to this location.

    Double portion chicken fried rice

I ordered DoorDash while I was in town working and saw bennis was on here so I was like hell yeahhhhh fried rice!! They let you buy singles and multiple portions. This is all I wanted so I got a double portion. They definitely do a much better job when you are table side. Not only do they chop the protein down, but they cook it into your rice. This was a weird sloppy version: janky chicken portion precooked and on top of rice. There was also no garlic butter cooked into the rice per usual table side show either. I bought a couple sauces on the side but was sad that Diablo sauce wasn't an option. My driver didn't try getting it (per my note-not the restaurant's fault) and they didn't have my drink. They told me to go through DD to get a refund on my drink. Kind of disappointed on the order. Very grateful for the utensils requested though.

Hit up Benihana's for lunch today. It was great! I was seated quickly and the service was fast. The chef created a fun atmosphere and did all the cool showy things, onion volcano and what not. I ordered the lunch boat special. It was delicious and filling. I particularly enjoyed the sauces that accompany the meal. Everything was really tasty. They flavored lemonades are very good.

Rockeys Choice. Steak overcooked. Chicken pieces, soggy chopped up veggies. Caked in butter.

We booked reservations for our Christmas Day dinner. Worst experience ever. Had to wait 30 plus minutes. Then got seated and it was freezing by the windows. Chef came out and barely said hi. Started cooking and didn't speak the entire time. Half of the experience is to go and be entertained. Everyone else had pinchers at their tables talking, laughing, doing the onion volcano, choo choo train, throwing shrimp to catch, you name it. Nothing. And there were two little kids at the table watching others. He cooked and cooked and cooked the meat. Just kept adding more and more spoonfuls of butter. My daughter got served her chicken first and it was another 10 min for us to get ours. They don't cook that way. They do it all together and serve it up to everyone at the same time. But he separated and just kept adding more and more butter. It was inedible at that point. He cut the pieces so small it was like cat food. Two steaks were suppose to be medium and one medium rare. All were well done. Again cooked and cooked with more and more butter. Inedible. Veggies? Worst. He chopped them up into tiny pieces. Overcooked, tons of butter, soggy and didn't ever give us mushrooms. And he even left some of the onions on the tray that was brought out and never cooked them up. My daughter ordered Benihana Delight and only got 3 pieces of shrimp. Overcooked. And for the price? Half her meal was shrimp. Usually they butterfly and cook. These were just whole and overcooked! He poured the sauces but didn't tell us what they were. Gave the fried rice to the wrong person, then took it back and passed it to who ordered it. That's not ok with food. Once it hits a persons plate you aren't suppose to give it to someone else. Yuck!! Bathrooms were a mess. No toilet paper and no paper towel. I complained and so someone went in and stuck a roll on top of the container. Not inside properly. I went to take to the manger on duty and he didn't want to hear anything. And told me to just leave. Tried to show him the photos I took so he could have reference to what was going on and said to put my phone away. Never been treated with such disrespect for paying $70 a meal!!! This was suppose to be our Christmas dinner and we left hungry and angry!!! Also the prices have gone way up...$7 for upgrade to fried rice or noodles?! The poor family next to us the mom got her salmon at the very end. 45 min later! And it was destroyed as he kept pulling it apart to see if it was cooked. He was a disaster and should have never been allowed to be a chef at that level and when we pay that kind of money. And to have the manager be so rude and dismissive was the point that I decided I'd leave a review and let my expense be known. It took over 2 hrs an we even left before the ice cream was offered!! Horrible. The unit saving grace was our waitress, I believe her name was Mia.

Great food, entertainment and service. The only negative about Benihana is you have to wash all your clothes when you get home.

Avoid at all costs. My husband and I both got food poisoning afterwards. Steak and shrimp were both undercooked. Shrimp was not opaque or firm. We both othered medium rare steak as part of our entrees and it was raw in the middle and steamed, instead of seared, on the outside. I also ordered a mojito. I was asked whether I wanted it alcoholic or non alcoholic. I clarified alcoholic and the drink came out non alcoholic. We had a 3pm reservation. Our order was not taken until 3:20pm. Soup and salad were served at 3:30pm. The chef did not start cooking around 3:40pm. At 4pm, while I was still finishing my entree, our server brought out the check and demanded payment while I was still eating and asked for our dessert order. She brought out the ice cream shortly after, again while I was still eating my meal. Overall, a very unpleasant experience.

We were there early on a Sunday evening. The food was good, but very overpriced. Charge $7.50 each for fried rice is ridiculous. The vegetables included an onion & zucchini. Service was good but she was overworked and working 2 tables I could see leaving her struggling to keep up. The ambience was noisy and made having a conversation across your table difficult. I have had better and been to better places

The service was fine, the best of the show was the recorded video. First time Benihana experience it was fun, not all I thought it would be though. The food was solid, the French onion soup was delicious. I also liked the yakisoba, that being said everything was a little bit salty. Ambience was fine, it was very fun and loud. Not my cup of tea, I would prefer a private booth area to sitting next to other parties.

Very disappointed in tonight's service. Sat at the grill within 5 minutes of entering. Great! But…read morethe server never came around to get our drink order. A gentleman finally got up to go strike a match under someone's year end. The young female server comes over half grumpily with a slight wannabe smile, and takes our drink order. She brings most of the drinks fairly quickly. But doesn't even attempt to ask if we're ready to order and we've been there 25ish minutes waiting?! The grill across from us got sat after us and by the time she came back to see if we were ready to order, they were done with the show and eating. *InsertEyeRoll*. She took our orders, repeating them and went on her way and shortly returned with our soup and salad. A few more minutes go by just barely before our cook shows up. He gets asking about everyone's orders and meat preference. Awesome. He starts his show, as always... scrambled eggs and rice first right?! Unfortunately, out of 8 of us 7 ordered fried rice, one steamed. Server brought out steamed rice to the one, and cook dishes out 5 bowls of fried rice. Two of us question where our rice was. So they have to prep and cook in the kitchen. Like WTAF?! But whatever... Cook was good, but not overly funny. He didn't even use the funny oil peeing boy (IYKYK) which my 9yo old always gets excited about. Food was cooked just right IMO but server never came back to refill drinks or see if we needed anything. They don't have yum yum sauce it's something much runnier which was disappointing. After the cook was done, they were practically rushing us out, by picking up plates, offering boxes, and setting new clean dishwater near the grill. I'm glad that they are efficient, but where's my server? Where's my water & wine refill? For a Friday evening and NOT very busy, I was really bummed for how horrible our experience and service was. This is one of the best teppanyaki restaurants around. This server didn't do her job and our last 5 star experience turned to a 3 star and was underwhelming sadly.
