Would be 0 if I could, I normally love Benihana, but there's something seriously wrong at this location. We made reservations and it still took the at least 30 minutes to seat us. Another 29 minutes to ask for drink orders- still no chef in sight. When we got the hot tea, it was cold. Not sure what the issues were, but the table next to us seemed to have an issue with spoiled food and sent a bunch back. Manager no where to be found. We left after an hour. read more

My husband and I went on a Friday afternoon to catch their Happy Hour and found out that because it was Valentine's Day the next day (Saturday), they cancelled their Happy Hour for the Friday before. When we asked the Manager about it, they stated because it was a holiday weekend. Last time I checked, Valentine's Day was only one day. We stated we came for the Happy Hour and they had no problem letting us walk out. Between drinks and food, even with Happy Hour, we still would have spent over a $100. MY BIRTHDAY DINNER WAS RUINED In 40 years this is the absolute worst chef I've ever seen at Benihana's. They just opened the new location in Temecula so we went down to check it out. Our Chef, OMG! This guy couldn't slice, couldn't dice, made the onion volcano upside down and nearly set the table on fire. Burned the fried rice, and badly overcooked one gentleman's steak, even though he was verbalizing "you're cooking my steak too much". OMG Just watching this mess was an exhausting experience. Finally, the FIRST Benihanas in Riverside County. Was it worth the wait? Absolutely Yes! Let me start off with, for some, it's much easier to write a one star versus a five star, to speak negative then to speak positive. It's ridiculous to see all these negative reviews when it couldn't be further from the truth. I've been here three times and each experience has been nothing but great! Make a reservation. It just opened and everyone is going to want in. All of my visits have been made with reservations and we never had to wait more then 10 minutes after checking in. I've been to several locations including the one in Japan and this by far is my favorite location and probably one of the most spacious. I'd definitely recommend hosting your celebrations here. Our visits have been both for lunch and dinner. Both experiences equally superb. I love the energy of the Teppan chefs! Cooking in front of strangers and being judge could not be easy. I could never and that's why I'm on the other side of table watching the show. My go to is always the Ocean Treasure, shrimp and scallop with chicken fried rice. Ask the chef for melted butter. It's mouthwatering when you combine the hot butter to your seafood! Not a fan of seafood? Try the Hibachi supreme which is 8.5 ounces of their center cut tenderloin. It's so delicious! But if you want the best of both worlds, go the the deluxe treat which is Filet Mignon and Lobster tail. Treat yourself. You deserve it. You're going to receive great service. I have been to Benihana before, but this was the first time at this location. The restaurant is nice, but I think Mission Valley location is a lot nicer. We were somewhat disappointed with our visit. It could be because the place is still new and adjusting. The chef was okay, he was clearly inexperienced. The server was really nice and she tried. The drink I had was ok. We had the lunch specials; unfortunately, we felt sick afterwards and one of us threw up. I don't think we will come here again unless reviews drastically improve. read more

We had a reservation for 8PM and were finally seated at 9:40PM. Then we sat for nearly 45 minutes before our chef came out. The soup wasn't warm and the portions were real small especially for what they charged. Our chef was great though and he helped salvage the night. I don't anticipate going back anytime soon. Shogun is a better alternative as the prices are the same but the portions are much bigger. read more

So I've debated writing this review for a couple days. We went to this restaurant Sunday night. Called ahead (several hours) for a party of 7. When we arrived they had our numbers wrong. Not a big deal. We added a chair but ended up cramming in with another family. Then we waited 1.5 hrs before they even came out and cooked. Food was mediocre at best. I ordered from the recommended favorites list and selected Shrimp Tempura and Spicy shrimp fried rice. My husband ordered the combo of wings with chicken fried rice Employees were welcoming and the restaurant looked very clean. Picking up our order was quick. The food was disappointing. Bland, low quality and definitely not reminiscent of the Benihana I remember. One of the saddest looking and tasting fried rice I ever had. No green onions, egg or even peas in sight. They chopped up some shrimp, added rice and some spicy sauce. The shrimp tempura was ok.My husband was equally disappointed with his meal and stopped eating after a few bites. Overall, this was disappointing and a total waste given the amount of food we threw away. Hopefully, the employees receive more and better training because this was awful. read more

My advice is to pay attention to the reviews about how long this place takes to get your meal and make sure you're good with it before you come. The food was up to par with other Benihanas I've been to and we really enjoyed our chef, our waitress was very sweet and accommodating and the bar staff was quick and efficient. Luckily we also really enjoyed the couples we met at our table and had some good conversations going because our chef didn't get to our table until over an hour after we sat down. My bf and I talked about how awkward this would have been to wait that long if we didn't make friends. We were not there on a busy weekend night, and it was a Monday evening reservation. I was a little weary to go to this location since it's new and had such poor reviews. But Chef Jose and our server Felicia and the rest of the staff were on top of everything. My party and I arrived and I checked us in since we had a reservation. As we waited we went and ordered a drink from the bar. Great service and the drinks came out super fast. Shortly after, we were seated at our table. Felicia came and introduced herself as our server and literally made sure we were good to go the entire time. She made sure our drinks were filled and was just super attentive to our table. We started with the crispy rice appetizer. I've not had this appetizer where the rice was super crispy like we had it. I can't tell if I prefer the rice to be so crunchy or not. The appetizer was great nonetheless. Chef Jose came out and he was so entertaining. He even did a magic trick lol. I go to Benihana every year to redeem my birthday certificate and I don't know what it was tonight but the food was sooooo good. My filet mignon was cooked to perfection and tossed in garlic butter. Yum! The fried rice and my shrimp were both on point as well. Overall I'd say give this location a try. Maybe we got lucky with the waitstaff or maybe we didn't. A little unorganized since the restaurant was handed over to corporate. Several locations has issues with keeping the restrooms clean.
