We came here for the first time on Monday night to treat our guests visiting from DC. They were very psyched about the experience we were going to have. Well sadly it was totally disappointing. We had a reservation and showed up on time. They sat us in about 15 minutes. The guy who takes the orders came over maybe 20 minutes later. We ordered drinks and our food orders (extremely pricey by the way). Then we had to wait probably an hour before the cook came over. He noticed the first guy forgot to turn on the grill and was not happy. Because of that the evening was a bust. He didn't do anything fun with the food. He made one joke about low sodium, high sodium. There was no "show " to watch. He was cooking on a grill that wasn't even hot. It was the most lackluster performance we've ever seen in a Japanese steak house. The fried rice was served after the meal was finished. What a bummer of a night which cost us over $400 for 4 people. Went here for my birthday. We made reservations for 7:45. We got taken back to the table 7:50. Waited over an hour and a half before the chef came out. When he did, he had the wrong steak for my husband. He had to go get the right one. Our food wasn't finished being cooked til 10pm!!!! When my husband cut into and took a bite of his medium rare steak, it was cold still! We had our kids with us! If our chef wasn't going to be available for so long, they shouldn't have sat us! Had a reservation and we checked in early. We were taken in near our reservation time, 3:15 but after being seated we waited until 4:06 for any chef to come out and actually begin cooking our food. They gave us our soup and salads and we had to wait about another 30 minutes after this. Having the time in between waiting really only built up our whole party to be even hungrier due to now having something small, making the mood sour. We had little kids as well and it's hard to explain to them the situation of waiting as they don't understand shift exchanges. Our chef Raymond was great, very kind and silly. I've been waiting to try Benihana and went on 11/12. I was seated quickly. I joined a small table with 2 other parties of 3 and I was by myself but never felt awkward. I liked the vibe inside the restaurant. Our beverage and lunch orders were taken soon after being seated. There was an hour wait before our chef Jose arrived. He put on a great show and the food was delicious despite being understaffed. It seemed to take a little longer to get all the food cooked but our appetizers were comped because of the delay which helped. The staff kept our drinks filled and the managers kept checking on us. Without alcohol my lunch order was $40 including tip and a small dessert. The total time I was there was 2.5 hours so don't try to squeeze this in during a lunch break. I typically love this place but this time around it was one of the worst experiences I have ever had. For starters we waited over an hour just to get seated I had my reservation for 6:30 didn't get seated until 7:45pm. I understand it's Saturday and they over booked that's not on the customer. After being seated to get food was horrible timing. The waiter took long and you can tell he was stressed. The food wasn't bad it was the timing and the un organization. The managers were telling the cooks not to talk to the customers to focus on cooking and get them out. Overall horrible experience. Not spending $150 on horrible service. read more

Save yourself the trouble and stay away from this particular Benihana! We sat at a full table of 8 and our chef Anthony failed to confirm everyone's order before he started cooking which resulted in one person's plate to remain empty the entire time he was there. A couple who was supposed to share one meal instead received two full orders while my son who had the biggest order at our table had an empty plate which he blamed on the waitress. He filled everyone's plates and not once did he question why one plate remained empty as he cleaned off the grill. Our waitress Casey apologized and had someone in the back make a fresh order for him as everyone was finishing up their meal. The "fresh" meal when it finally did come was unfortunately cold and as a consolation, he received a free cup of chicken fried rice which was also cold. Then as my son was finally eating his cold meal, the waitress started to push the to go boxes as the table was needed to be cleared for the next unsuspecting customers. Unacceptable! If you want hibachi go to Shogun or Arashi instead of Benihana in Temecula; the food is way better, their chefs have personality and you know it's money well spent. Finally a Benihana's in the area!! We went tonight for their grand opening and from start to finish the service was top notch!! The open concept makes this location look much bigger than others.
