Somewhat confusing system of ordering, picking up, and paying however the staff is very friendly and quick. The options here are endless. My review is based on these options and the two items we got. We ordered the chicken Caesar pasta and a speciality sandwich. It was a hot sandwich with hot peppers, chicken cutlet, with an aioli sauce. Both dishes were delicious! I stop by here based on yelp reviews and had high expectations. However the focaccia of the day (with grilled vegetables ) was severely lacking in flavor as well as texture. It was also dry. Since the pandemic ended, Bennie's has chosen not to return to their regular store model--no more are the high tops where you could enjoy waiting for your sandwich, and gone is the little room to the side where you might choose to dine in. In fact, they installed the incredibly impersonal order kiosks. So, they are following the Wawa model. The once necessary number taking machine seems to have been deemed unnecessary, as it was no where to be found. When I asked for a Buffalo chicken stromboli, I was told they were sold out. The pepperoni and cheese ones were, too. Huh. The case had multiple strombolis labeled as those two exact varieties. The girl behind the counter just shrugged when I suggested that they fix their labels. Apathy at its finest. So, I settled for another variety and opted for chicken cutlet and arancini, two of the few items in their formerly well stocked refrigerator case. The apathetic girl couldn't hold back her sneeze as she packed my food in plastic containers. Upon check out, I paid with card (and it's a good thing I was over the $10 minimum!) and was prompted to leave a tip. For what? After I paid, she asked if I'd like a reusable bag. Which are 50 cents each. Since I had several items to carry, I said yes please. She looked immediately befuddled because I had already paid. Then, she walked over to the brown paper bags, thought for a moment, and then told me she wasn't supposed to "give out" the brown bags. Seriously? A brown bag is vilified, but all the plastic used to package my food is perfectly sensible? I left, without a bag, balancing 3 containers of food and a bag of crostini. Oh, and a Philly Special stromboli--the exact opposite of what I wanted. Sorry, Bennie's, your glory days are gone. read more

I used to love Benny's. They were my go-to for entertaining. But they now have few prepared foods behind the glass case, which now is filled with empty white pastry boxes. The sales person told me they still make all of the same things but the case with all the plastic containers was almost empty. Additionally, it is more visually appealing to see the food in the case and I believe most people think it is fresher than plastic containers stacked in a refrigerator case. When we were in town to see a parade on Saturday morning, we passed Bennie's, and thought they looked good. Most people order food to go, but there are also four tables in the back for "dining in" (you still have to order up front). Bennie's is filled with baked goods such as breads and desserts, as well as pizza. The margherita pizza looked tasty, so we ordered that and split it among three people. There were a handful of people here at the time, and our wait time was probably about 10 minutes. The pizza tasted great; it was a little crispy, the sauce was good, and the basil tasted fresh. My only major complaint about the pizza was that it only comes in one size. Also, there are some drinks available in the fridge, but not too much to chose from. If I am back in the area, would I return to Bennie's? Absolutely! read more

Covid is no longer a thing... there's no excuse to be rude to your customers regardless of the time they enter your establishment. If you close at 4 and I come at 3:20 I don't need to be reprimanded for asking if you have pizells. The guy actually said "thats what you get when you come in at 3:30, we're sold out" (it's not like they have to serve them they're usually in bags on the counter). TLDR: Very local spot. Excellent food. Get your drinks first, then sandwiches and don't skip the cannoli! Bread is fresh and great. Recommend the hot sandwiches. And the cannoli is the best I've ever had!! They are made to order. Super crispy shell with smooth filling and not too much chocolate. Couple downside's the ordering system is a bit confusing bc there's no real line for sandwiches but a line for bread/ drink orders. This may just be an East coast thing that I'm not used to. Only certain breads can be used for the sandwiches, which was hard to see from their sign. We ordered some pastries cannolis to go after our sandwiches but they insisted on splitting the order for some reason. read more
