They even have a cold version during the summer. How refreshing!! We also really loved the appetizers here. I love how reasonably priced everything was. We were led to our seats and once we were given the menu, we started studying it meticulously. I got the HINODEYA "House" Ramen, my wife got the Beef Bowl "Gyudon", and our friend got a ramen with katsu in it. They asked me if I wanted my ramen mild, medium or hot in spiciness. I went with the medium option. I enjoyed my ramen. The broth was well made but I didn't notice much difference between the wheat noodle they've used versus normal noodle used in other shops. The portion was not big for its price and I was about 80% full from the bowl. When I tasted a bite of my wife's beef bowl, boy was I disappointed. They added way too much sauce and honestly I can't say this dish is good. The beef wasn't cut in the traditional way in how a gyudon should be and it turned out a little bit thicker which is a little weird for me. I would compared it to a Yoshinoya and the irony is that I actually like the beef bowl from Yoshinoya better at half the price? lol. Our friend shared a little bit of her katsu with us and we thought it was way too dry. Perhaps it's been sitting at the heat lamp for way too long... Overall, what I feel about Hinodeya is that they've definitely have some unique ideas in their dishes but the execution and consistency still needs to be worked on. I noticed that there were 4 different spicy level and I was a little curious as to what they were. It wasn't until I asked the waiter that they explained them to us. I was a little puzzled because this seems to be what they wanted to push but we just weren't told to us in our visit until way later... It's a 50/50 whether I'll come back or not. I think there are definitely improvements for a good ramen spot that people would crowd upon in the bay area for sure.

Our favorite was the lobster/filet mignon combo dinner and the XO roll. The filet mignon was perfectly cooked and tender. I enjoyed the lobster being cut into pieces rather than the giant meat in the tail. The XO was the chef's recommendation and was honestly one of the best seared salmon sushi we had. Would come back again!

It doesn't look like much from the outside, but the inside is tranquil, clean, and modern. The staff were extremely friendly and since it's not a large restaurant, it felt like they were very attentive. I noticed this restaurant offers a small room for those who need to pray. It's also a halal restaurant so you'll notice this on the menu since they do not offer alcohol or pork items. One of my favorite discoveries of this restaurant is the chicken teriyaki roll. I feel like more restaurants need to offer this! I loved it! Their hibachi is flavorful and meat is tender. You get the same great flavor of a typical hibachi without having the awkwardness of a chef cooking in front of you or wreaking of food smell on your clothes when you go home. This environment is like a typical restaurant where the food comes from a kitchen in the back so it completely eliminates that. Large groups beware - This restaurant is small so and we witnessed a table of 8-10 get separated since they could not seat them together. I'm sure a reservation ahead of time would have helped this situation. Food is really great quality though and we will definitely be back!

This most recent time, I tried the truffle mushroom, okonomiyaki tater tots, and Brussels sprouts. ALL of these were incredibly tasty. I also am not usually a fan of tater tots but boy, these ones were REALLY good! The Brussels sprouts leaves were also wonderfully flavored and had a lovely texture. The servers were also proactive checking in to see if we needed anything / if we had ordered, so I appreciated the excellent service as well. My friends all enjoyed their entrees and I loved mine as well (seared scallop with uni toast). They had to modify my entree since I'm allergic to eggs and they were kind ensuring they kept eggs off to the side (my husband wanted them) and leaving out the hollandaise sauce. Even without the sauce the toast was really delicious! I also like the decor - it's modern, clean, chic!

Poor training? Or poor motivation? Things that we liked: the little sushi hand rolls. The tuna was fresh, with nice flavoring, not too spicy. Just the right kick. I somewhat enjoyed the French toast cream brûlée. Soft gooey mochi French toast in a small thick chunk, with basically a dollop of flan. If you pace the creme, it lubes each bite. No syrup needed. The short rib Benedict was weird. Same mochi toast but soaked in egg didn't have the same crunchiness. Eggs were filling as only a chicken egg can do. Meat, whatever. The food wasn't terrible, wasn't great either. Come back to try the brussel sprouts or the eggplant? Maybe. But only if service improves.
