Great sushi spot! I can see why people are saying that this is a staple in Newark. I like how they have a variety of offerings like uni, scallops, along with their signature rolls and simple sashimi. Sushi here is fresh and sliced well. It was just delicious bite after bite! Not too fishy and not too firm. Their sashimi here is just done right. Their price point is reasonable for its location. Staff here are very welcoming and accommodating! They are attentive and give good recommendations.

Food: 4.1 Service: 4.5 Very Efficient & patience Monthly Haircut for my wife means dinner with my FIL. With dad aging & slowly down, he's becoming more predictable with food, but we keep challenging him to order for himself and reading the menu. Even having him tell us what he will order, he forgot when it was time to order, but the waitress was very patience with him and guided him through the process of ordering his food. 3 bento boxes and one sushi burrito ordered. The food came out very quickly: soups for the bento boxes then bento boxes followed about 5 minutes later along with my sushi burrito (like I said efficient). Everyone enjoyed their food and my FIL ate more than usual which made me happy My wife had tonkatsu leftovers which I gladly ate for a snack the next day. The sushi burrito was excellent and giant hand roll is the best way to describe it. BTW: we've eaten here for more than a decade and food has always been tasty and consistent.

Solid sushi spot - a staple here in Newark. I recommend their bento boxes for a good bang for your buck OR the O'burrito which is basically a sushiritto!! They are pretty known for that here. A very consistent place, again, a staple for us tri-city natives. Nice service overall and a very homey vibe if you were to eat in. They are very known to the locals here and is *the* Newark sushi spot :)) Also complimentary edemame and green tea ice cream!!!

Delicious and Affordable Japanese Bento and Sushi in Newark California. This business is along baskin robbins and Mandro/Snow Ball store. It caters to dozen of types of sushi wether raw, baked or deep fried. We loved their lunch or dinner bento as it is super tasty, affordable and fresh.. Service is excellent as the staff is so friendly and accomodating.. area is clean, simple and organized. this is a family and kid friendly restaurant.

Yay trying a new sushi restaurant in the area because we can't just go to Mioki all the time right? lol Got to try the local spots when we can. O' Sushi has been here for years. The oldest review here is 2014. Why I haven't tried it growing up in the area? I don't know. The restaurant is in the same plaza as Safeway and its close to MandRo Teahouse. It's a busy plaza but they have plenty of parking. It is also conveniently located by a freeway. We walk in and are immediately greeted by staff. I was having a bad day when I went but that changed quick. The staff is so friendly. They let me have my drink from outside (because I came here right after Truewin) and I appreciate it. We ordered the oyakodon and sushi bento. I got used to seeing oyakodon as chicken and egg over rice that this confused me a bit but I knew the name translates to "Mother and child" so it made sense. I honestly liked it. Great amount of food for me who wasn't insanely hungry after boba and a souffle cake (I know, dessert before dinner how dare I). The sushi bento was also good. Great amount of food for the price. Overall I liked this place. I think it stood out more because the staff are so kind. And sometimes that little boost is what you need to get the customers to keep coming back. Highly recommend!

I've been a patron of O'Sushi for years, and I'm thrilled to report that their food quality has not wavered at all over the last decade that I've been going. The sushi rolls are fresh, delicious, and innovative, and the servers are extremely attentive. Sushi rolls are on par for the area in terms of price; $16 for more specialty rolls, $8-9 for classics (California, Philly, etc.). I love that they still have hand sanitizer pumps at each table (a pandemic practice that I wish they still instituted in restaurants across the Bay Area), and I observed the staff's dedication to cleanliness when they wiped down each table using an antibacterial solution. There's not one thing I didn't enjoy about O'Sushi, and I look forward to returning!

O'Sushi is one of our favorite sushi spots for years. The food is always fresh and delicious and the service is always exceptional. Every roll and plate has always been a hit for us. Thank you for treating our family so great with each visit.

The food was excellent and flavorful. Very generous portions of sashimi which I appreciate. The assortment of fish were so fresh! The server was friendly and did not rush us at all in ordering. It's a small place, decent inside. No need for grand decorations when the food speaks for itself. Definitely satisfied our sushi cravings

I always come this place, but today I was definitely not happy. This was in my california roll and it dug into my mouth.

Chicken Katsu, Vegetable Tempura, Kiss of Fire

Small Japanese restaurant with good service and nice decorations. We got the chicken katsu dinner, Kiss of Fire gourmet roll, and veggie tempura. Chicken katsu was crunchy but might have needed more seasoning, gourmet roll was pretty good - jalapeno gave a slight kick, veggie tempura could have been better. Nothing really wrong with the overall experience, pretty decent food for decent price, good to come back to if you don't know what to eat for a night.

    Super Lion King

I'm a regular here, and my go to order is the Super Lion King. It's amazing!! The house salad is also one of my favorites. I've compared multiple lion kings from other sushi spots but none compares to this. The service here is great, always checking in and fast.

    Fresh Oysters

Sushi is absolutely delicious! And the service from the chefs to the waitresses is always great.

This is my 2nd time here. the first time I got the sashimi boat and it was okay. I think it's more worth to get the rolls because they are good! This time around, we ordered the #1 roll, rock n' roll, & smile lemon. The rock n' roll was my favorite!! #1 roll was good as well. Smile Lemon was fine - I think the white sauce they use is a bit different. They also have complimentary green tea ice cream for dessert as well. Service was fine & parking lot is a bit small. I would come back here to try more sushi rolls! Thank you, O' sushi!

    Do they do reservations?

Last time I checked no but they are really nice so maybe try giving them a call

    New owners it appears?

Original owners moved to Texas as they opened up a new restaurant, and sold the business to a new family. Currently, still the same menu. Eaten here a few times since change of ownership. I think they are still trying to get their bearings, as…

They have a parking lot available and parking is available along the side streets. The inside of the restaurant is decently sized and we were seated promptly on a weekday for dinner. You use the QR code at the table to order and pay, but you can also request a physical menu if that's easier. I opted for their spicy miso butter corn ramen and the chicken karaage. I forgot what my husband got, but it was another spicy ramen. Both tasted good, I'll say that right off the bat. My husband opted for level 2 spicy and he felt like he could push it higher next time. Overall, Hinodeya is a good place for solid ramen. The chicken karaage was okay, although it would've been nice to have a spicy mayo sauce or something to accompany it. The matcha salt was different, but didn't really add much to the dish for us.

Their dinner is now only prix fixe. My first impression was how elegant and modern the decor was. I made a reservation and was seated right away. Their brunch menu ranged from Japanese interpretations of American classics like chicken & waffle and eggs Benedict, to sushi dishes, to rice dishes, to sandos (sandwiches). We ordered a lot so that we could try a bit of everything. Our food came out quickly, and each plate was beautifully presented. While every dish was very tasty, none of the dishes really blew me away. Our server was efficient but didn't smile once. It's not that big a deal, but a little smile is very welcoming and makes a difference. However, Jose, who was preparing the food, brought a few of our dishes out and each time he gave us a huge smile. What we ordered: + Short rib rice teishoku set - Elegantly presented, this was our favorite. The short rib literally melts in your mouth. The soup had a deep fried tofu pocket floating on top. The salad was above average, and even the rice seemed special. + Chicken croffle toast - this was very good and much bigger than I expected. There was probably about 4-5 tender chicken thighs in a crunchy coating. It had the same flavor as karage. The croffle (croisant waffle) was ok, but not as good as waffle imo. + Chutoro (medium fat) tuna nigiri - a perfect bite. When I looked under the tuna, I only saw about a 1/2 a pinky size of rice, but that turned out to be the perfect ratio. + Mochi waffle - you get your choice of matcha or ube flavor. I chose matcha. This was very good, but didn't get a whole lot of matcha flavor. + Macaroni salad - the weakest dish. It just tasted like your typical macaroni salad. Overall, it's about 4.5 stars. The food, while very good, didn't blow me away as I would expect from an upscale place. However, the entire experience, atmosphere, and quick service bumped it up to 5 stars.

They had the shortest line out of all the places I went to. Mioki is a small restaurant in a little plaza. Very limited seating and the waiting area is small. There were families ahead of me therefore I put my name on the list and waited till I was seated. Once I got seated I ordered the salmon teriyaki dinner, a salmon skin roll, and hot tea. They did throw in a green bean tempura appetizer and a slice of pineapple for dessert which was on the house. Both were good. Moving onto the food. The salmon skin roll was great. Just the right amount of salmon skin and rice. The salmon dinner was good, flavorful and tasty, which came with two big pieces of fish and rice. It also came on a hot sizzling plate when served. The only downside that I would say is the salmon to rice ratio didn't make sense to me. The cup of rice was an extremely small portion for the salmon that was served. Anyhow, Will definitely go back to this place. The only two reasons why I am docking a star was cause of the rice ratio for the salmon dinner and also the waiting time. When I got there the sushi bar had two people there. After waiting for 25 minutes for only 1 person and to get sat at the sushi bar did not make sense to me.
