    3 Item bento
    Nitesh D.

My wife has been craving sushi and our toddler has been eager to try it so we decided to come for an early dinner one day. We walked in and we were welcomed quickly to a booth. The staff were very kind of helpful. I'm not the biggest sushi fan but Joe's Special may just be my new favorite roll. The bento box was a lot of food and my wife and daughter loved the platter. O'Sushi is a very welcoming and quiet place to get some high-quality sushi. To top off a great dining experience, our waitress brought us some mochi ice cream on the house. The sweet treat was the perfect ending to our meal.

I remember coming back here over 7 years ago and not loving it, but decided to come back again and it's honestly pretty good! My favorite was the tuna tower which was a delicious combination of fish, rice, sauce, and the avocado was the cherry on top! Also tried the crazy horse and the Oh My God roll, both of which were tasty but not that melt in your melt fresh. I felt the same about the spicy donburi. Very sauce heavy! The service was so quick and fast! Looks family owned and overall no complaints with the service. Place itself i resembles a classic casual neighborhood restaurant. Good option and willing to come back!

Great sushi spot! I can see why people are saying that this is a staple in Newark. I like how they have a variety of offerings like uni, scallops, along with their signature rolls and simple sashimi. Sushi here is fresh and sliced well. It was just delicious bite after bite! Not too fishy and not too firm. Their sashimi here is just done right. Their price point is reasonable for its location. Staff here are very welcoming and accommodating! They are attentive and give good recommendations.

Food: 4.1 Service: 4.5 Very Efficient & patience Monthly Haircut for my wife means dinner with my FIL. With dad aging & slowly down, he's becoming more predictable with food, but we keep challenging him to order for himself and reading the menu. Even having him tell us what he will order, he forgot when it was time to order, but the waitress was very patience with him and guided him through the process of ordering his food. 3 bento boxes and one sushi burrito ordered. The food came out very quickly: soups for the bento boxes then bento boxes followed about 5 minutes later along with my sushi burrito (like I said efficient). Everyone enjoyed their food and my FIL ate more than usual which made me happy My wife had tonkatsu leftovers which I gladly ate for a snack the next day. The sushi burrito was excellent and giant hand roll is the best way to describe it. BTW: we've eaten here for more than a decade and food has always been tasty and consistent.

Solid sushi spot - a staple here in Newark. I recommend their bento boxes for a good bang for your buck OR the O'burrito which is basically a sushiritto!! They are pretty known for that here. A very consistent place, again, a staple for us tri-city natives. Nice service overall and a very homey vibe if you were to eat in. They are very known to the locals here and is *the* Newark sushi spot :)) Also complimentary edemame and green tea ice cream!!!

Delicious and Affordable Japanese Bento and Sushi in Newark California. This business is along baskin robbins and Mandro/Snow Ball store. It caters to dozen of types of sushi wether raw, baked or deep fried. We loved their lunch or dinner bento as it is super tasty, affordable and fresh.. Service is excellent as the staff is so friendly and accomodating.. area is clean, simple and organized. this is a family and kid friendly restaurant.

Yay trying a new sushi restaurant in the area because we can't just go to Mioki all the time right? lol Got to try the local spots when we can. O' Sushi has been here for years. The oldest review here is 2014. Why I haven't tried it growing up in the area? I don't know. The restaurant is in the same plaza as Safeway and its close to MandRo Teahouse. It's a busy plaza but they have plenty of parking. It is also conveniently located by a freeway. We walk in and are immediately greeted by staff. I was having a bad day when I went but that changed quick. The staff is so friendly. They let me have my drink from outside (because I came here right after Truewin) and I appreciate it. We ordered the oyakodon and sushi bento. I got used to seeing oyakodon as chicken and egg over rice that this confused me a bit but I knew the name translates to "Mother and child" so it made sense. I honestly liked it. Great amount of food for me who wasn't insanely hungry after boba and a souffle cake (I know, dessert before dinner how dare I). The sushi bento was also good. Great amount of food for the price. Overall I liked this place. I think it stood out more because the staff are so kind. And sometimes that little boost is what you need to get the customers to keep coming back. Highly recommend!

I've been a patron of O'Sushi for years, and I'm thrilled to report that their food quality has not wavered at all over the last decade that I've been going. The sushi rolls are fresh, delicious, and innovative, and the servers are extremely attentive. Sushi rolls are on par for the area in terms of price; $16 for more specialty rolls, $8-9 for classics (California, Philly, etc.). I love that they still have hand sanitizer pumps at each table (a pandemic practice that I wish they still instituted in restaurants across the Bay Area), and I observed the staff's dedication to cleanliness when they wiped down each table using an antibacterial solution. There's not one thing I didn't enjoy about O'Sushi, and I look forward to returning!

O'Sushi is one of our favorite sushi spots for years. The food is always fresh and delicious and the service is always exceptional. Every roll and plate has always been a hit for us. Thank you for treating our family so great with each visit.

The food was excellent and flavorful. Very generous portions of sashimi which I appreciate. The assortment of fish were so fresh! The server was friendly and did not rush us at all in ordering. It's a small place, decent inside. No need for grand decorations when the food speaks for itself. Definitely satisfied our sushi cravings

I always come this place, but today I was definitely not happy. This was in my california roll and it dug into my mouth.

Chicken Katsu, Vegetable Tempura, Kiss of Fire

Small Japanese restaurant with good service and nice decorations. We got the chicken katsu dinner, Kiss of Fire gourmet roll, and veggie tempura. Chicken katsu was crunchy but might have needed more seasoning, gourmet roll was pretty good - jalapeno gave a slight kick, veggie tempura could have been better. Nothing really wrong with the overall experience, pretty decent food for decent price, good to come back to if you don't know what to eat for a night.

I was a bit bummed because we came here specifically for the sushi boat, but it wasn't available. However, I'm still giving this 5 stars because it was decently priced and the food was good. We ordered: 1. Tuna Tower Roll ($16.95) generous portion and perfect blend of sauces & flavors. 2. Lion King ($14.45) not their best roll...there's definitely other places with better Lion King. 3. Super Lion King ($15.45) we couldn't really tell the difference between this and the regular Lion King 4. Dragon Roll ($14.95) this was decent 5. Atlantic Roll ($13.45) Great - katsu style exterior. I'd recommend since it's unique. 6. Loki Roll ($14.95) Also good - deep fried unagi on top of snow crab. 7. M&M Roll ($15.45) This was a generous portion and the spice was great. 8. Smile Lemon ($17.95) this was on their special rolls menu. I thought this was great, but the others didn't really like it. 9. Hot Sake ($9.95 - large) This was really smooth and shockingly good for house sake. 10. Sake sashimi ($25.45 - regular) This was actually fresh! Parking: Parking lot Service: Great Overall, I'd say this was worth the price. It was just unfortunate they didn't have the sushi boat presentation even though we ordered a lot of rolls.

    Do they do reservations?

Last time I checked no but they are really nice so maybe try giving them a call

    New owners it appears?

We were led to our seats and once we were given the menu, we started studying it meticulously. I got the HINODEYA "House" Ramen, my wife got the Beef Bowl "Gyudon", and our friend got a ramen with katsu in it. They asked me if I wanted my ramen mild, medium or hot in spiciness. I went with the medium option. I enjoyed my ramen. The broth was well made but I didn't notice much difference between the wheat noodle they've used versus normal noodle used in other shops. The portion was not big for its price and I was about 80% full from the bowl. When I tasted a bite of my wife's beef bowl, boy was I disappointed. They added way too much sauce and honestly I can't say this dish is good. The beef wasn't cut in the traditional way in how a gyudon should be and it turned out a little bit thicker which is a little weird for me. I would compared it to a Yoshinoya and the irony is that I actually like the beef bowl from Yoshinoya better at half the price? lol. Our friend shared a little bit of her katsu with us and we thought it was way too dry. Perhaps it's been sitting at the heat lamp for way too long... Overall, what I feel about Hinodeya is that they've definitely have some unique ideas in their dishes but the execution and consistency still needs to be worked on. I noticed that there were 4 different spicy level and I was a little curious as to what they were. It wasn't until I asked the waiter that they explained them to us. I was a little puzzled because this seems to be what they wanted to push but we just weren't told to us in our visit until way later... It's a 50/50 whether I'll come back or not. I think there are definitely improvements for a good ramen spot that people would crowd upon in the bay area for sure.
