Got the original short rib koja with an added egg for dinner this past Friday. This is easily the best thing on their menu IMO, and my go-to dish at this chain. It was made just right. Looked exactly like the pic on the menu, with layers of the good stuff. The rice bun slightly crispy on the outside, the kalbi meat tender and flavorful, all of the other ingredients in perfect proportions to elevate taste while holding together well. It was fast and easy to order on the self-order kiosks, no interaction with staff needed. And I got a text when it was ready, which took less than ten minutes. The place was clean, modern, and inviting. I was able to listen to live music in the plaza while dining in the restaurant's outdoor patio. TL;DR -- I am really glad I got the short rib bowl, over the Koja. My friend got the "Koja" and he liked everything except for the fact that the rice was ultra ultra cripsy and then soft and chewy in the middle. I mean, that's the point but definitely not for me! I got the Short rib bowl and I was surpised by how much you get in the serving size (even togo). For maybe close to $11-13 I got tender, flavorful korean-marinated short ribs off the bone (tasted straight off the grill) with a nice bed of rice and greens + kimchi. Solid! We ordered on the electronic kiosks at the front and after a quick (what felt like) 5 minutes, the food was ready (to-go) on the side counter. They make you put a phone number down, so that they can text you updates on the order. Otherwise, we could've eaten there. Great atmosphere with plentiful seating and air conditioning. It's been a few years since my last visit to this location & the experience is just as good as I remembered. It's located across from Sleep Number and near the movie theater. I highly recommend this spot if you're looking for well marinated meat & fresh food. Think of it like Korean bbq + Japanese street food. My bf and I wanted a quick bite to eat before the movies so we ended up here :) I got the beef bowl with an egg added and my bf got the chicken bowl with 2 eggs lol. Pretty delicious! I got so full. The beef was marinated well and tbh the crab salad is so good here. I think the portions are more than enough! Came here to give this spot another shot and it still wasn't was good as the first time. The lettuce in the bowls was soggy and didn't seem fresh. The meat wasn't as lean either. Everytime I go to Koja Kitchen, it's bc I'm craving some Kamikaze fries, or the pictures of it pull me in. Wasn't expecting quite as much as there was so it was hard to choose, but I went with some spam musubi, a braised, pork taco and a braised pork bowl. Light bite dinner and lunch tomorrow. Huge fan of the spam comes with making an avocado, which was a nice surprise. I didn't read the details of the menu so it felt extra fancy. Braised pork taco was a little oily and I wish there was just a smidge more spice to it had some bites with flavor and some kind of lacking and the pork bowl was a nice size and comes with wider brown rice and the kimchi mixture. I put a couple dabs of hot sauce on it and took a few bites and for me that made it. It was good by itself too. I just needed a kick of spice tonight. I got distracted at the Sleep Number store across the street from them so by the time I went in for my order it was ready to go at their online order pick up location. I ordered two appetizers the Kamikaze Fries & Spam Musubi for myself. The Kamikaze Fries were as delicious as they looked in the pictures. So when I asked my mom what she wanted to eat, she said anything...ugh which just means, get something not spicy. If you're not into the rice patty, you can also get a normal bun. Also if you're not super hungry, you can get it taco style. They also have a few other smaller items like fries, musubis and chicken wings. This time around, the rice was kind of mushy which is a bummer, but hey it's okay. I typically get the braised pork because it's with coconut milk....drool. I had my mom try the short rib and the braised pork and she did like the braised pork more. The kim chi that comes with the bowls is more pickled tasting than spicy so it's not super spicy. From my mom who cannot handle her spicy food. This was something she could handle. You get a choice of white or brown rice, a green salad, small amount of kimchi, and meat of your choice. It's a well balanced meal, and the portions are quite large as well.
