    Veggie Crispy Roll
    Ami J.

My hubby and I finally got a date night in on Friday and ended up at Kiya Sushi in Fremont. Well worth the wait! As a vegetarian, I always walk into sushi spots mentally bracing for slim pickings. But Kiya actually delivered. The veggie options felt intentional and not a substitution tacked onto the menu. Everything was fresh and well put together, and you could tell the kitchen has standards for what goes out. I went with the Veggie Crispy Roll (subbed soy paper) and the Mango Secret as-is. Both were delish and would recommend if you're a veggie lover! A little spotlight for their garlic edamame! The spice, the garlic - it was so well flavored/balanced that I found myself using the regular edamame and dipping it into the leftover garlic/spices. Haha One heads up on seating: if you're going on a weekend, grab a reservation. We walked in and waited about 20 min for two, which wasn't bad, but the spot is cozy. Lots of 2 and 4-top tables packed in pretty close together. Plan accordingly! Overall a great find and a solid date night spot. We'll be back.

I looked on Yelp for my husband's favorite food and found Kiya Sushi. When we showed up, parking was really tight with a lot of cars going in and out--the lot is way too small for the number of businesses there. Nevertheless, we stayed and were told it would be a 40-minute wait for a party of eight. They were really busy and had a lot of people waiting at the door, so they were short with us and barely spoke. Unfortunately, once we were seated, the service didn't get any better. We sat for at least 5-10 minutes with no one coming to our table, so we finally asked someone passing by if we could put our order in. She told us to wait and that she'd be right back. When she returned, she said it wasn't a good time to place the order because they were really busy... like, what??? We asked her to clarify two more times, and we heard her right--she wanted us to wait to order because the food would take too long since they were so busy. Not sure how waiting would help when they were still taking other tables' orders. We decided to go ahead and put our order in anyway and just wait. Since we were a party of eight, the food came out sporadically. Some of us got soups (for those who ordered full plates), and some sushi started coming out. We were starving--it was almost 8pm--so we started eating. Unfortunately, my kids were the last to get their food since they ordered chicken teriyaki plates. Once everything arrived, I have to say a lot of it was really good. We got: Angry Fish Sushi: 4/5 Mango Spider: 5/5 California Hand Roll: 4/5 Shrimp Tempura Roll: 5/5 49er Roll: 3/5 Teriyaki Chicken Plate: 4/5 Shrimp tempura: 10/10 best sauce we have ever tasted. Overall, we were really happy with the food once it came, but I wish the service had been way better. I understand being busy, but at that point, they should hire more people to help.

My sister had a doctor's appointment at the nearby Kaiser Medical Center and I wanted to try this place for lunch afterwards. Found a parking right in front which said reserved but the hostess said it was ok to park there. We walked in and it's a cozy place and ordered 2 salmon teriyaki lunch specials, which come with miso soup, a generous salad with delicious dressing, 2 gyozas light and crispy, 4 California rolls, and of course the tasty salmon. I also ordered a Salmon Skin handroll full of yummy crunchy salmon skin and to top off the meal, we were each given a delicious complimentary scoop of green tea ice cream! I will definitely come back to this place with the great service, tasty food and cozy ambience.

BEST sushi spot in the area. Located in a small shopping center, Kiya Sushi is easily accessible. It's always busy, so don't be surprised if you have to wait a bit before getting seated as it's not a huge space. Service is great, staff is attentive. Onto the sushi... SO fresh, great quality, and can't beat it for the price. I've been here often enough and never had a miss. I love the number 1 roll (cucumber wrapped) because it's a low carb option with amazing citrusy flavor. I've had a handful of their rolls and they're all incredible. Another item I always order is the Takoyaki. Personally, I like them pretty crispy on the outside and a decent amount of octopus inside. These hit that mark perfectly! Will always be my go to spot

TLDR : Great food, nice ambience and quick service Loved the place for the amazing Sushi rolls! A nice and wonderful ambiance with a cool spot to see your rolls getting prepared. The crunchy rolls were good and the fish was fresh. Loved the jalapeño bombs! Overall a great experience

Great service and good food! Throughout the meal, our server was very attentive and kind. She offered us edamame to start off the meal and green tea ice cream to close off our meal, all on the house. My fried and I got the dinner combos, with curry katsu and the saba shioyaki. Portion was good, but frankly the meal didn't particularly stand out. My favorite part of the meal was actually the salad, it was really fresh and the dressing was delicious. I'll be back to try the sushi to give a more accurate review :)

Found on DoorDash and everything was delicious!!! Not overpriced and very fair value. Can't wait to go in person and try the omakase! We got the Golden gate, titanic, Kiya and warriors roll. 10/10 for sure!

Finally I have found actual good quality sushi in the Bay Area. This place is a hidden gem. I'm originally from Seattle and spend almost a decade living in Vegas. Both foodie places with high quality seafood and sushi with a plethora of options. I've lived in the Bay Area for almost 5 years, and have been genuinely disappointed with the lack of sushi options and lackluster. There's one other sushi restaurant I found that is high quality, but it's all the way in San Mateo. This one is close to home and is our new go-to sushi spot! We came on a weekday evening. It was busy but we were sat right away as there was one table open. Ambiance is casual, it looks like a small family run business. Our services was attentive and the staff thanked us as we left. We loved every item we ordered on the menu, which doesn't happen too often. We ordered miso soup, chicken karaage, a Bento plate, and 4 different sushi rolls. I forgot the names, but the cucumber wrapped no-rice roll and the roll topped with black Masago, were my favorites! So happy this place exists,

Celebrated my mom's birthday here. Restaurant is small but was packed throughout the whole night. All the dishes were very reasonably priced and fresh tasting. - dream box #1: 5/5 I loved everything. Came with real wasabi and all so so fresh. They even asked if I want the ebi shrimp head to be made into a soup. - chicken karaage: 5/5 juicy chicken fried so crispy - lobster roll: 3.5/5 you really can't taste the lobster in here but still good - garlic edamame 2/5 more on the sour side and too spicy I wish I lived closure otherwise this would be a very frequent weekly dinner

Come early to avoid the wait! We come around 11:30 on Saturday and were able to get seated quickly. This is a small and popular place, so it does get filled up quickly. Service was fast. All the sushi and sashimi tasted fresh. Free edamame as appetizers. Hands down no complaint there. Price is very reasonable too. I'd come back again if I'm in the area.

Highly recommended by my youngest foodie child & she knows what's up. The volcano roll was delish. We also shared a dinner combo which was plenty of food for two ppl. We also received complimentary edamame before our orders came out and then offered free green tea ice cream afterwards. Best of all, each member of the service staff were very nice & hospitable. We'll be back!

Stumbled upon this spot while in the area and what an incredible find! It's now one of our go-to sushi restaurants. The atmosphere is warm and family-friendly, and I always see lots of families with young kids enjoying their meals here. My toddler absolutely loves it, which says a lot since he's quite the picky eater! We've been here many times, and the consistency is what truly stands out. The food is always fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Some of our favorites are the Salmon Shioyaki Set, Sashimi Salad, and the Mango Crunch Roll - each one perfectly prepared and delicious every time. Even when the restaurant is busy, the service is always on point; attentive, quick, and genuinely kind. Their fish and seafood selection is consistently top-quality, and I can honestly say I've never had a bad meal here. A reliable, family-friendly sushi spot that delivers every single time. Highly recommend!

It was an hour before lunch closing but the waitress brought me to a table without any hesitation. I thoroughly enjoyed everything I ordered! Oyster special: packed with umami! I'm glad I got to try this after eyeing it for so long. Every other time I tried ordering this, they were sold out :,) Sushi Regular: YUM. Perfect nigiri set, solid california rolls, and fresh wasabi! (Also cheaper when you order during lunch) Tempura: This was only for my hungry eyes tbh. No regrets. Safe to say I'd make this place one of my casual go-to spots when I don't mind splurging a little.

LENT 2026: GOOD FRIDAY LUNCH…read more The first time I ate at Toro Sushi Stone Grill & Bar was the last Saturday of February for my mom's birthday. We had a private room for the party. Out of food that was served I really enjoyed eating the sashimi, which was presented on a platter. I also liked grilled salmon. During Lent I wanted to come back to Toro for lunch. I thought about getting sashimi or grilled salmon when I came back. A couple days before coming to Toro for Good Friday lunch I looked at the menu online. Why pay for the dishes I ate before? One of the dishes that intrigued me was the baked unagi fried rice. However the baked salmon fried rice sounded enticing. Also one of the appetizers sounded interesting was the sashimi pizza. My plan was to order an appetizer and an entree for Good Friday lunch. On Friday when I got a table I looked at the menu. The lunch special listed unagi don. Then I started thinking to myself. Why do I have to eat only fish on Fridays during Lent? Vegetables are permitted during Lent Fridays. I looked at the salad menu and one item intrigued me was the avocado salad. Instead of getting a sashimi pizza for an appetizer I choose avocado salad. Knowing a salad would not be filling I ordered the crispy salmon skin roll. For entree I ordered the unagi don. I'll start with the crispy salmon. A lot of people don't like to eat crispy skin of a fish. I love it. The crispy salmon skin roll is a filling roll due to the sauce, which adds flavor to the rice. Instead of a roll I would like to see crispy skin salmon as an appetizer as it would be similar to a chicharron. Regarding the avocado salad I liked how avocado wasn't skimpy in portion. There's one thing I don't like in salad and that is water. I understand cleaning the lettuce to get rid of the dirt, but the lettuce better be dry instead of water dripping at the bottom on the bowl. I came here for the unagi don. I felt I made a right decision of ordering the unagi don instead of the baked unagi fried rice. With the steamed rice I could taste the eel whereas the fried rice would've overpowered the eel. The unagi don was a filling dish and I believe if I ordered a baked unagi fried rice I would have felt bloated. On this last Friday during Lent I enjoyed my lunch at Toro Sushi Stone Grill and Bar. I liked the sashimi that was served for my mom's birthday party than what I ordered during Good Friday. I can see myself coming here again. Maybe next time I try the stone grill items.

I've been here before but that's been years since I last visited. This is a surprising experience because I didn't expect a place to be almost empty on a Saturday afternoon. The place looks nice though. I really like the art and decorations here. Also, it's not humid here since they probably use AC. We wanted to order 9pc sashimi but didn't eat other items that come with it since we ordered our own lunch specials. It's just too many food. From our lunch specials, they not only come with rice and a side but other items like tofu. That's unusual for a Japanese restaurant to serve but it adds a unique touch. The food is actually good though, but I believe that the representations of our meals should improve a bit since they kinda look like something you can get from a grocery at the hot meals section. Also, the lunch plates are too big that we can't fit everything. Therefore, we decided to ask the staff to remove anything that comes with a sashimi.
