The natural sauce in the burrito had a mild kick to it (may be on the spicier side for some) and you can add more salsa for extra spice. Service was quick and it wasn't busy on a Saturday afternoon. Today, I came in to the Fremont Loc and everything was the same! In fact the Gentleman that took my order didnt stop smiling at every custoner he helped! I ask the same Gentleman and he didnt know if I was able to, he ask the other lady next to him (she was wearinh knee brace) and before he finish asking her if it was ok? Talk about a windfall...I have been getting fed Tacos Mi Reynita's postings on socials for over 3…read moreyears, but mostly for their pop-up tent in East Oakland. It is crazy popular and every time I saw their food (Estillo Tijuana), I'm always left salivating at my device's screen. Always wanted to check it out, but I think the 30+min lines kept me from adventuring in the cuts of East Oakland, which is not for the timid btw. Then on some random day on my lunch break, I see there is now a truck in my very own town, right off 880 in a huge parking lot in an older stripmall. Talk about falling right onto my lap. Lol This is just a big food/taco truck with a nice branding/wrap job. There's a few plastic tables off to the side and a huge menu banner tied next to the truck, so super easy to peruse. They take plastic which is a big draw for me as a couple of prompts and a tap, everything is good to go. There are pour containers with at least 3 different salsas, nothing is labeled so can't really justify yet. There are multiple bottles of each, but I've tried at least 3 thus far. All are fantastic, emulsified/creamy looking, and very layered in flavoring. These are chef quality salsas IMO, these aren't just afterthoughts. Great chile flavors with pureed tomato and tomatillo bases, one even seems to have something nutty in the smooth blend, so it gave off a light mole vibe. Crazy special. Vampiro ($5/4*) I chose cabeza as the filling and it did not disappoint. They braise the cabeza meat first until tender and somewhat shredded but still chunky. Then they brown it really well so it has a slight crispness which I loved. I like it this way much more than being just wet and tender. A vampiro are 2 small corn tortillas fried crisp in sandwich formation, melted cheese on 1 tortilla, filled with meat, cilantro and onions. I loved the meat bites especially dotted with a salsa of choice on each bite. The cheese was a nice add, but the corn tortillas were really hard and slightly chewy. Not sure if it was the fry or that they used handmade tortillas, but it wasn't shatteringly crisp. Just kinda tough to chew. Suadero Taco ($4/4.5*) Their suadero is cubed up brisket. Very tasty and meaty, tender but with a good chew. Also browned well in its own fat so it does have that authentic suadero flavor. And their warm hand made tortillas were perfect, good chew without falling apart and good corn flavor. Again with dots of any of their salsas, I could eat at least 6 of these in one sitting. I guess that's my only minor gripe, that for $4 it is only like a 3.5 biter of a taco. So if I were to order 6 for a substantial meal, then I'd be looking at an over $27 taco meal after tipping. Too 2020s for me. Lol Papas Locas ($12/4*) I've never had this from a Mexican stand but sounded good one evening. Basically a stuffed baked potato but with Mexican fillings similar to a taco. The potato they use is huge and indeed nice and soft in middle. You can pick any meat to stuff, then they'll smother the top with guac, cheese, sour cream, onions and cilantro. It is so smothered that you won't be able to see the huge potato underneath. I chose carne asada and it was like eating a chopped up version of steak n potato. Their carne asada has a strong grill flavor, like taste from a stint over charcoal. I ate this as 2 meals. Mulita ($13/3.5*) This is their hand made corn tortilla except a tad bigger. They use 2 and make a corn tortilla quesadilla with choice of meat. Very nice sized but not crisp at all, so it came off as super plain to me, just soft tortilla, melted white cheese and protein. I chose lengua and theirs is pretty good albeit plain. Nice chunks and perfectly tender yet with a toothsome bite. This really needs some salsa to help it out. Nice to try but will try other things before going back to this. Creamy Strawberry Agua Fresca ($4/5*) Not sure what made this creamy but this tasted like a thinned out strawberry shake, so you didn't have to pull on the straw so hard or get brain freeze. So creamy and gulpable and went so good with the food here. I still want to try this quesadilla here with mushrooms, chicharon and pickled jalapenos. Sounds so good but they were out the time I discovered it on the menu. I'll round up to a fiver just because there isn't a truck in this town quite as unique as this one. And they must have a following on socials as a good amount of peeps roll through here. I'll join their fan base.
