The food is always good. They have a vegetarian and a meat option specialty every month (aside from the obvious like pepperoni or cheese, etc). I haven't had a bad slice yet! The service is always on point and the feel of the restaurant is cool. Do know, one slice of pizza is very large. So trying to fit a full sized pizza in a car might be difficult unless you have a large car. If sharing with a group I'd ask them to double slice it because one slice is already so large. It's hard to find good late night eats in Charlotte these days, much less a good slice for a reasonable price. These slices are huge and tasty. A great way to soak up the booze at the end of a night of drinking around NoDa or just after working a late shift. Theres not much in the way of frills when you walk in the door, but that isn't what this place is about. They do sell beer and there are a couple of TV's to keep you entertained if you need something to do while you wait on them to reheat your slice. Slices are about $5-5.50 for a regular cheese, $6-6.50 for some toppings. My go-to is the mushroom garlic, but I'll occasionally get a sausage and peperoni if I want a little more grease in my stomach(in a good way). Post covid, there really just are not that many other options for something decent to eat till midnight on weekdays and till 2-3 on Thurs/Fri/Sat. I was so excited to try this place because I love pizza and Benny Pennello's didn't disappoint! I had the mushroom and garlic pizza! The huge slice of pizza came out fresh and hot! The crust was thin and buttery. It was crispy without being hard. The mushrooms were seasoned to perfection with garlic and other seasonings. I would get extra cheese next time that I pay Benny's a visit as I love cheese and love to have the nice "cheese pull". They were busy which in turn made our wait longer. It was worth it! We waited in and were able to walk up and order rather quickly since there was only one couple in front of us. Although it was mostly full, ordering and the actual wait time wasn't bad. I had heard Benny's pizza was decent so I recommended we try it when a coworker was looking to get some pizza nearby. Holy Moly ! This pizza was HUGE ! She got a pepperoni and it was $44. (You can also buy by the slice at $6.50) We weren't really impressed with the pizza's flavor. It was fairly greasy (and visited me later).... and the crust was not crispy. I've had a really hard time finding any pizza in North Carolina that I actually get excited about. Well, we ordered Benny Pennello's recently, and I already want it again! We got the whole pie just for the two of us, and it was so big that it lasted us 3 days. The box is so big that my partner held it up, and was almost entirely hidden by it! We got the kickin chicken, which was delicious! It was even delicious each time we heated it back up for leftovers. They told us it would be about 45 minutes for our pizza, but they got it to us sooner. We sat and had a beer while waiting. It's a cool atmosphere with some neat artwork on the walls. The best part is that the amount of pizza you get for the price is amazing. There are normal sized pies in Charlotte that are priced near the same, and this is probably twice the size. Amazing 28" pizzas! It's definitely a sight worth seeing. This is a great casual joint, perfect for a pizza fix, they have some fun options, build your own, and weekly specials. We had mostly vegetarians in our group so we got the special garlic mushroom and the veggie. Plus a couple of cheese slices for the kiddos. When we walked in I immediately got the dive bar feel and thought to myself that I know this pizza is going to be good. They're known for being one of few places that stay open late (close at 3am Fri-Sat, 2am Thurs, midnight Sun-Wed). Definitely tailors to a late night partygoers food need (or "1 more beer" because they sell beer), but you can enjoy it any day of the week from 11am forward! Service is quick, but I imagine once the bars close it gains a line. The interior is typical no frills pizza place. This is the perfect little NODA style joint with pizza's the size of a small car. Like so many reviews mentioned, Benny Pennello's is a place I've passed dozens, if not hundreds, of times. My nephew came to town and recommended we go grab pizza's at Benny's. We ordered a couple of large pie's (one pepperoni and one cheese) and they were big enough to feed a small village! The two pizza's set us back around $90. I thought the pizza's were good. I don't know that they were super spectacular but a good pizza nonetheless. If you are going there for a late night snack or what a place to chill after drinks at some of the local bars this is a great place for that provided they aren't too busy. Service is fast and almost robotic. The staff wasn't very life like and seemed to be in a trance most of the time. They weren't rude but didn't seem to really care much about being there.
