Hi so dinning during Covid is different. When you come into the parking lot there is Valet parking. I don't think there's an option to park your car on your own. They do it for you. It's a nice thing to do but during covid I definitely felt a little weird. My friend and I sat down and the day we went it wasn't too cold. The sitting was outside under a tent, and there were two giant heaters to make the area warm. I think during colder times the heater is a must. So I'm glad this establishment had it. We looked at the menu and wasn't too sure about what to get. I didn't really go into the inside of the restaurant so I can't give commentary on the appearance. Staff and fellow customers did follow covid guidelines, so that's a plus. The drinks were also made exceptionally well. A balance of sweet and alcohol. I didn't feel as if they skimped on the alcohol. They do give you a bucket, gloves and a bib as you're eating the crab. The restaurant also places hand sanitizer on every table and throughout the restaurant. The food is also prepared exceptionally well and I love every second of it. 1lb of crab is literally two giant snow crabs, and they toss in about 10 pieces of shrimp thats equivalent to a 1lb. The lobster was also amazing. Although the place does cost a hefty penny, I think its worth it especially if you love seafood and fine dining. read more

My family and I visited this restaurant for an early dinner. The dining area is up a long flight of stairs. I hope they have an elevator. The crowd there was fairly young, not a place for a quite meal. The food was ok. I ordered the lobster tails and shrimp in garlic butter sauce. I truly did not care for it. The meal is served in plastic bag with all your meal choices thrown into a melange. The garlic sauce was a bit on the clumpy and almost pasty like. It lacked flavor. My daughter had the old bay seasoning. Well old bay is old bay, what's left to say. I rather liked it, but then again I am a fan of old bay. The french fries had what tasted like parmesan cheese sprinkled and baked into it. I didn't care for the combo. The desert taste like they came out of a box and warmed before serving. Yuck! So, so disappointed unfortunately. I had to use my weekly lunch stipend from my company, so my husband and I decided to try Ben's since they have the best rating on Seamless for crab legs (and our usual spot, Voodoo Crab, wasn't on there). 2lbs of crab legs - garlic butter and special cajun sauce wings mac & cheese chicken tenders and fries EVERYTHING was bland except for the fries...I'm not kidding. Which was so surprising because everything "looked" well seasoned, but once you bit into it - both my husband and I looked at each other like, "where's the flavor??" Both sauces for the crab legs were so oily and flavorless that we took the legs out of the bag of sauce, tossed the bag in the trash, and ate the legs with our own garlic butter sauce that I whipped up in the kitchen real quick. The mac and cheese was awful - mushy and bland. We took one bite and tossed it, no joke. Please, please save yourself the trouble and just go to Voodoo Crab. They opened up a Ben's crab by me in Massapequa, I have never eaten there, but planned to try it out one day. So my girlfriend and I we're out by Long Beach, it was late and we were really hungry. At first we were going to eat at a Gastro Pub, but on our way we saw Ben's and decided to try it out. From the outside it looked big an nice. Their parking lot was full, so we thought they must have really good food. As we came in, you could hear loud music coming from upstairs. We were seated on the main floor, which was more quiet. I was not impressed with the decor, and the bathroom was not kept. So as we're looking at the menu it was not what I expected. I didn't like the wing choices, there were a lot of appetizer choices, but most were fried and battered. They also didn't have other options for the entrees except for the seafood boil. So I ordered lobster Mac n cheese and a lychee martini. My girlfriend ordered the lemon pepper wings and Cajun fries. We also ordered the crab cakes and hush puppies to share. Usually when you haven't eaten all day and you finally have that first meal, it'll taste three times better than usual. Well, this food was NOT the case. First, they gave us water which had some weird taste to it. We had to squeeze lemon in it to make it better. Then, my drink came which was ok. Didn't really taste the liquor and wasn't made the way I am use to. And I am a big Lychee Martini drinker. Now the food comes out pretty quick. I take a bite of my Mac n cheese. It was not firm, was a bit too soft as if it had been sitting and reheated. The flavor of the lobster was ok, but overall it had to be the worst Lobster Mac n cheese I ever tasted. I was so hungry, I didn't want to send it back and have to wait longer. Strike One!!! My girlfriend said her wings were flavorless inside. She really didn't care for the lemon pepper crust. She didn't like the Cajun fries either. I tasted it and agreed. Strike Two!!! Our crab cakes are served, she takes a taste of it and spits it out in her napkin. She told me to try it myself. Yuck!!!! Like a lot of seafood restaurants, the crabs/lobster main dish is prepared and served in a plastic bag. Ben's Crab is my go to seafood spot on Long Island. I used to travel into LIC or the city for good Cajun seafood, but not anymore. I initially stumbled upon this place a few years back while looking for a restaurant for my mother's birthday. I believe they had just opened and I wanted to give them a try. Since then I've been coming every couple of months. Everyone who I've introduced to this place has falling in love, and returned on their own. I usually get the snow crab leg and shrimp combo with Ben's sauce. It comes in a variety of spice levels, I like fire...but it's hot, so be careful. The music, the food, and the drinks are great. I always find myself singing and dancing along to the old school R&B. They're getting ready to open a second location. I hope it's just as good as the first. Second time coming here I have no real complaints service was excellent I had attentive servers who wasn't even my server tend to my table. The drinks are perfect if you like both a strong ass and tasty cocktail. I don't like to get dirty so I don't order boil bags but from what it looks like a lot of people come here for the bags. My favorite thing to order is the lobster mac and cheese. It's not prepared like most traditional lobster mac and cheese. it's loose but has the perfect amount of creaminess from the roux the cheese and the best part there is lots and lots of lobster claw and knuckle meat plus it's seasoned well. The owner is welcoming and the hostess was kind. I ordered the combo seafood boil of shrimp- head on , and crawfish with the Ben's Sauce (a combination of the 3 sauces in the menu.) for a drink I got the Mojito that had grenadine, mint, lychee, and rum. WHO CHILE! This drink packed a lunch and it was just what I needed! It had a sweetness and the lychee was a good additive to the flavor. Loved it. This seafood? Fire. It was so good, as I love garlic - let me tell you right now if you don't like garlic do not get Ben's House Sauce! There was flavor and kick (I got level 3 spicy) and just yummy goodness!! Got the twin lobsters and 1 pound shrimp this time around lobster was dry and had no flavor even with butter and shrimp portions were way off definitely not a pound. My boyfriend and I came here early afternoon to try out the food here and ever since the moment we walked in to the moment we left, we had a great experience. The staff is so kind and hospitable and the environment is calm. My boyfriend ordered Lobster Cajun Pasta, 6pc Raw Oysters, and New England Clam Chowder Soup. I ordered a Snow Crab w/ Shrimp (head off), but substituted the shrimp for mussels instead. When we got our food, our server (who's name I forgot to ask for) placed a bib on me and gave me some gloves for my crab. I loved that I was given gloves so that i don't have to worry about the smell of crab getting on my fingers. Plus, it made everything super easy to clean up once i was done eating. Yelp I've recently voluntarily spent my coins here twice in the past two weeks. I took a break for the winter but once I had the cravings for some decent seafood I made my way right on back. I always order the shrimp and snow crab legs with the Ben's Sauce (which is excellent). I've also had the crab cakes, lobster bisque, seasoned fries (free if you check in), and the mixed Hennessy drink (I forgot the name I tend to forget after 2). It's best to go on the weekend if you want to crack your crab legs in piece (peace...get it?....no? Okay) Anyways I went this Saturday night around 10 and whew chile it was crowded! I've never witnessed it so busy. Although it was crowded, the food was still tasty and the seafood bag was full and fresh (as usual). It's always a good idea to spend your money here. Their main attraction is their seafood boils. You can choose from having pounds of shrimp, crab legs, king crab and lobster. With these boils, you can add potatoes, noodles, corn on the cob, and a number of different add-ons. What makes Ben's delicious is the sauces! I don't know what they're putting in there but it's clearly addictive to always have me coming back. To know this place is good is to know no matter what time you go there or pass by during the days/nights, the parking lot is always full! Even on a weekday! Their service is consistent, I've never had a bad encounter with their waiters/waitresses and that's a plus. Every now and then I do try their appetizers, I recently tried their crab cakes.
