I was asked 3 different times by other viewers what was Ben's crab doing concerning the Covid Virus. Listen, since the Virus, I am very concern and even a little paranoid being conjested around groups of people I don't know. Since I just ate there today July 31st, this is the latest info I have observed. Management has signs all over the restaurant for customers to observe 6feet social distancing. Once you enter the front door they have hand sanitizers lined up for anyone to use before bring seated. Management has removed all stools at the bar area to avoid people congregating in a designated area. Since the stools are no longer there, they also allow easy flow for the customers coming in not to rub against people they don't know as they are being taken to their table. They have customers waiting outside until the crowd has lessen so the entrance area is not congested. They also have the bus boys clean/disinfect all tables before the next customer is seated. Their menu is laminated with plastic covering to make it easy to wipe down before handing them out to the next customer. The Uniondale location has outdoor seating to accommodate 20-25 people easily with Social distancing still being observed. All severs and bus boys wear mandatory face mask; that puts me at ease. I love eating at Ben's crab, but if they didn't put safety first for their customers, trust me I would not eat there no matter how good the food was. Tried this spot on lunch break. Great lunch menu prices, can't beat the $10 fried shrimp with Cajun Fries , delicious. Favorite place to get good quality fried shrimp. I've been to several Cajun crab restaurants and Ben's is still at the top. When they first opened in Oceanside Long Island it was a hidden gem. My best friend and I enjoyed the atmosphere-spacious and nice music that catered to our taste. The food and drinks were delish! Of course I couldn't stay away, came back several times. My husband and I came for our anniversary. We got free shots. The staff was very friendly. He fell in love with the place! My favorite sauces are the Ben's blend and garlic butter. Love the lychee martinis! Our kids love it too! To our surprise last year they opened a restaurant close to where we live (within walking distance ) So the rest is history... can't stop going and by the way, they are open for take out and dine-in with limited patrons. First time customer, figured i'd give this place a try since I absolutely love Cajun food and work down the block. Ordered over $30 worth, and when I received my order, It was cold, the fries were limp, and my gumbo was extremely watery. I called back politely and expressed my concerns which I was then told to come back for a refund. I then got there and then the very same man who told me to come for a refund over the phone then asked me what he was supposed to do with the food and that it would be a waste. I maintained my composure and told him I wouldn't know and he then gave me very dirty looks. After I informed the food was not for me, and I could have my boss come to speak to him, he finally relented and gave me a refund. I expect this place will be out of business shortly. read more

Read your bill carefully. Food & service were good but the bill was not. The bill came with tip included (for two diners) with suggestions at the bottom for tipping. Suggestions were based on the bill with the tip included so they were 20% of So if you follow this you're tipping twice & is calculated at a higher rate!!! Then when they processed the credit card the total still included the tip. Where the tip line was I wrote in "you already included it." Did not enjoy the seafood. Crawfish was not cooked properly, soft shell crab was salty and squishy (should be crunchy). My shrimp were cooked well and did taste good but the food comes in this bag full of wet seasoning and soaking wet vegetables. Expensive and not worth the money. read more

I ordered a pound of shrimp as a takeout with their Ben's special Cajun blend. You can order it with or without the head on...strange to me. The shrimp, along with 2 short pieces of corn on the cob and 2 baked potatoes, came in a bag filled with the sauce. Very messy. Especially when the shrimp still had it's shell on. They give you plastic gloves in the bag which you use to peel the shell from the shrimp full of sauce. The taste was just OK, but not worth the trouble. The New England clam chowder was good but majority of it was potatoes, the salmon filet was dry and small, the shrimp basket was bland even after they tried to add Cajun spice, the scallops dish had 3 pieces for $13 and was dry too. The front door was unlocked and the sign said it opened at noon. It was well into the afternoon when we went, but there was no one working at the restaurant! I've raved about Ben's Crab in Oceanside with its consistently delicious seafood. Today was my first time at Uniondale location for a Father's Day dinner. Although I was once again PLEASED with the service (yes, it was an organized take-out experience) and taste, I was DISAPPOINTED with the fact that the most (20 to be exact) of the mussels in the combo were not open. I even tried to steam them afterwards and the stubborn little things still wouldn't open.
