One Year Living at Benttree - Review We've been living at Benttree for about a year since we just moved here. The apartment is alright for the price we chose to stay. Location: The location is convenient for walking and driving. CVS, groceries, restaurants, and even Costco aren't too far. This can be both a pro and a con when it comes to saving money. Management Office: Shekerra was our leasing agent and gave us the tour. Since it was her first tour and she had just started working here, she was new, but she was nice and made an effort to answer all our questions. Adrea, the manager, has been nice every time I ran into her. Kayla was also helpful and answered my questions politely. Maintenance Team: Gristian has been the best maintenance experience I've had so far. Collin is very respectful and professional. He always calls before entering, even when entry is allowed through the resident portal. I haven't interacted much with other maintenance staff, but one individual (who has two dogs) could benefit from more customer service training. It would help him better understand how to interact with residents carefully, especially while living on-site. Common Areas: Not too bad overall, but a few things could be updated or fixed: Some stairs are unsafe to walk on, especially when wet or snowy, due to broken concrete pieces. Hallway ceiling paint has been peeling and hanging for over a year without touch-ups or repainting. Playgrounds need more mulch to improve safety for children. Pest Control: There is a pest control fee, but preventive inspections in the apartment or outside seem limited. I've seen Collin checking outdoor areas. Rats do appear occasionally, and I once saw a raccoon near the dumpster, which is understandable. Lots of mosquitoes, especially during summer around the playground. Office Staff: Staff could be a little friendlier, but everyone has their own approach--just my opinion. Trash: Pros: Multiple trash stations, trash picked up on schedule. Cons: Some stations have narrow driveways, and trash trucks can block the entire way while collecting trash, creating a minor hassle for cars leaving the property. I experienced this a few times early in the morning--having to drive another circle to exit isn't a big problem, but it's annoying without coffee. Some trash and cleanliness issues are due to residents, not management. Some people are inconsiderate, throwing trash outside or not picking up after their pets, even though poop bags are provided. This affects the grass and overall appearance, but it happens at many places. Package Room: The community uses LuxerOne lockers, which is nice. Like many properties, Amazon delivery can be an issue because some drivers don't use the lockers properly. This isn't the leasing office's fault, but they sometimes get blamed for it. read more

I have lived in bent tree now for 2 years. Since day 1 ANDREA has been absolutely phenomenal. She's so responsive and so hospitable. Every transaction I have had with bent tree facilitated by andrea was hands down one of the easiest experiences in any living situation I've ever had. The community is very friendly, clean, and plenty of places to play with your furry friends. One added plus is the DoorDash selections in this area are great! read more

I was a resident of Bent Tree for three years and couldn't have been happier to move out. If you choose to rent here--be warned--you will likely not get your deposit back, and there may be attempts to wrongly charge you for damages and cleaning upon move-out. Bent Tree initially claimed they did not have a deposit for us in our move-out statement. On top of that, they stated we owed over $500 in damages. After going back and forth with the move-out team--which was difficult to reach and disorganized in all aspects of communication--it was finally determined that they did have our deposit. Unfortunately, it took combing through three years' worth of bank statements and portal payments, gathering evidence, and demanding an audit to clear up the issue. I'd also like to note the irony of how quickly our issue was resolved once it became apparent that we were knowledgeable about Virginia's rules and regulations regarding security deposits. It's pretty amazing that our deposit was "found" after that conversation. Shortly after moving in, we dealt with rubber particles coming out of the pipes, which caused substantial staining of the bathtubs. The unit I moved into had pre-existing scuffs on the walls, which we had documented, yet we were still charged for those "damages." Make sure to document everything thoroughly upon move-in. Parking and the visitor parking system are a complete mess. On more than one occasion, I was unable to obtain a visitor pass because the office was empty for over two hours--during posted office hours. Regardless of whether your visitor has a pass visibly displayed in their vehicle, be prepared for it to be towed anyway. One of my guest had their car towed even with the pass clearly visible on the dashboard. I went to the office three separate times over two weeks to try to speak with Andrea and show her photo evidence, but she was never there. I also emailed her and never received a response. Management here is truly awful and unresponsive. Bent Tree is supposedly a smoke-free community, but be prepared to constantly smell marijuana and tobacco--because it is clearly not enforced. There have also been instances of an unhoused man sleeping in the gym at night. Trash piles up, and it's disgusting. Neighbors regularly leave smelly trash bags outside their apartment doors, which is against lease policy--but, of course, nothing was ever done about it. If you live in an upper-level unit, be extremely cautious of the stairs. They become very slick during inclement weather. Management continues to paint over the stairs, which makes them even more slippery. The package and mail system is a mess and poorly managed. Packages are often left outside the package room where anyone walking by can grab them. The only positive thing about this place is the maintenance team--they are responsive and quick to address issues in the apartment. Overall, I would strongly suggest renting elsewhere. read more

She had said that the request of visitors passes have exceeded. As much as I wanted to leave a positive review for Bent Tree, the way my move-out was handled was completely unacceptable and disappointing. After being a tenant for three years without any issues, I expected better treatment. Unfortunately, due to poor communication from Bent Tree and being forced to move out without proper notification, I was charged a significant portion of my security deposit, with Bent Tree acting as if they were doing me a favor. This experience has led me to decide that I would NEVER recommend Bent Tree or any of their affiliated properties, as they clearly do not value their tenants. My time there felt like a movie that was great until a terrible ending ruined it--this is the best way to describe Bent Tree, which is truly unfortunate. read more

You will have to carry huge boxes and walk with them to your unit in rainy weather and go to third floor with it They even sent my furniture that got delivered to me to the locker room and I had to drag boxes of furniture to my 3rd floor apartment Please don't make the same mistake I did and sign a lease with these guys I am in the process of taking them to court and finding out I'm not the only one taking legal action against them. During my time at Bent Tree the quality of life has gone down significantly. 1st - The parking situation currently is a disaster. All but a couple dozen spots are assigned parking. This parking might not be anywhere near your apartment and is a separate fee. The little visitor parking that exists is functionally non-existant since it's always full with residents cars. You will not be able to have anyone visit without risking their being towed. 2nd - The removal of several amenities to make room for additional parking. 3rd - A lack of enforcement of the non-smoking policies. These policies are not effectively enforced and people openly smoke on their balconies and parking lots. 4th - Their "newly renovated apartments" had many, many issues with the installation of doors, windows, and appliances incorrectly or sloppily. While maintenance did correct these issues they clearly went with a bottom of the barrel contractor for these renovations and did little to no follow up to make sure things were done properly. I have lived at this property for a while now and I was waiting to do a review to see if there was any truth to the other reviews. Overall, my experience has been pretty good. Coming from DC, this property is reasonably priced for the area and for the amenities/space you get. The grounds are pretty clean and the maintenance staff is pretty friendly and helpful. I live in a top floor unit so I don't have an issue with noise except for traffic and emergency vehicles going down 29. However, if I close my windows, it's fine and it's not often. If I had to name any cons it would be the package locker system and the trash. This isn't an issue with the property itself, but sometimes packages are delivered to the wrong residents or to the door rather than to the package room which is irritating (talking to you Amazon and Walmart delivery). As far as the trash goes, there are dumpsters around the property, but some residents do not seem to care and will put it anywhere, which could attract rodents. Once it has been reported, it's picked up by maintenance, but if you see a neighbor dumping trash in the wrong place, please report them! read more

Overall: not great, poorly managed, fire hazard There was recently a major fire here resulting in 13 units being uninhabitable and 1 death. The cause has not yet been determined/announced. Not all smoke detectors in the units were working, there are no sprinklers, and there is not a fire alarm to pull in every building. The management company has stated that they have no plans to update for fire safety. I no longer feel safe living here. Look into this before moving here! The community is in a convenient location in Centreville close to a lot of restaurants and not too far from the metro. The neighborhood is seemingly safe, quiet and always looks nice with good landscaping. Since they are doing renovations, most amenities have been closed (gym, pool, and business center). The new package lockers are very convenient though. Unfortunately valet trash pickup has been discontinued and the on site dumpsters are always overflowing. Also parking is hectic in the evening and for guests (they are quick to tow!). The apartments themselves are nice enough but nothing special. They do have a lot of different floor plan options. Unfortunately you can easily hear outside noises and they are not well insulated. A big red flag is that there are no sprinklers in the units! I've lived here for 4 years going on 5. On two different occasions we have had complete water damage to the apartment. With those two occasions we never received any type of financial assistance. Instead, they continue to increase rent. This morning at 5:30am I walked out to go to work and my car was gone. Got a new vehicle and sent in my information to get the parking pass, but the employee there never did it. This caused my car to get towed and now I have to go to the towing company with again no financial assistance. Needless to say we will not be resigning our lease come next year. read more

Parking is still nightmare. They have these "reserved spots" right in front of each building that you can pay for but no one pays for them so they're always open and when I'm circling the complex at night trying to find parking those are the only ones open but I can't park in them or I'll get towed. Just do yourself a favor and go elsewhere unless you want a headache. They're trying to re do the siding and paint the brick of all the building right now while we're still waiting for them to open the renovated gym and clubhouse and while we're waiting for them to repair the burned building.There was a multi unit fire over 4 months ago but I still have to drive by a black burned building surrounded by construction equipment when nothing has changed and doesn't like they've rebuilt any part of the building. They have fences taking up a bunch of parking near that building too which could be used because if you get home after 8 pm good luck finding parking. Last night I had to walk across the entire complex carrying my 2 year old who was asleep because I got home around 11 pm. I work late and I work 45 hours a week and am a mom so to spend 30-45 minutes looking for parking and then carry my sleeping child across the complex is ridiculous and management DOESNT care. My last Yelp review the "business owner" said someone reached out but surprise surprise, no one did. My lease was almost up and I was looking to transfer so I called the leasing office and spoke to a gentleman about what unit and he said he would get it approved by his boss and call me back. Well after a month of waiting I said forget it I don't want to pack anymore and no one called back. So I'm on the resident website and it says my upcoming auto payment was a few hundred more than usual so I'm like wtf, I walk to the leasing trailer and speak to someone and she was like yeah you're moving in the 18th of next month that why your rent went up. So apparently I was scheduled to move and no one told me?! The gentleman never called me back about transferring but put in the transfer.. I never signed any new lease or anything and no one spoke to me. The guy over heard me and was like "oh yeah that was me I knew I should've called you back." The woman said she would fix it and contact me. She contacted me a few days later and apologized it took a few days because hey had already LEASED MY APARTMENT TO SOMEONE ELSE. They leased the apartment I was living in to someone else without contacting me and having me sign transfer papers. I really feel bad for those people because they probably had to find something else and just go through a headache. Hopefully they went to another complex! I will he emailing Aimco everyday until they fix this parking issue because I should not have to waste 30 minutes and my gas just to park at my own home. Seriously if you are still reading this please just go to another complex unless you like wasting your time finding parking or getting hit with hidden fees and looking at construction equipment in front of every building. UPDATE: parking still SUCKS and no one wants to pay for reserved when they already charge us $15 per car.. the tennis court still doesn't have a net. The trash compactor and trash bins are ALWAYS full but if I leave my trash outside my door for ONE night the neighbors bitch. I'm sorry that I have a two year old and I'm on bed rest so I don't always get around to taking it in 10 minutes, but yet everyone uses their balcony as storage which they say isn't allowed and people leave bikes and scooters stored outside their door for weeks and they block the walk way. This complex is horrible so when you see why it's rated so low please take your money elsewhere even if it's a little more costly because no one in management gives a crap about residents. All they want is their money. They also sent notice about people not being allowed to hang things on their balcony but I see residents that have drapes and lights hanging around their balcony. I drove around 20-25 MINUTES looking for a parking spot in my own community THAT I PAY $15 dollars for EVERY MONTH. For a company that charges this much and doesn't have enough parking spaces to accommodate people getting home late is RIDICULOUS. I had to park in Little Rocky Run and walk 10 minutes just to get home.... Instead of building a stupid fcking dog park why don't you build more parking spaces? I saw at least 10 reserved parking spaces that were empty.... instead of up charging residents for premium parking spots why can't this cheap ass company provide more parking?! My building has the worst mice infestation I've *ever* seen. I've reported the issue 4 times over the last 6 weeks, but the problem is no better and management seems disinterested in solving the problem before I move out. You're done being treated like "family" as soon as you sign your lease. The leasing office is severely understaffed, they never answer their phones when you call, and when they do they hang up on you. My partner slid on a water heater cover and fell in when it was raining. We told management, they did nothing but ask if he was fine! What if it were a kid? Worst attitudes ever from leasing agents, as if your problems are your own fault. QUICK to bill you for leaving anything outside your front door. Take your money ANYWHERE else. This is their job, they don't care that it affects your livelihood. You pay for parking, but they will tow you no matter what! But once they tow you the leasing office cannot help you, even though you had your paid parking pass on the top right of your windshield. Sounds great right? Their package delivery system is a joke. You pay $50 annually for a locker system, and they don't even notify you when your package was delivered. You have to go into the LuxerOne app and talk to their customer service. Leasing office will tell you there's nothing they can do. I had my package stolen recently, the leasing office asked if I had called the police already (sounded like sarcasm). It was a $4 package, I don't need the police, I need the protection and surveillance I was promised when I bought a locker space. Truly counting down the days until I leave this disgusting establishment. The manager's name is Sonia, and she is far from a decent manager. The property manager's name is Andrea, and she's even worse. Need a maintenance request? By your third submission, they should be on the way. Maintenance men are no issue, in fact very thorough and quick, perhaps the nicest thing about this place. Leasing office is truly ran by grown women who act like high-schoolers. God forbid you're passionate and upset about your problem, they'll pretend they never received your voicemail. But once you go into the leasing office physically they act like that had never happened. AVOID this community like the plague. Its been 2 month since I moved in and my experience here has been horrible. I am getting hit with hidden fees like crazy. --You have to pay for their delivery service to the locker (one time fee) which they still deliver it in front of your door --The gym is being renovated but you have to pay for that service (not even prorated) even when you can't use it. --Electric service pay separately to Virginia Electric however... you get hit with the prorated service for the day you didn't set up an account of $50 one time service fee on top of that $5.25/month service fee for god knows what. Below is some of the charges from the statement (copied and pasted) --Vacant Service Fee 06/04/2019 - 06/11/2019 $50.00 --Service Fee Conservice is a service provider contracted to prepare monthly statements and provide conservation resources. $5.25 --Acct. Setup This is a one-time fee to setup your Conservice account. $10.00 --Energy Conservation Fee 06/04/2019 - 06/06/2019 $2.00 (not even sure what this is and this is monthly or in the future going to be higher) PLUS $15/month per car for parking (not enough parking spaces...good luck) $50 for locker delivery service (they still deliver to door) $14.33 for insurance (if you get it through Bent Tree) PLUS Water Base Charge Pest Control Sewer Sewer Base (different from Sewer charge) Trash Water (difference from water base charge) I am not saying all the charges are not reasonable however, the hidden fee and one time fees are ridiculous. I currently pay $1500 base rent $30 for 2 cars $14.33 for insurance = $1544.33+electric+all those other fees will run you about $1750 minus the one time fees for everything. BEWARE!!!! read more

I was a resident at Bent Tree for almost 6 years. The conditions there became increasingly worse over time. One of my biggest concerns was the handling of community trash collection. As large trash dumpsters and a huge compactor were near the front of my building I was forced to see (and smell) this mess every day. I did not want guests to visit because of how embarrassing it was. I'm sure it is a very unhealthy situation as well. The conditions of the common areas was a problem also. Whereas other apartment complexes have cleaning crews that walk the grounds regularly, keeping the grounds clean, this complex absolutely did not. I could go on, but you get the gist of it. I've been at Bent Tree for 3 years and here's my honest feedback: Pros: - Perfect location - close to 28, 29, 50, and 66 and many restaurants close by. It's also close to EC Lawerence Park which is a nice bonus. - apartments looks and feel large - open floor plan and hard wood floor - lots of storage, and I mean lots! That's something I'll miss. - dog friendly community - there's 2 local dog parks which have been upgraded. - Maintence team is always friendly and finish fast Cons: - They barely respond to emails and phone calls. We have had a lot of communication problems where we had to call multiple times and email multiple times. It's like I have to remind them to answer me and it will take weeks to find a resolution, or sometimes they won't answer at all. - This relates to the above, I have sent my dog paper work to them 3 times in person. My dog is a service dog and we should not be paying for her. We have emailed several times about this and came in several times and we are still getting charged for this. We have given up on this issue because we are exhausted with the lack of customer service here. We are no longer interested in continuing our living situation at Bent Tree. - Trash pick up was cancelled so now we need to walk our items to a trash bin far away which makes it very difficult with someone with a disability. Also, the trash at the front of Bent Tree has been overflowing and smells a lot! - Extra hidden fees. Since the change in company there's been a huge increase. Processing fees, parking fees, locker fees, trash fee, dog fee (which we are not supposed to pay due to service dog), etc. - Parking after 8pm is horrid.. if we do we have to walk 10 min to our apartment. If it's after midnight you need to park at the shopping center and walk across the street, but you still have to pay for parking. I loved living here in the past and was hoping to stay for a few more years but what it comes down to is the customer service is not equal to what we are paying for. My partner and I lived at Bent Tree Apts from Mar '22 to Jan '23. We terminated our lease early because it was that bad, so bad that we paid hefty termination fees to get out. Tip: get a lawyer to look at your lease before signing anything! Before our move-in day, we were unable to get in contact with the leasing agent that coordinated our move-in. We later found out that our leasing agent left the company and forgot to transfer our information to another agent. Our move-in day was also on a Sunday so the leasing office would have been closed. Good thing we kept bugging them about it--otherwise, I'm convinced we would have never gotten our passcodes while still getting charged rent. Within the first week, we noticed evidence of previous water damage all over the apartment unit (e.g raised flooring, cracked walls, water stains). There was also an ant infestation that came from outside our first floor unit; we had to seal the trim with tape to keep them out. Another issue is that there is a shortage of parking spaces. We paid for general parking spaces every month but were not guaranteed spots after 7pm. A few months later, our ceiling flooded with sewage water near the HVAC vents on two separate occasions. This explained where the signs of prior water damage throughout the apartment unit came from. Another big concern was that the maintenance team entered our unit for an unannounced VA state inspection. The maintenance team told us at the door that they knew some units did not receive a notice, but they still apparently needed to enter that day anyway. Luckily, we happened to be home at the time and were able to calm down our anxious dog. If this is a routine state inspection, shouldn't they have known about this for a while? Why couldn't the maintenance team have rescheduled the inspection when they realized that some units were not notified? We felt very strongly about this because we had a lot of concerns about our rescue dog being home alone with any strangers in the unit. When we brought this concern to the attention of the leasing office, they told us that all units were absolutely notified ahead of time. It took a lot of persistence on our end before they finally checked their e-mail distribution list and realized that some units indeed did not receive the notice. However, instead of apologizing for the gaslighting, they shoved this under the rug and promised not to do this again. Except it did. Needless to say, we lost all trust in Bent Tree after this experience. There was a drain in the hot water heater closet that collected the runoff from the HVAC of all the units above us and it constantly dripped with water. A sewage smell appeared every 2 weeks and it permeated throughout the entire apartment. There were random fees added to our invoice every month; however, we don't know where that money went to as they never did any landscaping in the Fall or Winter and only raked the leaves twice the entire season. The complex was hideous with all the leaves that would rot in the grass and encourage snakes to hide underneath (and yes, we did see snakes). Bent Tree's online portal is also a mess and you can't track what you're being charged for as the charges are not listed in any sequential order. As others have mentioned, we received an automated message that our batteries for our door lock were dying and scheduled a date and time to have replacements dropped off. They were never delivered and we had to buy our own out of fear of getting locked out of our apartment. We confirmed later with the leasing office that their AI assistant rarely works. Maybe they have it figured out by now, but I wouldn't get my hopes up on it. Overall, terrible experience that negatively impacted our quality of life. You could rent a better apartment at a similar price point that comes with fewer headaches. read more

I am so very tired of complaining about my home. I'm tired of walking ridiculously far when I get home because we work later then the "average American ". I'm tired of living in a construction zone for over a year. I'm tired of paying amenity fees with no amenities. No community center, no gym, no tennis courts, no parking ,etc. There are 60+ parking spots missing for almost a year now. Yes I understand why the ones if front of the building that caught fire are blocked. But then there are the ones with extra dumpsters, a "temporary" leasing center ( for a year!), fork lifts, pallets, random cones, single pieces of plywood! Then the many empty car ports that have had no takers in the year and a half I've lived here because they are ridiculously over priced. They gave the construction crew the tennis courts and yet they block off spots in front of them too. I'm tired of walking from Bella Pizza, across a major road, home in the cold worried I may get towed. I'm not alone in this. I walk with tired nurses, vets, service industry works, teachers... Why do we pay amenity fees? Why do we pay parking fees? These "updates" wont be done till after my lease ends. It's just so they can hike up the rent. None of this benefits me. The noise wakes me up early, traumatizes my pet. I have to leave the tv on loud when I leave to drown it out for him, which wastes electricity. My boyfriend lost a tire to a siding nail. How about 2 spots in that empty carport in front of my building for starters? It costs $15 per car for a parking sticker, but parking is not guaranteed. But, as they told us today, it's mandatory to pay this fee. Even if I never get to park in my own damn community I have to pay $30 to "park" ??! It's a really nice community and the apartments are really nice. Parking is tight but manageable, the overall community is a younger crowd but all of the residents just seem like hardworking professional friendly neighbors. So far no complaints. I've lived here for a little over 3 years, never really had any major concerns. Maintenance has always been reliable, rent is competitively priced, and the front office has always helped me out. The location is perfect, and the looks of the apartment are great! Not a luxury spot, but it's perfect for most people of my age range (21-26). I just transferred to a new unit, and HUGE shout out to Murch and Sonia. Excellent communication, and flawless transition for me. The only inconvenience I had was getting my giant couch out from my door. Thanks Bent Tree! read more

I love the staff here, they help me with all my needs and sometimes other things if I'm having communication problems. I don't know why some people are mad at this place but I moved here in 2017, at first was very dirty and embarrassing but now it's very nice. My building is painted which is very nice and clean. It's close to everything and I don't have to drive far for shopping. I just signed a renewal for another 14 months. My family enjoys it here and most importantly I finally enjoy somethings being addressed finally. read more

Did a tour of the property, liked what I saw, applied right on the spot. Unlike EVERY place I toured, to apply I had to pay a $500 deposit with a $50 application fee. No exaggeration, I was turned down within 2 mins! They instantly took those funds out of my acct. One week later and I still do not have my $500 back. Aimco management company conveniently does not have the info on their website on how to contact them. I just found a post where someone went thru the same thing last year. The parking at this apartment complex is atrocious. Im pretty sure they just hand out parking passes to people without thinking whether or not it exceeds the number of parking spots they have available bc why is it so hard to find parking at 11:00 pm on a Wednesday. Considering that people pay that much for parking, it should not take 45 min to find parking here past 10 pm. read more

Their leasing office is a joke! They will tell you just all the right things to get you to move in until you do and all of a sudden you're towed because they didn't do their job explaining or giving you the parking pass.. they dont tell you anything really, just take your money & if you need customer service? Be prepared for the shittiest of the attitudes of them all, as if it is so much of us to ask for them to do their jobs. Need something maintenance? you better triple check they did that right & make sure they are actually doing something because I've had to go thru multiple of the guys to make sure they do their job as well. Shout out to fahar, the only maintenance guy that actually cares. Parking? Almost none existing. They've said for months and months we've passed along your concerns lalalala nothing happens and never will under this management. (Sorry this is lengthy) I am a fairly new resident I moved in march 1 of last year(2022). My lease ends June 5 and fortunately, I will not be renting with this community after my lease ends. First bad experience I had, before I moved in. I obviously had a normal tour where I was asked if I had a dog or plan on getting a dog I said no because that was my honest answer but living on the East Coast by myself, I needed a companion, so I did end up getting a dog, a German Shepherd. when I went in to register him, that is when I noticed that they had restricted dog breeds (as when I did the tour she did NOT tell me that they had restricted breeds and to keep that in mind if I ever did want to get one) and I had already registered him as an emotional support animal which he is and let me tell you this process took close to two months to get approval, a very unnecessary amount of time. after I was working with the then manager, who has now been promoted, she told me that the female who took me on a tour told me they were restricted breads after I continuously told her that no one informed me of that, but they made me feel like I was wrong and they're always right. Thankfully after having to go has doctors appointments five times to fill out forms and get doctors notes. I was approved to have my dog with me. my second negative interaction was, yes the electronic door lock. I had gotten a notification on the app that the battery was running out and they did an auto service ticket. I had exchanged emails and text. We agreed on a Tuesday while I was going to be here for them to come and drop off batteries and that Tuesday came and they never stopped by then a few days later I was coming home after work, and my lock was making an ongoing humming noise. Come to find out the battery had died and I was unable to get in my apartment through the front door. I made another ticket in and this time they did come to drop off the batteries, while I was not home and when I did come home, I came to find that the front door was literally cracked open and the batteries look like they just opened the door, threw the batteries in the front walkway, and walked away. They were scattered in my front walkway. It's just overall very disappointing community. You pay fees for trash, but you have to walk your own trash to the dumpster so what is the fee for? Overall, I would not recommend this community at all. If you need a community in the area, lakeside apartments (yes different company too) are literally amazing. No trash fees, they give you trash bins on move in date, open parking with no fees, if you have a service dog or esa, mine got approved in three hours and all they needed was for me to fill out a form and the form I had used here at Bent tree and my pup got approved for my move in date. Would totally recommend lakeside apartments over Bent tree unfortunately. read more

I used to like living here. Everything has changed in the last year or so. Parking sucks and they still charge us monthly for it. There are at least half of the reserved spots not being used. They built a second dog park instead of fixing the basketball court which is across the street and barely anybody knows about. I've had issues with maintenance not showing up for days at a time. Our stairs and walking areas are almost always dirty. We have had communication problems as well. The phone is never answered and emails are responded to days later. Not the way someone wants to treated if they're paying rent to live somewhere. Old management was way better. read more

I've waited a while to leave my review because I wanted to offer the new management company time to settle into the groove of taking on a large complex. That said, while I can appreciate the effort they are making to better the community, the disturbance it's causing to residents is completely disrespectful. First let's start with the fact that it took them weeks, probably about 6, to resurface the parking lots, and we aren't talking about a complete grade and lay new asphalt, just a simple cosmetic surface fix and seal. This impeded parking for the entire duration. Then, they decided to take electricity and water to the existing dog park, great plan, terrible execution. Unfortunately for me, the trench digging for this was 20 feet from my apartment and they were here for hours, until past 7pm to be exact. I'm not talking about men and shovels, actual ground diggers and burrow drills.... until past dinner time. When I asked the leasing office how late they were going to be there they actually asked "why is it disturbing you?" .... pretty sure I didn't go up there to for the hell of it.... moving on, today, the last straw to my review standstill, I'm home and I hear a very loud thud from upstairs and I think to myself, "I hope someone didn't fall" mute the tv, hear some faint movement, go about my binge watching and I hear more loud thuds. At this point I'm thinking someone has fallen and they are struggling to get back up, go outside look up and find that my neighbors have moved out, the windows are wide open and what I am hearing is the contractors "fixing the apartment" at 5pm are carrying materials into the apartment and literally dropping them on the floor. I watched it happen. I've lived here for a few years, other than the occasional trip or fall I never hear my upstairs neighbors, but these people were dropping boxes of stuff and shaking the entire ceiling. I do what any annoyed person does, go to the leasing office. I'm always greeted with hostility for absolutely no reason, I prepared myself for that and was told "it will just be an inconvenience while they renovate" I'm sorry, what? That is what you have to say to a current paying resident? Rude, disrespectful and completely uncaring. If you want people to stay, I assume retention would be high on the priority list, but not for this new company. They don't care about anything. Don't bother moving in. And to any manager that actually takes the time to read this far, don't give me a bogus reply just to make it seem like you're engaging on reviews. There is nothing you can do about the way residents are treated by the staff at the office unless you fire them and bring in actual people with customer service skills. read more

This apartment sucks. All the spots out front are reserved. You have to walk a mile to get to your apartment. It takes forever to bring in groceries. And they run their tow truck night and day - god forbid if you're in a hurry and accidentally park in a reserved spot, you have to uber 15 miles away to pick it up. Would not recommend living here. Also, they make you pay on the last day of every month, or make you pay a $160 late fee. Most apartment complexes give you until the 5th day. But when you serve a lower societal class, you shouldn't expect them to have their check in on the last day of the month. Heaven forbid. This has gotten out of control. Also: -place infested with bugs/rats -trash was everyday pickup, now 2x/ week, which as residents are required to pay and don't pick up as often. Which makes it smell -changed the payment date from 5th of the next month, to last day of current month without explicitly telling you when you renewed lease -changed management companies 2x in a year -disorganization if staff, when I resigned lease, it literally took me 10x to get changed. read more

This community was really nice until the ownership changed. They immediately blocked off parking and then took 10% of the remaining parking and started charging for it. Very clever and very sh*tty thing to do. People complain to them constantly about it and they blame the previous owners instead of admitting they created the problem themselves to make more money off of residents. The apartments themselves are nice sized and the service personnel are nice as well. The people who work in the front office were all fired and replaced with complete jackasses. It would be smart to avoid Bent Tree Apartments at this point. read more

My apartment was decent. Everything in the apartment was extremely outdated and it had a faint smell of stale cigarettes. The gym is terrible. Weights are missing and the equipment is from the 90's and barely functional. The key fob system is not very safe as the gym door can be pulled open without the fob. The pool used to be great but since the new ownership there are fewer chairs and tons of goose poop on the deck. The trash compactor is disgusting. Constant overflow and trash strewn about. It stinks and should probably be deemed a health hazard. The parking use to be horrific but improved, however the visitor spots are always full with the same vehicles, which means they lie about towing. All in all, it is a decent place in a pinch, but after the hidden amenity fees, you're better off renting elsewhere with a great gym, preferred parking and safe location. read more

Stay away from this apartment complex! I was treated wonderfully when viewing the apartments, however after not being able to move forward I was informed that the refund process ($600) would begin and I would be refunded in the next 48-72 hours. It has been almost 2 weeks! After I realized earlier this week that my money had not been refunded, my friend checked our application status online, and it was still showing In review. After calling the office I was very rudely spoken to and the woman seemed baffled as to why I was online checking the status, of course because I had not received my money! She then informed me that the process had not even been started and that i would have to wait another 48-72 hours. Unacceptable!I have even contacted corporate and will make every effort to make this situation known, and I will also be contacting my bank to have every dime returned. Stay AWAY. read more
