Lived here for two years and the first couple months were fantastic. The amenities are decent and the outdoor grounds are beautiful however that's where the pros of this place end. Maintenance issues: since moving in our washer had flooded the entire bathroom 4 of 5 times and stopped working mid cycle so many times they had to give us a new one after about a year and a half of being there. The new dryer they gave us began smoking and almost caught fire on one occasion. Our roof in the bathroom leaked during a rainstorm which they told me was due to the vents on the outside not being properly maintained. We had a huge hole in our ceiling due to our upstairs neighbors which they couldn't fix for days due to the upstairs neighbors having an extra lock and refusing to open the door. We had so much water damage that caused mold all over the apartment because they just patched it up without actually fixing the moisture. UNSAFE- there was all types of sketchy people hanging around, people got their cars broken into, packages stolen, drug deals happening out in the open. I had to call the police several times on my neighbors for getting into domestic fights at all hours of the morning with a female screaming for help. After i brought this along with the other excessive noise concerns management did absolutely nothing. The "courtesy" officer is a joke and does not enforce noise at all. There was multiple times when many police were called to the complex one time an officer told me there was someone with a rifle threatening someone in their apartment For the price they're asking the apartments are ridiculously old and run down. There are MUCH better apartments for less money within ten minutes of here . Don't waste your money here read more

Having been with Lakeside for almost 10 years I can say that the community is fast growing and diverse. The quality of living here has been good until you get multiple families moving into a single unit. Suspicious characters that lurk around in the middle of the night, work vans that are parked but the owners don't live in the property,random people dumping worn out furniture in the wee hours of the morning, drinking session in the dog park. I can go on and on. Lakeside is a beautiful place however its getting sketchy. I love the maintenance team and the amount of work they put into the neighborhood. read more

Had to find an apartment during the pandemic from out of state which should have been a stressful process but Lakeside (extra shout out to Brandon) made it so easy! Move In: - The virtual tour was completely accurate to the apartment I received - Easy process to pick up keys and do a virtual check in with maintenance to learn about all the features of the apartment - Parking the trailer to unload my belongings was easy and had no issues Living there for 2 Years: - Clean, updated apartment, spacious balcony, bonus storage unit off balcony, nice appliances, loved the fireplace feature in my unit - Greatly appreciated the amenities like trash valet, updated fitness facilities, 2 pools, grills for cooking, package lockers, plenty of parking, etc. - All staff from maintenance to the office team were always friendly and helpful - Quiet neighborhood, never felt unsafe, and really loved going for walks around the property as it is beautifully maintained - I don't own a pet but it is a very pet friendly complex, there is a dog park - Located within walking distance to Giant & Starbucks in the Centrewood Plaza and Centre Ridge Marketplace, near a bus stop, easy access to I 66, etc. - Lakeside frequently went above and beyond to host various events from gardening, to kids crafts to happy hours to food trucks The Neutral: - Rent increases--sadly that is just the reality of living in the area, their prices are comparable to others in the area as I did a lot of research before choosing them Move Out: - So sad to have to leave, only leaving due to need another location otherwise I would have continued my time at Lakeside. I love Lakeside. The staff here at Lakeside is like family; i visit them every afternoon just to schmooze. We moved out of lakeside yesterday after a 2 year stay. A third child coming made the 2 bedroom layouts a little too tight for our family. The time we spent here tho, we will never forget. The walks around the lake, chasing our kids around the playground, neighborhood, and garden. Visiting my parents who still live here. The quiet mornings on the patio watching the sunrise. It's really a beautiful place. The rents are higher now but they are everywhere and it's still a great value and amazing location. They are remodeling the place now so that should address some of the age of the units. And the stars of the show are the support you get while you are living here. Ikram, William, Jennifer and Heather all stand out as exceptional team members. They genuinely care about you, and are all over any issue that might come up. We moved into our Lakeside apartment in May 2020 during Covid. Rent prices for a one bedroom were around $1400 (not including utilizes), which is decent for Centreville, VA. When we were asked to renew it lease that ends in May 2021, we were absolutely flabbergasted to see they were raising the rent for a one bedroom apartment that hasn't even been remodeled (and excluding utilities) to $1800-$2200+. This area and apartment complex is far from worth that amount of money. The apartment amenities were not even available for us to use more than half of the year that we have lived here due to the pandemic. In addition, I even got attacked by a large dog and had multiple puncture wounds right outside of my apartment and the complex didn't even follow up with me after the initial phone call. Do yourself a favor and live somewhere else. read more

Have only been here for a few days, but from the moment we met Brandon, did the in-person tour, to move-in it's been a great experience. Brandon and the leasing team were super friendly, attentative, and responded to our questions reasonably quick. We saw several units in person, including the one we ended up moving into. There were a few minor things that needed a quick repair (toilet slowly leaking & not flushing), to very, very minor loose knobs or latches, which maintenance responded to and showed up within 15-20 min. The actual ground and area is nice, and has a nice view. People and neighbors seemed very friendly, especially with their children at the playground. Will update again once the honeymoon phase is over and we start taking advantage of the amenities, but so far, the experience with Brandon and the team has been superb. read more

This rating is strictly based on a tour of the complex that I took with my son, who is heading out on his own for the first time. I have to say that Roslyn Kirton was an amazing tour guide! She spent a full two hours with us to show us everything about the complex and several apartment options. She answered every single question my son had and I believe her responses were honest and genuine. We toured multiple complexes today and no one else gave us the personalized attention that Roslyn did. She obviously truly cares. I do not have enough good things to say about this place! Our washer and dryer broke and flooded the bathroom in our apartment less than a week after we moved in and they pulled out all the stops fo make it right for us. It was beyond repair, BUT they ordered us a brand new, top-of-the-line washer and dryer and it was installed 3-4 days later. All of the employees were extremely cognizant && cautious, wearing face masks, face shields and gloves! By the time everything was done you couldn't tell that they were in here working! They cleaned up everything and were so gracious & apologetic that the old washer & dryer broke in the first place. 10/10 recommend && get to know the employees - they are the sweetest people!! read more

I was given a tour by Miss Roslyn Kirton of Lakeside apartments. First and foremost she is a superstar in that she shows you around in a fashion that allows you to see the enviroment. She took lots of time to not just show example apartments but to show all the ammenities that Lakeside had to offer. I did notice while walking around that she knows and communicates well for residents that already live in this location. I am sure others are good at this location but if you want a person that will spend lots of time answering your questions I would ask for Roslyn. read more

Going on 8 days of no contact with the office or maintenence team after informing them for a 4th time that there are squirrels in our ceilings. This has been an ongoing issue for months and has seriously impacted my sleep schedule. Waiting for the day the squirrels finally chew their way into my apartment so I can lawyer up. The upstairs neighbors woke us up at 6 AM on a Saturday and will not quiet down. It is like this from 7 AM to 10:30 PM seven days a week and they face 0 consequences. I have been living this apartment 3years and it was time to renew my 4th contract. I went to leasing center and had a 10 minute quick conversation with leasing director. She was very polite, professional and nice, but I wanted to talk to manager because I thought she would have more authorization for promotion or leasing fee. It was my FIRST time asking these kind of things. I understand it can be stressful taking care of client, so I tried to be smiley and nice. However, when I tried to have a conversation with manager, there were three rooms at the back side and she was sitting at the right side room, she showed me an extraordinary attitude. 1. She didn't say hello and kept her unhappy face 2. She looked down on me and didn't try to listen anything 3. Whatever I said, she just answered NO Surprisingly, what I heard from her for entire conversation was just the word "NO" I wonder if I were a caucasian, she would behave same way. I really like this place. They offer good housing options in a great community environment - there are constantly things they are working on to offer residents a chance to socialize and engage in activities. Right now they're building a gardening area where residents can reserve a plot and plant a mini garden. Recently they went through and put in new windows. Prior to that, fresh paint was being applied and the landscaping was getting extra attention. The clubhouse offers free drinks (iced tea, coffee, hot chocolate, hot tea) and internet access (two laptops or connect to their wifi). There are multiple pools to choose from and they're manned by lifeguards. Maybe it's just me, but I almost never see a pool that has a lifeguard on duty, much less two! There are also a couple of lakes that have fish, turtles, ducks, and geese. It's nice to go enjoy some wildlife and stroll around the property. Oh, and they have a dog park and sand volleyball court, as well as tennis courts and some trails. For each year's lease so far, we've received a "free" vacation offer (two nights hotel stay is covered and you get to go golfing or skiing). The catch is you have to book at least 35 days in advance, so we missed out on our first one because we were too close to the expiration date. Still, I can't wait to use this year's and see what it's like! read more

Living at lakeside was great, the maintenance staff was quick to come fix any problems, the grounds where quiet and well kept and even as covid shut down the amenities the management office came up with gift baskets and things to do over zoom to keep us satisfied and entertained. Moving out however has been a completely different story, now that I'm no longer a tenant getting in touch with someone regarding my security deposit has been like pulling teeth, I'm well over 90 days after moving out and I have yet to receive my check. Every time I call I get told that a check has been sent out, or that it was sent to the wrong address and they're going to send a new check. At this point I don't believe they're sending checks at all and they're just hoping I'll give up on the several hundred dollars. read more

The main office with the gym and main pool has been under construction for over a year yet we continue to pay for something that doesn't exist. The maintenance crew is awesome assuming the office writes down the issue that needs addressed. Every maintenance issue required at least 2 calls because the first call is ignored. If you're apartment shopping in 2017, you may want to look elsewhere. I'm in my second year here and never would've renewed my increasing lease had I know all the headaches to follow. The main clubhouse, which includes the larger pool and a fitness center, has been closed for a massive tear down and rebuild that began after Labor Day 2016. It's now mid June 2017 and they don't even appear close to being finished. The secondary, smaller pool is open. But good luck ever finding a chair, as this pool isn't meant to serve a community of this size. Also, the small pool is engulfed in trees and half the chairs are in the shade at any given time. When my lease renewed in Feb and my rate increased, I 100% would've moved put of here had I known how long this rebuild would dragged on. I'm effectively paying more for less. No gym and one pool that is beyond capacity. To be fair, my first year here was great. I imagine by 2018 it might be a fun place to live again, but 2017 at Lakeside SUCKS. read more

This is a fantastic apartment complex. It's beautiful with ponds, a walking trail, community garden, tennis courts, a basketball court, and swimming pools. It's quiet, with thick walls. The management is very responsive, taking care of maintenance issues right away. There is a garbage valet service which is awesome. I do think the rent is a little high, but it really is a great place to live. It is also near lots of great places to shop and eat. read more

I cannot in good faith recommend staying in this apartment complex. The grounds look really nice and they do a great job selling the community, but once you move in the above market rent is not worth the sub par service received. I had several maintenance issues when I first moved in. Ultimately these were resolved, however each issue took at least a week to resolve. Thats unacceptable when you don't have hot water in your apartment for a week. The apartment community is always upgrading which leads to lots of work being done. This would be a good thing except they do not provide notice when people will be entering your apartment or the patio behind your apartment. I happen to telework, which is the only reason I knew someone was trying to enter my apartment for a "filter swap". They never changed anything and I have no way of knowing if this was truly scheduled maintenance or a random person with a key to my apartment. Further, the workers stepped on all of the plants on my patio and crushed the pots. No letter, no knock on the door, nothing to indicate any kind of apology for destroying my property which is located in the apartment that I am paying above market rent for. The worst part is the unresponsive leasing office. I call multiple times a day, but nobody is ever there to pick up. This is unacceptable for the price I am paying. If I pay above market I expect above market service. I strongly recommend anyone considering living here to seek out alternatives. read more

If you're thinking of renting here - make sure you love it here so you never have to move out. Either that or just never use any of the appliances. I was all ready to give this apartment a 4-5 star review because living there was pretty painless. Neighbors were decent people for the most part and maintenance issues were resolved in a timely manner. I only really moved out because I wanted to be closer to work and have a little more space than what Lakeside has to offer. I lived at Lakeside for 5 years. Now that I've moved out, they want to charge me $800+ to replace the stove top and counter because of slight discoloration. The stove top works fine and is not broken in any way. Just discoloration. These are the photos they provided me. They provided the photos in black and white. After 5 years of cooking, wouldn't you consider this normal wear and tear? Let me reiterate that the stove works just fine and the counter is... well, a counter... and we never even put a hot object directly on the counter. edit: reply to the comment asking to call Heather My mother who was also on the lease finally met with Heather on the THIRD try of trying to see her. (Yes, she had to visit the office 3 times to try to get more information about this.) Unfortunately, we didn't know that Lakeside would consider normal wear and tear after 5 years to be "damaged" when the oven and counter are fully functional. If we had known, we wouldn't have used the appliance at all and covered all the surfaces. The stove top and counter weren't abused. There were no cracks or actual damage. Super excited to move out of this apartment complex next week! I would definitely recommend looking at other complexes before considering this place for the following reasons: 1. Poor structural integrity of the apartment buildings: While living here for about 1.5 years, we have noticed that there are vertical cracks throughout our apartment that have clearly been covered with paint. There are also cracks in the cement patio. The doors began to stick after awhile, and they resolved the issue by shaving down the frame. The window blinds have become warped and the one covering our large window almost fell on our dog. They resolved this by drilling through the center to reinforce the mounting; however, it is still warped, and still a safety concern. 2. Health: There is mold that grows on the ceiling. We are super clean people and this is just another sign of issues in the foundation. I understand that allergies tend to be worse in this general area. However, everyone in this house (including dogs) have had consistently worse allergies and sinuses since living here. Their version of air filters is to hang one that is not the proper size, which also develops mold. Also, be aware that when tenants move out, they paint over the counters and bath tubs instead of cleaning or replacing them. First, that's pretty disgusting. Second, I don't know how healthy it is to bathe yourself or your children in a tub with chipping paint. 3. Safety: This whole complex is sketchy. We were originally in a different apartment here at Lakeside. We requested to transfer after we discovered a phone covered in blood along with a huge trail of blood outside of our old apartment and up the stairs. The police were out investigating and we stayed in a hotel. The next week, we were transferred to a different apartment. Since being here, there has been a drug overdose in the parking lot. I have seen two individuals staring into my neighbor's apartment at 3 in the morning, and when they saw me they sprinted away. There are two men that I saw looking into my master room; and when they noticed I saw them, they waved at me. Honestly, safety alone is enough to not live here. When you bring anything up, they will ask if you contacted the onsite security, who I've literally never seen. 4. Amenities: Sure, the amenities look great at face value. However, the clubhouse was full of ants the one time I used it and it was disgusting. The housekeeper was there while I was trying to study, and she was blasting videos on her phone. I politely asked if she could turn it down, and the end result was me going back to my apartment because she continued. I will say the lakes are nice to walk around. This is about the only nice thing about this complex. Overall, Lakeside has been a terrible experience that I hope others don't have to go through because of the way this place looks at first. And just a heads up, you may see your first year of rent to be cheaper than other places around here, but be cautious because your rent will significantly increase if you choose to stay. I came here in good faith . I chose a unit on a SW corner with a beautiful view ,but that was the end. I was told they would paint ,they used an incorrect color to cover only holes so the walls were splotchy. I was told 2 months into being here they were pouring a cement area for picnic tables and the smokers were going to use it. all year I had to keep my doors closed and unable to use my balcony. It was just 15 feet from my balcony. 8-10 people do not work but sit and chain smoke all day and evening.then at night they smoke in a NON smoking apartment.There is a 50$ fine but the office never followed up or fined them . It is a joke.They have rules but they are more attached to their rent vs safety and giving a smoke free environment. I had smoke in my dishwasher , bathroom , balconies they never stop. The day I moved in the man below me said" Oh, only people that come here come to die"! The smokers put signs out facing my window saying Karma, they stole my night lights crushed my plants I water on my own as there is not water that reaches the area of where I live so I spent 300$ to make it beautiful and I carried water up and down stairs so it would live.I was not protected and Lakeside gets their 10 smokers and I will move on. too bad as I loved my home inspite of the age. read more

My boyfriend and I moved to this apartment complex in March 2016. We picked this one based on great yelp reviews as well as the warm feeling we got after speaking with the leasing office (Suzanne and others). We absolutely love this place-it's gorgeous, clean, friendly, and problem free! Every single issue we had (very minor-dryer, garbage disposal etc) has been resolved within 2-3 hours after I submitted the maintenance claim online! Unbelievable! I lived in Fairfax Square apartments before and it was a disaster compared to this place. Plus they have free community events all the time, from fitness classes (weekly) to cooking classes and celebration of Octoberfest/Halloween/Christmas etc. I went only couple of times due to my work schedule, but was able to make friends with my neighbors and enjoy free food/alcohol! Many people I met through these events have been here for long time and not planning to move out anytime soon. Also, we never ever hear our neighbors, which is a great plus that we did not expect. Oh, and we were allowed to paint walls and we do not have to repaint them back after we move out as long as we use the primer-how awesome is this?! I lived here for 3 years and it was a pretty good experience. I really appreciated how the ground keepers kept everything looking nice, the maintenance crew was great, the office staff was friendly and helpful. Lakeside really kept everything organized and presentable. I could tell they took a lot of pride in that. The only issues I had was how small the apartment was and the messy neighbor across the hallway. I was living in a 925 square foot apartment with 2 other people. We felt like we were living on top of each other and that is why we moved. Had Lakeside offered a 3 bedroom with more square footage then we would have stayed. So the small apartment was getting old and so was the messy neighbor. We wish Lakeside would have been more strict about the valet trash. It was tiring to see trash container's out 24/7 and trash out before it was time to do so. Not only did my neighbor not follow the rules but I noticed other people didn't either. I was surprised since appearance is important to Lakeside. Other than that, it's a great community. The maintenance crew was always helpful and on top of whatever issue I had. I knew I could always count on them when something went wrong. If you're looking for a good community to live in then Lakeside is the place but if you have messy neighbors then speak up. I regret not doing so. One more thing, they always have fun activities for the residents. They have the greatest pool parties (pre-pandemic) and I loved when they did paint and sip. read more

I have never seen or lived in an apartment complex that has so much to offer. This property was originally built over twenty years ago. The trees and other flora have had time to grow and give the grounds a natural beauty, as opposed to being brand new and looking like everything was just stamped together. There are monthly cooking classes and monthly social events, as well as weekly fitness classes. Five "exercise stations" surround the pond, which were designed by playworld systems and are a lot more fun than your run-of-the-mill outdoor exercise equipment. On one side of the pond is a pool, a lap pool, a small indoor gym with 24-hour access, a starbucks lounge (though I usually can't get the WiFi to work with my mac, iPad, or iPhone), a tennis/outdoor handball court, basketball, and a fantastic, if small, playground designed by playworld systems. On the other side is a big pool, a children's pool, a jacuzzi, a small, simple clubhouse that you can reserve for something like $250 a day, and one of the best features: a guest apartment. The guest apartment is a two-bedroom, fully furnished and equipped apartment that you can rent for $125 per night, which is great if you have a couple family members visiting and you don't have room in your apartment for them. Also available is a community garden and another delightful playground with a different design. In the middle there is a dog park and a barbecue area. There are walking paths throughout the neighborhood, and connecting to the nearby properties also. It is conveniently located between a Shopper's grocery center and another shopping center with a Giant and a Trader Joe's. A short drive away there's the Centreville Public Library. You may find your water heater set rather low when you move in, which does save energy but also means you run out of hot water quickly. With a screw driver it's pretty easy to adjust. You pay for all utilities yourself, with water being added to your monthly rent. We know many of the staff here by name, and they are congenial and helpful. When we have complained about a bath spout needing to be replaced, it was quickly taken care of. When we found ants after moving in, they had an exterminator there within a couple business days. A note on the dishwasher, which seems to be a problem for some other residents, too: if anything is left in the garbage disposal with running the disposal, it will block water flow and divert gray water into the dishwasher. Also, if you want the dishwasher to clean well, I find the pots and pan cycle to work best, with a little added trisodium phosphate (TSP) in addition to detergent.
