Went to this restaurant with a group of 5. We were seated quickly and our server was attentive and gracious if not exactly friendly. The portions are very generous. Cheese curds and wings for appetizers were a hit. The wings are fried, well seasoned and crispy. The entrees we ordered were praised by everyone. The service was wonderful. The vibe was chill. The place was clean. Ample parking. I contacted the restaurant a day ahead to ask what they had that was a vegan option. They never contacted me back. I met some friends there. The food they ordered they said was good for the nachos and okay for the pizza. I had the minestrone soup. I've never had a worse minestrone in my life. Overall the food tasted amazing. We should have gone with a half order of the Italian nachos. It was huge! The only complaint on the food was the toast for my salmon BLT. It was way over toasted. Seemed more like a crouton and it fell apart so I had to eat the sandwich with a fork. We were on our way to Waupon for a high school hockey game and decided to stop for dinner. Place was a little hard to find and parking lot was not well lit. Then we noticed the entry way was moved to the patio area. All seemed weird to us until we stepped inside. The place is under construction and they were operating at about 50% capacity. We were lucky to be seated right away, the place was busy. Decided to split the Cobb salad - absolutely a great decision - and split a pizza. The Cobb salad was the best I have ever eaten. Presentation was absolutely beautiful. I blew it by not taking a picture. The salad had all the usual components but they were displayed in the most inviting way. A thinly sliced chicken breast rested on top with boiled egg slices, grated blue cheese and colorful vegetables. We decided to go with the Margarita pizza with added pepperoni on a thin crust. Pizza was topped with fresh mozzarella cheese, Roma tomatoes, sun dried tomatoes and a heavy basil dusting. Crust was over done on the edges but the body of the pizza was perfect. If we order again I would try the hand tossed version. Service was very good at table side and from the kitchen. Only issue was being seated close to the outside door which made the place chilly at times. Highly recommend. Would wait to return until construction is completed this spring. We were traveling through and needed supper. Benvenuto's was on the route so we decided to give it a try. Boy did we make the right choice! The service was fantastic! Our server, Katie, was so friendly and fun and she had great recommendations. We got the chicken Dijon pasta and the spinach and mushroom lasagna. Both came with salads and the most delicious bread I've ever eaten. Both entrees were large portions and oh so good!! We had plenty of leftovers for lunch. I am so happy that this Benvenuto's is still open, as sadly, a few of the others have closed. My son and his wife stopped here for dinner after driving through The Horicon Marsh. The food was amazing. Every entre, drink and dessert was exceptional. I had the 1/2 order Italian "Nachos". My daughter-in-law had the baked ravioli and my son had a hot Italian sandwich with a side of crispy brussel sprouts. All were excellent. Our waitress, Hope, was very nice, very helpful and efficient. For dessert, I had an Italian Affogato with espresso, Amaretto, poured over ice cream. It was heavenly. My daughter-in-law had the Tiramisu, which was light and flavorful. The food menu here is extensive as is the drink menu. My son had the April "beer of the month". A cherry beer from Door County. My daughter-in-law had the strawberry and basil soda. She said it was so good! The restaurant is kind of hidden behind another breakfast restaurant and a gas station, but it us well worth seeking out. It is small, but not too small and It has a small bar with a few TVs. My mom had salad, asked for a different dressing, they gave her a tiny one and the server took 10 minuets to even bring it and still waited another 10 minuets for more dressing. One of my favorite meals is Benvenuto's Chicken Tetrazzini. Great marriage of cheese, chicken, spices and pasta. High recommendation on this dish. French Onion Soup is pretty good too! As for some of the recent reviews about service, I'm just glad this restaurant had made it through Covid and the current issue of the lack of available workers. Tonight (weeknight) I would have had about a 10 min wait, but I asked if I could eat in the bar. Got in right without a wait. Service tonight was fine. I wouldn't say anything came out quick, but I really didn't feel it was terribly long either. Everything that was supposed to be hot, came out hot, and tasted great. So no problems here! I was also happy to have been visited by management to see how my meal was going, nice touch when managing a staff of mostly younger employees. read more

When I first walked into Benvenuto's Italian Grill, I was warmly welcomed by the staff at the door. I was pleasantly surprised how beautiful the place was, (check out the upgrades on the decor both inside and outside.) You simply cannot escape the unavoidable aroma of garlic and other flavors that was pouring out from the impeccably clean kitchen which is visible from the dining room. From the warm focaccia bread, to the chicken parmigiana, I had discovered that this was quality, heavenly tender chicken with savory tomato sauce and just the right amount of cheese (I don't care for cheese really), so it can be challenging for me. I can honestly tell you that I really enjoyed everything I had eaten here. The servers are extra friendly and sincere. I also had a lengthy conversation with the owner, explaining why I was so impressed. What a great experience and restaurant. I Love this place, and will continue to return many times over. They do have some good food however, they should have barbecue ribs and stuff like that and they don't and they do charge a lot of money for their food which can totally go downhill because it's crazy to feed a family of four with a super like $125 for one meal so that's crazy. Ordered from this restaurant two days in a row, since non of the other local businesses delivered. First night had the wedge salad and an order of wings. Both were delicious, and the wings had a rub on them that I wasn't familiar with, but very delicious. Didn't even have to sauce them. Second night had Chicken Carbonara and an order of wings. Both were delicious, as expected. Will definitely visit this restaurant upon my next visit, hopefully in person instead of delivery. The only reason I gave 4 out of 5 stars is because the chief was very loudly talking about a time he got into a fight and beat someone up. This is my go to restaurant when I decide to go out to eat here in town or have business meetings. Its just top quality Italian food that speaks for itself. You can't deny that when this place is always full of customers and busy. Besides having great brick-oven pizza, I like to get the risotto balls, a calzone, or the chicken tetrazzini pasta! THE WORST EXPERIENCE As a family, we have been here many times and always enjoyed the food and service. Unfortunately, due to last night's service, we will never be returning. The waitress never introduced herself or even smiled. When we asked for bread, she said it had to wait until after we order. After waiting 40 minutes for our food (family of 6) we ordered our second drinks at 8:42. We were then asked "How much have you been drinking and who is driving home?" WHAT?! We were flabbergasted as a set of 30 and 60 year olds. We were told it was last call at 8:30, they did not ask us beforehand if we wanted a last drink! Then a manager came by and asked us again the same questions.. FOR A SECOND DRINK. After being so offended and dealing with TERRIBLE service, we canceled our drink orders and asked for our food to go. We expressed our concerns with the staff that we had never had these issues here before or literally anywhere else! We were still charged for the drinks we did not even get as well as had a separate waitress harass us on our way to our cars yelling, "That was uncalled for!" I do not know what happened to this place, but it was seriously the worst experience ever. If you do not want a table of six 1.5 hours before closing, you shouldn't have taken our table. Also, you should have stopped at our table BEFORE last call to let us know. We were celebrating two birthdays and another birthday of an aunt we just lost in February and this staff turned it into the worst experience we have ever had. Also, they served the most bland French onion soup that actually made me vomit. If you like plain, warm water with onions and greasy cheese - this is perfect for you! Y'all need to fix yourselves. We revisited BD Benvenuto's Wednesday in the pre-dinner hours and found the parking lot nearly empty. Neighboring restaurants had closed for the day. The staff on hand was busy preparing for the 5:00 rush, but made time to make us feel welcome. We began our dinners with a hearty cup of tomato basil soup and a mixed greens salad. I ordered the seafood cannelloni and Helen ordered their wild mushroom ravioli; each was a very generous and well presented serving providing enough to take left-overs home. We micro-waved the left-overs and enjoyed a wonderful Thursday lunch. Their tiramisu is also very good. Noise level was much better at this visit. Our waitress was attentive, but food seemed to be slow coming out of the kitchen. The kitchen staff was undoubtedly busy with dinner preparations, and our visit may have been an interruption to greater tasks. Overall, we enjoyed our visit and will be returning. read more

Not sure why this place only has 3.5 stars. Don't let the outside or location fool you; this is the best Italian restaurant in the county. Portions are plenty big enough and there's a large menu with something for everyone even if you don't care for Italian food. The hostesses and wait staff were all diligent and pleasant and the food was outstanding from start to finish. We will be back! Update after several visits: I visited Benvenuto's last week for dinner and left this coupon in the waitresses book because it expired the next evening and I knew I would not be returning that soon. I then receive this outstanding letter in the mail today along with the coupon which had been revised. That's customer service I haven't seen from ANY company in I don't know how long, if ever! Over the years, I have eaten plenty of meals at this location. After I moved back to Madison in the early 1990s, Beaver Dam was a convenient location to meet up with my parents for the occasional celebratory meal. So when my mother and I recently decided to get together for lunch, Benvenuto's was our obvious choice. I have come to expect stellar service at this restaurant and my most recent visit did not disappoint. Our server (Donna - they write their name on the table) cordially greeted us, shared the daily specials and took our order. She immediately provided with freshly baked, herb-encrusted bread and bottle of olive oil poured on to a plate of dried herbs. I am a fan of this bread, which has olive oil baked into the crust of the bread, amping up both its flavor and its texture. Throughout of meal, Donna checked periodically to keep my coffee topped off, clear dishes and to make sure were satisfied with our entrees. If we raised an issue with the food (a little foreshadowing, kids), she promptly and professionally resolved the issue. For a casual dining environment, she provided five star service. While the kitchen demonstrated some decent technique to my meal, the run-of-the-mill ingredients left me largely underwhelmed. After glancing at my soup and sandwich, my eighty year-old mom snidely commented "looks like you got the Sysco special" If Yelp ever comes out with a paper and pen edition, she is Elite material. My cup of cheddar beer soup looked and tasted more like melted American cheese. The beer and cheese flavors just did not mesh very well. The texture was OK and it actually served as a decent dipping sauce for my sandwich. It just was not much to get excited about as a soup. The grilled ham and cheese sandwich looked well constructed, with its nicely browned bread and mounds of sliced ham. Despite the fact that the kitchen did a nice job of preparing the sandwich, the use of unexceptional ingredients sabotaged their efforts. Instead of a daily special that highlights the uniqueness of the restaurant, I got a generic tasting ham and cheese sandwich. It wasn't bad, just nothing "special". The most frustrating component was the cheese, which reminded me of a melted Kraft Single. It's a shame that in a state with so many award winning cheese makers the restaurant would utilize such a bland choice. My mom ordered the garlic shrimp pizza (sautéed shrimp, roasted garlic, sliced tomatoes, fresh mozzarella and basil on an.), a dish she enjoyed in the past. Like my sandwich, her pizza passed the eye test. However, the promised roasted garlic was missing in action and while the shrimp were plump and tender, they did not appear to be sautéed. Again, this entrée did not bring robust flavors to the table. After expressing our disappointment with pizza, the server confided that the restaurant recently changed its recipe, ditching the flavorful Alfredo sauce for a more restrained olive oil brushed crust. She did offer to get us some Alfredo sauce for a 50-cent up charge, which we gladly agreed to pay. She also added that we could request this dish be prepared in the old way with the Alfredo sauce. At the end of the lunch, I had plenty to eat, but the meal was far from satisfying. In many ways, is Benvenutos is morphing into a locally owned version of Olive Garden, but with superior service. The managers this location generally run a tight ship - the restaurant is impeccably clean, the cooks seem proficient and the servers remarkably well trained. The formula definitely works, as demonstrated by a full house for Thursday lunch service. However, an Italian - American menu that seems a bit clichéd and the use of unremarkable ingredients is relegating this popular franchise to mediocrity. read more

So we ordered over the phone two pizzas on a Friday night at 5 pm. They said we're really busy so it'll be about 40-45 minutes. Okay I said that's fine there fire oven Pizza is worth the wait. So I came to pick it up 35 minutes after I ordered figuring it would be almost ready. It was already down waiting for me. We live 5minutes from the restaurant. Pizza wasn't even warm on the one pizza the cheese was cold to the touch. Had to warm it all up just to really enjoy it. So next time anyone orders either come 15 minutes early or just know you'll have cold pizza. For the amount of money in paid for two large pizza totally disappointed. Won't be ordering anything from them for quite a while. read more

The last couple of times we been there for dinner the food and service has been much better then it used to be. The waitress has been friendly, helpful and kept coming around to check. This time we all got something that was a special. I got the pecan honey boiled walleye with sweet potato fries. Had just the right amount of sweetness and the fries were crispy but too few. M dad got the cajun pasta with shrimp. He said had nice spice. It didn't have him grabbing for water to cool his mouth down. Mom got the lemon tilapia. Nothing special but good. The time before I got the chicken/pear gorgonzola pizza. Really different. Liked the contrast between sweetness and saltiness. The balsamic glaze made it. Love the bread basket. The bread is flavorful and can dip it in olive oil. Put when waiting both time ( not a very big waiting area. Really cold in the winter cause the door is right there. Had perfectly cooked seared scallops w/ mushroom risotto. Excellent service as well. The great thing about this restaurant is that the food is seasoned well and has great flavor, no real need for added salt and pepper. Love the focaccia bread with herbed olive oil dip. I'm always too full to get a dessert but they look impressive. The only area for improvement was when entering, the hostesses (there were 3) just looked at me with a blank stare, no welcoming greeting or smiles. Eat a snack before you go and make sure you have lots of time. It took us only 10 minutes to get a table and 1 hour and 15 minutes to get our food. Not sure when our waitress put our ticket in as people that were seated after us received their food and finished dining while we were waiting. Waitress was horrible and we won't be returning.
