I went here with some of my extended family and it's hard to overstate how great Berardi's is. First off, everything that we tried on the menu was excellent. The fries are kind of UK chip shop style, square cut and crispy on the outside, creamy in the middle. The haddock and walleye were flaky and crisp - both the lemon butter and fried options nicely complimented the fish. The sauce in the lasagna was bright and flavorful. Our server, Bridgette, was really kind and helpful despite our having a biggish party and the place being understandably slammed. We got an apple and coconut cream pie to go. I haven't had a slice of the apple yet, but the coconut cream pie was top notch with a really lovely custard base and flaky crust. Even the chocolate chip cookies that came with the kids' meals were well executed, dough not over-mixed and with a good distribution of chocolate. The restaurant was clean and nicely decorated - the manager came and asked how everyone was doing. Berardi's was a 10/10 in every category for us. Will definitely be back. read more

Atmosphere - average. It is a typical, small town family restaurant. There is a combination of booths and table seating that accommodates about 80 or so patrons. Service - average. We were part of a party of six. When we called to ask for a reservation, we were told that reservations were taken for parties of 10 or more. Yet when we arrived, there was a table set up for six with a reserved sign on it! Not a very good start. As a result we had to squeeze six adults into a booth that was meant for 4 adults. Our server not attentive, nor pleasant. Food - average. Although the most of those in our dinner party were happy with their meal, I was not impressed. I had the hot roast beef sandwich which was average in size and taste. Overall - Ehh. The prices we reasonable and the food decent. Although I would not return, I can understand why some people may frequent the restaurant. read more

It was my first time eating here! Definitely won't be my last! Got the seafood soup to start it was wonderful . Then got the perch sandwich with the fresh cut fries. It was so good ! They have amazing pies in fact may be the best apple pie I've ever had. And can be counted on for a good classic Lake Erie perch sandwich. For those who remember the great Cedar Point amusement park French fries of the 1960s and 1970s, this and the Berardi's restaurant in Sandusky will take you back to a simpler time. This family is the one that provided those fries. The poor substitute products that CP serves at places like The Happy Friar in the park are nothing compared to this. Great food. Nice people. And whether you liked malt vinegar or simply ketchup with your fries (or both) they're here. A wide variety of entrees beyond French fries, of course. Take your pick. Better value than any food you can buy at Cedar Point in terms of quality and serving size. If you can stop before going into the park or can wait upon exiting the park, you will not be sorry you stopped at Berardi's. read more

I was driving cross-country and stopped in 15 minutes before closing on 12/26. Though I was the last person in the establishment, I was greeted graciously and had an excellent grilled haddock sandwich with sides. You can't beat a fine piece of fish. I wanted to have a nice sit-down dinner after subsisting on what I could scrounge in my hotel room for over a week. So glad we chose Berardi's. It's very clean, the staff is obviously taking great care to observe public safety during the virus. The service was excellent, everyone was friendly- it makes me think this must be a nice place to work. The food was delicious. I tried haddock for the first time, after being assured by the server that she was also picky about fish. Perfectly cooked, flaky with crisp edges, and sprinkled with tiny, tart capers. The sides are also a testament. They are not just slapped on the plate as an afterthought. It is obvious that the other components of my meal- asparagus and garlic mashed potatoes, were prepared with care. I ate every bite, and didn't feel as if I had overdone it. Perfect. I also love that this is a locally owned small business. The story of the restaurant is on the front of the menu, and I also like the historic photographs of the area on the walls. My wife got spaghetti and I had the BLT. I wasn't very hungry but was curious. We had heard from several people that their fries are amazing and I was excited to see what the hype was about. When they came out they were really fat and large. My sandwich was great. The spaghetti was also great. But I hated the fries. It was too much potato to fried exterior. My sister suggested that my dad and I go here for lunch today. I wasn't sure how vegetarian friendly they were, but decided to give it a try. We arrived at 1:30pm and couldn't believe how busy they were!!! Menu is very diverse, pasta, sandwiches, soups salads and their famous French fries. I had the veggie burger with fries and coleslaw. Berardi's was just what the doctor ordered when I was on business in Sandusky. Good ol midwestern staples and friendly service. And oh golly, the PIE. This place is famous for their Cedar Point French Fries, which Mr Berardi used to hawk at the park way back in the day. I much don't fancy fries, but my coworkers who ordered them enjoyed them greatly. I had the pierogies which were delicious, and finished it off with a slice of raspberry pie. The pie was to die for. Make sure when you're looking for this place you're going to the correct one- as there are two in the area, and apparently they're different. read more

Linda at Berardi's is my favorite waiter I've ever had anywhere, full stop. So sweet. Deserves an Oscar for diner waitressing. Went here recently with friends. Great cozy little spot, filling and delicious. Get the Homefry Heaven breakfast, and the potato cake (skip the pot roast skillet). I look forward to returning to try the famous French fries. My wife and I have had the pleasure of going to Berardi's for many years. We are treated like family and time after time receive a very good meal at a very good price. Chris frequently comes to the table to say hello. The wait staff are always pleasant, cheerful and more than willing to be of help with any problems. What else can I ask for? Well, they also have a trivia question which changes every day. If you guess it right, you get a free cookie. All those years learning History, Geography and Science are finally paying off!
