Although I really, really, really miss Absolute Bagels by my old apartment on the UWS, I've deemed Bergen Bagels my new neighborhood bagel place (beating AREA, since I live right in between both - but I was in limbo for a while). They staff is pretty quick. The selection of cream cheese is remarkable. They have whole wheat everything bagels. There's also something special about the bagels - they almost have a sweet taste to them, although not overpowering. Just right, something nice. Although I have never had a muffin, I always look at them and pretty much instantly salivate. They look amazing. Some day, I will splurge. Tried an "Everything" bagel with egg and bacon. I think I would just stick with a sesame seed one next time though; the rock salt was too overpowering. Just moved to the area and had to find a bagel place and this is my favorite. I'll talk about the some of the things I got since I moved to this lovely neighborhood. Everything wheat bagel has a great ratio of the "everything," which is greatly appreciated. Their lox sandwich was generous with the lox and the toppings and a great price. Pumpernickel swirl bagel is amazing. I came in to get pumpernickel but it ran out before I ordered. The swirl still had the pumpernickel taste so I'm still happy. They have 1.5 billion cream cheeses, so it is giving me a reason to come back :) I've had the dill cream cheese so far but I saw the feta pesto and an apple cinnamon one I want to try! Meh. Ordered a salad because I could not leave my work building. It was ok, nothing fantastic. I paid $2 for avocado and I received, maybe a teaspoon-full. It was such a small amount, I considered calling them back to complain, but who knows what they would do to my food. I'll just stick to ordering in-store. This place gets 4 stars because it is definitely better than Ess-a-Bagel. I know many people think a place better than Ess-a-Bagel deserves 6 stars, but those people are wrong (see my review of Ess-a-Bagel). The Bergen Bagel bagels have a nice texture on both the outside and inside, and the flavor is what I want out of a New York bagel. The everything bagels had salt, but most of the seeds fell off. Bacon egg and cheeses are freshly made (not microwaved, like at as Ess-a-Bagel), and taste great. And the lox portions are generous and tasty. Best bagels in Brooklyn! Pretty much a daily visitor. Their coffee is great too-- worth the little up-charge from a bodega.

As far as bagel sandwiches go, I was pretty impressed. Quick service, loaded bagel (chicken salad lettuce tomato salt pepper and mayo), and Uber satisfying - if tough to eat. They're not my favorite bagels ever, but until someone opens a Montreal-style bagel place that I can walk to, these guys will be my bagel spot. Best bagel in NY (the world?) hands down. Freshly baked and perfect amount of soft doughiness. And like most NY delis, they understand the importance of an adequate amount of cream cheese. Another unexpected favorite is the delicious mini black and white cookies. For whatever reason, infinitely better than their full-size brethren. Grab a box of them and dare yourself to have any left by the end of the day. Just got a plain toasted bagel with vegetable cream cheese and an orange juice. I was next door at the Art store and decided to stop in. The guy, who I believe is the owner, took my order. Great bagels! I come here often to get the lox bagel. However, yesterday, after asking the man behind the counter whether he has added any lox, the dude ensured me that he did. When I got home, nothing was in there except condiments, was still charged for 2 full orders of lox bagel and scallion cream cheese, total of $26.13. I called the place immediately, and a man on the phone "promised to offer me two free orders of lox bagels" on the next order. I hope the place delivers their promise. read more

LOVE Bergen Bagels! The bagels are AWESOME here and they have fantastic baked goods!!!! They got a wonderful selection of spreads and sandwich combos. The coffee is good as well. The main issue is that it is TINY but luckily that is being rectified as they will be moving down the street to a much larger space in the new Pratt building. I wish they would hurry! It would also be amazing if they were open 24/7...at least on the weekends. They deliver which is yet another plus. I noticed the last time I was there that they start accepting Pratt Dollars which I am sure will drive even more business for them from the college. What an excellent business decision on their part! I recently moved back to NYC (Brooklyn) after 2 1/2 years away and breathed such a sigh of relief after finding Bergen Bagels. I am back in the land of delicious NYC bagels. The bagels themselves are thick and to the quality you'd expect of being in the city, amazing cream cheese (with real vegetables cut up into it!) and the breakfast sandwiches are fantastic as well. I think the prices are fair too, given the quality. The line can be kind of long on a Sunday but that's to be expected.
