Sadly I had the worst massage of my life at this place. The massage was extremely painful. They used way, way too much pressure. I was sobbing from the discomfort. I was in pain for days afterward. Literally, I've had two tattoos done, and both of those were more relaxing and comfortable than this massage. I was so shocked by the unpleasantness of this experience that I paid and tipped just to get out of there. But after a few days, I decided to call them and speak about what happened. They were very understanding and gave me my money back as well as a gift certificate. I didn't really want a full refund but they did give it to me. I'm sure I'll never use the gift certificate. It's a shame because my friend got a massage the same day and she enjoyed it. The place has nice decor and a relaxing atmosphere. Unfortunately, the service from the replacement masseuse during that visit fell short of expectations. During my recent session, despite requesting a scalp massage for a headache, it wasn't delivered, leading to some frustration. What bothered me more was the front desk's indifferent response when I shared my feedback--they seemed dismissive and somewhat rude. I always go here to get an hour foot massage. You can set an appointment over the phone but I always come at a time when it's slow and they always take care of me. It doesn't matter who I get that day, I always get the best foot massages, sometimes I even fall asleep. They play tranquil music, have chairs that recline back, use warm towels to wipe your feet down and give great massages. I've never gotten a back rub from there before today but it actually was pretty good and made me feel super relaxed. The only thing I wish is that the reception away was a little further away from the massage area because while you are relaxing is can be hard when you're hearing the phone ring or people coming in and out of the store to make appointments. I have been to Bergen Spa once before and I must admit: they offer quality service at an affordable price tag. I decided on a whim to check them out again yesterday and I am very grateful that I trusted my gut. As a walk-in, there was a modest wait of 3 minutes before being guided to a clean available room. The place was clean and the masseuse was cordial. He applied as much or as little pressure as I requested. With a sticker price of $48 for an hour massage, I am inspired to recommit to better self-care. I am hoping to visit them again before the month ends. I'll post an update. read more

It was absolutely soothing, both ladies greeting me and my mother at the door. Both seem excited for the opportunity after talking about the selections. I (myself) waited outside and was treated with the best hospitality and I'm currently sitting in the relaxing chair. My mother hasn't came out the room yet but I'm assuming she is getting her knots out of her back and foot from working so hard. I went there today during a very busy week at work to try and maintain my stress. What a treat! It's super affordable (especially in this neighborhood) and it was a very thorough deep tissue massage. The masseuse figured out the amount of pressure in all of my knots and was very attentive to problem areas that most give up on after a few minutes. My wife got me a gift card from here for $73 and added $8 for tips and after I finished my massage the Owner demanded a 15% tip minimum. Tips are meant to be a curtesy of well done work I didn't know tips are part of the price, this neighborhood is getting very demanding and even tell you how much to tip, even in the city I haven't dealt with this kind of cheap people.
