Came here with my wife while on our family vacation to Seaside. Everything was above and beyond. The bread with olive oil and seasoning was a great way to start. Buratta and tomato was delicious. Sicilian style octopus unbelievable. For the main course I had the cowboy cut steak with butter poached lobster on top and it was cooked perfectly. My wife had the scallops that were like butter. If it wasn't for our waitress, Kim, we absolutely would have walked out! The two hostesses were not competent at all. We sat for almost 1/2 an hour without water or an offer for a cocktail. Finally Kim was assigned to our table and "saved the night". We ordered drinks then about 10 minutes later ordered our food. The first course was literally dropped onto the table by the runner, and we still didn't have our drinks. Cocktails came 1/2 way into eating our appetizer. The grilled octopus was delicious! Luckily we had asked Kim to space out our food because we saw people getting their main dishes while their appetizers were on the table. The busboy finally brought water and bread after we asked. (Sorry if this is gross but his fingernails were black and he picked up our glasses). We ordered the porterhouse steak and it was very good! It was seasoned well, seared on the outside and cooked close to requested temperature. Again, Kim checked on us at regular intervals and was terrific! Clearly, other than Kim, the staff was not trained. The busboys walked around and did nothing unless asked. The dining room is small, crowded and very noisy. What a great surprise! To begin, our server, Cheyenne was engaging, knowledgeable and efficient. Let's start with the bread.... Warm & crunchy with an amazing oil dipping sauce. We rarely eat bread... We ate bread. Deee-lish! I had Oysters Rockefeller...much lighter than I have had elsewhere but quite tasty & satisfying. My Hubby had the arugula salad which could easily gave fed 2 (or3). Fresh, crunchy & delicious. For dinner I had a combination of sides (I'm weird that way) LobsterMac & Cheese with extra poached lobster and seared scallops. Perfect meal! Definitely worth a do-over. The Hubby had NY Strip Steak, Medium. Again, perfectly cooked and overly abundant. Whipped potatoes on the side were fluffy, hot and excellent. Not a misstep to be had. Okay food, bad ambiance. At this price point and with the many rules that go along with making a reservation (including a $25 per person fee if you cancel, strict dress code, strict time limit per table), we expected better. There was extremely loud club music playing throughout our meal, which could be forgiven were it not for the weirdest part of our dining experience: the entire time we were eating there was a photographer who was either working with the restaurant directly or with their approval, she was filming and taking pictures without asking anyone for consent to be filmed. Very bizarre and not what you expect when you spend several hundred dollars on a meal. It was also very loud and overall casual inside the restaurant in a way that again just doesn't match the price point and the way they advertise the place. One of the waitresses was talking politics with the table next to us loudly for most of our meal which was just kind of surreal. I assumed they were old friends based on the conversation, but at the end she said "nice to meet you," so I'm not sure what prompted the conversation, which was honestly really inflammatory and uncomfortable to sit through. I wasn't trying to eavesdrop, but they were so loud it was unavoidable. There are references on their site to bringing clients there for meals, but I would definitely never take someone to this place for a business lunch. It was my birthday and I can say for sure I would not recommend this place for a special occasion either. The food was just okay, not a great value given the ambiance. My ribeye was very tough, the fat had not rendered. I cook ribeyes regularly at home and even as a home cook I do a better job. The mashed potatoes were incredible, and our waitress was nice. Everything came out relatively quickly but there was also always someone waiting to take our plates even before we were done eating. You really feel that time limit! I've been there twice and I found it consistently aggravating. The one shining example has been the waitstaff who are way overworked and trying to cope with too many tables and doing an outstanding job with grace and proefessionalism. Also, the wine list and bar stock is excellent and priced well for what you are offered. Having said that, 1) Managment needs to scale back on the tables until they can get staffed to the right level. I don't care how good the staff is, they don't deserve the hell they are going through. 2) I am from a family of butchers and I can safely say there is no way that the steaks I have ordered were dry-aged. The tendons hadn't softened and I was spitting out bits of gristle on every bite. On a NY strip, please... 3) My wife ordered the rack of lamb and it came so charred so badly that she couldn't eat it. 4) There is enough money in this area that this could be a massive win if managed appropriately, But there is no way I'm going spend $500 another time to have be subjected to this level of disorder. read more

They could not find our reservation but quickly added us to a waitlist and we only had to wait 20 minutes for a table outside. We tried the lobster meatballs, littleneck clams, and wedge salad for an appetizer which all were great. Little neck clams were spicy and amazing. We shared a cowboy steak and got the truffle fries, brussel sprouts and broccoli rabe. The steak was cooked perfectly and all the sides were tasty. Cheyenne was SO sweet and was clearly an experienced server. We did not feel neglected and so many other employees (manager, etc) checked on us throughout our meal. My family and I went to dinner here last weekend and were looking forward to a nice meal. Here's the deal: The staff at this restaurant is not experienced or trained at ALL. There were more than one near slips (plates nearly dropped). Our server was completely overwhelmed. The food was a mess. My husband's steak while cooked properly was low quality and was not seasoned at ALL- so bland. I had the cod and it was also very uninspired and bland. The Brussel sprouts were decent, but there were french fries mixed in from the fryer. We sent back our Manhattan as it just wasn't a Manhattan. We didn't even know what it was! The manager was accommodating and replaced it with a glass of wine - but left the cocktail on the bill. She also had a new steak fired but it too wasn't seasoned. We appreciated her effort. I wonder if it makes sense for them to revaluate the concept all together. I will be very impressed if they are able to pull it together enough to call themselves a real steakhouse. At this price point there is no room for this many errors & kinks. We expected good service, proper classic cocktails, seasoned and quality meats and ambiance.....and Berkeley cut did not deliver on any of this. I know you have only been open a week, but my disappointment is overwhelming. My Father was a butcher his entire life. He wouldn't serve this to the dogs hanging outside the butcher shop. The Brussel sprouts were burnt. The truffle fries were cold. The creamed spinach was solidified. Kirsten the manager tried to make things right and said she hasn't seen a 1/8 inch steak come out of the kitchen. She resubmit the order, but the medium well came out completely raw. Still cold on the inside. Couldn't take a picture as my vegetarian guest almost vomited when the second steak (a re-do) came out completely raw. Ice cold raw. Lucas our waiter was very sweet and accommodating and kudos to Kristen for really trying. They need to work out ALOT of kinks before moving forward. Come on 'fellas. All of a sudden when our steaks came out of the kitchen, so did a swarm of flies too. They landed on us and the food, poor server had no idea what was going on. Finally the manager came over to talk to us, he blamed the flies on the patrons leaving the door open upon entering the restaurant. Bread is always good. I had the Kansas City Steak. It's not cheap at $64.00. It's was poor. I would say half of the steak was fat. I was lucky to get 3 slices that were Ok. I am being nice saying it was poor. I always give a restaurant another chance but we were here on Valentines Day and i order the same steak, poor. We never go to the barrier island between Memorial Day and Labor Day for obvious reasons and as such when we saw Berkeley Cut participating in Jersey Shore Restaurant Week, we decided to give it a try. Berkeley Cut, a relatively new restaurant, offers a broad menu and from its reviews is known for its steaks. We decided to use the restaurant week menu and both of us chose the filet mignon. It was was properly prepared and juicy. For appetizers, we tried the pork belly sliders and the clams casino. Both were superb. For a cocktail, we tried the Berkeley infusion, which we were quite surprised to find prepared table side, a loli type bit of a show. Beyond that, our waitress was excellent. She was quite friendly and when told one of our dining party had food allergies, went out of her way to make sure the diner would have no surprise problems. In the end, the restaurant has a contemporary upscale feel but this leads to it becoming quite noisy when the room is filled. read more

Music was blaring each time we were there - we are young with a high tolerance. We asked waiter and manager to turn down loud music, other tables were also complaining and were told that the owner likes it loud and they would turn it down until he arrived. Guess what, he arrived and the music again was blaring. The owner needs to decide if he wants to be in the club or steak house business. Staff said that everyone complains and they can't control the owner. Happened twice, will not happen again as we will not go back. visited Berkeley Cut about a week after they opened and we had such a great experience! Our server (female, I forget her name) was so personable and knowledgeable! She answered all of our questions. We started with the applejack oyster Rockefeller and they were so yummy! very different to have oysters covered in melted cheese but highly recommend. I got the chicken dish which also was very tasty and my boyfriend got the Kansas City dry aged bone in steak and said it was amazing. (Our dog loved the bone). We also order the mashed potatoes and asparagus which were very good. Everything was a la carte but the portions were large. The only complaint we had were our drinks took awhile to get. We have recommended this place to several people since we've been there and can't wait to go back, especially after the summer crowd leaves come September. read more

Great dinner at this place. The service was outstanding, we sat very quickly wide open spaces .it has some cool music playing. Quaint seats 20 tables in dining room .nothing fancy about decor. Wild lights in dining room. Good wine list .the dessert list was short but all complimenting the entrees nothing heavy .fresh Gelato was the best choice.i had the berry cobbler very tart but the Gelato scoop on top made it great. We have been consistently trying to get here for over a month in the summer it is packed. Well, all I can say is this restaurant is a crap shoot. One day it will be the most unbelievable meal you've ever had. The next time, you'll regret going. They are inconsistent, disrespectful, and inattentive. I went last night with a party of 6 and no one's steak was cooked properly. They were all raw, not even rare - raw. After they came back to the table from the refire, they were tough, chewy, and impossible to cut. I also have a dairy allergy, and made that very clear, but I felt sick today, meaning there was most likely cross contamination with my steak. I will not be returning to this restaurant. But want to know a restaurant who is consistent every time? Do yourself a favor and go to McDonald's. read more

The bread was very good and the Caesar Salad was average. The Scallops were a hit and the presentation was very nice. The Salmon looked great and was a very nice portion. My brother enjoyed his NY Strip however,at that price point, it needs to be outstanding, and I didn't sense that. My lamb chops were very tasty. They were slightly overcooked however and the presentation was just silly. I shouldn't have to cut my lamb into individual chops. That's just stupid and honestly, I've never seen them served that way. Overall, would I go back? I mean sure, but the prices are very high and they set themselves up for hard reviews because of it. I ordered the pork chop, which came out looking amazing. It was the saltiest thing I have ever tasted (and I love salt). I thought if I cut the outer layer off and just ate the middle, it would be better. It was not. The salt completely permeated the whole chop. We had truffle fries and broccoli rabe for sides. The broccoli rabe was fine, but the fries were cold. The atmosphere of the restaurant is nice but very loud - and it wasn't even crowded. Glad I tried it but I don't think I would go back. read more

I would expect that from Any other restaurant other than a steak House. I get it happens but that's not why I gave it one star. We were three couples. We each charged our portion and wrote in the tip. The waiter, or someone else (never really got a straight answer), added an additional $52 onto each of our checks. BEWARE! I had dinner there with two other couples two weeks ago. When if it my cc bill the amount charged was different from my receipt. I gave the waiter a tip of 48.00(20%). The experience was terrible from the second we sat down. This place is understaffed, in over their head, service is horrible...food is less than mediocre... took 45 minutes to get water... cocktails came room temperature. Took 1.5 hours to even get our food order in, which, all but two dishes had to be sent back because it was all prepared wrong. Oysters and shrimp came submerged in water. Manager wanted to blame our server, but honestly, she had no help (bussing etc), and she certainly wasn't the one cooking our steaks that came out like hockey pucks. We vocalized how horrible our experience was numerous times, because it truly was something out of a bad movie. When we finally got our check (which also took an additional 30-45 minutes- *we had to go inside and remind them about it) while reviewing it, we discovered they charged us on items we either sent back or didn't even order.
