Small Cafe, small bites, small drinks. Perfectly petite, lacking basics. Came here on a whim, looking for some bakeries I've yet to go to. The location is small but not too tiny. Very quiet, right next to a square peg pizza. They don't offer drip, cold brew, or standard coffee. They stick to espressos, americano, and lattes,and that's their lane. I got some bakery items and an iced drink, baristas choice. I got a whole wheat croissant, a lemon poppy muffin, and a latte of indescriminate flavor. The coffee was good. Not bitter, plenty sweet, and not drowned in milk. The lemon poppy muffin was not too sweet and a little crumbly, and the croissant was buttery and flaky despite the chunks of whole grain in it. I walked into this cafe the other day and instantly fell in love with it! I wish someone had told me about it sooner because it is such an under-hyped coffee shop in my town! I absolutely love the way that the shop is organized and it gives off such a relaxing, chill vibe. It is the perfect studying spot for students or for people who can work remotely. They also provide a cart full of board games for you to play with so it's also a great place to come chill with friends and catch up! On top of the shop having a bomb vibe, the coffee is also sooo good! My go to order at any coffee shop is an iced coffee with almond milk and you would be surprised how many places mess the order up. The coffee here at Berkins Blend Cafe was just so fresh and the bitterness to the coffee was a satisfying bitterness that made me wanting to come back ASAP. Another example of why I love Yelp. I had a very early appointment in Glastonbury today -so early that I skipped breakfast at home so I could be in Glastonbury at 7:30 am. After my appointment, I searched Yelp for Glastonbury "coffee" and up popped Berkins Blend. It was the first time I ever heard of them and soon it was the first time I ever patronized them. Berkins was a little hard to find, being set back from Hebron Avenue in a little strip mall next to a karate school. So unless you know it's there, you'll really have to keep your eyes open. I was greeted like a long-lost relative, and that's always a positive sign for me. I like a place that doesn't take your patronage for granted and seems genuinely glad that you walked in. I ordered a medium coffee, and I guess the coffee is something special here- not drip made but more like an espresso. Whatever it was, I have to say it was tremendous- with a deep and rich flavor. I wanted one of their savory croissants, but there were none in stock when I visited around 8:45 this morning. I went with a regular croissant which was warmed up and tasted like it just popped out of a Pâtisserie somewhere. It paired very well with that delicious cup of coffee. This can easily be your office away from home. The tables resemble work stations with electrical outlets and even some monitors. Traveling from CT to RI today, I went out of my way to come here based on good reviews as an "Internet cafe," because I needed to do some work. Wi-Fi didn't work. Americano was terribly weak (I asked for strong). The only food available besides pastry was a frittata, which was mislabeled as "corn," but was actually chicken. Fortunately I'm not a vegetarian, and it really was tasty. But a vegetarian person would have been sadly disappointed. (It was the last "corn" one, they would have been out of luck.) I stopped by here a couple of Tuesday's ago by myself for my morning coffee. I happened to be staying in Glastonbury for a few days and whenever I consulted Yelp about a nearby coffee place, Berkins Blend Cafe came up. So I got in the car and headed on over. Berkins Blend is located in a strip mall and whenever I arrived at just before 8 AM everything was fairly peaceful. Upon entering the restaurant I saw a couple of cops having their breakfast sitting at a table to my left, a big table down the middle and then some two tops with TV's off to the right. In the back was the place where you could buy some pastries and order your coffee. Since I wasn't staying I quickly headed to the back to place my order and chose a large latte with oat milk. The oat milk ended being a bit pricey to add at $1.29 but I didn't really feel like whole milk on this morning. From the time that I walked into the store until leaving took maybe 5 minutes. After my coffee had a bit of time to cool down, I tried it and thought it was pretty good. The oatmilk was a good addition on my part as it had a nice oat flavor to it and allowed the good coffee to come through. The bottom line for me is that I would come back here again in the future. A very homey, laid back coffee shop. It's somewhat hidden in the back of a mini shopping mall but when you walk in, it's very spacious and welcoming. The barista working that day was also very friendly. I came on a Sunday around 9am and I was the only one there but when I left around 10:30 a couple other parties had come in but it wasn't crowded at all which was nice. I ordered a cappuccino and it was pretty standard. They have the options of almond, oat and half and half as substitutions for the standard whole and skim milk options. They have all the other normal coffee shop drinks like lattes, coffee, americano, etc. The prices are very reasonable as well. Definitely a little bit cheaper than other coffee shops in Glastonbury. They are definitely a place where I could come and do work. Lots of power sockets and they even have computers set up along one side of the shop that people can use. read more

The cafe is not too decked up... very simple and clean... they have free Wi-Fi and plugins for your device. The coffee shop is tucked into a very small shopping plaza. I found the spot on Yelp and it was close to my house and Black owned so I had to try it out. I was looking for a spot to read outdoors and this fit the bill. When I walked in, I was taken aback by house cute and cozy the spot was. They have a location that feels incredibly spacious while setting up cozy books to read, eat, or visit with a friend. I grabbed a nitro brew but also noticed they have both traditional and gluten free options for guests. Coffee was delish, service was friendly and kind. The customers were diverse and chill. Interesting concept! This cafe only serves espresso-based coffee, no drip. The owner obviously cares so much about coffee flavor, gets just one blend of beans from Oregon, and works hard to make sure everything is delicious. They also have a nitro cold brew I will have to come back and try! The americano I ordered was very good. The cafe is set up specifically to cater to people coming in to work or do schoolwork. I stopped in on a weekday late morning and was really intrigued by this spot. There are a few places to sit (photos on Yelp do a good job capturing the space), and they were practically all taken up, including individuals and groups of people working or talking. The space is set-up really nicely for working. In fact, there are monitors mounted to the wall of a few of the spaces in case you might need to project something! The woman working behind the counter was very nice. She mentioned that a few days a week, they have hot soups. I opted for one of the quiches to go, which was made by First and Last. She gave me good directions for when I got back home and heated it up. I really look forward to another opportunity to come here and spend a bit more time hanging out. read more

you know the feeling in the morning when you arent yourself without your morning cuppa, i guess thats what happen with me and my yelp of berkins! so full disclosure, my bff is also a berkun, close, no cigar. kind of how i felt about my visit to BBC. sure, the coffee is fine and the espresso is average, but i dont find the place as a must do. it is the closest jolt to me short of driving into the center of town, or even i guess manchester main street, if you need a pick me up. This place is probably my favorite coffee shop. I come here when I want to be productive because I love the inside seating and decor. It is meant to be a place where people can get work done, but sometimes can get noisy during the middle of the day. I normally just get the americano which is just "normal coffee." The coffee isn't too bitter or acidic, it is just right. I usually get it for here so I can enjoy it in a cute mug. Some of them have encouraging or funny phrases on them. In the fall, they have pumpkin muffins, which might be my favorite pumpkin muffins ever. I would recommend giving this local place a check out! read more

There is even a small conference sized table in the center. A telecommuter's dream. But what really stand out is the aroma. Coffee. Fresh ground beans and freshly brewing coffee. Nirvana. The coffee, after all, that is what I came for. It is spectacular. Mind you, I am not a "I will take an iced, half-caffeinated, grande, 1 pump toffee nut, 1 pump caramel, 1/2 pump hazelnut, breve (not sure what the "%" is for though), americano with less water and more ice, put in a venti cup" kind of guy. I like coffee. Old fashioned caffeine containing coffee. Sometimes cappuccino. Yeah, I am a heretic. So, I have yet to sample the obviously well studied barrista skills of the man behind the counter. But I will say, they do coffee right. Fresh, delicious coffee. I love it. So, muffins. Three people in my party....one loved, loved, loved the chocolate muffin. The other two thought great, but not the best they ever had. Best they had is 80 miles away so this becomes my default go to for muffins place! 5 stars may seem generous but this is a coffee shop. And the do coffee great. They do service great. They have created comfortable surroundings if you plan to stay a while and don't rush you out. Prices are in line with other places. I pass by this coffee shop at least 4 times a day and never knew it was here until seeing them mentioned on the Glastonbury PD facebook site. I have been missing out on this adorable relaxing spot. Has to be the best Latte I've ever tasted. The athmosphere is comfortable and the employees are really nice. I got to try their gluten free muffin and it was perfect. The Ber of Berkins is the baristo and the Kins is the friendly partner who explained the coffee beans and where they get their bakery goods to me. My boyfriend and I went to grab a quick bite to eat on Sunday morning. I was craving a croissant, but unfortunately there were no plain ones left. We ended up purchasing two frittatas, a cinnamon scone, a fruit cup, and an iced americano. The cinnamon scone alone gets 5 stars!!! The fruit cup was good- I was pleased that the fruit was layered instead of mixed since I don't like blueberries. I don't drink coffee and when I asked my boyfriend for a review he said "It was just normal coffee it was good." The frittatas were good. They had a homemade feel to them. I wasn't unsatisfied, but I don't can't see myself craving another. The store appeared clean. The one staff person I saw had a mask on. All patrons had masks. The inside seating section was closed, but there were a few tables outside. I'm not sure if anyone cleans them. I emailed them about Catering and spoke with Jan on the phone. It all sounded pretty promising. She even said they could make a custom style pasta dish to go with our Tuscan theme and would email me a menu of what dishes they offer. A week passed with no menu. I tried calling and emailing, reaching out several times she got back to me days after and emailed me menu of berkins baked good that you can see on there website. Best coffee, nice people, convenient location. I don't pop in often because I don't spend much money on drinks or take out, but I will stop at Berkins'. They have a very nice child size hot chocolate which has a richness and smoothness to it, so good it is my go to when one of my children is "feeling wee" and needs a little something special. Berkins sits inconspicuously on Herbron Avenue. I drove past it too many times to count, and only realized it was here when my massage therapist mentioned she loves the coffee here. Blending drinks quite well, Doug is a stand out among baristas. Quality coffee and outstanding service are inside a relaxing shop that is tucked into a corner of a little mall along a fast-speed, hectic main road. Based on service alone, a stop at Berkins is worth it. The atmosphere of Berkins is calm and cool, warmed up with the smells of coffee and feeling of perfect temperature cups. It is very enjoyable to sit and work or meet a friend here. There are numerous tables--some along one wall with television computers--and a long community table, as well as comfy chairs and small side tables. Warming this shop up even more than the coffee is Doug, the co-owner with his wife and main barista. He is welcoming and extremely kind. He greets regulars by name and chats with all those who come in as he blends his concoctions. His personality really stands out. He asks for customers' feedback, too, which baristas rarely do so openly and welcomingly. My friend and I made a special trip here after reading a recent article in the Hartford Courant, as the shop opened several months ago. We got a dirty chai, a mocha, and a hot chocolate. The shop uses Ghirardelli syrups, with a variety of flavors available. All of the drinks were good. The latte was very well blended; the only thing was that the chocolate syrup seemed to overpower the coffee a little. The hot chocolate was very good, too, with milk and chocolate syrup and--thanks to Doug--topped with fresh whipped cream!! Doug made it right in front of me, mixing the powdered sugar and cream then pouring into a whipped cream maker before making a beautiful and fluffy swirl of it on top of my hot chocolate. I really appreciate he went to the extra trouble to do that for me!! All the drinks were perfect in temperature--not scalding hot so the flavor can be tasted within minutes of it being concocted--and very well crafted by Doug. The coffee, you can tell easily on the first sip, is high quality and simply delicious. I was a little thrown by the strong taste of the chocolate syrup, and the quality of the coffee was a little disguised. I will definitely be back to try a plainer cup of coffee so I can taste the great blend by itself (with no flavor to cover it). It may be a little hard to find, but Berkins Blend is worth the stop so pull in when you see a sign with a steaming cup on it!!
